"Mom!" Minka suddenly woke up under the basement of Trazyn's shop. She's finally out of a coma but the reality is not even a bit better because of her condition. Cold sweat shivers Minka because of what she's dreamt. She looks around and finds no one, no Trazyn, no Monika, and of course no Emilia. Her head is in severe pain as if it is bursting. What's worse is the terrible image that seems to have been enclaved inside her head and it is repeating over and over again.
Minka used all of her strength to sit up, now at least she can breath better. After massaging her head for a few moments, she started to look around her. Suddenly she sees Trazyn's body sitting on a chair. At first, she got startled for a second but soon she realized that Trazyn is currently not occupying this body. Minka starts to examine her body, so far nothing obvious has shown. She let out a long sigh. She kind of forgot why she was in this situation in the first place. But it doesn't matter, the first thing she needs to find is her rifle. It means life for her. Or more importantly what's on the rifle.
Minka held the edge of the bed while standing up as if a single light blow from the wind could knock her down on the ground. Minka's vision is still unclear, but she can at least recognize the rifle that's lying on the ground across the room. Her heart rate dropped for a second but then skyrocketed the next. She noticed something terrible had happened, the time travel device which was engraved on the rifle had been taken off. Or more likely cut off carefully with a laser beam. Minka's brain is working at hyper-speed on who could've done this.
First, the person who took the time travel device must know about this basement, because the laser cut seems rather new, and from the GPS tracking history of her weapon Minka knows that this weapon hasn't left her side for the past few months. Second, the time travel device is locked by a genetic lock, and it can only be activated by the will of the holder, which means Minka couldn't have done so because she was unconscious the whole time.
"This can't be it…" Minka rubs her chin with her hand, she tends to do this while she's thinking.
At first, Minka thought of Trazyn. Which relates to all the possible clues. But Minka just couldn't give a logical explanation of why? Normally, Trazyn's action is predictable because he's a mechanical being that's analyzing all the possible situations all the time. This has made him cautious about everything he does. Messing with a time-traveling device like this doesn't fit with his action.
But then who? While she was concentrating, she suddenly got a headache, which almost made her collapse on the ground. But her quick reaction prevented that. Almost out of strength, Minka slowly walks back to the bed and closes her eyes. She needs to ask Trazyn about this thing herself. One more thing she can't understand is that at some point Trazyn will make the time-traveling device. Why would he even bother stealing away Minka's? On the other hand, Trazyn is a thief. Minka couldn't help but facepalms.
Other than being bothered by her missing time travel device, she's more bothered by the foreshadowing image she kept seeing in her dream. Her real mother is dying over and over again, she's trying to figure out the message, but the dreams don't look the same.
Minka sighs, she's not familiar with the feeling of being helpless. When she was young, she was always the best student in the class. If that's not enough, Minka has a heart, a heart that wants to help the weak and protect the ones she loves. In many people's eyes, Minka is the perfect girl. But deep inside, Minka is lonely. Because of her perfect facade, no one ever tried to approach her. And Minka hasn't really been into anyone ever since she was little. One of the reasons is that Minka always makes Trazyn her idol in almost all situations.
When she was in the middle of her thought process, suddenly, Minka heard a series of footsteps coming down from the stairs. It can't be Trazyn because his body is across the room. And judging from the footstep, it is someone Minka doesn't know, she quickly takes a butter knife which is on the table next to her bed and pretends that she's asleep.
Even when Minka closed her eyes, she could still feel the sinister feeling radiating from that person's body. It is like being next to a radiator but instead of heat, it is the suffocating feeling as if the air is being sucked away. Minka peeks with her eyes slightly open, that person's back is facing Minka. She could just step on that person's neck easily, but she decided to wait.
"Are we done with the fake sleeping game?" It's a woman's voice.
Minka suddenly jumps up and tries to stab towards that woman's throat, but her hand gets easily blocked; within a few seconds, Minka's arm is restrained on the back and unable to move. At a glance, Minka noticed the silverish long white hair, she tries to activate her psyker power but somehow it is not responding to her will. Minka noticed she's in a pinch now, instead of continuing to fight she's going for a different approach: "Don't you feel ashamed of attacking a helpless person?" she makes the hissing noise as if she's in great pain.
Surprisingly, that woman released Minka's arm. But instead, what's waiting for Minka is the blade sticking to her throat. She then gives Minka a signal to tell her to be quiet and start listening to the noise in the house above. After a few more seconds the noise is gone.
"What now? You're going to kill me?" Minka can fight back, but it's better to know about your enemy first.
"I am looking for the owner of this shop. I will spare you if you can provide me with some useful information." The white-haired woman's expression did not even change while talking, she's just looking down on Minka in a menacing way.
Minka knows another person who talks like this, but this has to be a coincidence. She can summon out her necrodermis lance, but she decides to play it safe. Minka is not a hothead like any other family member of hers: "Alright, I'll talk."
"Smart."
"But on one condition though, you need to let me get dressed first." Minka points at her clothes: "So... If you would be kind enough to leave the room or…"
"Not a chance, we are all women here. So, change." The white-haired woman is not an idiot as well. She then sits on the chair while putting her feet on the table.
"May I ask what your name is?" Minka takes her purple dress out from the drawer, she's surprised that Trazyn would take care of her stuff that well.
"Maria."
"I thought it was going to be something scarier." Minka still has her sense of humor even in times like this.
