A week later, Trazyn and Minka's mission is on the last phase, yet his relationship with Monika is still somewhat… average. At least this is what he thought. The hole on the top of the vault is almost done. They can start the mission any moment now. However, seeing Minka looking extremely tired, he decided to let her rest for a night.
Minka lays on the bed like a tired slug. She's thinking about what souvenir she can bring back, but soon she's just too tired to even think about that. She turns her head in another direction, the mere moment she opens her eyes, she sees someone. But when she sits up and looks around, there's no one to be found. Minka just scratches her head and lies on the bed again. Suddenly, she felt something click on her neck. She immediately gets up, but her head is hit by something blunt. Under reflex, she uses her psychic power, but for some reason, she can't feel the power anymore. Then someone hit her on the head again.
"Dad!" She screams but soon she remembers that Trazyn went out for preparation. Minka pushes away the person near her, she shakes her head to try to get rid of the dizziness: "You…" Minka couldn't believe what she saw: "I wiped your memory, how did you find me?"
Eula scoffs: "You seriously think that your little mind trick can do full damage to me? It did make me emotionally unstable, but I can still think clearly and therefore take you with me and make you suffer."
"Come and try then." Minka is in her fighting stance. She has the confidence to beat Eula in hand-to-hand combat.
Eula smirks, suddenly high electric voltage released from Minka's neck contraption: "No, thanks. You are still way too strong for me to take on, but after maybe half of a day, I will surely break you."
"Coward…" Minka quickly takes a knife next to her and throws it at Eula, but it only merely cuts off some strands of Eula's hair. Then Minka got shocked again, she tried to take off the contraption on her neck, but another shock welcomed her: "You will regret this… he will find you and make you into shoes."
"So annoying…" Eula shocks Minka until she submits on the ground then kicks Minka on the head, soon Minka stops responding anymore. She then carried her out and disappeared under the moonlight.
Trazyn entered the house after an hour, he immediately sensed something had gone wrong. He rushed over to Minka's room and found nothing. He found the trace of combat and Minka's dagger pinned on the wall. Not after a while, he found some strands of blue hair, he immediately realized it was Eula who had done this. He activates teleportation to Eula's mansion but finds nothing. In the mansion, there's no one, not even a servant: "Damn it." He kicked the wall next to him and the wall immediately collapsed. He's not familiar with Eula, not even mentioning where they could be. He wanted to ask Lynine, but he doubted that Lynine would know anything.
An idea crossed his mind, he teleported in front of Monika's house and started knocking on it. Soon, someone opened the door: " What…?" Monika yawns while wearing pajamas: " wait... Tarzen?!" She immediately looks awake and crosses her arm, because it is rather really easy to see her breast with those pajamas: "What... are you doing here?" Her face is slightly red.
"Monika, can I please talk to Nova? This is an emergency, someone took Minka." Trazyn looks disparate, which is rather rare.
Monika sticks her head out and looks around, then pulls Trazyn in: "Wait for me in the living room, I'll go get Nova." Monika's tone is serious, a missing person is not a small deal even in this city.
Nova walks out while half asleep, unlike Monika, Nova just wears a T-shirt and underwear while sleeping: "A missing person huh?..." She almost fell asleep again, but Monika just stuck an ice-cold towel on her face.
"Come on, sis. Minka is missing, let's help him." She then takes out a holographic device that's able to project the entire city's layout.
"I think it was Eula that took her because I found a strand of blue hair on the floor. Is there any hidden dungeon that belongs to the Lorence family?" Trazyn asks.
"Not really sure, but I know three possible locations where Minka could be taken. It's here, here, and here." Nova points her finger at the map: "Two are near each other but one is on the other side of the city. I will make haste to the furthest one, I'll use the bike. You and Monika check on the other two together, because both of them have different levels so it might take a long time." Nova doesn't talk nonsense when doing missions: "After I'm done, I'll come and help you guys."
"Sounds good." Trazyn is amazed by Nova's planning ability, while they are briefing Monika already wore her clothes and grabbed some weapons. She looks just like the time when Trazyn first met Monika.
"We'll go on my bike as well." Monika refers to the motorcycle outside of the house, and within a minute Monika prepares her bike and tells Trazyn to get on: "Just hold my waist, I drive really fast."
Trazyn holds Monika's waist tightly, it's a bit too tight that Monika's face is a bit blushing: "Ahem, alright let's go." Monika's bike went from 0-90km/h in less than three seconds, since it's late-night there's barely anyone on the street, this is why she could drive so fast.
Trazyn looks at the light of the city, some ancient memory came back to him, it was a long time ago in an Eldar craftworld, he and Elysia were investigating a situation involving stolen artifact, Trazyn was there because he needed that for his collection, so he pretends to work on the case with Elysia then planned to betray her at the end. It was the same 'feeling' he felt at least. But this time, he's going to bring back his daughter.
While Trazyn was deep in thought they had arrived: "We are at the first location." Monika's hair is a mess after taking off the helmet, so she's adjusting that: "You wanna venture alone or do it as a group?"
"Let's go together." He doesn't want Monika to get ambushed by Eula, after all, he knows that Eula is determined to kill the Terras.
"I can't believe Eula would do anything like this." Monika said while checking a corner: "She's always been one of those model students."
"Have you noticed that she has some special hatred for your family?" Trazyn asks directly.
"Yea, we knew that all along. But dozens of people want us to die every day. We kinda got used to that already." Minka shakes her head: "No dice, It's a dead-end in this house. Let's check the abandoned resupply center nearby. It's two blocks away."
Monika signs Trazyn to come under a wall: "give me a boost."
"Boost my bottom," Monika said.
"As you wish." Trazyn then proceeds to hug Monika by the thigh and lift her up.
Monika hits Trazyn by the shoulder and Trazyn drops her: "What was that?!" Her face is peach red: "Why did you grab my…. Agh." Monika is frustrated.
"You said to boost your bottom," Trazyn answered expressionlessly.
"Agh.. that's not what I meant, I meant to use your shoulder as a staircase so I can climb up on the wall." Monika signed him to do it again. This time, it went well without a problem. Soon, Trazyn also climbed over the wall.
"This place seems ominous." The abandoned yard gives Monika the creep, she pulls out her sword: "Let's go in."
"I think you should stay here." Trazyn suddenly changed his tone, lost all of that smugness or friendliness.
"No, I can't let you go in alone." Monika insisted.
"Thank you for all your help." He grins, but even Monika could feel the tension behind his smile.
"Ok." Monika nods: "Please be careful." After Trazyn enters the building, Monika also follows in.
In the basement, Minka is stranded on a cross. Her head hurts so badly, and she still can't feel any power: "You are not going to get away with this Eula."
Eula gives Minka a slap on the face: "You surely are a lousy bird aren't ya?" She takes out something from a jar, it's a worm-looking insect that makes irritating noise while being pinched: "I bet you have no idea what this is, it is called a screamer. This little thing will cause eternal pain in your head, but it will not harm you of any kind. That is of course before you kill yourself. But I want to kill you with this. So, I will put two instead of one."
