For a drunk, he had a surprising amount on him. This is what I found.
-10 Gold, 20 silver
-A ruby gemstone necklace
-2 silver daggers
-bronze short sword
-a small wooden shield
-Olaf's journal
-wooden training sword
Gold at this stage in the game is exceptionally rare. The largest guilds have only reached level 30. You would have to transfer real-life funds into the game, and that function isn't scheduled for release for another month. Even so, Gold was not the greatest treasure I found, it was the second wooden sword. This meant I could keep my sword! It may turn out to be useless, but I have a feeling about it.
I turned to leave but felt the spark of inspiration enter my mind. I wonder...
Ten minutes later Olaf finally woke with a start. The traumatic memory of his recent experience seemed to come rushing back as I stood before him with my wooden sword inches from his face.
I had grown tired of waiting, but I had to know if I was right. Had I found my first glitch?
Olaf cried out fearfully, "Wait! Stop! Haven't you finished your quest? Where are my weapons? My ruby! "
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
I pulled out the necklace, and calmly said, " Oh, you mean this? Belonged to your mother, yes?"
He began to stutter in response, " Yes..how do you know that? Wait..my journal..tell me you didn't!"
I laughed and said, " Of course I read it! You took forever to wake up! You see I have a problem. A spell left me trapped in the body and now no one will take me seriously! "
He didn't understand, Olaf tearfully exclaimed, " I do! Please just give me back my stuff. Ill help you! "
I laughed and simply said, " Yes, you'll help me, just not how you want to."
He seemed even more confused, Olaf shook his head and said, "What do you mean?"
I smiled and stroked my chin thoughtfully as I said, "Well it all depends on the next few seconds. See with this quest I can use this sword to hit you and no guard will come. I haven't turned in the quest, so I wonder if I can still hit you?"
He barely had time to utter the word, " What!?" before I smashed him on the head with the sword.
He cried out, "Oww!", as I began to rain blows down upon him. He tried to defend himself but I had taken all of his weapons.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
There was nothing he could do, and he seemed to have little to no reflexes. He was a terrible warrior. In fact, it was hard to believe he was ever a soldier. After 20 strikes he passed out from the pain.
Ding! Sword skill leveled up. Lvl 1/10
+5% damage, +10% critical damage.
Ding! Strength increased by 1.
Yes! My strength increased! I looked around and my heart soared because not a single guard was alerted.
My training may very well pay off. Since I was 8 I dreamed of the fame and prestige of becoming a professional gamer. I had trained in the only way available. The virtual private space. Basically, just a virtual room that kids could use to get used to the virtual world. The integration between the mind and the virtual space requires a unique force of will. Though the world feels real it is your brain's willpower that provides endurance. Using this tiny space I trained the limitations of my virtual body to be vastly superior to my physical one. In theory, since I am using a sword that is heavy to me, swinging it should be considered strength training. It will cap at a certain point but when it does the sword will feel like swinging air.
I walked into the Tavern and bought a bucket of ice water for one copper. I didn't feel like waiting ten minutes so I decided to try and wake him the old fashioned way. I dumped the water on him and he woke with a scream, " Noo...please!!Don't!!! "
I smiled at the digital program showing such fear and said, "Now let's start again, shall we? ".
Thump! Thump! Thump!