"Do you always talk this much? How about you direct your efforts to tell me what I was asking for?" Maria sounded a bit impatient. She's clearly not a fan of talkative people.
"Fine... the man you are looking for is Tarzan, he's an antique collector."
"Try again, I know what's the deal of the Necron Trazyn. Now, tell me where he is." Surprisingly she sorts of expected Minka to lie.
Minka's nerve suddenly got alerted, she realized this woman in front of her is not some average mercenary. Not a lot of people know of Trazyn, and from what she said she knows about what Trazyn was doing and why he was away: "Then, I am sorry. I don't know anything about it."
A sword suddenly flies towards Minka, she leans her head sideways out of reflex, but it still cuts off a few strands of Minka's hair. Then comes the noise when the sword pins on the stone wall of the basement. The whole room is silent like a floating space hulk on the endless void.
Maria's expression still didn't change, but that smileless blank face is probably one of the most terrifying things Minka has ever seen in her life. She then takes her foot off of the table and slowly stands up. Maria's heeled boots sound like the strike of thunder in this very small basement. Minka is trying to step back but the cold stone wall is telling her that there are no more ways to retreat. The air starts twisting around Minka's palm, just as the lance is actualizing, Trazyn's body suddenly wakes up from the chair.
Seeing this, Maria immediately pulls Minka by the neck and places a dagger pointing straight at Minka's throat: "Not a single move on your muscle or she dies." then proceed to pierce Minka's outer skin with the dagger. A bit of blood started dripping out of the wound.
"Name your demand, I will make sure you are not going to survive any of the things that are coming to you, that is... if you harm the girl more than you already did." Trazyn's tone is rarely serious like this.
"Dad…" Minka's words suddenly slipped out. Out of emotion.
Maria's expression twitched a bit, not because of what Minka said but she realized something was wrong with the dagger she was holding. The tip that has Minka's blood on starts to glow and eventually smother. Maria's expression changed from calm to surprise and at that moment her attention was on the dagger.
Trazyn immediately shot a plasma shot from the pistol that's hidden in his sleeve. Minka also at this moment ducked to the side, making the shot hit directly on Maria. The hot plasma boils her flesh, but her body doesn't flinch. Eventually, they could see Maria's shoulder bone.
"Who are you…?" Maria's voice is shaking, not from the pain but something else. Something unexplainable.
"Do not answer any questions. Leave now!" Trazyn hides Minka at his back and points his pistol at Maria: "It will not be your shoulder if you dare to approach."
Red mists start to flow in from the gap between the brick walls, the whole room is filled with the energy of bloodlust and the suffocating feeling that even makes Trazyn start losing concentration.
The dagger Maria was holding continued to shine with blazing light. Somehow Minka's blood reacted with her dagger. Soon the red mist surrounds Trazyn and Minka. Just as Trazyn is trying to take a blind shot, the glowing light of the dagger suddenly disappears. And with it, the mist that fills the room starts to fade away as if it's retreating back into the wall.
Trazyn put away his pistol, he had never seen that woman before but somehow, he feels like she's deeply connected with what's happening in this world. As he turned to check on Minka, he's greeted with a jump hug from Minka. The bleed has already stopped due to Minka's regeneration ability.
"Did you really have to jump?" Trazyn is holding on to Minka's thigh to prevent her from slipping down.
"Yes! And more, you saved me from that mad witch."
"Alright… I'm glad that you have recovered from that…" Trazyn is trying to let Minka down, but her body is not letting Trazyn go: "How long will you stick on me?"
"Just a little more… I really missed you."
Trazyn's mind suddenly recalled something that happened a few years ago, in a different world. It was in a similar setting; Monika said the same thing to him. He didn't realize he had experienced so much with Monika. He wants to meet her, but not now. He still has a lot of work to do. And what comes after requires Minka.
"Come on, stop being a little bitch." Ria waves at Monika who's refusing to get out of the hotel.
"You are incredibly rude, and I hate you." Monika is looking at her magic armor, it apparently gives some bonus stats on her magical resistance, but it looks extremely revealing.
"Oh, come on. You could've told me that when we were buying the armor. It cost me months' worth of saving you know. Also, you'll be fine. No one is going to bother even noticing you." This time Ria is saying it out loud in the middle of a street. Since Monika wore the wig and the contact lenses, she looks quite different than how she normally is. This is why Ria acts more like herself than before. But this little stunt did draw some attention.
Seeing more people gather, Monika quickly sprints out, and drags Ria with her: "Why are you doing this? I thought we're… "
"We are?" Ria is suddenly interested in what Monika is about to say.
"F...F.."
"Come on, spit it out."
"Friends." Monika is embarrassed when talking like this. This is out of her character. At least this is what she thought.
"Alright, best friend. What is something you don't like about me?" Ria blinks in innocence.
"Can you please stop embarrassing me? I don't like wearing something like this… I know people think embarrassing me is fun... Haha." Monika fake laughs: " But I don't really like it when it starts to become harmful."
Ria puts her hands on Monika's shoulder: "I am not doing it because I want to. I am doing it because I'm trying to help you. I could see that you have some confidence issues, even from the first time we met."
"You mean when we were in phyrexia?"
"You were hiding behind Trazyn's shadow all the time. Sure, you can stand up for yourself but that's different from being confident." Ria looks serious when saying this.
"I…" Monika paused: "I suppose… but how is wearing revealing clothes any sign of confidence?"
"You are showing your gifted body, it's sending a signal of: I don't care about what others think about me, I wear like this, and I can handle the judgment of others."