Minka yawns: "Just do it already, I'm tired of hearing your scheme." She gives no respect to Eula.
Eula punches Minka in the stomach: "Do not rush me!" She then takes another screamer from the jar. Then she commands the servants to bend Minka's head sideways so she can put it in her ears.
After a minute, some sweat begins to appear from Minka's forehead, her breath pattern is getting heavier: "Not bad, I thought you would already start begging for your life." Eula holds Minka by the chin: "You look just like the Terras, this even makes me feel better."
The screamers are making a noise similar to someone drilling your skull with a power drill, she looks like she's holding well, but it's only a matter of time before Minka collapses: "Hey..." Minka whispers.
Eula looks pleased and puts her ear in front of Minka: "What~? Are you saying you are dying? Good."
Minka scoffs, but Eula doesn't realize the change of eye pattern on Minka's pupil. A beam of laser came from Minka's right eye, consequently fried Eula's ear. Eula screams and rolls on the ground due to the pain.
"You…" Eula gets up and grabs a screwdriver: "This will cost you." She stabbed it into Minka's eye like a dagger, but a millisecond before it went into her eyes. Minka suddenly ducked her head and made Eula stab in the neck contraption. The contraption was damaged and started losing its effect.
Minka activates her psychic ability and suddenly the guards in the room start dropping on the floor and blood starts coming out from their mouths. But before she could do more. Eula activates the controller, shocking Minka with an electric current making her unable to move.
"Die!" Eula stabs her dagger in Minka's chest. But she felt something strange when the dagger went in, instead of flesh, she felt something hard under Minka's skin. She stabbed again and again until the dagger was broken. Eula falls to the ground and looks at Minka with horror: "What… are you?"
Seeing this, Minka pulls off the metal chain that was restraining her arm with raw force and then pulls off the contraption on her neck. This is the rare moment Minka's expression looks dire: "You could've lived, but now you have to die. But it's not like it matters." Minka gives Eula a spin kick and Eula's head is on the other side of the room.
Minka found some bandage to wrap around her chest, blood came out, but she didn't look bothered. She then activated her psychic ability to pull out her screamers and squashed them on the ground. Minka's expression is different, more different than the time when she realized the betrayal of Trazyn. Her expression is cold, not human-like. The room's walls start shaking and Minka walks out of the basement. Soon the whole basement collapsed. When she got out, she saw Nova looking at her with surprise.
Minka didn't say anything, she walked past Nova and started heading towards the vault. Nova didn't move, because her instinct tells her that the moment, she even moved an inch, Minka would kill her. After Minka is out of sight she finally moves again and starts calling Monika. Instead of telling her the truth, she said that her place was empty, and told Monika to meet her up at their house.
"I hope you know what you are doing…" Nova looked up to the sky and let out a long sigh.
Minka enters the vault as if no one is defending it, all humans or machines either fall into unconsciousness or are disabled before even near her. She got the chronosphere and the blueprint in less than half an hour. Her expression is still blank as if the Minka from an hour ago didn't exist. Soon, Minka found Trazyn still wandering in the abandoned supplier center.
"Let's go." Minka pulls out her time travel device.
"Did you get hurt? My… how did you even get out?" Trazyn is concerned about the wound.
"Doesn't matter. I've got what we came for."
Trazyn holds Minka by the arm: "Are you sure? You don't seem… normal." Trazyn doesn't do a full-body scan on Minka because he never needed to. So, he never knew that Minka is not as simple as Trazyn thought.
"WAIT!" Monika runs toward them: "You guys are leaving?... But..." Monika looks a bit sad.
Minka's eyes and palm start glowing with golden light. Seeing this Trazyn holds Minka's hand before she could do anything: " We are sorry... But it's time for us to leave…" The reason Trazyn said that is because he told Monika that they are time travelers while chatting: "It was fun, for the past three months."
Monika runs forward and hugs Trazyn tight: " I hope we will meet soon."
"We will… For sure." Trazyn lightly pats Monika's head.
Minka then proceeds to activate the time travel device, the destination is two days away from when they left. While the device is charging, Monika waves her hand to bid farewell. Trazyn nods, but Minka doesn't look right. Before the moment the device activates, the sky further starts glowing with yellow light, and eventually, he could feel the earth shake before Trazyn could do anything. They've already left.
When they arrived, Trazyn grabbed Minka by the shoulder and stared with blame and anger: "WHY?! We could've saved her! "
Minka dodges the piercing stare, she looks away: "I am sorry, but a rule is a rule."
"I am asking you how you could you?! Damn it Minka. That was your mother!"
A teardrop shed from Minka's eye: " Sacrifice. That's what you taught me, our actions always have a price, and in order to save our own, one world must be gone."
"You still didn't answer my question." Trazyn almost lost himself, he shook Minka with force.
Minka purposely picked the timeline where it will be destroyed shortly after the arrival: "Branched timeline will cause immediate chaos. If the people in those timelines created time travel, then it will cause unforeseeable results. What's the difference between you letting a world be destroyed eventually or choosing the world that was at least somewhat pleasant before an unforeseeable disaster?" Due to the shake, Minka's bandage has fallen off. exposing some part of her flesh, under it is the glowing blue light.
"You… this is…the marking of Anrakyr the traveler..." Trazyn is a bit confused, why does Minka have a body that has the marking with the traveler.
Minka activates her ability, her wound is healing at a speed that can be observed by naked eyes: " Sorry I didn't tell you, dad. But… your genetic engineering wasn't perfect. My body could not handle the time travel while being able to keep my strong psychic ability. No one can."
"But… Why him?"
"He was the only one who was willing to help me, in exchange for eliminating anything that would threaten the Necron race." Minka finally looks Trazyn in the eyes: "I am so sorry… I know you might be so disappointed in me now… But I really missed you. You always have been my hero... I am so sorry… you wanted me to have a simple and safe life but… the only thing I want is to be with you."
Trazyn hugs Minka, he doesn't say anything. Because he's conflicted. On the one hand, he was proud of what Minka accomplished, but he also blames himself for putting Minka at risk.
"Trazyn?"
"Trazen?"
Two familiar voices appear from behind Trazyn, he turns and sees Monika in blond hair, and next to her it's Lanaya, one of the witches of sins. Both looked at him and each other after they called his name.
Two days earlier, Monika was scouting around in the city. She did not remember anything about any companion besides Vegas. If she has to be honest, the phyrexian did a better job at organizing the city. For example, the air is somehow fresher than before, the food supply in the market and food stores are ample. At some point, she has some conflicted feelings. As a soldier, her job is to protect the people. But from what she's seen people are living in harmony with the phyrexian. But it's still too early to give a conclusion.
