Southern desert is a lawless place, where the rule of the Imperium doesn't reach, not because they can't, but the fact that the place is enormous and has absolutely nothing to offer makes this place a very inefficient place for conquest. However, life still flourishes in this land.
As every day, the lawless land's hub is full of drunken lads and criminals alike. You can always find some blood and teeth on the floor no matter when it's the time you enter the hub. Due to the scorching heat of the southern desert, every habitant of the area has darker skin no matter the race. So, it makes it easier to bully the newcomers who dare to step into this land without even tasting a beating first.
The hub's door got wide open, light from the sun illuminated the darkroom. It's the afternoon, so there aren't a lot of people in the hub, but the person who entered afterward got everyone's attention. A girl wearing a leather jacket entered the door without even looking around, straight went to the bartender, and asked for a cup of "sunflower juice". The bartender seemed to understand something and thus went back to the kitchen to pick up something.
At this moment 3 locals stand up and walk towards her., the leading person's arm is as wide as the girl's thigh, "Eyey, lil grill, wat can ey get ya? Can ey git ya some nice milk becuz lit sims that you nid some milking in yar bone" Strange tone indeed yet still understandable the rest of the hub burst in laughter, they laugh because it is always enjoying seeing a slaughter in an afternoon of this place.
But Monika pretends that she didn't hear whatever they said, she's just calmly waiting for the bartender to come out so she can get going. The locals aren't happy about this response, it seems like a lesson of manner is going to be taught in this hub.
One of the subordinates raised his fists, but half of a second later, he felt an immense pain from his wrist, by the time he inspected his hand, it was already on the ground. Monika cleaned the stained blood on her short sword with a tissue on the table and slid it back to the holster with extreme proficiency. As the handless man falls on the ground crying in pain, the other two run away with a long scream of terror. For a captain of the imperial navy bulling locals might be out of her job description and she might be penalized for it, but who is she kidding in a place where emperor's light cannot shine upon, order and rules need to be taught in a hard way.
Monika grabs a silver cup from the table, using that to adjust some of her loose bangs. The bartender came out of the kitchen with a gasp of horror, then looked at the suspect adjusting her hair. "What …. what have you done?" the bartender asked with a tone of fear: " Do you have any idea who those people work for? Yea sure, you came in tough but who will protect us after you are gone?"
Monika slowly puts her cup down then turns to the bartender with a confident smile on her face: " Give me the thing I am looking for and I shall dispose of the rest for you." Monika is quite confident about her skill, after all, she's both gifted and well trained in combat: "I was sent here to get rid of the manufacture of this sunflower juice of yours. Would you be a kind, sir, to tell this little poor girl here where she can have an audience with the producers? ~" Monika's smile is both spine-chilling and heartwarming, a strange combination indeed.
Before the bartender can say anything, both of them get interrupted by a burst of loud laughter, a guy who's eating in the bar is laughing hysterically. Monika got startled a bit, not because the way he laughs sounds like a dying pig, but she didn't see or sense him the moment she entered the hub. She approaches slowly and sits across the guy. Monika crosses her hand under her chin and looks straight into the man's eyes "what's so funny mister?" she asks. But the ebony-skinned man did not answer, he just continues eating his fries without even glancing at Monika even for a split second, it is strange because most men cannot even take their eyes off someone like Monika.
The dimming sunlight that shines across the broken panel's projects in the lightless bar. Every other customer stops what they are doing and focuses on the mental brawling between these two. One is a captain of the imperial navy, and the other side is just an owner of the bar. The wager was already done before the fight was finished.
When he's finally done with the fries he cleaned his hand thoroughly with the tissue, the way he's cleaning it as if every bit of oil from the fries it's like the bane of his life. But at the same time, Monika is still patiently looking at him as if she's enjoying what she's looking at. When he's done, he finally looks at Monika in the eyes.
"There's really no good way of putting this, so I will just be as straightforward as possible: You messed up big time, lady." Despite the unclean-looking face and the unshaved beard, he spoke with a surprisingly formal gothic accent, which is something a local here cannot learn if they haven't studied in the capital for their entire lifetime.