"This doesn't sound right…" Monika slightly squinted her eyes.
Ria points at her chest: "Look at me, my armor shows my breasts. You know why?"
"Because it was designed like this and you have no choice?"
"No! I modified mine specifically to look like this, I do this because when fighting some male enemies, they will focus on my chest instead of my movement." Ria looks very impressed with herself.
"Whatever point you were trying to make, you are actually making me have less confidence in whatever you're trying to say." Monika crosses her arms.
"Hmmm, how about making Trazyn happy?" Ria suddenly has an evil grin on her face.
"W..what do you mean?" Monika is suddenly interested.
"I've heard that he's been having some contact with some other girls. He, at some point, also learned more about being a human." Ria winks.
Monika breathes hard and rapidly, she's mad and jealous about what Ria said. But her instinct is telling her that Ria is lying, Trazyn would never do something like that: "I don't believe a thing you just said. I actually hate you and the first thing I ask when meeting Trazyn again is why did he send you to find me instead of anyone else?"
"You sure you don't wanna ask how many girls he's seeing these days?" Ria knows that her words are getting into Monika.
"I don't want to talk about it anymore." Monika's mind is filled with the image of Trazyn having fun with other girls or leaving her. When she's mad walking, she suddenly sees a street sign that's written: Terra mansion.
Ria also noticed that. She then pokes Monika's waist: "Hey, isn't that your family name."
Monika got tickled and stepped away: "Stop being weird, also, yea. To be honest, I haven't been here since forever. "
"You wanna have a visit?"
"I guess, it's really been a while." Monika looks a bit distracted by what happened between her and Ria.
It's not a long way from the outer city to the Terra mansion. In fact, it looks a bit too small for a renowned family like the Terras. It only has two floors and is about 600 meter square in size. But for some reason, it feels more luxurious than the enormous mansion of the Vermillion family.
Before going in, Monika put her hand at the scanner of the front door. She checked the security system and the maintenance system. All of them seem to be working fine.
"How long has it been?" Ria asks while sipping on the lollipop she bought on the way.
"Gosh, I don't know. Probably more than half of a decade? I haven't been here ever since I graduated from the Academie." Monika is looking around in the courtyard, for some reason she suddenly has some deja vu feeling about this place. It was from a different time after seeing Trazyn. But she hasn't been here a long time ago.
"Huh, this is smaller than I imagined. Anyways, you wanna go in?" Ria points at the front door with her lollipop.
Monika nods, she opens the door gently. The lights are off but the place is rather clean for an abandoned mansion: "Something must be wrong in the power supply, otherwise the light should be turned on immediately."
"Well, you can't expect everything to be worked perfectly can you?"
"Guess you are right, well-" Monika suddenly hears a body-dropping noise than the moment she turns away from Ria.
"Ria?" Ria did not respond. Monika is not turning, instincts tell her that the moment she turns, she will also be struck by the same force that dropped Ria: "Whoever you are, show yourself. Maybe we can resolve this in peace." Monika is in no condition to fight, she can take down a few men coming towards her but she's no opponent against someone like a trained assassin.
Suddenly, the door behind her shut tight. Darkness quickly creeps on Monika, she draws out her short sword and starts to walk back to where the door was.
"Don't be so scared." A male voice suddenly comes from the top of the side stairs: "We are family after all." The voice suddenly came from the pillar not far away from Monika. The voice apparently changed position under a second: "Long time no see, dear sister."
"Are you… Leonard?" Monika asks unsurely.
"In the flesh, How have you been?" He has a comfortable smile on his face.
"I am fine… i don't really remember you for some reason. But most importantly, what did you do to my friend?" Monika points her sword at Leonard, she's not trusting someone who just took out her friend.
"Don't be so aggressive, but I can see why Trazyn and you make a fitting pair. I just dropped her because I don't want to talk to anyone else but you."
"You know about Trazyn?" Monika's tone suddenly changed from cold to slightly panicked.
"Surprised? Anyways, why not come and give your big bro a hug?" He extends out his arms and starts walking towards Monika.
"Not one more step." Monika is in her battle stance: "I don't know you and I can already tell I won't like you."
"Really? I've been looking forward to this reunion for a loooong time." Leonard's tone suddenly changed from confident to as if he's hurt.
"Let me and Ria leave and I will not come back."
"About that." Leonard suddenly appeared on the stairs, Monika did not see him even move but he just suddenly appeared somewhere else: "I am here for your friend. So… would be nice if you can hand her over."
"Not a chance." Monika stands in front of Ria's body and is about to strike.
"Sister? We are family, I do not wish to harm you." Leonard still didn't change his tone. He's trying to be patient towards Monika: "You are making me sound like I'm Nova." For some reason, he glanced at the ceiling and gave a small grin.
Monika also glanced at the ceiling but the moment she looks at Leonard, he's nowhere to be found. She then feels her body is spinning and eventually her body is on the ground laying next to Ria. Monika tries to grab her sword but it's far out of her reach, she quickly climbs up and runs towards the main door.
But suddenly, her shoulder is grabbed by Leonard and he proceeds to slam Monika on the wall. The impact wasn't too strong, looks like Leonard wasn't serious about fighting Monika. Before Monika could get up again, he fades out in front of Monika's eye level while crouching: "Can we start our little friendly conversation, you know, as a family?"
Monika knows that she has no chance against someone like Leonard, but she's not giving up. She's not going to lose Ria: "Do whatever you want to me, but leave Ria."
