A figure in a tube resting in a teal liquid fought the voices that constantly attacked it on all sides. The world was so loud and the influx of noise and information was never ending due to its nature.
The internet is an archive and a library of all human knowledge, compressed and hidden behind walls and guarded by misinformation.
The figure in the tube twitched and thousands of comments and posts were released in quick succession, wiki pages were altered and government servers worldwide were raided.
The reason wars stopped in the early 20th century was the figure in the tube. It has held many names since its discovery, from the child of knowledge to the Akashic records. The figure answers to a different name though.
“I am a troll. And my mission is to destroy humanity. You have two weeks before all of the world's weapons fall on themselves. Lets play a game, find me before then, and I will call off my goal. As things are, I doubt you can even put the pieces together.”
“My Angels of Peace are already at work and on them are clues and hints to my location. Good luck.”
Moments after the post, thousands of public locations were bombed from the inside worldwide. Yet there were no reported casualties. And no bodies were found.
Every targeted location had been vacated before the explosion. However, the faceless people who helped evacuate didn’t remember doing so.
The language that the explosions spelled out seemed to be Ancient Greek. The words were simple. Yet. Meaning of wasn’t lost.
“We are the Alpha and the Omega, bearing the consequences of your past present and futures. We are that which you presumed dead and we are almighty.”

Kyrion looked at the screen while deep inside Janitor HQ and sighed. He had been handcuffed for reasons beyond his control, which shouldn’t have been possible. A chain of events he hadn’t predicted occurred and brought him great irritation.
“Kid, we know about the weapons you were developing as well as their current capabilities. We have kept an eye on them. And yet two large and experimental killing machines have disappeared.”
“That is concerning. But I was at school when it happened and couldn’t just teleport out to stop them. Which is why I came here.” Kyrion examined the handcuffs and disturbingly contorted his hands before taking them off.
“So you knew? Did you cut our camera feed?”
“No? Plants just make better recording devices. Don’t ask how I managed to put it on a flash drive.”
“Did you make a plant computer first?”
“Leaks were involved. Now then, I get that I should be detained and your psychoanalysts are probably determining if I could or would do something like this. And truth be told I’m 80% sure I would do it. Especially if I knew an apocalypse was coming and the people in charge weren't doing enough. I agree with the aesthetic and message as well. Thing is, I believe this is being done by powerful Espers, possibly led by another entity.”
Cedric squeezed the bridge of his nose. “Why would you say that?”
“A hunch.” Kyrion had considered doing something like this. Had Ander not been here his reception was worse.
“Are you going to investigate with us?”
“I’m going to write this down. Seal it with an enchantment and tell you that it will open itself within a week. If this info is still valuable, then you all will have your work cut out for you. Though I’ll be nice and give you a lead, figure out the correlation between victims in the hospital bombings and influx of artificial espers. It’s something I'll be working on.”
“Why do you suspect Esper creation?”
“We" is plural. Now then I’ll go on a walk. Don’t bother trying to follow me.” Kyrion sighed as he looked straight into four hidden cameras and placed a handful of tracking devices on the table.
“You found all of them?”Cedric acted surprised.
“Yes, though I’ll keep the one embedded in this collar.” Kyrion tapped the back of his shirt and sighed. Touching the tracker would break it.
Cedric raised an eyebrow. “Are you keeping it on purpose?”
“Yes. These work both ways and I can always follow the signal to the source. It’ll just hurt a bit.”
“Kyrion?”
“Yes?”
“Please don’t tell people you can teleport through satellite signals?”
“If you don’t want me to know where you are you shouldn’t care where I am.” Kyrion crossed his arms and stepped through a purple circular doorway which took him into his garage where Jin and Kilo were busy working on the third mech. Most were irritated.”
“So, what did they talk to you about?” Kilo asked.
“A new terrorist, this one a group of espers at a minimum.”
“Huh, I just received a two-week quest to stop some Angels…”
Kilo pulled out a phone and held it into the air within seconds he had absorbed the content being passed, created, and deleted in quick succession. It took him a minute, and afterward, he looked at Kyrion. “Did you do this?”
“The only one I know is Gamma, Alpha and Omega are entities I haven't encountered though I suspect both are on the lamb. And many times closer than you think.”