Monika goes to a stand and buys some sugary treats; she's still amazed that the old shops weren't torn apart by the war. Suddenly, her shoulder was tapped by a person from behind: "Hey, nice choice on your treat. What is the name of this little cake?"
"They are rose cakes; most people think they are too sugary. But I think it's just on point." She refers to Trazyn. Monika is still a bit unhappy about Trazyn's opinion on her favorite food.
This girl that talked to Monika is wearing a long black robe, her eyes are black but the whole outline in her eyes looks magical, the most significant feature has to be the snow-white facial hairs: " Can I please try some? I don't really want to buy something I am not familiar with."
Monika nods and proceeds to give her a rose cake, the white-haired girl loves it: "Oh, my. These taste divines! My apology, but I still haven't introduced myself. My name is Lanaya."
"Monika Terra." They shook hands.
"Ms. Terra, you have some beautiful blond hair. And incredibly soft hands. Sorry if I sounded a bit weird but that's just my problem." Lanaya faintly smiles.
Monika was a bit weirded out but considering all of the things she's seen, this isn't the worst: "It's fine, by the way Lanaya what do you do? The book you are holding is quite… heavy."
"Ah, this is my sketchbook, I do some wildlife sketches sometimes." Lanaya isn't shy to talk about her hobby: "Do you want to see it?"
"Sure." Seeing the sketchbook, Monika was convinced that the drawing is somewhat alive. As if they were reduced to a 2D creature.
"I hope my boyfriend will like this as a gift, in a few more days it's our one month's anniversary." Lanaya refers to Trazyn. But Monika has no idea who Lanaya was referring to, Monika thought maybe she should buy or even make something for Trazyn. It is almost their two years anniversary after all. She can't believe that she knew Trazyn for this long already.
"Your boyfriend is a lucky person," Monika said in a congratulatory tone. Thinking about this, she wants to find Trazyn as soon as possible. She missed him so much.
"You are a good person. I can tell that you just lost someone important in your life. I am sorry about that."
"Lost? No, I was going to find him." Monika is a bit confused.
"No, not who I was talking about. Your friend. A white-haired girl who you dislike but depend on." Lanaya has the ability of a fortune teller.
"I don't really know anyone who has white hair… maybe my mom but I think that's not who you were talking about." Monika now is very confused.
"Strange, could that be that I made a mistake? But it never happened before. But anyway, do you want to join me for a cup of tea? I might go do some sketches as well." Lanaya proposed.
"Maybe another time… But next time we meet, I'll surely join you. I really need to go now." Monika wants to get back to Trazyn.
"Alright then, I guess I'll see you around." Lanaya bid farewell to Monika.
Monika later arrives at a car rental service place, she subconsciously touches her pocket to pretend to pull out her wallet, but in reality, she just uses the crimson daemon ability to bring it out from the pocket dimension. But this time, there's a wallet in her jacket pocket and she hasn't noticed.
Monika paid for the car with her own money and while she's waiting for the preparation, she checks the strange wallet in her pocket. There is some cash and an ID card. It's written by Ria Ivor, Captain of the 102nd ground force. Monika searches for this information in her mind but she can't recall a captain with this name. That again she's already seen many people and most of them just jump over her head most of the time. Probably the military already filed a missing person report. Monika throws this wallet into her interdimensional pocket. She didn't put too much thought into it. But the word from Lanaya got into her mind.
While driving to another city, Monika kept thinking about a person that she dislikes but depends on. Maybe Nova? No, Monika never really disliked her, she's more disappointed by Nova's choice. Trazyn? She can depend on him but it's love that connects the two of them. After going through some names, Monika eventually gave up.
While on the small village road, Monika sensed something had gone wrong. The road is filled with black sticky liquid, Monika stops the car and decides to investigate. The liquid on the ground doesn't have any smell but it surely is sticky.
Monika crouches down and takes out a small test tube to collect some samples, while doing that she suddenly feels some regular tremor and looks like coming straight towards her. Monika pulls out her sword and is ready to take on whatever is coming to her.
But when it rushed out from the forest, she immediately realized it was a bad idea. Four meters tall ork that's reeking with the black ooze as if it is melting from inside. It's making some unrecognizable noise but seems like it will not stop until it tears Monika apart.
Instead of using a sword, Monika immediately pulls out a hand cannon and shoots it directly to its head. But it barely did anything, Monika started running while shooting at its legs so it would slow it down. Even the hand cannon blasts off the flesh, within seconds it starts to regenerate. Monika used to deal with enemies like this, but right now, she doesn't have either the speed or strength to instantly slice off the head of that ork.
"Vegas a little help please." Monika dashes into the bush and keeps running away, but she can hear the trees start to fall, and seems like it is still chasing her.
" Analyze complete, best solution... Run."
"No shit, anything more feasible?"
"Throw a plasma grenade in the following direction: North, southwest, and east."
Monika did what she was told, but when the tree crashed into the ork, it barely even flinched: "Good job, it did absolutely nothing. I am running off stamina here, if I die, I'll make sure to throw you into the monster's mouth first!"
"Duck ! " Monika suddenly heard a voice, she lowered her head and a harpoon passed above her and pinned directly to the ork's knee.
Another harpoon pinned directly to its head, and it finally stopped: "Quick, throw a c-foam grenade on its head." Monika did so with flawless precision. The harpoon then exploded, resulting in the ork's head shattering into pieces due to the shock from the explosion.
"Nice trick," Monika shouted in the direction of the voice.
" Trick? That's pure skill." Monika recognizes that voice: "Hello, red."
"Maverick? What? How are you here?" Monika is surprised. She never expected to meet Maverick in this place. She leaps forward and gives him a hug.
"Did I get taller or did you shrink?" He mockingly pats Monika's head.
"Ha ha." Replied with a sarcastic tone: "But I did lose my enhancement. So now, I am stuck with a body which can perish easily. "
"So, that's why you were shooting instead of slicing the monster's head off. How have you been, red?" He changed his tone to a concerning one.
"It's ok, I was in the city and, to be honest, the phyrexian managed the city pretty well." Monika is still too simple.
"You don't understand, do you?" Maverick shook his head: "They killed Nova and worst of all, those black oozes are the direct result of the phyrexian. These things rust metal and consume flesh wherever they go."
Monika can't really argue against that, she saw what the black ooze can do to a creature as tough as a green ork: "So, what now? I need to go to the city nearby. Trazyn is there."
"You can't, I mean it's pretty impressive that you got yourself a wig, but the phyrexians will kill anyone who has red hair and green eyes. Because of a direct order from the top. Frankly, you." Maverick packs the tool in the bag: " If you are sooooo determined then I guess I can't really stop you. Just be careful."
"Thank you, Maverick." Monika gave him a pat on the arm, and she ran back to her car.
"Vegas?" Monika asks: "How far away are we to the destination?"
"In about twelve hours by driving. I suggest we find a hotel and rest." The day is getting dark, and Monika hasn't been able to eat any dinner yet.