"Silly, did you even hear what I said? I am not going to harm you or do anything. I am just going to talk to you and take away your friend. There's nothing you can do about it. Just go with the flow" Leonard's voice is full of sorrow, but there's a bit of taunting in there as well. Which Monika despite.
"If you take away Ria, I will kill myself here. And I will make sure to let everyone know it was you who drove me to do so." Monika takes out her dagger and puts it next to her neck: "You think Nova or Trazyn would let you get away with it?"
"What are you talking about, Nova is dead." Not a change in his expression, even Nova is also his sister.
"That's what you think, I know she isn't because we are twins. We still have that connection you know?" Monika grins: "Besides, i don't think maddening a Necron overlord so he could invade this planet is the will of whoever you are working for." Monika knows well about the little political struggle on this planet.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Leonard took a deep breath. Before Monika could even realize it, he already took away the dagger and threw it away: "You do make a fine point, and yes you got me there." He then pinches Monika's cheek with his finger: "You have grown so much, it was my mistake to not take you as seriously… by the way, You know?" He then takes off Monika's wig: "You and Nova do act like each other."
Monika is holding a strong face, her expression did not flinch even when he was pinching her face.
"But…" Leonard suddenly looked away: "I am on a mission. If you refuse to give up then…." His hand suddenly started glowing, similar to the light when Minka was performing her memory-altering ability: "I shall make you forget."
Monika tries to struggle out of the grapes from Leonard, but it's no use, she can see her memory with Ria and in seconds it is fading away as if seeing a car drowning in a bottomless lake. She screams Ria's name but Ria does not wake up. Eventually, the light faded away. Monika strengthless lies on the floor before her eyes close up. She muttered Ria's name one last time.
"I'm sorry." Leonard carries Ria on his shoulder: "there's no better way to do this." He then looked at the picture of Maria Terra and Miller Terra's portrait hanging on the wall: "Mother, father. I have failed to protect our family. Please forgive me." Before, he leaves, he did a few change in Vegas to make sure that no one will remember this encounter.
A few hours later.
"Aw.. my head…I knew I shouldn't have drunk that bottle of the fire brew." Monika climbs up from the floor and leans her back against the wall: "Vegas, how far are we to Trazyn?"
"You are approximately two days away from his current location. The delay was caused by the detour of visiting your family mansion."
"You asked for it and so I did it. Do I have to ask Trazyn to fix your settings?" Monika puts on the wig on the floor. Her head is still hurting like hell, but she's good to move on.
"If you think it's necessary.."
"Just shut up, but thanks to you I can get this far. Can't believe I found you outside the cave I was in." Monika looks at the cufflink on her wrist and gently wipes off some of the dust.
"It was indeed a fine consequence. Do you want me to start the guiding route?"
"Please do, also, show me the way to the closest rose cake store. I want a taste of the sweets." Monika steps outside, the wind blows some dust into her eyes. She rubs it quickly but doesn't realize that the contact lens Ria brought her has fallen off.
Outside of the Trazyn's antique shop. Trazyn brought a bag of rose cake to Minka: "Anything else you wanna get before we set off?"
"You sure it's a good idea to leave mom out of this? She's coming, you know?" Minka gladly takes over the bag and starts digging in.
"You want me to go over the plan again? Seems like it's going to take you a while to finish all of those rose cakes." Trazyn disappointingly looked at Minka while she just replied with a gesture to let Trazyn start.
"So, our plan is rather simple. We time travel back to nine years in the past to find the blueprint about the tesseract, apparently, we can find most of the material needed right now. Except the 'chronosphere'."
"Yep, based on the archives that I could access, it once existed under the security basement of the academie. The exact time is not sure but it was there for a few years for the sake of safekeeping." There are still some crumbs from the rose cake on Minka's lips.
"So, we need to find two items."
"Well… the blueprint is easy, I can get it within a day. But the story of academie is rather difficult. The school is used to train elite soldiers and therefore it is hard to act as an outsider." Minka suddenly has an evil grin on her face: "To get access, we need to become students of the academie. But don't worry, no one will recognize you and me."
"Let's hope for the best." Trazyn sighs.
"Since when do you 'hope' for the best?" Minka loves to tease Trazyn. She then throws away the bag into the trash can: "Let's synchronize our device. On 3."

Outside of the capital city, in the middle of the woods, a blue orb appears from thin air, and eventually, two people step out. While landing, Minka suddenly grabs Trazyn's shoulder as if she's about to faint.
"Sorry." Minka has a bit of faint sweat on her face: "I didn't realize holding the psychic field for two would take this much work."
"Here." Trazyn takes out a small pill from his jacket: " Take this and it should make you feel better."
"Is this a psychic booster? I thought they banned it a long time ago." Minka gladly put it in her mouth.
"Well, I am a person who collects rare items across the universe after all."
Minka slightly leans her head on Trazyn's arm, she feels safe when going out with Trazyn. For some reason, she never thought about the possibility of Trazyn ditching her or using her as a sacrifice.
"Wait, dad." Minka snaps her finger, she changes her outfit to an academie uniform. But instead of walking she suddenly sits on the ground: "Oh~ Mr, can you please pick this cute, innocent schoolgirl up, I think I sprained my ankle~" She looks at Trazyn half seducingly.
"Was this part of your training?" Trazyn shakes his head in a hopeless way.
"Very much so, also can you wait for me a bit. I need to put my shoes on."
