Meanwhile...

Travis was getting tired. Everywhere he walked he saw only sorrow, and misery. Why did the apocalypse have to start on his day off? First some damn blueberry lightning thing had spouted off some damn crap. Inside his head, he had thought he was finally going crazy. Than everyone had lost their damn minds. Looting was now a normal everyday occurrence. Then the wierd bugs had shown up. Cockroach's the size of dogs. Still gave him the creepy crawlys thinking about it. His family had gathered up their guns, shooting anything with more than two legs. But it was useless, the bugs were never ending. As soon as his family had killed all the bugs. A new group would show up.

Their ammo had run low within a few hours. But they were just bugs right? Just squash ‘em his younger brother Tony had said. Baseball bats, metal pipes, they tried everything. Only bullets could get through the tough chitin. Then the spiders had come. At first it was a blessing to behold. Big hairy spiders three foot tall jumping on the bugs. That was until all the bugs were gone. He had been forced to watch as the damn spiders cocooned, than carried off his family. Travis held back the sobs attempting to escape. He had to find help, he had to save his family.

Darnell was having the time of his life. It was open season. Every store was abandoned so noone cared as he helped himself to another fifty inch flat screen. He loaded it onto an already overflowing cart. He wheeled it out the door, whistling a jaunty tune. He loaded his ‘purchases’ into the back of his truck. One more run, and he should have a perfect wall of tv's. He circled around to the front, opening the door. He glanced over smirking saying. “Hey there honey, miss me?” The only reply was a muffled scream. Darnell laughed saying. “Ahh come on honey you know i’ll treat you good, heck look how safe you are.” Pointing to the rope tied to both arms, and legs. He continued. “I’m so glad I found you, I think it might be fate that brought us together.” A muffled sound of disgust the response.

That’s when a strange flicker shown out from a house across the street. Darnell looked up quickly curiosity sparkling in his eyes. “One more run baby, looks like the choice has been made for us. You be good, I will be right back.” Darnell closed the door hefting his shotgun, he walked. Almost sauntered over across the street. The front door was wide open, just inviting him in.

Darnell moved into the house looking around, there were strange blood smears along the walls. “Wierd people live here, can’t even clean up after themselves.” Darnell quipped as he started up the stairs. His nose started to pick up a faint acrid burnt smell. He started to slow as he reached the master bedroom door. It looked strange, warped somehow. He used the tip of his gun to ease the door open. It took some time for his eyes to adjust. It was very dark inside, almost black. He inched closer the acrid burnt smell growing in intensity tenfold.

He looked down realizing the floors were not dark, they were burnt black. The entire room was black. He panned his gaze around noticing a figure against the far wall. Slumped down in a perfectly clean circle. It was a hotty crying in a corner. Well he had the tools needed to turn that frown upside down. He stepped forward towards his next toy…when her face jerked up facing him. Her dark black hair covered her entire face, like that freaky horror chick that crawled out of tv's in that one movie. But he could see something was not right with this chick. Her eyes were glowing yellow.

Now Darnell was no rocket umm mechanic.. while crazy chick’s were fun in bed… this was a bit much even for him. “Are you one of them?” Her haunting tone came out. Darnell replied “One of who girl?” Maybe he could convine her to take a ride on the … Her whole body jerked upwards so fast it was a blur. Her hand reached out towards him, some invisible force grabbing him like a vice. His entire body was being held on all sides. Especially around his neck. He tried running away, to realize his feet were no longer touching the ground. He was trapped, he couldn’t breath…

The woman glared at the used to be human. She knew they were a tricky monster. Stealing her children… No can't think about that, the pain to much. She slowly closed her grip. Just like her coach used to say. Pain is fuel, use it. Well she wouldn’t allow anymore pain, she would turn it into anger. She would let the anger fuel her. She screamed out. “ARE YOU ONE OF THEM!!!” A gurgling sound was the only response. Her husband had tried to protect them… no don’t, can’t think, can’t remember. She repeated her mantra in her head. ‘There is no pain, there is no memory, there is only….Revenge.’ A resounding crack sounded out from the monster acting like a human. She flung her hand to the right, the once was a human flew through the air hitting the opposite wall. Falling into a pile of unrecognizable lumps, that could almost be described as burnt corpses.

Sarah let her arm's fall back to her sides. She glanced down at the burnt husks that were her legs, and feet. She would never walk again. But that wouldn't stop her. She turned towards the door slowly, floating a foot off the ground. Faint sparks illuminated her as they cascaded down her hair. Dancing back, and forth. She began slowly floating forward towards the stairs. As she exited her home…No it wasn’t her home anymore. The monsters had desecrated it. They killed her family, not her. She would find the rest. They would all die, she would have her revenge.