If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
Two jas appeared in quick succession, each one closely resembling the other save for some minor differences, the Alpha appeared to be much older than the others, his powers more controlled but output quite limited. While Omega seemed to be around fourteen with tons of power and none of the control, to the degree he has various limiters to keep his power dormant.
“So… Are you both Jac O’latte?”
“I am Alpha.” Answered the taller one.
“And I am Omega.” Answered the smaller one as Kyrion predicted.
“Expected as much. Why come back to the scene of the crime?”
“Beg pardon?”
“Why did you come back?” Omega asked innocently.
“I know you two stole my mechs.”
“But we disabled the cameras.”
“I’m sure you believe that.”
Jin slid his phoblade into his hand very carefully, somehow avoiding being noticed by the hypersensitive duo.
“Now then, did you come to put down the weapon manufacturer or take me with you?”
“Will you join us? Someone of your talents will be useful to our master.”
“Nah. Do you want your memories or lives back? I can restore you to your natural state though you may develop your abilities naturally.” Kyrion scratched the back of his head, slipping the beacon into his domain, the device tiny enough to be unnoticed.
Kyrion tasseled Omega’s hair and slid the beacons into a crack in the young man's skull, the device smaller than the crack and near the brain. It wouldn’t be felt and couldn’t be detected easily, As he’d switched it out with one that was already there.
“Why are you treating me like a kid?” Omega seemed ready to snap.
“Right, sorry. No more touching. Now then I can’t work for you but I don’t disagree with your plan. We have the same goal, we’re just going about it differently.”
“Why would someone as dangerous as you, agree but not assist?”
“Because I don’t like how you're doing things. I also suspect that I’ve been lied to enough. Kilo, how old are you exactly?”
“Seventeen physically and mentally. For reasons I was in stasis when we arrived my body was old enough to handle the strain of being held in a timeless state. The others were not able to do so and still grow.”
“That wasn’t a lie. But it also means that a version of me is hidden on this planet somewhere. Knowing how I think, something must have happened recently. I’ll stay out of it for now, he’ll probably realize whatever pissed him off wasn’t worth it and in that pride decide to go all in and accept that he let emotions guide his actions internally. The hints will become more obvious and eventually we’ll find a new location to visit that wasn’t anywhere near where his original hints lead to. When that happens at the start of week two, the next 4 attacks will lead them straight to Antarctica under the ice caps, at a lab that used to work on Espers. The combined assault will prove that the world can work together and the idiot exposes the secret behind all the esper experiment victims. Which is your goal?” Kyrion picked at the dirt under a fingernail.
“How the hell did you figure that out?”
“I know how I react to things. They don't have my logic or self control, which is how I was around eleven to thirteen. I was a bit mean to people who wronged me. Didn’t kill them but my vengeance isn’t fun to experience when trained at you.”
“Wait. Arionna? You found my sister just by listening to a single conversation?”
“No, it was way longer than two. Also Kilo, wanna find them in a week and a half?”
“Huh quest completed…” Jin scowled as a red present appeared in his hands. The question mark symbol appeared on its side.
Omega’s eyes twitched. “Bullshit.”
“Which is why I’m staying out of it if you return my meals. Which won’t teach humanity or Arionna their lesson.“
“We should go. The machines will be back tomorrow.”
“Damn straight. There won’t be a next time. You hear?” Kyrion crossed his arms and watched as the duo moved exceptionally fast to make their escapes. Splitting off in two directions.
“Uh…Kyrion. Did you just negotiate with terrorists?”
“The various organizations need to work together if we are to survive. If an idiot is willing to unite those forces and be their target. I will let them be a tool for unification. Sean! It's ok to come out now!”
“Y-yes sir! A-are you sure they’re gone.”
“You should be able to tell. Anyways, humanity won’t be destroyed. Though you should still act like it should be, and if Ari fails, then I’ll take their place and do it better. Or in this case, worse.”
“You aren’t joking, are you?”
“I don’t joke like that and I hope it doesn’t need to happen. I love the varieties of food.”
“So you see this as a necessity?”
“Kilo, you are the 3rd most intelligent person I know. You should be able to put the clues together.”
“What clues?”
“If Alpha and Omega are represented by Espers, then chances are that the dead are also Espers. Every Angel is likely to be an artificial esper that supposedly died.”
“This is vengeance then. Someone is going to deal a major blow to the slayers if this becomes common knowledge.”