"I'm pretty sure Monika didn't put her shoes on by using the crimson daemon ability."
"That is not how to take care of your shoes, mom always wears the same thing anyway. So, she probably has like dozens of back up." Minka apparently has all sorts of cosmetics for almost all occasions, as if she knows that she's going to use them one day.
"Do we have a place to stay? Not for me, but for you. Also, we need to limit our use of Necron weapons, because it would broadcast signals across this star system." Trazyn is doing a planet-wide scan with his cufflink.
Minka nods, she then disables some of her weapon systems: " About the place to stay, we can always go into someone's house and brainwash them."
"Are you kidding? Do you want to create some distortion in the timeline? Or create several branch realities?"
"Chill, I'm just joking around. What I did was to find a job like I found that job at the bar." Minka refers to the time when she first arrived at Trazyn's time, Minka takes out her hacking tool: "Maybe we can find some job which could be interesting…. Ah ha." Minka puts her screen in front of Trazyn: " There's a coffee shop looking for two workers. Annnnnd…" She scrolls down: "They provide living space for two as well. Isn't that a sweet deal?"
"Why do you always want to work in a place like this…." Trazyn never understood this part, neither he nor Monika would ever serve anyone.
Minka put on a pouting face, her face is peach red. It is amazing that she can do it within a few seconds. After staring at Trazyn for a minute straight, Trazyn finally gave up and let Minka contact the owner.
"How are we gonna get into the school? Does it recognize by using some sort of chips or I don't know how you humans do this?"
"Don't worry about that, I grew up forging fake ids for this school…..I mean, I…" Minka suddenly lost her words.
"I am proud of you." Trazyn puts his hand on Minka's shoulder: "Monika might not approve this, but you're gonna do what you have to do to achieve your goal."
"You are the best dad ever." Just as they were chatting, Minka already forged two id cards with each of their portraits and name on them: "You will be Tarzen Berekor and I will be Minka Infinite."
"Did you just use the Necron surname?" Trazyn is more surprised by Minka's knowledge about Necron names: "Just so you know, I actually knew someone was called Berekor a few million years ago. I broke into his family tomb and he was not very happy about that."
"So… it's perfect?" Minka put away her card-making machine. And start finding the route to the coffee shop.
"Indeed it is, did you make up a cover story for us?" Usually, Trazyn likes to work alone but somehow enjoys it more when working with Minka.
"I did not do that, how about we go in as a couple?" Minka blinks a few times, she wants to see Trazyn's reaction.
"Sure, since no one knew about us." Trazyn looks like he doesn't really care about this cover.
"Hey!" Minka stops the search and walks in front of Trazyn: " You should be more sensitive about this kind of thing. You are now with mom."
"It's a cover story." Trazyn doesn't understand why Minka is making a fuss about this.
"You should object against this kind of proposal! You know what, we will do this. Then I'll tell mom and you'll be in trouble."
"You're going to snitch on me?"
When their eyes fixed with each other, they just couldn't help themselves but burst into laughter.
It didn't take long for them to secure their jobs, Minka forged their information in the systems that made them overqualified for their current work. They share a small room with two beds, which Minka immediately pushed together so she can have a bigger bed because Trazyn doesn't require sleep. And if he does, it wouldn't be weird anyways as their cover story is that they are a couple.
As the night falls, Minka changes into her pajamas. Trazyn however is seemingly writing something in necrontyr language with the cufflink. Minka is bored, she thought maybe it's a good idea to tease Trazyn: "Dad~" Minka makes a seducing pose on the bed: "I'm so lonely… please come and warm me up."
Trazyn didn't turn: "Judging from your tone, I can tell that either you are messing with me or you have no idea about the issues of the act of incest. Also, right now my body cannot procreate a sperm cell within this body. So, if you are keep going with that direction, I will pro-"
"Ew, stop dad. This is getting too graphic and disgusting." Minka suddenly realized something: "Wait, did you say that you cannot procreate… in this body." Minka doesn't want to say that word.
"No, at least not from what I could do. Biology is hard, but I already have a decent idea about how to create the DNA strands and code them into a sperm cell that contains my genetic information. So, you don't really need to worry about me not being your father or not having a child in the future." Surprisingly Trazyn is taking this thing seriously: "Does that make you feel better?"
"Glad to hear that my father is not just wasting time every day. But" Minka suddenly has a change of tone: "You can't just keep running away from mom anymore. One day, you need to confront the truth. I can keep the secret for you but you need to tell her."
Trazyn suddenly stops his work and turns: "Tell her what? Should I tell her that it was me who killed Nova? She would hate me forever, no one tells her anything until I find a way to resolve this."
"What happens if you don't?" Minka is not afraid of Trazyn.
"Why don't you tell me how the hell your future Nova is alive?" Trazyn is slightly losing his temper.
"You want me to tell you? Fine!" Minka sat up from the bed: "She was brought back by some kind of ritual. But this doesn't mean that you need to stop trying. I told you the truth because I want you to stop being afraid of going back to mom. She needs you more than ever. "
"I am glad to have you here to tell me these things Minka. I really do." Trazyn had a look of relief on his face.
Minka swings her hair and has a prideful look on her face: "Well, what can you say? I am smarter than my parents. Now, why don't you come and warm me up? My feet are cold."
Trazyn takes off his clothes and gets into the bed: "I still have one more question, how do we deal with the fact that we look older than those teenagers?"