"What's your name?" Monika is curious about this individual, his attitude is completely different from the way he presents himself, her guess is that this person used to be a city folk but then got washed up to this place.
"Fane Dreyer. my lady. The owner of the hub." He drank a full glass of water, and refilled another cup, the desert area dries the body like nowhere else in this world.
"I don't really understand why you said I messed up big time. Please, enlighten me." Monika's attitude changes based on how's she treated.
"That was a surprising attitude, I thought you would also slice off my arms because I looked at you differently." he then moved his body a bit forwards to Monika:" Let me tell you something young lady, YOU came into my hub without knowing the rule. That, I won't say anything about it because we always keep an open mindedness attitude to every new customer. HOWEVER, YOU CAME INTO MY HUB, ASKING FOR NON-SENSE AND START SPILLING BLOOD AMONG MY LOYAL CUSTOMERS THEN ASKING FOR WHAT?" He chuckles: "ENLIGHTENMENT?" Then he slammed his hands on the table: "You imperial soldiers always apply your own ideals on others but guess what? We are doing just fine. But you? You are not going to." His tone changes completely from polite to enraged, apparently this person had some previous bad experience with the imperium soldiers and Monika's action didn't help as well.
Monika noticed there's a small crack on the reinforced hard wood table. She however is not a bad person, or at least relatively speaking. Monika asks for compensation, but Dreyer pointed his finger at the unconscious local who just lost his arm on the floor:" This guy belongs to an extremely powerful local boss. You made the mess; you pay the price."
"What is the price?" Monika asks carefully.
"Your hand. On. The. Floor, the same way you chopped off his, the rule of the dessert is simply equality, nothing else."
"Not gonna happen."
"..."
"..."
The killing scents are even noticeable from outside the hub, people start gradually leaving the hub, but they didn't leave yet, they have all known the owner for a long time, and they surely know whose ass is going to get kicked today. All of them are the people who cannot endure the imperial rules and therefore all of them are happy to see a person they have respect for teaches an imperial officer a lesson.
Monika moves her left foot a bit backward for a better stance, but as she moves, Dreyer suddenly appears on her side. "So fast" she had an inner gap, Dreyer's speed is unproportionate to his body size, the only way someone can achieve this is through body modification, and Dreyer's speed just tells Monika that this person is either used to be the special forces or someone was used to be a high-ranking officer. Just about Dreyer hit Monika on the back of her head. Monika lowered herself to dodge the attack at a speed that's as well unachievable by a normal human being. Just at the moment she is about to pull her sword, she realizes that Dreyer already got her arms then catapults her to the hub's wall. All of it happened so fast, the only thing people heard from the whole fight is the noise of Monika's body hitting the wall. The impact was hard, the wood on the wall shattered by the force and if Monika isn't also an enhanced soldier, she might have already broken her spine multiple times. Monika tried to get up but soon she fell unconscious a few seconds later.
"Brat." Dreyer looks at Monika without a hint of regret or mercy. He then takes out a short cigar, smoking it like an old captain "These younglings have no respect these days, isn't it?". The bartender said it while cleaning up the mess. Dreyer did not respond; he's just too bothered about all of these things happening in the hub. Before all of it, he was an esteemed colonel on the border of the southern desert guarding against a chaos spawn hole. During his time of serving the imperium, the land was flourishing, unlike the desert, we see right now. That's the point when he's sick of the bureaucracy of the imperium then leaves out everything he fought for. After a few years of struggling, he decides to enjoy his retirement by opening a hub, where everyone can come in, have fun, and tell crazy stories.
Of course, in the Dried eye hub, every day there's bloodshed, but never ever there was a serious injury done in this place, everyone here will forget the fight after a round of drink, this is why Dreyer was unhappy with what Monika did with the locals. When he feels a bit better, he uses his cigar cutter to cut off the ignite part. He then crouches down on the ground to give a close inspection of Monika. He got to admit, even for a retired old soldier who used to work in the Imperium office, Monika's face and her physique is still top tier compared to the servant-maid of the local lords. He then releases a long unfortunate sigh, unfortunate not because he feels sorry about the girl but himself. The reason he needs to follow the rule is that technically his hub is under the rule of the local boss. He needs to do a lot of things he doesn't want because of it. He's done enough hurting for the imperium, now it's just merely the change of the people he serves. He felt like he's like the guard dog for his whole life. Just the moment when Dreyer held Monika's hand and was about to sever her hand from the arm. A strange mechanical noise suddenly toned out of nowhere.
