BlackCrown: The First Year (III) Pt. 4

??????????

Part Four

Early the next day, Nick woke up and took a shower.

He walked out of the bathroom with a blue towel around his neck, wearing some shorts.

Nick smelt something in the air, he knew his mom was cooking breakfast.

Everything in the house was made so his mother could reach it, so cooking was not really a problem for her. Nick was about to go help with the food when he heard the doorbell ring.

Walking over to the door, he opened it.

There was an older man that seemed to be in his mid-sixties standing there. His head was full of white hair, but it was nicely cut. His black eyes seemed full of life despite his old age, and he had a trimmed white beard.

The old man was wearing a black suit with white gloves covering his hands. He gave a slight bow to Nick who opened the door.

Nick did not know who this old man was nor did he know why he was here.

“Who are you?”

Nick asked the old man.

“Charles Butler.”

Charles said in a calm voice as he stared into Nick’s hazel eyes.

“You must be Nick?”

Charles asked Nick.

“I am and what do you want?”

Charles reached into his inner jacket pocket and pulled out a note. He passed it to Nick who read over it.

Nick squinted his eyes.

“Nick who is at the door?”

His mother questioned him as she appeared behind him.

Olivia gave him a curious gaze as to who the mysterious man was.

“Hello madam, you may address me as Charles.”

Charles greeted Olivia.

When he saw that she was in a wheelchair he did not look at her any differently than he looked at Nick. Charles could care less about how people appeared.

“Nice to meet you, Charles, I am Olivia. May I ask what brings you to our home?”

Olivia asked him in a kind voice.

She gestured for him to step into their home since he was still outside.

Stolen novel; please report.

Charles was a hard person to read, he did not smile or show any emotion on his face. When Olivia gestured for him to enter he shook his head.

“It would be wrong of me to enter before milady enters.”

Charles moved to the side, revealing a young woman with long blond hair. She was wearing a long skirt that hid her legs, and long white gloves hiding her bare hands. The jewelry she was wearing gave her an elegant feel.

Nick glanced her over and he was bewitched by her charm. She did not give him a feeling of wanting to throw her on the bed and take her, it was more like he wanted to hold her close.

The feeling only lasted for a second.

Nick’s mother squinted her eyes, barely enough for anyone to notice but Nick caught it.

“Hello.”

The young lady spoke. Her voice could make anyone listen to her for days without getting tired.

She turned to look at Nick and gave him a slight smile. Her eyes were closed and Nick did not know why. He did not think she could see him, but he gave her a smile back.

“I hope you take care of me now and in the future.”

She said to Nick.

Olivia glanced up and Nick before she turned back to the young lady.

“Don’t just stand there, come in. Let’s go to the living room.”

Olivia urged them both to enter her home.

A pretty young woman entered her home and had a connection to Nick. As a mother she was happy.

The young woman nodded her head and entered into their home followed by Charles. The four of them entered the living room and sat down.

“Milady I shall grab your belongings.”

Charles told the young woman before exiting the living room.

It seemed that she wanted to say something to Charles before he left, but she didn’t.

The young lady in front of him looked like the girl in the picture he received only a few years older.

“I did not expect to meet you so soon.”

Nick told her.

He just received the notice he was engaged yesterday, and today she showed up. Things were moving too fast, he expected to meet her sometime next year.

“Hmm? I was informed months ago I assumed you were too. Seems like it was my mistake…”

She said.

“No it’s fine, how about you tell us about yourself?”

Olivia gave Nick a look. It was like she was asking him what he was doing, but Nick pretended like he did not see it.

“I’m Celia J. Harper, part of the Harper household in Britain. I’m twenty this year and as you can see I am blind.”

She started telling Nick and Olivia a bit about herself. When Nick heard he was blind he got really interested. The picture he was shown before showed her with azure blue eyes and it could not have been taken that long ago.

Nick’s phone vibrated and he quickly checked it. It was a message from Dir. Campbell.

He read it over and looked up and Celia.

There were a few parts that Nick was curious about that he had to check out for himself. He did not know how his sensei found this young lady, nor how her family agreed to a marriage. He felt something was off, especially with the way his mother was acting.

She spoke as if she had something to do with the marriage arrangement, but today facing Celia it was as if she was meeting her for the first time.

Olivia seemed to really like Celia, she was engaged in conversation that seemed like it would carry on for a few hours.

“Celia, you would not happen to be royalty would you?”

Nick questioned her.

Celia’s facial expression did not change when she heard him ask her that question.

“Yes, I do not mention it when meeting new people. How did you know?”

She asked.

“Milady, i’ve brought everything inside. How about a short break from all the traveling?”

Charles appeared and asked Celia.

“Good idea, you go rest up honey. We can talk more once you are settled in.”

Olivia said.

She rolled over and showed Charles to a spare room.