"I have looked the same ever since I was twenty, so I don't think that's an issue. That's of course, I got better assets over the time but I think it doesn't really affect a lot of things." Minka is very proud of herself: "But, I don't think you'll be an issue because your human form is not really old to an extent that you can be recognized immediately."
"You really know about everything do you?" Trazyn did a comfortable chuckle. But Minka did not reply. Apparently, she has already fallen asleep in this short time and Trazyn cannot move because Minka's hands are clinging to his arm like it's been welded on.
While being forced to lie on the bed unable to move, Trazyn eventually sunk into the pit of memory.
"What do you want?" Nova sits behind her desk aggressively looking at Trazyn.
Trazyn is in his Necron form, as requested by Nova not long time ago: "Salutations my dear Nova. I-"
"You have now lost your privilege to call my name, now it's either Terra or hey you." Nova disrupted Trazyn's sentence.
"Well then… hey you. I am in need of your assistance. Are you far-"
Trazyn's words got disrupted again: "I'll stop you right there. First, we are not close enough to be asking each other for favors. Second, I do not like you. I'm pretty sure I've addressed that on more than enough occasions."
"I would not come to you if something really small isn't it? Maybe you should let me finish instead of keep telling me those hurtful words. Your sister has been quite enjoying my-" Suddenly a knife stabbed into Trazyn's chest, it is only a few millimeters away from his reactor core.
Nova's expression is very dire as if she's looking down on an insect. Without further bantering, Trazyn continues his proposal: "I want you to become the champion of this world. It brings you both honor and a rather good-looking cape."
"So, you want me to win you a cape? Why don't you leave right now before I break every part of your body?"
"Can't you let me finish? You know what, I'll just tell you the truth." Trazyn stands up from the chair and pulls the dagger off of his chest: "I've been secretly using Minka's time-traveling device for more than one occasion because for the sake of craving for knowledge. I cannot go to the future because this time machine is not perfected. But I've come across an artifact that tells you about your fortune." Trazyn then takes out a small fortune teller sphere: " It says that in order to achieve peace among worlds, one must become a legend of this world."
Nova looks at Trazyn in a way as if he's lost his mind: "You want me to become the champion just because of this little thing?" Nova puts a hand on her face and starts laughing: "This is too good. I thought Monika is stupid but i never knew that her stupidness is contagious. You know what? I'll do it. I needed to beat up some people to blow off my steam anyways."
"Am I part of your steam?" Trazyn is glad that Nova would do this.
"No, I wish. You are the least of my problems at this point, a lot of people have been rattled for some reason, especially the period after you gave away the tesseract. I've been sending forces out the whole day just to deal with the riots and the sudden increase of strange otherworldly beings." Nova gets off from her seat and puts on her uniform: "When is the deadline for signing up?"
"In a week, don't worry I'll be there to make sure you win." Trazyn does the scissors hand as if he's cutting something.
"Don't bother, I want to see this world's best anyways. Might help with the recruitment. And by the way Trazyn." Nova stops before leaving her office: "I hope we weren't enemies at all. Thank you for thinking about me, Monika, and this world." Nova gives a comfortable grin before heading off.
In the end, Nova did become the world champion, to be frank, Nova actually broke a few records. But this also led to her downfall of her. She was named picked by the phyrexian to fight with their champion. In the end, Nova took the phyrexian champion with her but her wound was beyond recovery, at the end realizing this world has no chance to survive the full-scale attack of the phyrexian, Nova begged Glissa to leave the rest of the imperial regiment alone and treat nicely to this world. This is why everyone after the 'seven hours war' remembered Nova to be a legend and a heroine.
Trazyn blames himself for what happened to Nova. Moreover, he can't do anything about it because Minka said Nova is fine in the future and there's no involvement of him in the whole rescue part. Trazyn is not familiar with the feeling of being strengthless or not being able to do anything. But it's better to listen to Minka because, to be frank, she always seems to know about whatever she's talking about.
Not after long, the first light of dawn shines on Trazyn. He noticed that the sun color is different from the ones from his timeline, especially after the phyrexian colonization. Normally this doesn't bother Trazyn at all but it was under a similar light, he dragged Orikan into the furnace of biotransformation. So, this kind of light is like a sign for Trazyn. A sign of disaster ahead.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Minka also woke up and already put on her school uniform.
"Are you sure this time it would work?" Trazyn is a bit spaced out.
"What do you mean 'this' time?" Minka is suddenly alerted.
"Sorry, I used the wrong word. My gothic still isn't perfect." Trazyn gave out an embarrassed smile.
"Alright….?" Minka gave Trazyn a suspicious glance: "Can I have the time-traveling device back? I didn't mention it but I knew you took it."
"Well… busted." Trazyn opens up his dimensional pocket and takes out the small device: "I didn't ask because you were in a coma."
"It's fine, besides we are family." Minka's smile always brings comfort to Trazyn for some strange reason: "Plus, you took care of me, so I can't really be mad at you." Minka suddenly remembered something: "Ah, your uniform is in the laundry room downstairs. Can you pick it up and put it on so we can get going with our work?"
As Trazyn leaves the room, Minka takes out her time-traveling device again and starts opening the records. She sees a number: 4758. For some reason, some cold sweat drops appeared from Minka's forehead. As she heard Trazyn's footsteps again, she quickly put away the device with her ability.
"Did something happen? Your face looks paler than before." Trazyn is holding the laundry bag with the washed clothes in it: "Is it because you are hungry?" Trazyn throws a chocolate bar across the room but Minka fails to catch it.
