Chapter 9 - Return

Chapter 9 - Return

“What is this energy? Why is it so powerful?”

One man asked as his body felt light as a feather. The energy that was released earlier caused the pressure covering his body to fade.

All the others who were kneeling like him also felt the release of pressure. Yet, that did not mean they weren’t afraid, it just meant they had more control over their bodies than before.

Their legs felt heavy and no matter what, they couldn’t move. Their bodies were still in shock.

Thomas who was the closest to the male lion felt the most pressure. His vision was hazy but he’d survive. Getting up off the ground he jumped back getting some distance between him and this beast.

The male lion must not have thought much of him as it allowed him to retreat. Inside it was focused on the ray of light surrounding Charles and Celia.

Thomas looked at the ray of light, he heard what she said. Celia J. Harper, Lord of the sixth.

‘What is she doing here in the USA? Shouldn’t she be in Britain with the others? With the rocky relationship between us and them, I assumed the alliance would be broken soon. Yet, for them to send her here, I was mistaken.’

Thomas knew of Celia’s family as well as the relationship her country had with the United States. They were allies for the longest time, but their relationship currently was not in the best position.

Thomas took this chance to assess everyone's life force. So far no one was in critical condition, but he could tell they were not in the best shape. Exhausted and wounded, they were the perfect prey for these two demonic beast to crush.

Some had already lost hope as they stayed down on the ground pretending to be dead.

As the ray of light faded Celia and Charles were different than before.

Charles skin was ashy gray, his gray hair was dark blue and flowed down to his back. There were six horns on his head that looked like a crown, and in the middle of his forehead was a silver cross. His clothing was the same, still in his butler outfit.

Celia on the other hand, had long silver hair, with two blue horns sticking out from the side of her head. Her skin was still as creamy as before, but she wore a white dress that clung closely to her body with light blue embrodding. The dress stopped at her upper thigh showing a bit of her skin, but it was quickly covered by some blue stockings that went down to her white heels. On her forehead was the same cross on Charles, except it was blue in color, while a pair of blue wings spread out from her back.

One looked like a demon princess, while the other looked like a faithful follower.

Both of them emitted a frightful aura, much different from what was shown earlier.

Nick wiped the blood from his mouth with the back of his left hand as he looked at the newly emerged Celia and Charles.

“Who… what are you exactly?”

Nick asked Celia who smiled at him.

Celia reached out her hand to Nick and caressed his cheek.

“Nick! It’s been so long since i’ve last seen you, there is much I want to catch up on and so much more I want to share with you.”

Celia’s voice was gentle but had a seductive tone behind it.

Nick was confused, something was off about her. Not only her looks, he just felt she was showing off a different personality than before.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

Opening his mouth to speak, Celia placed her finger over his lips to silence him.

“There’s a time and place for everything Nick. If you want to know who I am, then wait until we return. For now, we have more pressing matters to attend to.”

Celia said as she looked at the demonic male lion.

‘What are you doing? I don’t sound like that!’

‘Oh please, we both know you’ll never capture anyone's heart acting cute and innocent. We both know you’re not innocent, especially with what happened in the past.’

‘That was a long time ago!’

‘It still happened. You think once he learns the truth things will stay the same?’

‘T-that. I don’t know.’

‘Then just trust me like you’ve done so long ago. I just woke up, it’s been a while since i’ve stretched my legs.’

‘How much of your strength has returned?’

‘Hard to say, but ten percent sounds about right.’

‘Then why’d you want to come out? We both know that’s not enough to kill that female lion! You’re going to make me look bad.’

‘Don’t need to do something you’re already doing yourself. Besides, I wanted to see my fiance. It’s been a while.’

‘He doesn’t even like you!’

‘Look at him, that gaze of his just makes me want to push him down and…’

‘Stop! I don’t know why I agreed to your request. Merging bodies with you was the worst decision i’ve made.’

No one knew Celia was having a conversation with herself, afterall it only lasted a few seconds.

Nick started to think about what's with Celia’s new personality, while Rachel squinted her eyes.

Rachel’s gaze met Celias and Celia grinned at Rachel.

Rachel snorted and flipped her hair.

‘So, she did return.’

Rachel thought to herself as she gripped her lance.

It was a long time since she’s last seen her, but the words she said then now came to light. She still couldn’t understand why she was forced to do that, but at least the blood of the innocent was not on her hand.

“Rachel, i’m sure you’re saving your strength but how about you use the rest of your essence and transform.”

“That’s the first thing you say now that you’ve returned?”

Celia laughed a little as she covered her small mouth with her hand.

“I know you’ve been expecting my return, but thats a matter for another time. So will you transform or not?”

Rachel rolled her eyes.

“Alright!”

Celia clapped her hands together.

“Charles, you can handle that male and the rest of us will take care of these females.”

Vance saw all the destruction around him, this place was basically done for. Buildings were constantly falling apart, and bodies continued to pile up all over.

From the aura’s being released all over this region, he could tell there were a few that were fighting back. Yet, it wasn’t enough.

There was an even bigger danger here, he felt it. There was no way he was going to lose his life here just to try and fight these demonic beings. If there were some competent people in charge, then maybe he’d join in.

Vance pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent Nick a quick message.

If things went well, they should meet up in a few days.

While he wished he was there with Victoria, he knew she was in safer hands with her father. He was smart and would flee New York. If he didn’t and something happened to Victoria, Vance would crush him.

Just thinking about harm coming her way caused Vance to crush his phone by accident.

He slowly made his way towards Nick’s house, just like the other streets houses were destroyed and blood filled the streets.

‘Hopefully it’s still here.’

Vance said to himself as he went to Nick’s garage.

Inside the garage, Vance spotted a tan sheet covering up a vehicle. He removed the sheet as it revealed a black motorcycle.

“Ha, I knew you’d keep this here. Told me I couldn’t drive it before, but now it’s all mine!”

Vance said as he licked his lips.

Nick’s Archwing, a custom made vehicle that was superior to a large majority of modern cars and bikes.

Vance hopped on it and was about to pull off when he forgot, he did not have the key.

Vance sighed in disappointment.

He knew Nick would not have the key on him, but Vance really did not want to look around for it. Afterall, Nick’s house was destroyed. There was nothing left but rubble.
