Good Guy (2)

Good Guy (2)

Blitz!

Whack! Whack! Whack!

"He's really amazing!"

"Skilfully knocking those guys with precise and quick attacks to the point it becomes blurry when watched by an average person."

Jade couldn't help but praise the aspiring boxer after witnessing such a scene.

"It looks like my plan to follow him worked out."

Jade said with delightfulness.

After a few minutes, Peter Lee decided to go back to his place. However, he didn't knew that there's a shadow lurking around him.

Jade waited until Peter is gone then he slowly approached the men who can't even stand up properly.

"Hey, do you want to get revenge on that guy?" Jade asked with a smile.

The trio were surprised.

"Who are you?"

"Screw off, we don't even know you."

Hearing these comments, Jade's expression immediately became serious.

"Don't push your luck, you all can't even stand up right now, what makes you think you have the right to boast here?"

The sudden change of Jade's demeanor inflicted pressure on the trio.

"What the hell? Who is this guy?"

"Looks like there's really no ordinary guy here in Mechiv City."

After a few seconds, the leader of the group suddenly asked the man in front of them.

"Why are you asking if we want revenge on that guy? Did you see what happened? If you did, what makes you think we can beat someone like that?"

Hearing these questions, Jade couldn't help but laugh. He knew that they already took the bait.

"Let's take it easy, don't throw several questions altogether. Well, I can answer that in a simple way if you want to."

"I hate the guy you just fought. As you already know, he's a very skilled boxer. I faced him when I was getting a professional boxing license but that guy crushed it all."

The trio couldn't help but fall for Jade's lies because of how sentimental he is.

"My dream to become boxer was nowhere to be seen when that guy beat me to a pulp to the point I couldn't pursue boxing anymore. I worked so hard to try a professional career but that guy didn't show mercy."

The trio can see that the man in front of them is full of hatred. They can see that Jade is expressing an anger based on his eyes alone.

"If you lost to him before, how can you help us get revenge? We literally got knocked out by something we couldn't even see." A guy from the trio asked.

"We may not be able to overpower him, but I know a weakness of him." Jade replied.

"And what is that weakness of him?"

Jade scarily smiled instantly then said,

"The death of his sister."

...

Three days passed after the incident. Peter was about to walk out to find information about the serial killer who killed his sister when someone familiar approached him.

"Hello, we're police officers and we would like to ask you something."

Officer Zed said as he approached Peter along with Raze.

Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.

"Hello, can I help you with anything?" Peter responded.

Officer Zed and Raze took a look at each other because they knew that they're about to bring up a sensitive topic for Peter Lee.

"We're here to ask something about your sister."

!!!

Hearing this, Peter immediately glared at them.

"What do you want?"

Peter coldly asked.

"Chill out, we're here to investigate the case. We may not be from Korea, but I know that you're here because someone similar to your sister's killer is here."

Officer Raze reasoned to calm Peter down.

"You know me?" Peter asked.

"Well, you're a well-known champion so it's given." Raze responded.

"Look here, we're grateful for your help with the last incident that happened here so we're hoping if you can help us in this case too?"

Officer Zed suddenly spoke up.

"We're officers dispatched here to catch criminals here. As you know, this city is their den. Honestly, we haven't able to progress much so we would really appreciate your cooperation."

After thinking for a moment, Peter finally calmed down then asked them to go inside his apartment.

After sitting down, Peter immediately asked,

"If the law in Korea couldn't catch this guy, what makes you think you can?"

The officers felt the seriousness on Peter's voice. They knew that Peter's cooperation will be based on how they answer.

The first one who spoke was Raze. She responded,

"Do you see this man here? He's a well known officer for catching criminals. We wouldn't be dispatched here if we're not competent enough."

"We promise you that we have passion in this job. If you let us investigate, you'll see our sincerity." Officer Zed followed up.

