Girl talk...

Katie found herself standing on the ground. She couldn’t recall how she ended there. One second she was hundreds of feet in the air, face to nose with a real Goddess. Now she was standing… nothing inbetween. She looked around in confusion, a whooshing sound behind her caused her to turn. There behind her was Mythra shrinking down to a normal size. Which ofcourse caused her to question ‘what is a normal size for those of the diety persuasion?’ No focus! She berated herself internally. She still had to gaze up at Mythra who was standing a good thirty feet tall.

Mythra's expression was resigned when she said. “OK look here, the first time we met. You knew nothing of the magical world. You didn't know who, or what I was. I can forgive that. Now you do, so treating me like an enemy is not helping. You are a friend to my chosen. You are part of his group, so squashing you like a bug is counterproductive. I’ll explain a bit more so you have a better frame of reference.

Mythra continued. “Thousands of years ago there were hundreds of God's. To a mortal all of them were mountains of power. But to their peers there were only three major Gods. Ten second rank Gods, the rest were barely worth calling Gods. I was one of the three. I had temples, shrines, and worshipers by the Thousands.” Mythra shrank down to close to six foot, then forming iridescent seats around Katie, and herself. “Sit I'm not done yet.” Mythra sat glaring at Katie until she also sat.

After Katie settled Mythra continued. “After the cataclysm that killed both of the other two major Gods. Mana was sucked away into the ether. I attempted to flee to other worlds I held sway over. But was stopped, by the magistrate. If I left, all life on this planet would have withered, and died. A prophecy was foretold that as long as I remained here, at an appointed time. The celestial equinox would return mana here. Than I would be given the opportunity to claim this planet for myself, as the only major God. Along with a couple of other things the magistrate knew I had been searching for.”

Mythra shifted slightly than continued. “I stayed, because I loved humans. They have great potential. Both for good, and evil. As the years passed my power was drained slowly, withering my body, to sustain human life. After a time the microscopic amount of mana in my temple was the only thing keeping me alive. As the time of the equinox approached mana started to flow back. It revived me. I used what little power I had saved to choose Bodie as my champion. His very existence generates vast amounts of mana for me. I expected it to take years before I could do more than vague hints as help. Then he goes, and claims a safe zone, and upgrades it twice! All within a day.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

That safe zone is a vortex. It is a power siphon for God’s while also a power distribution system for Earth. Due to this I was able to replace allot of my former power. With that power I convinced other deities to form a budding pantheon. With the power that gave me. I will be able to help you all. That is what we are for. We invest in our followers, they grow more powerful, so we get more power in return. Which let’s us invest more.”

Mythra's gaze hardened upon Katie. “So when I go to the trouble of forming a pact with not just any nature Deity, but Gaia herself. Just for you, but before I could even tell you so. You freak the fuck out, and treat me so poorly.” Before Katie could say anything Mythra continued. “When we first met I had spent almost all my reserves to appear to appoint Bodie as my champion. In human terms I was on fumes. Now I have oceans of power to use. So I will only say this one time to you. I need Bodie not you, if you help him then we are helping each other. Disrespect me again, and I will remove you from the equation.”

A few minutes passed before Katie spoke. “Umm who’s Bodie? Are you talking about Oby?” Mythra smirked a touch, then laughed. “His born name is Bodie, he goes by Oby. Do you think it was by chance that he came up with Obgyn? That ‘play on words’.” Mythra said while doing finger quotations in the air. “It’s close enough to his name that he prefers being called Oby now. You mean you didn’t know?”

Katie sat for a time confusion waring with sorrow on her face. “All this time, he never even told me. We even sorta dated for a while, years ago.” Katie's mind was going around, and around. She kept jumping back to conversations she had had with Oby. She couldn't settle on any time he had told her. Before she could spiral to far down the hole her mind was trying to descend into, Mythra spoke again.

“I have formed a pact with Gaia to be your diety. She is not ready to see a human at this time. She might lash out, too many years of neglect. To much down right destruction at the hands of humans, has made her just a bit feral. The pact with you will I hope calm her, while providing you with new abilities, and spells."

Mythra continued. "Thats for you to figure out. Maybe in the future if your more of a help to my chosen I will be more agreeable to helping you myself. For now return to your body, and consider what I have said. Help Bodie, and you help me. Hurt him, and nothing can protect you from my wrath.”

With a simple snap of her finger Mythra teleported Katie back to the shrine. The vertigo of changing locations only slightly worse than the one her emotions were causing. She didn’t know how to feel, or what to feel. But she knew she would have to have a talk with Oby.. no Bodie, soon.