"Sor- sorry." Minka picks up the bar and pretends to act clumsy: "I think I didn't really sleep well last night." Minka grabs her backpack and wraps her arm around Trazyn's forearm: "Shall we leave? the school is going to open soon."
"We are still a few hours away from the actual opening time? What's happening to you?" Trazyn noticed something strange about Minka.
Minka's mouth is wide open, she lost her words: "Ah… I was… testing you!" Minka does a stupid grin, she then takes off her clothes because she didn't even manage to take a shower when she woke up. Interestingly enough Minka seems to have already forgotten about the existence of Trazyn as she started to change in front of Trazyn while normally she would even ask Trazyn to leave the room.
Minka sits in the bathtub while slowly letting the water rise, she takes the time travel device out again and inspects it carefully. 4758, this is the number that showed on the navigation record. Minka set it up because sometimes it is easy to get lost during time travel, so using a number to represent the number of usage helps a lot when it comes to organizing the time traveling. Minka probably only used dozens of times in her life and that number is absurdly high for a time traveler. The time-traveling requires an absurd amount of energy and psychic power to make sure not to lose her ways during the navigation process. She doesn't want to believe it but the machine doesn't make a mistake, somehow Trazyn has been traveling for near five thousand times, and for some reason, there are not a lot of consequences happened.
She doesn't want to confront Trazyn, maybe in a timeline, she did. But if Trazyn is with her right now it probably means something bad happened after she confronted Trazyn. Minka is not stupid and she's not the type of person who will fight against injustice. She's more like Trazyn in that sense: an opportunist. She kinda hates herself a bit because of it but you can't really change who you are, at least that's what she believes.
While she's having an inner conflict, Trazyn knocked on the door: "Minka, you forgot about your towel."
"Just put it in front of the door, I'll grab it later. Thank dad." Even Minka can pull out a towel anytime she wants, she still prefers to have this little interaction with Trazyn. Because it was one of the reasons Minka even remade a time machine, is just to fulfill her lack of fatherly love.
After half an hour, Minka finished her bath. She's already dressed and done her hair. Trazyn however is leaning on the balcony with a piece of toast in his hand: "I got you some breakfast." He points at the table adjacent to where he's standing: "The food never really gets me going but the ambiance. Unmissable."
Minka leans next to him while holding a ham sandwich: "Dad?" Minka asks: "Why did you bring me?"
"Because I don't want you to feel lonely." Trazyn adjusts Minka's bang, some hair seems to be out of place: "Besides, without you, this work wouldn't be this easy."
Minka's face is turning red, it's not because of taking compliments to embarrass her but trying to hold her happiness: "If you need me to do anything, just ask. We are family after all."
"Why do you keep saying this? I never heard you say this to Monika or anyone else."
"Because we are a family?"
"Fair enough." These two always seemed to be connected with each other in almost every way. If Monika is seeing this she would definitely get jealous of her own daughter.
Soon, they already arrived at the Academie, the tall gate makes it look like a royal courtyard instead of a school. The Academie was founded by the Legendary hero admiral Spire himself a few hundred years ago. Ever since it has been a place that produces some of the finest soldiers on the planet.
"Fun fact." Trazyn looks at the statue of admiral Spire: " I met him before. In the space sector of Cadia. Did give me much of an impression, I was just trying to use them to acquire an artifact."
"Ahem." A tall ebony-skinned man cleared his throat: "I am sorry, but you are blocking the entrance. Would you please step a bit aside as there's a car coming?"
"Sure, are you the guardsman here? We are new." Trazyn asks.
"No, I am the student representative of the Vanus sector." He politely answered Trazyn: "Maybe I can show you around after my work?"
"Sure! I and Tarzen would love to have a student tour. Oh, I'm Minka by the way. We are a couple." Minka's grin is always charming.
"I'll note it on my schedule, my name is Jaquel. now I have to get back to my work." Jaquel nods and sprints away as a car approaches.
As Minka scans her id card the door slowly opens. Despite having a massive door the school surprisingly isn't populated. Maybe because only the richest would send their children to this place.
As they step in they are greeted by two female students: "Welcome, Mr. Berekor and Ms. Infinite. We've been waiting for you. We are members of the student console, we will be showing you to your classes and give a brief introduction about this place."
"Great! Just one question, how do you guys feel about in… school romance?" Trazyn asks because having your own daughter clinging to you is still pretty weird even for Trazyn.
"We absolutely encourage that." Both of them replied at the same time.
Minka is having a fake smile on her face, her crooked moon-shaped eyes are more threatening than a plasma pistol pointing at Trazyn's face. However, nothing really broke out. Not after long, they arrived at their class room which had few students already in there.
"This is your classroom, the Vindicare sector specialized in marksmanship. Your class representative will be… Nova Terra." They were reading from the list: "Weird, I thought the class representative would be Antony Thorne."
"You two are going to be in my class?" Nova suddenly appears from behind, she's already wearing one of those invisibility suits long before her official ranks: "Welcome I guess. But bear in mind, I am not going to take care of you or your problem whatsoever. I became the representative because I didn't want Anton to win. I have a bet to win."
"What kind of bet?" Trazyn is suddenly interested.
"None of your damn business. Now, move." Nova leaves the room by going between Trazyn and Minka.
"Actually, Mr. Tarzen, you are in a different class." One of the student's checks on her notepad: " You are assigned to… Vanus sector."