"What is that?" "What the hell is happening?" "Is that a... a Necron? on this planet?" Everyone outside of the hub is whispering in shock about what just happened.
Trazyn is here not because he wants to but to fulfill the bargain between Nova and him:" Make sure that Monika comes back in one piece." Normally Trazyn couldn't care less about the life and death of those inferior beings, all he wants to do is just collect the things he wants and move on to another target, but a bargain is a bargain. if the term is stated as a whole piece then need to get this Monika human back to Nova in a full piece.
"Who are you?" Dreyer has no change of emotion even when he sees a big robot that looks like nothing he has ever seen in his life.
"None of your business, I'm here to pick up the girl." Trazyn said it as if Dreyer is like a piece of meat that knows how to talk.
"Not gonna happen, she broke the rule she gotta pay before she leaves."
"What rule? Can't even believe anyone would be willing to stay in this place, needless to say to be a guard dog of someone." Trazyn's tone is full of arrogance. But he apparently already knows about this place before coming in: "The choices are rather simple if you ask me, either I leave with the girl or I still get what I want but you will lose more than you can lose."
Both of them had argued with each other for the next 30 mins until Dreyer agreed that Trazyn can leave with the girl.
When Trazyn is about to teleport, he decides to stop and watch the sky for some time while carrying Monika in his arms like a groom carrying his bride. That's the time when he sees that Monika restored her consciousness for a few seconds, just within these few seconds, he remembered a promise he made dozens of lifetimes ago, a promise that made Trazyn decide to keep exploring the world instead of sleeping away for another few millennia.
Beyond the dune, a green meteor slides across the sky, but it suddenly turns itself heading towards the nearby stronghold far away from the hub. After the shine of bright light, and a small earthquake Trazyn teleported away with the unconscious Monika.
During the blackout, a lot of things went through Monika's head. She saw some flashbacks of her life, a time where she was the president of the school student console, and the time where her parents never came back from a mission, then the memory about her going through the enhancement, the pain and bad memory kept stirring up as if they would consume her anytime, after a hard cry of agony, she woke up.
She opened her eyes with fear, she tried to get up from her lying position but the searing pain from her body made her collapse on the bed again: "Bed? why am I on a bed?" She asked internally, Monika then takes some time to look around, and eventually find out she's in a place where she recognizes nothing from the environment. Just about she's trying to get off the bed, she hears a series of hard footsteps. Monika immediately went back to bed pretending to be asleep.
"Ohhh, it's a new female plaything, I can finally do whatever I want with her fragile body, and more I want to…." Before the person can finish his sentence, a lamp is flying towards him. But he caught it perfectly. He sees Monika half-kneeling herself on the bed while extremely exhausted after just a simple throw.
Monika finally is able to see this person clearly, Well…. it's not really a person. Just within the simple five seconds of interaction Monika already deem him as the only thing she would eradicate completely from the face of this planet before doing anything else, that is if she's in condition to do that: "Who. The. Hell. Are. You…?" That's the only words that she can squeeze from her mouth before collapsing again on the bed.
2 hours later.
Monika suddenly woke up, the first thing she checked was her body, to see whether that person did anything to her or not. But after a fairly thorough self-check, she thinks that she's in the clear. "Knock knock~" A weird voice coming from behind the door. Monika grabs the royal-made alarm clock next to her, hides it under the blanket. This time she will strike true and bash this person's head off if is necessary.
