Kyrion’s lunch consisted of four quarter-pound burgers stuffed with an absurd amount of fries and a few whole fruits sitting around the half haphazardly. For him, it was a light lunch though to the many who saw someone with his build put down.
Kilo, on the other hand, had a salad, with no meat or dressing. It was rather plain, consisting of none of the little toast things, either. Not to say that it was bad, but that it looked plain. Next, to the food was a packet of supplements that he’d need to consume right after.
“So…Kilo, are you vegan?” Kyrion asked as he drew a sound distortion ward with a fry in ketchup.
“Kind of. It’s more of a health issue for me.”
“Understandable.”
“I doubt it. Didn’t you say that your body was a temple?” Kilo eyed the junk arrayed about.
“Ah, right, my body is a testament to health, though the food here is a bit oily… Kind of makes my fire affinity angry.”
“So…It also hurts your organs.”
“What do you mean?” Kyrion said innocently.
“The meat and animal byproducts here cause me harm. I’m a bit sickly you see. It's a genetic thing, my younger siblings didn’t survive the trip here due to our bodies being weak to the carbon in the air, as well as pollution. It wasn’t until a few years back when we received some medicine to temporarily counteract the damage this world causes to our bodies. Still I usually keep trips like this to a minimum.”
“I see. This world causes your abilities to trigger uncontrollably and due to your tech based powers it’s easy to leave your bodies behind. Which would mean that you know the construct in my eye.”
“Yes, that would be my third youngest sister, Deci. I’m surprised that she grew attached to you so quickly. Usually while we’re in that state, our conscious minds are spread across a vast network, where information can corrupt. It takes time to gather up our minds, which Is why i’m currently one of two that have a body so far.”
“Wait so you knew this whole time.”
“Of course I know, we can actually communicate through a chat function that's encoded just for us. Something not even the greatest of minds could try to cipher quick enough to matter. Get it wrong and your device is infested with a virus.”
“Gotcha.” Kyrion did not like the fact that everything he saw, his sister would see as well. He should probably.
“Wait…Why don’t you just remake her body and put her in there. Since she’s conscious.”
[My own body?] A new voice joined the echo chamber that was Kyrion’s brain.
“So you can speak. I don’t want you in my head all the time if possible.”
[I’m not reading your mind, I just hate not being able to see so many things.]
“Yes…But I'm a dude and I like to do dude things without my sisters looking at me in scorn.”
[Coating yourself in honey and running from bees is pretty dumb.]
“I did no such thing.”
[That was your most recent dream.]
Kyrion’s face fell as he appeared dumbstruck. “Liar, it was buttered carrots! And the monsters were giant rabbits. Why doesn’t childhood trauma just die when you get older?”
「Uh huh.]
“I’m not sleeping until you’re gone.” Kyrio Crossed his arms
“Blech.” Kilo cringed.
Karl spoke in his head with raised eyebrows. [Quit messing with him. We both know you can’t access his dreams due to his mental defenses. That was my dream.]
Kyrion suddenly seemed curious before horror dawned as he said his trauma aloud for no reason. “Why would you dream of such a thing?”
[I dream of becoming a beehive sometimes. All those perfectly geometric patterns get me—never mind. I like some shapes and patterns.]
“I now have concerns. Though we can discuss this later.”
Kilo sighed as Kyrion returned. “So… you’re back.”
“I didn’t…Yes. Sometimes I wonder if I'm losing my sanity.”

“Couldn’t tell you. So, still want it removed?”
“Yup. Some things are best not shared. Also I need to go home soon.” Kyrion polished off his last tangerine and sighed.
“Ah, no need to worry on that account. Unless you intend to make her a body.”
“Karl? Can you do that?”
[Fine, but bring me some of this world's metals. Their gold and our gold seem to be different substances, as well as the alloy they call bronze. There is this thing known as a Saxophone, that should do.] Karl gave Kyrion a quest that he’d likely fail.
“You make it sound like making a human body is easy.”
“It’s very easy, if you manage to capture a dungeon.” Kyrion leaned on the back of his hand as a certain interloper arrived.
“Kilo? Where were you this weakened?”
“Came down with a fever. Gotta get sick sometimes.” Kilo rubbed his ring and sighed.
“So what does it do?”
“Water, rain, and balance.” Kyrion said with a glance.
“Kyrion.” Kilo whispered and yelled.
“How do you know?”
“I’m currently staying with him. Of course I'd figure out what it does.” Kyrion didn’t mention that it used Issac as a template. His Issac.
“Ah forgot about that. How was the casting?”
“I put my best foot forward, but I am a hard person to act around, due to my natural attention drawing charisma. I kept taking attention away from the main talent.” Kyrion stated truthfully, main talent meaning the people from this world who couldn’t fight the terrors that broke in early.
If the end was supposed to be soon, there was a chance that it was supposed to be after those rifts had time to properly mature.
“A shame you didn’t get a ring, new kid.”
“I mean…I could always try again later. It offered me a chance to gain power along with that girl who skipped the meet-up. A shame someone with her talents deemed such a thing crazy.
“A talent?”
“Compulsion. She can order people to do things, as long as there is a chance that they will actually do it. If there isn’t, then the recipient is unaffected. That's its limitation anyways. As far as I know, it only works once on a target.”
“How do you know so much? I don’t even think she knows that much.”