"Fine, I need to take a shower anyway." There's also some ooze stain on her clothes but that's not a problem since she has plenty of spare clothes stored.
Soon, they found a decent motel, surprisingly this world is still using imperial credit. Guess the phyrexian didn't have their own currency yet. While in the bath, Monika sinks her head in the water. She has had this habit for a long time. She believes that this will help her think better, as under the water there's less noise outside. Normally she could hold her breath for dozens of minutes but after losing her enhancement, she can only do a maximum of two minutes.
"Soaking yourself in the water will not reduce the noise, in fact…" Before Vegas could finish, Monika threw a small bottle of shampoo towards the cufflink: "Roger that, I will leave you alone."
Monika is a simple person, compared to the ambition of Nova or the persistence of Trazyn, Monika is no match for any of it. Despite her trying her best, it always seemed like at one point or another she gained help from others. However, Monika didn't realize that she's the type of person who can gather people around her. And none of them remotely think Monika is useless. She never knew how many times she saved people like Nova and Trazyn just by being herself.
After an hour, she got out of the bath. Compared to before she seemed skinner, but it still didn't affect her proportion, she still possesses the body that many are jealous of. She put on some clothes and sat beside the window; it is a small village so there's not a lot of people outside. She sees a couple holding hands with each other again, this event happened as well when she lost Trazyn. The look of Monika is rather tasteful. After all she's the type of person who would get jealous of her daughter for being too close to Trazyn.
Monika jumps on the bed and hides her head under the pillow. The feeling of jealousy is making her uncomfortable. It's like every part of her body is burning and is forcing her to leave the hotel. But in the end, she managed to calm herself down.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"If I may…"
"You may not, it's my feeling. Your physical analysis is useless here. Also, stop scanning me when I don't want to." Monika is in a bad mood.
"I am sorry, but lord Trazyn programmed me to do so, the purpose is to make sure you are good and well." Vegas replies.
Monika didn't respond to that, but this answer did improve her mood by just a bit. She turned off the light and went to sleep. On the second day, she took an early shower and was ready for the road. But her stomach started tumbling: "Your muscle and fat density has been in a deprived state, I suggest you consume some real food instead of a sugary dessert. The hand feel when handling your bo-"
Monika's expression looks terrifying: "This is your last warning. If you make any suggestion regarding my physical state, I will throw you into the pocket dimension and leave you there FOREVER."
"I am sorry if I offended you, but I am programmed to say something that lord Trazyn would say."
"He will not."
"He definitely would."
Monika throws Vegas into the pocket dimension and heads towards breakfast. It is at that place she sees a familiar figure.
"Oh hey, Monika." Lanaya greets Monika: " What a coincidence that we meet at this place? The food here is okay if you are wondering."
"Hi, I was going to grab it anyway. I know I promised to come with you for your painting, but I still have that emergency matter at hand." She scratches the back of her arm: " I still need to get to the city nearby."
"You should've said that earlier, I can teleport you there, you know? But you need to come with me for my sketch first. Is it a deal?" Lanaya blinks cutely: "The reason I asked is that I want to sketch you in a beautiful scene. You have artistic features and I want to capture that."
"I don't know…"
"It will be fast, I promise."
"Fine... but let's grab breakfast first." Monika ordered a soup and a piece of bread: "You ate already?"
"No, but I don't eat the food here. I am not hungry by the way. So do whatever pleases you." Lanaya sits across Monika and looks at her in a weirdly affectionate way.
Monika feels chilling down her spine, she lowers her head and solely focuses on the food. She knows that people around her usually look at her in a way that makes Monika feel annoyed but the gaze from Lanaya is something different as if she wants to open you up and look at you from inside.
"I am done…" After dragging the eating for so long, Monika finally gathered her courage and said so.
Lanaya snaps her finger and suddenly Monika sits on the ground in an instant. Monika rubs her butt as the landing was not soft. She stands up and looks around, it is grassland that she doesn't recognize. When she turns to Lanaya, she's already had her stool ready and her book open.
It was at this moment, a flash of blue lightning struck not far away from them. Monika looks at the sky, there's not even a single cloud: " We should investigate."
Lanaya doesn't look very happy, but in the end, she followed her as well. In a small crater, Minka and Trazyn are there.
Monika and Lanaya look at each other, both are very confused about what is going on, but Lanaya seems to have realized something. She immediately summoned a dome that locked Monika inside. Knowing Monika is secure, she fixed her eyes on Minka: "You…." Her tone is full of anger.
Minka smirks, she's at her peak power now: "Yes, me. Are you ready to die like the slug and fatty?" She refers to the two other members of the court witches.
"Silence!" A blast of white energy released from her hand, but it got deflected like a stream trying to push away a boulder.
Minka's body starts to hover in the air, she snaps her finger and Lanaya feels something just stomped on her shoulder but in reality, there's nothing.
"You are not getting away this time. You will pay for what you've done." Golden lightning blazes through the sky, within a single point of finger by Minka. The lightning struck Lanaya like she was made of lightning rod: "Your magic is no place for true power."
While they are fighting, Trazyn already breaks the dome and grabs Monika by the hand: "Let's go before this gets out of control."
"Traz…" Monika held her tears and she just replied with a nod. They ran behind a hill and from there they could see the fight and remain in a safe distance.
"Alright…" Trazyn looks back at Monika but the first thing he receives is Monika's lips sticking on his. Monika couldn't hold her tears anymore, but this time it was happiness. Even a world-breaking fight is happening not far away from her she just couldn't care less. Even if the world gets destroyed right away, she wouldn't care less. Because this time she's with the man she loves the most in this world.
Trazyn would've said something uneventful but this time he didn't, because of what Minka had done in the last time travel. He felt the feeling of losing an important person in his life, and he does not want to lose another one. But this little moment is stopped by a huge shock wave that came from where Minka was.
Monika and Trazyn peek from the top of the hill, Minka is still hovering in the air, looking down at the big crater on the ground. Her expression is terrifying, the emotionless visage hidden with endless killing intent. A black sword manifested from her hand; it is made of black steel armor that was worn by Lanaya.
Monika bites her lips and looks at Minka worriedly. She turned to Trazyn and he replied with a nod.
"Why are you hunting us like this...? We are like you who just lost our world..." Lanaya said while sounding strengthless.
"You shouldn't have come to other worlds by conquering in the first place. Also, you messed with my family." Minka's sword is ready to strike Lanaya's heart.
"Wait!" Monika stands between Minka's sword and Lanaya.
"Mom? What are you doing? This is not a time for being a saint. She murdered your sister, she's one of the reasons that we lost this world."
"Minka, we can't kill her like this." Trazyn said: "It would set off an alarm to Glissa, I do not think we have the power to even remotely face her yet."
Minka lands on the ground walking past Monika. The tension between these two has never been greater. She then stepped on Lanaya's face: " Tell us how we can get rid of the piece of shit master of yours?"