"..." Monika didn't answer because she wants to pretend to be asleep again but also was a bit weirded out by the tone that person use. She thought she was already prepared for all situations and there isn't a lot of things that could go wrong but when the thing comes in, she froze as if she's on ice. She sees a two meters tall mechanical robot dressing like a human maid, slowly pushing a cart that has food on it. She doesn't know whether she should scream or just simply get weirded out. But in short, Monika doesn't know what to say or what to act in this case. This is actually the first time she's been able to see her surroundings properly. She's lying on a fairly well-made royal king-sized bed. But the time this was made seems off. And the general surrounding of her is all human-made, but if she's looking a bit closer, they are actually all from different times throughout history. Just about Monika about to talk, the robot put his cold metallic finger on her lips, to sign her to stop trying to talk.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
He then used unknown technology to transform back to the Necron overlord outfit with a snap. "Greetings! Honor guest, I hope you are enjoying your rest at the galaxy famous gallery of Solemnace! You are currently sleeping on a custom-made bed that was supposedly for the high-rank official in the very well-known Holy Terra!" he picks up Monika's hand while bowing then pretends to kiss it on the back of her hand. "To answer the first question, you asked when we met, my name is Trazyn, the infinite. Lord of Antique, Overlord of Solemnace, Owner of the Solemnace Gallery, and of course your personal maid from the time being. To simplify things, you can call me Trazyn from now on. I know you have a lot of questions, which I will… of course answer. But let me explain myself from my previous actions. I was simply trying to be 'funny, from what I have seen in human culture is that you people always seemingly use a similar mechanism to light up the 'mood'. These tactics are used often in a first-time meeting base to increase the friendliness index, but I think the joke I made was not of your liking because you responded to me with one of my collections. That's why I've transformed me into a more 'official' method." Seeing the lack of answer from Monika, Trazyn approaches Monika and taps his finger on her head: "Hmm... I don't think you are broken... but the human anatomy is so strange. Maybe if I..."
"Ahem," Monika lightly made a noise to signal Trazyn that she's fine, she would say so many things but if only every word she speaks is like a dagger stabbing her lung, she points her finger at the food cart Trazyn brought in and signals him that she need to drink some water before she can speak.
Trazyn passed on the glass of water and patiently wait for Monika until she's ready to speak: "So... you are a Necron overlord that collects antiquities. And I am lying on a bed that was... stolen from the Holy Terra."
"It seems like your short memory sectors in your brain is functioning as it should!"
"Why am I here? and wherein the hell are my clothes?!" Monika suddenly realizes Trazyn changed her clothes without her permission, maybe she's still processing all of that information and so her brain isn't focusing on the right questions.
"Your clothes have already been washed and folded in the drawer, my lady. But I wouldn't suggest you change it yet, given your current situation isn't that 'optimal. I suggest you rest here from the time being before continuing any other activities. Also, the reason you are here is that I am fulfilling a bargain with someone, the exact details I'd rather not disclose. But from the time being you are safe and sound." The reason he didn't tell Monika about Nova is that Nova told him not to tell Monika about it was her that sent Trazyn to save Monika from the troubles. He then pours in a bowl of soup:" I hope you would like it; I took a recipe from a royal chef who used to serve the high lord general of this planet."
"I will never trust the words of a Xeno and furthermore you expect me to eat what you made?!"Monika is using all of her energy to shout at Trazyn.
"Yes ?"
"It was a rhetorical question, and also..." Monika coughs painfully, and finally, she calms down she continues: "I cannot believe that you would make up all of those stories. What is your true purpose here? What kind of experiment is this?"
Trazyn scoffs: " If I wanted to experiment on you I would, first of all, remove your vocal cord, for a person that suffered five fractures three broken bones, and a concussion, you are surprisingly talkative. Also, I find it strange that you would expect me to do some experiment on you, where did you read things like that?"
"Books about Xenos and that's how I know you are a Necron, a machine, a soulless being." Monika finally calms down completely Trazyn's right, if he wanted to do something fucked up to her, he'd already done so: "So... I am here because of a bargain you made with someone?"
"That is right, but unfortunately that's everything I could tell you. You can take your time, I suggest that you try the soup first, it should help with the hunger." Trazyn then proceeds to leave the room, leaving her alone.
At first, Monika is a bit stubborn about eating the food that was served by a machine, but then with the combination of the amazing smell from the tray and her empty stomach, she opened the tray and had the first taste, "It's amazing, '' Monika said internally, but she still has some doubt with the motive of Trazyn. But thanks to the tiring and painful body, she soon fell asleep again after eating.