"Let me ask something if you're that determined to get my cooperation. Is the one who killed my sister the same one who appeared here?" Peter asked.

The officers knew that this question is bound to be asked if they were to face Peter.

"We're about eighty percent sure that he's the same killer from you country."

Officer Raze confidently said.

"How so? Because the method is the same? What if he's a copycat?"

Peter threw barrage of questions.

"I understand that this kind of doubts are normal so we prepared some of our arguments."

"First, after we investigated the cases that happened in Korea, we know that the culprit is a strong male. The wounds inflicted on the victim's body can't be done by a fragile man. All of the bruises are also non-weapon attacks."

"Second, the culprit tends to put same necklace on his victims right? We found out that all of the necklaces came from one shop. The necklaces found from the recent victim was also from the same shop."

Officer Zed said, laying out their information about the case.

"Why don't you investigate the shop?"

Peter asked.

"Well, it's already gone. The owner died few years ago so it's not possible to track something."

"We're also trying to match the hormones from the recent case to the cases back in Korea."

"I see, if that's really the case then I really need to catch that bastard!"

After finding out that it's highly possible that it's the same killer, Peter couldn't help but release his hatred.

The officers saw it and couldn't help but feel sad. They can saw that Peter's sister meant a lot to him so losing her is undeniably a huge pain.

After a bit of pondering, Zed suddenly spoke up,

"We know that you're here to conduct your revenge. However, you must know that this isn't a normal case. You're fighting a serial killer which is very different from what you fight in the ring."

"I know that very well, but it won't stop me from avenging my sister. I wouldn't be a well-known champion if I'm gonna lose to a psycho who killed my sister."

Hearing this, Zed knew that Peter is pretty much determined to fight until the end.

"You see, I recently encountered a criminal. Probably the most heinous I've met."

Recognizing Peter's resolve, Zed suddenly blurted out something personal.

Officer Raze was surprised, Zed is sensitive to this topic after all.

"He must've seen similarity between him and Peter if he's willing to open up that topic." Raze innerly said.

"In normal situation, we can't allow a civilian like you to get involved with our investigation but now, I know how you feel. I'll help you get revenge to this guy." Officer Zed reminded.

Hearing this, Peter couldn't hold back his smile.

"Thank you, I promise I won't hinder your investigation."

Peter happily thanked the officers.

After a few minutes, the officers decided to leave already.

"I'm grateful for everything, you're a good guy. I just hope that after this, you'll still be a good guy and at least come back from where you really belong."

Zed said with a smile on his face.

"Boxing huh? I'm not really confident to return but you can rest assured that I'll stay as a good guy."

Peter enthusiastically boasted.

Just like that, they all parted ways.

...

Knock! Knock!

A few minutes after the officers' departure, Peter, lost in contemplation, was startled by a knock on his door. He approached cautiously, the air thick with anticipation. The door creaked open, revealing a tall figure in a black mask and cap.

Suspicion danced in Peter's eyes, muscles tensing for a confrontation. Yet, the mysterious figure left a sealed box at his doorstep, a puzzle piece in the unfolding drama. Swift as a phantom, the figure disappeared into his eyesight by quickly running.

Peter didn't expect the sudden action so he couldn't even try to chase the guy. After a bit of pondering, he knelt down as he try to open the box.

"Is this some kind of prank?"

"Well, considering that I'm here in this city, I wouldn't be surprised if this is something that's related to a crime. I might have to call those officers soon."

As Peter cautiously opened the box, the contents within shattered the tranquility of the room. His dead sister's image, bound and battered, stared back at him. Emotions long buried surged to the surface, tears carving rivulets down his face.

The unexpected intrusion tore open wounds Peter thought had scarred over. Rage mixed with sorrow as Peter, clenching the photograph, roared into frustration demanding answers from the elusive figure.

Peter tried to go outside immediately but the man was nowhere to be seen. The masked man remained a specter, leaving Peter to grapple with the haunting image of his sister.