"Like hell, I would tell you… if you don't let me go, the other courts' members will soon realize I am missing. Then… heh." Lanaya scoffs: "Also, Monika. Your daughter is a murderer, we could've changed the world for a better place but just because of her, we have no choice but to leave it once we are done sacking all the resources." She coughs when she gazes into Trazyn's eyes: "Trazyn, I can't believe you actually fooled me… you are really a really bad… person. After all of those nights, we spent together gazing towards the star... I just have one question… Were all of the moments a lie?"
Trazyn replied in a simple yet chilling tone: "I was never interested in you. The moments we shared were all tools for me to achieve my goals. You are simply an object that can be replaced-" Monika suddenly grabs Trazyn's arm and signs him to stop. What he said is truly harmful, especially for a sensitive person like Monika. Deep inside at some point, these words were Monika's fear in the past. It is not reassuring that she heard these words coming out from Trazyn's mouth even though it wasn't for her.
Minka puts a device on Lanaya, a similar device to the one that Eula used on Minka: "These should help to nullify her magic power. We should probably put her in jail or another dimension." She then looks at Monika.
"What do you mean? Wait… is that even possible? I have never tried it before." Monika blinks her eyes.
"I could do it, there's really isn't any difference compared to putting items in your dimensional pocket. But the only problem is that sometimes it feels like the living objects are talking to you, but in reality, it never does." Minka explains: "I've imprisoned dozens of people before, but it's all gone since DAD took away my power." She emphasizes the word dad because she wants Monika to punish him.
"You think you can imprison me? My colleagues will free me and that day it's your doom!" Lanaya screams before being sucked into the pocket dimension.
"Wait, what happened if she cast a spell or something?" Monika suddenly realized something bad.
"Won't be a problem, it is a different realm which has different rules to this world, she's basically as harmless as a goldfish now. Minka suddenly got close to Monika: "Speaking of which, I sensed something wrong with your memory... Huh? Seems like there are two patches. Do you want me to remove them?"
"Two? I thought I only lost memory once."
"The second one is rather recent… I'll dispatch it anyway." Minka utilizes her power, and not after long it is finished.
But Monika just suddenly fainted unconsciously. Trazyn looks at Monika, physically she's fine: "Is it normal that people faint after restoring memory?"
"Faint? Not only do they faint, but this will also open the person's appetite severely, so I suggest we buy some food while mom is sleeping." Minka seems to know a lot of things about this.
"Why is that?"
"Don't know, I am not a Ph.D. in memory restoration so don't expect too many answers from me."
Trazyn shakes his head, this is such human behavior to abuse or utilize the power they don't even understand yet. He then activates the teleportation and porters all of them back home. Trazyn gently puts Monika on the bed but when he's about to leave, she grabs Trazyn's hand. She doesn't look to have woken up, perhaps that's what the subconsciousness's reaction is?
Seeing Monika behave like this, he couldn't really help but stay with her for the time being. Even though Noel is still locked in the basement of Lanaya's castle, however, he thought about it and she will be fine for the time being. This goes the same for Trazyn, it is these kinds of little moments that he found in this world that are worth saving.
"Dad~" Minka peeks from the door: "Can I come in?" Her tone is weird.
"What do you want?"
"Do you mind if you can… you know scooch away…" Minka sees Monika in her vulnerable state, she can't help but feel like doing something mischief. She sits next to Trazyn and half lying on the bed. She then put Monika's head on her lap.
"What are you doing?" Trazyn still doesn't know half of the thing Minka is thinking every day.
Minka pinches Monika's face and rubs it with her hands: "I always wondered how she got such good skincare." She then stretches Monika's face.
"Probably, because she eats less junk food than you do."
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that, whatever hurtful thing you say it's not going to ruin my mood." Minka is apparently having fun. She then smugly opens the buttons on Monika's shirts: "This is fun, I can do whatever I want to her."
"Alright, this is enough." Trazyn grabs Monika like a doll and lets her lean on his shoulder: "You have more important work to do, also she's your mother. Have some respect for her."
Minka puffs up her cheeks in anger: "So, only you can do whatever you want to her?!"
"You really need to be careful of your wordings… also this is getting embarrassing. Can you bring Noel back from Lanaya's castle and we might as well have a bigger dinner? Also, Erin is at the resistance camp…." Trazyn is asking Minka to do some favors.
"No way. Too much favor, next time if she has gone into a situation like this. I'll take care of her. Deal?" Minka alpha poses.
"Fine… have it your way…" Trazyn gave up, this daughter of his surely has some strange hobby. But Trazyn still didn't realize what Minka wants is simply some parental love. Being childish and arguing with parents apparently counts as a family activity.
"Traz.." Monika groans, her head is bursting and hurts.
"Yes, dear?" Trazyn holds Monika's hand.
"I am hungry…"
"What do you want to eat?"
"Remember the chicken soup you made the first time we met?... Would be nice..." Even after knowing Trazyn for this long, she's still not inclined to ask favor from Trazyn.
"Is that what you want at dinner with everyone?"
"No… just before that... I want to have it with you. Just the two of us."
Minka teleports inside the castle of Lanaya. As the layout map given by Trazyn, she didn't encounter any traps or foes. She stands before the basement door. When she's about to open the door. A sudden flash of instinct tells her to not open it. Instead, she unleashed an energy blast.
The door shattered into dozens of pieces. There, she sees Noel's pods, she seems to be fine. But next to it is a person. Minka immediately recognized the outfit and the hair color: " You... " Minka's nerve is tense, from the blood mist ability she last used, Minka doesn't feel like she has a hundred percent chance of walking out here as a whole.
"What's your name?" Her face is as grim as a dead person's.
"Minka Infinite"
"Lies, try again."
"Believe it or not, that's my name. I…" A sword flew past Minka's cheek, slightly cut's her on the face. Minka didn't even see that move coming. The sword where it touched Minka's blood starts glowing in white light.
"You are a Terra, you must be."
Minka feels like maybe this is not the time to be a smartass: "I am Minka Terra. Daughter of Monika Terra and Trazyn the Infinite."
"Monika...my sweet daughter."
"Wait… daughter? Are you..." Minka whispers: " Lady Maria? The legend of the Astral extinguisher?"
"You have Terra's blood… yet you are different... So, you can't be the 'torch' we are looking for..." Maria looks a bit disappointed: " You are here for the god slayer?"
"Yes?...by the way... Can I call you grandma? " Minka's unserious side shows again.
"A tainted being such as yourself dares to claim family ship with me?" Maria's eyes are blazing in anger: "You do not have pure Terra blood!" A bolted pistol shot at Minka, yet Minka just disassembled the bullet with her mind.
Minka is determined to beat Maria so her mom and grandma would meet again: " Why didn't you find mom? She misses you even after so many years."
"Monika is not your mother, she will not create a freak like you!" Maria's anger can be seen easily. Yet Minka senses that this is not only about the bloodline problem. There's more reason for Maria's action.