It's been a few days after the hub incident, Monika feels a bit better, yet the chest pain is still severe when she's trying to breathe deeply. Usually, with the regenerative gene in Monika's body she won't need more than a few days to fully recover but this time, she felt like a failure or ashamed about her action. Monika leaves the bed and wears her clothes, in the past few days Trazyn has not shown any intention of hostility. And yet Monika is still very skeptical about everything that's happening to her. But soon enough the overwhelming boredom, creep into her, and for the first time, Monika decides to leave the room and to look around. Monika slowly visits the various artifacts that are being displayed on the transparent cases, some of them are of alien origin and some of them can be recognized by Monika.
"Enjoying yourself?" Trazyn suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Monika got startled and almost accidentally pushed over a display case: " Can you please stop teleporting in and out like this? If I am a guest, then I should have the right to complain. Also... Yea, I am quite impressed with the collections you have here."
If Trazyn could show his expression, he would be certainly intrigued by the word choice Monika used: "Oh? How so? Many people call my collection of thieveries and I to have a stained reputation for it."
"I don't think that's true, some of the artifacts have been changed in owners hundreds of times in history and if one of them isn't careful, those artifacts will be gone forever. But at least in this gallery all of these memories that have to withstand the test of time can be remained uncatered in this place." Monika immediately steps away from the display case she almost pushed over on the ground.
Seeing the way Monika talked about Trazyn's work, it makes him seemingly in thought about something, but then Monika saw a shrine-looking place and it immediately grabbed her interest. While Monika is reading the descriptions Trazyn also followed in, and an unnoticeable sigh was let out from him. Elysia is the name that was written on the shrine, this is seemingly to be a place for a memorial: "Is this person...?" Monika asks and zooms into the picture on top of the shrine. This person is seemingly of Eldar origin, pointy ears and slender figures all check the box, but what confuses Monika is the fact that why would Trazyn build a place for her.
"Elysia, an honorable enemy, player, opponents, friend, and... companion." Trazyn loses his usual unseriousness and sass: " She is a fictional character that I wrote about a perfect frenemy."
Monika crosses her arm and narrows her eyes:" Lies." Throughout the days with Trazyn, Monika at some point developed a friend-like relationship with him:" I bet she's someone that was important to you, but you are just too embarrassed to talk about."
"Watch your tone, human." Trazyn suddenly advanced forward to try to scare Monika but she didn't flinch this time.
Instead of even remotely being scared, Monika puts both of her hands on the back and walks slowly towards Trazyn: " Well... If you really don't want to say it then I won't force you, I promise. But... you need to do me a small favor, really nothing big."
"Speak."
"Well... since I have nothing to do here, can you please teach me how to make that soup? I think my sister would love it..." Monika scratches the back of her head and avoids eye contact: " Also... I never really had time to do it or... anything... never mind. I just want to say... thank you for saving me back at the desert." Monika's words were stuttered.
"I told you I was merely fulfilling a bargain." Trazyn doesn't understand what kind of things are in this human girl's brain, are they are just senseless emotion pieces?
Monika shakes her head: "It doesn't matter, you saved me, regardless of what was the intention, and all good deeds need to be compensated."
Trazyn looks at Monika in a strange way: "You do know that I am a machine, right? I mean aren't you scared of a Necron overlord? You know what I am, right?"
"I do know all of that, but I don't really care about any of that. I am taught to see the world without a filter of prejudice, and everyone should be judged based on their action." Monika said it seriously: "You might not think much but trust me in my world, people won't even bother to act for the same deed."
Trazyn shakes his head and chuckles: "You are terribly naive, you know that?"
Monika grins warmly and slightly tilts her head sideways:" Yea, I do hear that a lot. But thanks for the compliment." She shrugged.
Trazyn starting like find this human girl might not be like the other meat bag he's seen so far:" Come with me."
"To what end?"
"I will teach you how to make that soup you so eagerly want to learn."
Nova always knows where her sister is, of course also the fight in the hub, however, she did not expect that her sister would make her chip in that favor this fast. For an imperial officer stealing from the vault that they are supposed to be protecting is high treason and will be sentenced to death. But Nova has already done her fair share of dance with death in her times already.