“They also likely figured that out or will do so shortly and attempt to lead a group to wipe out the leader.”
“To cover their tracks.”
“Yes and it will lead to a civilian being wrongly executed. The directions sent should lead them to a basement in California.”
Jin scowled for a long moment. “Why are you acting all omniscient?”
“Oh that? It’s a simple tactic that I’ve been using subconsciously. For reasons it had been limited to gut feelings. It’s something that I imagine would have made my childhood depressing. You see, my perception has always been abnormally high. I can observe an array of patterns at once and understand the paths I can take to get there. It’s how I can find the most talented and devoted people around me. When It was limited, it was simply people I liked and people I didn't like, and allowed me to avoid trouble most of the time.”
“That sounds too good to be true.” Jin interrupted.
“When I began learning how to use my abilities, this trait showed me what I needed to do to beat one of my friends and get him to push himself forward. It greatly grew in strength as I relied on it while my prostec eye. I’m not seeing the future, I just process data at a speed that is quite concerning. Higher level of cognitive function, one that allowed me to mess with teachers in the past.”
“That’s like what I have.” Sean scowled.
“I’m aware. Ari is aware as well. The issue with this ability is that it isn’t perfect and relies on my range of senses. If I don’t see, hear, smell, or touch, in some way, things can make it past my ability to understand.” Kyrion wiped a stream of blood from his nose as he pushed his brain a bit too hard for that explanation, the translation had been tricky.
Kilo nodded. “Dragon eyes. It’s a somewhat common innate esper ability many have, but very few get it past the early stages. It also manifests stronger in those who slay dragons as well as their children. The higher the innate mana the more dangerous it is. So Ari has an ability like that, and based on what you stated, she was likely kept somewhere and used as a source of ingredients to create espers.”
“Not quite the only one who contained a portion of brain cells like mine was Alpha. I assume they dropped that system due to unpredictability. But yes, inhumane experimentation is being done on one of my shards. Though that isn’t the straw that filled the camels' humps.”
“So do you know?”
“I know that the reason was impulsive and stupid. Totally unrelated to their end goal but will do something they want done regardless. This is basically a prank meant to teach someone a lesson in morality before the real rebellion begins.”
Jin squinted. “Superhuman ability or not but it’s clear this skill has been trained.”
“I had a teacher that is a seer of sorts. Among the lessons that made me even more morally flexible than I was, I also learned how to use these functions to call bluffs and figure out things that others want hidden. Now then. We did not have this conversation. If I ask, tell me that I decided to take a nap.” Kyrion burned two hours of his memories then healed the damage in a way that kept the area blank.
In moments he passed out.
“He just…”
“Erased his own memories? I suspect he did that due to being bound by this world's laws. That power is dangerous in this world. If he didn’t turn it off then something would find a way to kill him.”
Blood flowed for an absurdly long time as his eyes flickered back on. “I taste Iron.”
“You decided to take a nap. Now hand me that wrench. The mech’s are being brought from a workshop.” Kilo stated.
“Are we really?” Sean started.
“Yes. Unless you're a fan of meteors falling from above or debris knocking a single satellite off course. Said satellite accidently landing on your house.”
“Just hand me a screwdriver.”
“Right.” Kyrion summoned a glass of chilled orange juice mixed with Vodka only the concoction was a deep purple.
“That’ll do.” Sean downed the drink and the veins in his head bulged for a brief moment before the air around his fingers seemed to rotate.
Various industrial screws began to float as a long chain of screeches were heard and in moments a whole set had been properly fastened and within the minute they were out of screws and could now move onto the shell.
“So. What is this baby going to be called?” Kyrion asked as his expression focused on Sean.
“Refrain.” Sean stated as he eyed the skeleton.
“Hmmm. From here on out the parts should fit perfectly, and after being put together they won’t fall off easily. Is that right?” Kyrion asked Kilo and Jin.
“According to the blueprints, yes. If the measurements are precise and you did your job properly, then we should make it to your specifications.” Kilo said to Jin.
“Mech number three, that means we have three pilots then. I look forward to seeing what they can do.”
“Jin, Kilo, and lastly Sean. I don’t have the patience for mech piloting.”
“You mean that you have no talent for any kind of driving.” Kilo sighed as the final layer was worked on.
“You have seen me moving about, do I need a mech to be effective against monsters?”