Minka pulls out a necrodermis lance, it can change its shape by the will of the wielder, perfect for the user like Minka: "I do not wish to fight you, but I want you to meet with mom. At least explain yourself to her. You owe her that much."
"I will cut your tongue off!" Maria's swordsmanship is beyond Monika's every strike on Minka is full of killing intent, if Minka made a slight Mistake on how to handle the blows she would definitely lose a part of her body. Minka separates them with a psychic blast.
Minka is not the best melee user, but she's still quite formidable after some berserk attack from Maria: "Lady Maria please, hate me as you wish but Monika is innocent. You need to go and see her. Also, where is Miller?"
A sudden shadow walk is unleashed from Maria, she pushes Minka on the wall and grabs her by the collar when she's about to swing her fist to hit Minka's head. A flash of the old memory came back to her. It was when Nova and Monika were still five. They were in a garden and Nova took Monika's doll, Miller was standing back teaching them to share, while Maria was just sitting on a bench not far away eating a homemade sandwich. But she soon snapped back to reality and threw Minka on the ground: " Leave, if I ever see you again, I will kill you and the monster that tainted my daughter."
"That's not happening because I will not leave without you." Golden light outlines Minka's pupils, the room is blazed with golden light while Maria covers her eyes to not be blinded, Minka then unleashes a blast of psychic energy that would normally break a person's atomic structure. But when the blast hit, Minka immediately realized that it was an illusion. A trick similar to Monika's doppelganger.
Minka suddenly feels immense pain coming from her back, she reacts quickly so the sword doesn't reach her vitals, but blood starts leaking out from the wound, her purple dress starts to be stained by blood. Minka realizes at this rate she's not going to make it. But the will to reunite the family is still making her stand on her ground. She forces the wound to seal with her psychic ability. But this process will also put her in great pain.
"Even though you are a tainted creature, you have the spirit of Terra."
"Who the hell cares!" Minka is fed up with the bloodline bullshit: "If you care about the family bloodline this much then correct me! Stay with your daughters so they will live happily and fit with your bullshit agenda!"
"You know nothing about my struggles, I am saving the world!" Maria's shout silenced the whole room: " I left because I wanted to protect my daughters and my husband, but the world doesn't allow me to have everything!" She points her sword at Minka: " You don't understand the meaning of the sacrifice, do you? Every single day I wanted to meet her but knowing the moment I appeared my daughter would not let me leave, thus drawing the attention of the beings on the back scene. This is the same reason that I cannot let you leave, you have seriously pissed me off."
Minka suddenly had her signature smirk on her face: "Perfect, I did not intend to do that as well." While talking to Maria, Minka secretly activated the release protocol of the pod, resulting in awakening Noel.
Noel crawls on the ground and eventually, she stands up but she's not in her perfect state: " Misses Terra? What in the world..?" But right after Noel's body starts moving by itself and it is out of her control.
"I command thee!" Minka cast an ability that allows her to fully control a person for a period of time, but it only works when someone is weakened: " Transform! Godslayer!"
A blazing white light covers Noel, and she has become the god slayer. Minka points at Maria: "Take her down. No mercy."
As Noel is fighting with Maria, Minka quickly stabs her lance on the ground to create the dome that no one gets in or gets out. She will not let Maria leave not until she submits. Noel was decommissioned due to the invasion; she was holding the entire frontline of the phyrexian force by herself. But the moment she was taken down, the planet's defense did not pose a great threat to the phyrexian force.
Minka knows how to fight Monika, but she has no idea about Maria. But from the way Maria fights, Minka can figure out that at some point Monika's fighting style varies from her mother's. Thus, Minka has come up with a plan to try to take down Maria.
As Noel sends dozens of blades towards Maira, Minka sees her chance and throws a restraining rope at Maria's feet. But Maria throws the dagger mid-air and cuts it off before it can reach her. This move also drew Maria's attention to Minka.
But this is what Minka wanted, she stared Maria into the eyes and while Maria charged towards her, she muttered: "I am sorry." Suddenly, Maria fainted on the ground and stopped moving. What Minka did was stop the electric activity inside of a human body for less than half and second, it will have a similar effect as when someone was shocked by extreme electricity. The goal was to disrupt the neuron activity inside a human body and Minka executed it flawlessly.
The fight is finished, and Noel is freed from Minka's control. She returned to her normal form, but soon realized she was completely naked. Her face is bright red and is looking for clothes everywhere: "Here." Minka threw a t-shirt and pants at Noel.
"Who are you…?" Noel saw everything but she just couldn't control her body.
"The name is Minka. Minka Terra." She tied Maria like a bag of fish. This way she will not try to wiggle her way out.
"Terra?... Ah, you must be the daughter of Monika and Trazyn!" Noel is really glad to meet Minka, she heard so many stories from Monika about how awesome her daughter is.
Minka chuckles: "In the flesh, by the way do you know anything about lady Maria?"
"Yea, she invited me for dinner before. Really nice lady." Noel confusedly looks at Maria: "Why is she here? I thought she was on Admiral Spire's ship."
"No idea, but let's go back first." Minka then opened the portal back home. The moment they entered the living room, all they saw was a mess.
"Oh hey, you guys are back!" Monika's face is pure red, while Trazyn is buried in a bunch of clothes.
"What did you guys do?" Minka frowns but after seeing how messy Monika's clothes are, she kinda grasped the essence of truth: "Never mind, mom, look who this is?" She throws Maria on the floor. Like just came back from hunting.
"Mom?..." Monika immediately pulls out a knife and unbound Maria: "Is this really you?" She holds Maria's face and swipes off the smudge. Then Monika buried her head on Maria's chest. She can't believe the reunion that she has been waiting for just came in like this.
Maria just gently pads Monka on the back and whispers: " Yes, sweety… I am sorry for leaving you two for this long…." A shed of tears drops from Maria's eyes, her heart is as painful as if it's bleeding due to the pain of having her body forcefully stopped and mixed with the feeling of being reunited with her daughter again. She scans the room with her eyes, but this time when she looks at Minika there's no hatred or any negative emotion. She's glad that she was bound by Minka to this place. Maybe this is something that she should have done a really long time ago. It is ironic that a military legend is fearful to confront her own family.
"I think these two need a moment..." Trazyn talks to Noel and Minka. And three of them left the room. But outside every single one of them was sticking their ear on the door.
There are too many things in Monika's head that she has no idea how to start, Maria seems to understand this perfectly. She just gently pats Monika's hair bangs: " You still act like when you are little, every time your dad and I come back from work, you always need us to help you to get the words out. Nova was way better at this, but she's more of the active type. So, sweety, where is Nova?"
Monika shakes her head: "I don't know... People say she died but I don't believe that."
"I also don't believe that as well. We will find her, alright?" Maria seemed rather fast to go back to the mother role. This doesn't feel like a mother who has disappeared for more than a decade.
"Mom, I met someone special, and I think it's going really well…" Monika whispers: "Do you... Approve us?"