The underground facility that has Trazyn's artifact is called D1. It is used to be a missile base for planetary defense since Nova has access to all secret facilities, this shouldn't be hard to get in. The hardest part is to try to get the artifact and sneak out without being noticed or found. If she's captured, no amount of rank can save her from that. At this point, she kind of regretted having such a sister who's clearly doesn't have her head right in the place where she's supposed to be.
While she's thinking about the plan, someone knocked on the door. "Come in," she said after hiding the map of the D1 facility. The person who came in is Maverick, he has something to report from the oil rig incident.
"Good morning, Major." He said it while saluting. " I have a report that ought to deliver."
"Hand it in lieutenant." She looks at the report and then at Maverick in an annoyed way "Anything else?" She acted like this because she wants Maverick to be gone as soon as possible so she can keep working on the plan.
"Yes, Major." he clears his voice:" May I go out with you?"
Nova's heart shook a bit, she lays her back on the chair and asks:" What do you mean to go out with me?"
"Getting to know you better, and therefore being in a relationship with you." He said it with a full sincere voice.
"Did you lose a bet or something, you do know that I am your superior officer right? If the HR finds out both of us would be in trouble." Nova is saying this but she kind of like this feeling, when she was in high school, she was top of the class, but she isn't being chased by any guys. At some point in her life, she was craving the feeling of being wanted.
"Major, I've thought about it a lot after the oil rig operation. I was seriously in love with the way you do things and you." He's so honest. But it might be what Nova wants from a man, all of the men in her position are nothing like this. When you reach a certain height, the people who work there are either extremely wealthy or the people who would do anything to preserve their power. Having a relationship like this would undoubtedly be career suicide.
"This is too sudden; can you give me a bit of time to think about it?" Nova smiled a bit while saying that.
"Of Course, Major, have a nice day." Then he leaves the room.
As Maverick leaves the room, Nova feels like her face is burning. She said a lot of unrecognizable silly things while having a breakdown. But soon she recovered from that. She tries to find someone to talk to about this thing, but she just realizes that she doesn't have anyone who would talk about private matters in her life except her sister. She lightly hits her own face to sober up a bit, then continues to plan for the heist.
Outside the D1 base
Nova activates her invisibility function in her suit:" Alright, Nova, this is nothing, it's just about being a Major trying to break into the secret facility that's exactly what you should protect." she said it to herself internally. Nova starting the count down on her watch she has only twenty minutes to get out in before the troopers are here. When she's checking the security around the facility, she senses something wrong. No imperial forces outside the facility to patrol? That seems off. But she still jumps across the fence then enters from the side door.
She enters an elevator tunnel that leads directly to the - 20 F, which is where the blade is. She suddenly sees a little mouse roaming near her, but the moment it enters the elevator shaft, it got lasered into a piece of coal.
Nova didn't flinch but she frowned a bit after realizing this place is not so easy after all, she activates signature scan to see where the laser is coming from, then calculates a precious bounce shot from her sniper rifle. After pulling the trigger, she got the laser weapon in the elevator shaft. She then proceeded to slide through the cable, until the -20F.
Before doing anything, Nova located the power cell of the floor and then proceed to short circuit it, this process should buy her another five minutes before the backup generator kicks in. This process should give her plenty of time to both arrive at the vault and open it with her decode device. Just as everything went as planned, a green orb appeared in front of the vault.
She thought it was Trazyn again, because that's the same technology Trazyn uses to teleport. She then disables her invisibility suit walking towards the light, but when the light fades a hand grabs her neck, lifts her up like she's a toy. Nova suddenly realizes this is not Trazyn, she tries to struggle off, but the grip is getting harder and harder.
"Insect." a mechanical voice said with a monotone then strengthens his hands, just about Nova gets her neck snapped, she throws a small breach bomb on his face. Because of the blast, he let Nova go. But when the smoke disappears, he seems to be unscratched. He did not continue his advance, instead, he used his staff to point to the vault, after a loud explosion, the two meters thick steel vault got a hole blast through. Inside, there is Trazyn's artifact.