Kyrion was going to say because he studied his mental affinity very closely for a while to figure out counters in case he’d been brain-jacked. But instead, he chose the Cecil approach. “Animus.”
“Souls?”
“No the T.V thing.”
“Huh, guess that could be true.”
“So it’s limited to being things they’d do anyways. She can’t force a suicide.”
“But she could inadvertently push someone over the edge. Which is probably why she uses it often and on everybody, in subtle ways. People like her so they’d follow most orders without her needing the power and it allows her to keep from accidentally ordering something dangerous.”
“Is there anything your eyes don’t see?”
“Who knows. I had to get used to using one after a run in with a monster.” Kyrion touched his prosthetic and flinched as a jolt passed through him.
“So, Kilo, are you still sick? Your face seems red today.’
Kyrion tilted his head to the side. Kilo was always like this when she was around, it was just his robotic body didn’t express emotions that an untrained eye could catch.
“He’s feeling a bit shy.” Kyrion joked as he felt a shoe connect with his leg and winced.
For someone so embarrassed Kilo managed to have a decent poker face considering he broke one of his toes.
“Well, madam president, it seems I may actually need to get him to the nurses office. He’s still a bit sick.”
“I’ll go with you.”
Kilo didn’t say anything as he took his medicine, then motioned for Kyrion to help him up.
Kyrion sneakily applied a regeneration spell to Kilo and squinted as he noticed quite a bit of organ damage.
“I think I got this. You should go to class.”
“What type of Girlfriend would I be if I left him in such a situation?”
“One who prizes education. But that's not what you're focused on.” Kyrion shook his head.
“Keep that up and you’ll take your cousin’s place as stone cold.”
“To be fair, one of us has to be pragmatic.” Kyrion led them to the nurse's office where he waited for him to get checked in. In the end, Kyrion managed to weasel out of leaving due to knowing Kilo’s condition, while Mira had to leave as she still had class.
“So. How briefed are you on his condition?” Kyrion asked.
“His body degrades quite quickly while not in his capsule as his consciousness tries to separate from his body in response his body tries to break apart.”
“That would be right. I originally came here as an excuse, but I noticed that quite a few of his organs were damaged. Does this world not have magical healing or is it ineffective on him?”
“We do not have magical healing here, Esper abilities can restart hearts, set bones, get blood to flow and other limited things. Minor cuts and scrapes can be healed, aside from that we can’t regrow what’s lost or regenerate limbs.”
“Ah. What of the mystical techniques each country has a piece of?”
“I do not have access to that phenomenon.”
“So you’re a natural esper miss?”
“Yes, a second gen, my mother was an artificial Esper and I inherited the ability. I can do a bit of first aid, but I'm no healer.”
Kyrion slipped a vial out of his domain and set it on the counter. “When you get home, drink this, aside from that, I’ll heal him this time just watch.”
Kyrion placed a hand over Kilo’s chest as he caused wind mana to swirl around it. He held it there for a long moment as green sparks flowed into his skin and moved deeper repairing everything it passed. The air that was inhaled worked to heal and reinforce Kilo’s lungs and airways.
The healing magic Kyrion used wasn’t his usual brand, as he tended to keep the visual effects hidden. But that was something that would take practice to perfect for someone without that talent. It also helped to show exactly what was being repaired as Kilo’s bones, muscles and organs could be seen in layers above.
“When you get good enough with healing magic, you won’t need to materialize the screen or make your hands glow to use this magic. It’s just hard to notice that I did something if I don’t make my hands glow. I usually use it on those unaware of how magic works back home or when I notice someone is pretending to be sick.”
“Look right here.” The nurse pointed to some odd gem-like lumps in his kidneys and liver.
“Yes. I believe that's the root of the disease in this case, but as I’m not aware of what it is, I can’t risk healing it only to find out that it’s an adaptation. The damage and tears though, that I can heal.”
The nurse watched as his body was somewhat adjusted and the damaged organs were back to normal.
“If you can make use of what I just gave you, let me know, and if you have a union for this type of thing I want to spread this knowledge. This world has quite a bit of life energy,” Kyrion gave the nurse a second vial.
“A second?”
“Give this to someone you trust will use it for good. I do not intend to be overworked.” Kyrion looked to Kilo who quickly regained consciousness.
“Huh, I need to get back to the tube. Though I do feel great. Today put too much stress on my body.”
“I understand. Do you know what those growths in various organs are?”
“On my homeworld there is a drug made from a powered stone and sniffed. It’s known as Gift, and it’s highly addictive. My grandmother was an addict that sold my father for a gram of the substance when he was a newborn. A side effect of Gift is that it creates a type of cancer in our bodies that draws in mana. Overtime we can gain powerful innate talents. The change rewrites our DNA, and lasts for three generations starting on the maternal side. The consumer, their child, and their children. Here these additions to our organs are more of a detriment, which is why we spend our time in capsules.”
“So, removing the damage would seal your magic?”
“I don’t know.”
“Based on what I can see, you need to fix that before you fix anything else if you want to live outside a tank. Is your magic truly worth your life and freedom?”
Kilo didn’t hesitate. “No. But my dad knows more and has’t risked touching them. Though he isn’t a healer.”
“Ah. That explains it.” Kyrion waited for Kilo to call for his dad before escorting him to the car. From there he arrived late to his next class.