Maria of course knows this person is a necron overlord that has done countless crimes against humanity, but he doesn't seem to be harming her daughter. But at the end of the day, it is up to Monika to choose who to spend the rest of her life with: "I think he's quite good... I also met your daughter. She's... Interesting."
"She's really a character, right?" Monika beams with happiness: "But for some reason, I can't really bond with her that well."
"That's because you haven't been through your motherhood with her. You need to see them grow up then teach them almost everything about the world. Then you leave them when you think they are ready. It is sad but this is life." Maria motherly grins: "To you, she's more like a female friend. So, it is natural that you don't really feel comfortable for her to call you mother."
"But Traz… they seem to be bonding so well." Monika couldn't hide her jealousy.
"He's not a human, to him Minka is more like his creation. Like Mr. Cyclops you made when you were a child."
"Mom! Don't mention that!" Monika is very embarrassed.
Outside of the door, one knows what Maria was talking about, one is drowned in cuteness, and another is rather full of respect towards Maria. It takes some strong determination for people to leave everything they care about to fulfill one's goal. In this case, Maria is trying to shield the world from dangers that cannot be seen or comprehended by normal people.
"So... are you going to stay with us?" Monika finally decided to ask the question.
"Sweety…. I hate to lie to you..."
"I understand."
Maria is rather surprised: " I thought you would hate me for leaving you again…"
"No, I wouldn't… I am a grown-up girl now. I know it is hard to make a choice between family and something grander. Nova took this path and I hated her for it. But at the end of the day, I realized that she did it for me-"
Maria suddenly hugs Monika tightly: "Please… stop talking... I am not ready for you to be grown-up like this…." Maria's voice is choked in sadness: "I missed so much of your life, forgive my weakness... I am not ready... "
"Mom…" Monika tries her best to hold the tears from pouring out.
"Daddy and I are very proud of you, to both of you." Maria doesn't want to let go, even though she knows that if she stays any longer the higher up will find out and endanger her daughter.
They talked for a really long time then Monika seemed to be falling asleep due to exhaustion. Maria then leans forward and leaves a gentle kiss on Monika's forehead.
After seeing Monika asleep, Maria silently walks out of the room and gently closes the door: "You are a good mother." Trazyn said.
"I don't need approval from a person like you. But..." Maria looks at Trazyn in seriousness: " If my daughter loves you then there has to be a good reason for that, and I trust her judgment. Please, take care of her."
"With my life."
Maria nods in reassurance. Then she just ran out of the house at full speed. Trazyn walked into Monika's room. And sits beside her. He sees Monika buried her head in the blanket and the tears seemingly have already wet the outer part.
Trazyn didn't say anything, he just sat beside her. Time like this Monika requires a companion that could share her feelings. Trazyn understands that this is how he sees his relationship with Monika, there is no need for heart-shattering romance that would make the toughest man drop his knees, nor require the story that would make any novelist frustrated due to their lack of imagination. Just a simple companionship that's willingly partaken by both parties to spend with each other until one's life ends. So far, the favorite expression that Trazyn learned as a human is: Till death do us part.
"Dad, we got Erin." Minka and Noel came back from the resistance HQ: "Where is Maria?"
"She left, in a good way. Why don't you prepare the food for our guests?" Trazyn decided to stay with Monika for the time being.
Minka sips the lollipop in her mouth and off to the kitchen: "We'll also help!" Noel and Erin followed in.
"So… who's Mr. Cyclops?"
"Traz!." Monika seems super embarrassed to even by mentioning its name.
"Alright, are you feeling better?"
Monika nods and gets up from the bed. She went to the bathroom to wash off the tear trace on her face. She stares at herself in the mirror, quietly. For some reason the moment she met her mother she felt more distanced than she thought she would be. Monika realized that maybe it is not her mother that she misses but the uncompleted childhood that she felt bitter about. Maybe this also applies to Minka. A call for dinner from the dining room pulled Monika back to reality. She's got all she wants, a caring lover, a good friend, and a daughter that makes her proud. She can't really ask for a better life. Her memory has come back, and she knows about what happened to Ria. She will find her and put an end between her and her brother.
After dinner, Monika and Trazyn went out to prepare for the fight. This just leaves Minka with Noel and Erin. If Noel is honest, she's more interested in Minka than Monika. Not only does this mean that she's going to be an aunt, but also because there's something about Minka that keeps grabbing Noel's attention.
"So… Minka~ Do you want to go out for some sweets?" Noel awkwardly asks.
"What kind?" Minka is interested.
"I don't know, I guess we will see each other on the spot."
Minka looked at the ceiling and shrugged: " Sure why not, it's not like mom and dad want to have fun with us."
"So... Your mom is Monika, right? Did I do a good job taking care of you?" Noel grabs Minka's arm. They are walking parallel while Erin just follows behind enjoying the scene.
"If i have to be honest, you took care of me better than mom..." Minka didn't lie: "So, you and aunty Erin are probably my second closest person in my life."
Minka seems to be a bit shy around Noel and Erin, even though she's been through a lot with them but meeting them when they are younger does prove to be a bit different: "I am sorry if I did something rude to you. Especially when I controlled you to fight Maria."
"Are you kidding? You made Monika reunite with her mother. What you've done can't be more correct. Also… i really like you, for some reason you smell really nice."
Minka immediately creeped out, but this is Noel. So, she just laughed off the awkwardness: "So… what are we going to get exactly?" It's time to change the subject.
"Just follow the big sis Noel and you'll be fine." Noel beams with energy.
"I am older than you..."
"But you are cuter, so that makes me a big sis."
"Alright..." Minka scoffs, Noel is still full of nonsense even at this point.
While shopping with Noel, Minka is more like her mother. Most of the time she just quietly nods and smiles. Erin approaches Minka: "Hey.. Thank you so much for getting us back together. I promise in the future we will take great care of you."
"Thank you, aunty Erin."
"Just call me Erin at the moment I am not really into being called aunt or at least it's too early. We are friends, maybe in the future you can call me that, but now we are about the same age." Erin is more mature from the way she acts. In this world, she's probably the closest thing to Minka's own mother. Even though Minka's been through a lot, she will never bring herself to bring the bad side of hers to Erin.
"Here!" Noel hands over a small cake to Minka: "This is a coffee cake; I hope you like it."
Minka took a small bite, then another bite. The next thing she knows is that she finished it already.
"Aww… she's just like Monmon when we got her first rose cake." Noel's heart is melting. But something just crossed her mind: "Hey~ Minka... I know a great guy… he's tall, handsome and more importantly I think you can get along with him easily."
Minka faintly smiles: "haha… you are really funny, Aunty Noel. I am not really into a relationship for now. "
"Have you ever been in one?"
Minka shakes her head.
"You sound really like Monika now. Don't worry, your powerful and beautiful aunty Noel is going to get you a great boyfriend. But can you please consider meeting him? Please~ Do it for love?" Noel looks at Minka like a sad puppy.