Nova is hiding in a corner with her invisibility suit on, there is no way that she could stop him. Instead, she made a tactical retreat. On her ride back, she's still terrified of the sheer power that blast did to the vault and what she's supposed to say to Trazyn when she calls him.
For a robot that lived for millennials, seeing countless being come and go but teaching a human girl how to cook is something that he's never done. Well, the end result is rather interesting because for some reason by Monika's hand every combination of food can be turned into something hazard-like: "How did you make fire out of vegetables.?" After seeing the failed products Trazyn decides to stop adding more victims to the piles.
While eating the food Trazyn made, Monika couldn't help but feel a bit down, she was never a great cook or doing anything chore likes, but when she was young her cooking was liked among her friends and sometimes even her sister. But apparently, she lost her talent after the enhancement surgery. When Monika finished her food, she moved to the chair a bit closer to Trazyn: "So... Are you always like... a machine?" Monika asks.
"No, not really. But I don't really miss the time when I had a flesh body with me." Trazyn answered while still trying to fix the lamp that was thrown by Monika the first day. He could fix it with his enhanced technology in a second, but he also believes that the special way of fixing his collection in the way that it's supposed to be fixed, is also an artifact that is worth collecting. Trazyn couldn't do it, even though he has similar knowledge of dealing with similar projects. But after trying all of the ways he could think of, he still cannot fix this very specific lamp. Monika is very interested in fixing this type of thing, she and Nova usually make their own trinket and weapons because the weapons that are fitting for them are not in the arsenal of the imperium.
Monika carefully opens the lamp from the bottom, and then starts to examine the problems, to be honest, she also felt bad about this because it was her who threw that lamp at Trazyn. But when she starts digging into the inner structure and eventually took out a broken piece of metal that was disrupting the circuit: "Tada!" Monika presents the fixed lamp to Trazyn with a proud face.
"Very impressive, human." Trazyn examines the lamp and confirmed that it is indeed fixed.
"Hey! Stop calling me human! I have a name." Monika pouts.
"Then what is your name?"
"Monika, Monika Terra. But just call me Monika."
"You successfully demonstrated the combinations of your name." Trazyn said in a sassy way: " Alright, Monika. Wait..." Trazyn just realized something: "Did you say your family is Terra? As in Nova Terra ?"
"Oh no... Do you know Nova? Did she do anything harmful to you?" Monika looks worried.
"No, but she did leave quite an impression if you ask me. We met in an underground facility and that encounter eventually led to me escorting you out of the hub." since they are sisters then there's really no point for him to hide this part of the information anymore.
Monika didn't reply to that, she just sits on the chair while crossing arms, her expression is rather readable as she felt embarrassed, she's kind of sick that Nova kept micromanaging every move she is going but she's also thankful that if isn't here, she's probably already dead in that hub.
"You seemed troubled by this information." Trazyn sits across Monika: "Do you want to discuss it?"
"No... i am fine, it's just a sister thing you know. When someone is so close to you, it is getting harder and harder to even say thanks to that person. And eventually, you stray further away from them, now I don't even know how to talk to her anymore."
Trazyn then pulls out a hologram projector from his pocket dimension storage unit: "This is Elysia." He projects a hologram that has a Eldar woman on it: " Around five thousand years ago, I encountered with her, and we were all after an artifact that belongs to the old ones. We fought in countless battles and sometimes we had to protect the artifact from third parties. We got pretty close, but eventually, we had to decide who is getting the artifact."
"How did it end?"
Trazyn points at the base of the shrine:" This is where she lies, she will not be a collection of mines. Instead, she has earned my eternal respect and rest peacefully until the day the gallery is gone."
"I am sorry."
"No, I am glad you asked, so more people will know what kind of person she is. I felt... pain when I had to drive my blade through her heart as if I was the one who got pierced."
Monika seemingly noticed something, instead of pointing out the fact that he's a machine, she stays with him and asks Trazyn about their history for quite a long time. And interestingly Monika seemingly liked the stories Trazyn is talking about. In the end, Trazyn is getting fond of this human girl, at least when he's with her the emptiness in his soul is somehow feeling... less empty.