"Aww…" Minka pretends to be sad: "I guess it's a goodbye."
"Don't worry, you guys will have plenty of classes together, the sectors are just about the major classes." The student guide explains.
"Well, that's reassuring." Trazyn is a bit mad about Minka making a basic mistake like this. While the guides escort away Trazyn, Minka quickly sneaks into the classroom and tries to find where Nova sits.
While Minka is snooping around, she got interrupted by a familiar voice: "What are you sneaking around for?" Noel crosses her arms and looks at Minka up and down: "Who are you?"
Minka blinks and acts cute: "Oh, hi~ I am new here. I was just trying to find where my seat is going to be?" Minka takes out the introduction pamphlet about the school and uses it as evidence.
"Huh." Noel scoffs: "Well, welcome then. My name is Noel Vermillion. I am the vice president of the student console. Did you like the pamphlet? I and the president made it together."
Minka quickly glanced at the piece of paper on her hands: "I...a… I like it."
"Oh? Which part?" Noel is really persistent.
Just when Minka is struggling, Nova comes back and calls Noel: "Noel, I need a favor."
"Right away!" Noel gives Minka a dirty look and proceeds to leave the room. Minka takes a relieved deep breath, she then finally finds Nova's seat. After locating it, she used her hacking tool to change the seat arrangement in the school documents so she can be sitting right next to Nova and put Noel as far as possible. She then takes out her notepad and ticks another mission off the list.
Trazyn however on the other hand is being transported into a completely new environment. A classroom in human society is already full of politics and complicated. Needless to say for Trazyn, he's just there sitting in his seat not knowing what to do at all.
"Hi, you are new, right? I saw you and the class rep were talking about something." An orange-haired girl gently taps Trazyn on the shoulder.
"Ah, yes. I am Tarzen. Nice to meet you." Trazyn extends out his hand.
The silver-haired girl blinks a few times and hesitates: "You are really new aren't you? Where did you come from?" She did not shake Trazyn's hand for some reason.
"I am sorry, how does your world greet each other?" Trazyn asks.
The orange-haired girl giggles: "You are funny." She looks around and quickly shakes Trazyn's hand.
"Why are you acting so alerted, do you have an overprotective boyfriend or something?" Trazyn is curious about the way the girl acts.
"No no-no. I am just.. Used to it. But nice to meet you Tarzen, my name is Lynine. I am from the Past Life funeral parlor. " She looks kinda shy while introducing herself, clearly she's not used to talking to people.
Suddenly, a few other students start giving both of them some dirty looks. Trazyn saw it but Lynine didn't notice because they were behind her. Trazyn stands up and whispers: "Is it just me or don't others like me."
Something seemed to strike her in the deepest part of her soul: "I am sorry… Maybe we shouldn't talk to each other anymore. Goodbye Tarzen." Lynine walks out of the classroom while avoiding anyone's eye contact.
Interestingly enough, others, after Lynine left, all came and started chatting with Trazyn. He didn't ask anything about Lynine because he doesn't want to draw any unwanted attention and he prefers to resolve this issue by himself. Something is off about Lynine and Trazyn wants to know why. Not because he cares but out of his life of being a collector of knowledge.
Trazyn used his inbuilt scanner to scan for the footstep trace of anyone that's left. He then found Lynine sitting in a dark corner on the stairs. She isn't sobbing what's so ever. She just looks generally depressed. She also noticed Trazyn the moment he turned the corner. She stood up and started walking away while crossing her arms as if she's cold. "Wait!" Trazyn quickly rushed behind her, he didn't touch but extended out his hand: "Please tell me everything. I want to know."
"About what?" Lynine is a bit confused about Trazyn's question.
"Why is everyone looking at you like that? Did you do anything wrong? Please I want to know."
Lynine turns, she gives Trazyn a genuine smile: "If you are planning to do well in this school, you should not associate with me what's so ever."
"I couldn't give a damn about this school. Please, let's just sit down and talk."
Lynine takes a deep breath and nods, she then leads Trazyn to an empty room where there are only a few chairs and tables: "This is the place where I usually hang out. Let's talk here. Now, what's your question?"
"Rather spacious don't you think?" Trazyn refers to the room.
"Stop it.. Don't tease me so much." Lynine looks a bit shy but she's still maintaining eye contact with Trazyn: "Look, I'm going to be honest with you. I am the next contender of the funeral parlor." She looks a bit stressed out when regarding the last part.
"Preposterous." Trazyn shakes his head. His voice is calm but his tone is rather…. Angry?
Lynine is a bit surprised about the response she got from Trazyn: "Didn't you hear?... I am going to be the next owner…"
"That's why this is ridiculous. Your humans have some ridiculous belief about this kind of nonsense." Trazyn for one second forgot that he's undercover.
"Human?" Lynine is confused about what Trazyn just said.
Trazyn pretends to clear his throat: "I mean…. Your people. From the place where I came from we don't have such ridiculous superstitions."
"But it's real! Everyone that's friends or spouts of the previous owners has been dead due to various reasons!" Lynine looks desperate, she can't believe Trazyn will not take her situation seriously.
"You know what? I will befriend you. Just for the sake of proving you are wrong." Trazyn's face is smiling but his tone is serious: "And there's nothing you can do about it."
From the outside, Lynine seemed to be really upset, but these are the words she's been waiting to be heard for a really long time. She still doesn't understand why is Trazyn treating her like this but all she knows is that she finally made a friend, even though this is a very strange person.