"I…" Minka looks at Erin. Erin just looks away; she doesn't want to get involved in this. Minka just let out a long sigh: "Fine… I will meet the person you want me to meet..."
"Great ! I will call him right now~!" Noel then takes out the phone.
For once, Minka didn't act like she always does. Instead, she just quietly waits for Noel to make the call and meet the person. In her heart, she's happy. But she's not the most sensitive person when it comes to emotion. Minka's emotion is like a volcano, either it's dormant or it will erupt and cause massive amounts of damage.
After 10 minutes a military car pulled over: "What is happening?! You said you were kidnaped."
"Hi~ Anton~ Long time no see~ I am here to introduce you to someone." Noel does an apologetic one.
"I can't believe you." Anton is clearly mad. He then let out a long sigh to calm himself down: "So who are you trying to fix me with? I told you, your setups are bad."
"This is Minka, a beautiful girl who also was in the army." Noel scooches Minka towards Anton.
Minka froze, her head is not working anymore. The story of hers goes back to when she first joined the army. Anton Thorn was her commanding officer. It was at that point, the little young Minka had fallen in love with that man. But over the years she buried her feelings down in the deepest part of her heart. She was his favorite subordinate, and he was her favorite person in the world. Both of them know about each other's feelings, but the age difference and the fact that Anton was married just declared a death sentence for their relationship.
But in this world, this brand-new timeline is different from the one Minka was from. Minka can forge a future that fits her will. She walks forward, reaching out her hand: "Hi, I am Minka. Officially I am a colonel, but I don't like to pull rank when I am not at work."
"Commissar Anton Thorn reporting for duty." Anton salutes.
"At ease. Like I said we are not working, so… why don't we find somewhere that has fewer people and get to know each other better." Minka pulls Anton's hand to a coffee shop away from Noel and Erin.
"So… allow me to introduce myself, I am Minka Terra." Minka used her real name with Anton.
"Are you a relative of Major Nova and Lieutenant colonel Monika?"
"Yep, in fact, I am the daughter of Monika." Minka is going all in. She doesn't want to lie to Anton. You don't really get a second chance when you are trying to date a younger version of your crash.
Anton's expression looks rather serious, he's not sure whether this girl is messing with him or telling the truth: "Can you prove it? I mean Monika shouldn't be able to have a daughter that's as old as her."
Minka changed her hairstyle to a ponytail and changed her eye color with the implant in her eyes: " Who do I look like now?" She smirks. Then she changed her hair back to her normal style.
"For me, this is rather strange, but it is still acceptable." Anton sips the coffee he seems to be taking this rather well: " So, why did you come to the past?"
"This is not my past; you can understand an alternative timeline that was created due to me coming to this time."
"Still, do you mind talking about your past? This is a 'hangout', not a work event as you stated."
Minka sighs, an unusual look appears on her face, a look that seems to have a lot of stories behind it: " I came to this timeline because… I was not satisfied with my… life. So, I decided to change it. My father left me the blueprint of a time machine isn't because he wants me to save the world or something, he wanted to give me a choice. The power to be able to decide my own fate. For that, I am thankful to him for the rest of my life."
"Your father is he..?"
"Yes, but it is rather a hard subject to discuss… So… what kind of girl do you like?" Minka has her signature charming smile.
"Well… If I have to be frank... I am not too sure, I guess an interesting girl who I will not get bored with will do." Anton is rather not good with this kind of thing. He's been working pretty hard recently: "What kind of guy do you like?"
"Responsible, understanding, and handsome." Minka grins and slightly points her finger at Anton: "Good thing you have already fitted two criteria."
Anton chuckles: "I like your forward styles; you are a bit different than your mother. When I first met her, she was rather defensive but after working with her I came to realize how amazing she is as a person."
"So… do you think we can…"
"I am sorry."
Minka blinks in confusion.
Anton awkwardly chuckles: "I am sorry… but I think we are going over this way too fast. Maybe we can hang out more often. You know, take it slowly."
"Are you saying you don't like me?" Minka's attitude surely can scare away a lot of people.
Anton facepalms: "Please, I have no intention of trying to offend you. You are great, but the fact that you are a daughter of a friend of mine doesn't really help the case. Also… I just don't think I can handle you; I am more looking for a relationship where two parties are equal, but I can tell that you are not a person who's into this kind of thing, aren't you? It's actually fairly obvious from the relationship between Trazyn and Monika, you are either looking for a relationship if you are dominating the other or you are being dominated by someone."
Minka slammed her hand at the table, but Anton didn't flinch. Minka reacted this way because he is absolutely right. She stands up and glares at Anton: "You have no idea… what I've been through …" Suddenly the glass of water on the table cracked. Minka left, in a way, like a tornado that's going to bring destruction to anything she encounters.
Anton leans back on the chair and puts on his hat. His expression is as serious as usual, he doesn't feel bad for rejecting Minka. Because he knows that the fact that someone would even come to him and ask to be in a relationship immediately means that in the future, he will reject her one way or another. Something just isn't meant to happen, no matter what world line it is.
Later on, when Monika and Trazyn return from their work, she suddenly realizes there's something under the blanket in her room. Minka slowly approaches and pokes the blanket. Monika can already tell that something bad happened to Minka because when she was a child, Monika would do the same thing when she didn't know what to do in a situation.
Monika moves a chair and sits beside Minka who's still under the blanket: "Did something happen?" Monika still feels a bit uneasy about this.
Minka didn't reply, but Monika can tell what has happened: "I am sorry for you being hurt…. relationships aren't that easy..."
"Well… you and dad seem easy enough."
"It took some time for us to get to know each other… but if I have to be honest… I kinda liked him the first time we met." Monka's cheek is turning a bit red: "Who was the guy or girl that harmed your feelings? Mom will find them and teach them a lesson! " Monika is trying to blend in the parent role but it isn't really working as she thought.
"Have you ever loved someone for years and he seems to care about you as well. But when you came to the time when you two had no obstacles between each other, you suddenly got rejected because he was never interested in you?"
"Ahhh…" Monika is a bit speechless: "I believe I never did. But who was the guy?"
"Anton Thorn."
"WHAT?!" Monika is very surprised: " Minka, you can't be serious… you never knew?"
Minka puts her head out from the blanket: "Knew what?"
"He's… interested in… men." Monika scratches the back of her head.
"What? But he married a woman."
"I don't know about that, but when we had a drink, he told me that he likes men." Monika doesn't know whether she should laugh or feel bad for Minka: "Did Noel set you two up? By the emperor, she's done it again."
Minka felt she'd been humiliated: "Where is Noel?"
"Wait, it is really not Noel's fault. Instead, me and Traz are going to make you a big, delicious snack. After that, we will watch a movie as a family." Monika emphasizes the word 'family'.
"Fine… Thank you, mom." Minka's face is still grim but at least these two starts to bond.
