Part Twenty-Seven
Cornelius introduced himself to Nick and Matthew causing them to figure out why they felt he was so familiar. He was Arthur's father, and they looked almost alike.
Once things introductions were done, Cornelius asked the two of them questions. Standard police questions that he had to ask.
He was thankful that Nick and Matthew caught the two perpetrators but he also reminded them how dangerous the situation was. They could have died if Z and R were a bit stronger.
Naturally he didn’t miss a beat and told them to get along with his son as Arthur had a hard time making friends. He had trust issues but mostly towards females which impacted his life.
Cornelius dragged R and Z away while Nick and Matthew were both told to go back to the academy before people worried about them.

The next day started out with a minor headache as usual. His carmel toned hands rubbed his eyes slowly as he started to wake up. Leaning up in the king sized bed his hazel eyes locked onto the young woman next to him. Cream colored skin with short black hair. She was facing down so her facial features were hidden. He slowly rubbed her head being gentle as he looked at her with a loving smile.
She started to murmur words which he found cute. Her body started twisting and turning as she clutched the blue cover even tighter.
He tossed the cover off of him as he edged off the bed trying not to wake her up. He almost did too, as she spoke softly in her sleep.
“Vance...” She said in the softest voice causing his heart to stir.
Vance glanced over his silver watch and saw the time. It was nine in the morning, too early for his blood. Normally he would not even open his eyes until noon, but today was special.
He left her to sleep in as he left to take a shower.
When he got out with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist she was up and staring at him. Her amber colored eyes had a seductive look in them as she grinned and crawled on the bed over to his side slowly. With each motion she took the cover on her body slid down.
Vance approached her, his upper body bare as it revealed his well toned body. A green tattoo of a demon was drawn on his chest.
He leaned down and kissed her on the lips and she willingly accepted him.
“How about another round?”
She asked him as her fingers were on the towel wrapped around his waist ready to pull it off as soon as he said yes. He had the energy to go at it again and she did as well.
She enjoyed him for his seemingly endless stamina but she also liked his other points.
Vance laughed lightly as he kissed her forehead. He really wanted to toss this towel away and indulge himself in endless pleasure. However, there was a time and place for everything. Now was not the time.
“Sorry Ash, I really have to go.”
Vance told her almost regretting what he said.
Ash as he called her or Ashley, had all the right curves in all the right places. With her outgoing personality and skilled craft in bed Vance was falling in love with her. Granted at times he wished for a bit more, but he knew one person couldn’t have it all.
Ashley pouted her lips and crossed her arms.
Seeing her like this really caused his emotions to stir, she was proudly showing off her naked body to him. He knew she was only putting on a show with her pouting. With her haughty attitude and status not many people would dare to reject her. Yet he did it.
As much as she was used to having her way, it always turned her on when Vance rejected her. It made her want him even more.
“Just fiv… no ten minutes…”

She said as she looked into his hazel eyes.
“I can’t, i’ll make it up to you tonight. I promise.”
Vance told her as he kissed her once more before he moved around to room grabbing his clothes.
“You better!”
Ashley told him as she hopped down from the bed and walked into the bathroom.
Vance took a glance at her body from behind but resisted his urge.
“Hey babe, my dad is hosting a dinner friday night…”
Ashley started talking but paused to test the waters a bit. Since her and Vance began dating he barely met her parents. Her father did not approve of their relationship because of Vance not coming to events he hosted.
“Friday? Alright i’ll be there.”
Vance did not even let her finish as he agreed to join her.
Ashley thought she was hallucinating when she heard him, maybe he did not hear what she said. Yet she did not ask him again fearing he may change his mind. Better to let things be as they already are.
Vance approached the bathroom door and watched her do her hair while looking in the mirror. She turned her head lightly and looked at him as if asking what did he want.
“You going to the company right?”
Vance asked her casually.
Ashley nodded.
“Yeah, as the next leader I have to show my face every now and again. You’re just lucky dad isn’t making me attend daily.”
Vance laughed. If she really did have to attend the company and its meetings daily their sessions would have to take place elsewhere or not at all.
“Why, did you need me for something?”
Vance shook his head in reply.
“No, just asking. I’ll pick you up at seven.”
“Eight, and don’t be a second late.”
Ashley quickly responded to him.
“Love you.”
He told her as he left to house.
Ashley made a cute noise before saying she loved him too.
Outside the house Vance looked at the guard who was by the front door. The guard gave him a menacing look but said nothing. Vance found it strange that the guards all acted this way towards him. They don’t have to like him but they did not have to show it.
Vance rushed out from Ashley’s three-story house and went back to his own house.
He checked the mailbox and grabbed the pile of mail that's been sitting for a few days. As he walked towards the house he checked it to see if there was anything to note, but there wasn’t. Most of it was addressed to his mother and Vance couldn’t be bothered to read it.
Once Vance entered the house he dropped the mail on the counter by the door and went over to the couch to sit down. Noticing the time he saw how close it was to nine.
He sat on the couch and waited. Then waited. Seconds went by, then minutes and before he knew it a whole hour passed. He started to get impatient as he continued to sit down.
There was nothing he could do but wait until he was contacted.
“What are you doing?”
Vance asked out loud hoping for an answer but it never came.
Grunting and scratching his head he wished she hurried up and said something to him.
Everyone month his mother would contact him in some way to let her know how things were and asked about him and Nick. The messages always came at the same time, always on the same day. Today was that day and the time for her message to come already passed.
Just as Vance was about to leave and go around the city, a light red bird landed on the open window. It was a beautiful bird whose tail was long and feathers had a pattern like a flame. It’s golden eyes were beautiful as it cocked its head to the side and made a small noise.
Vance squinted his eyes when he saw the bird. This was his mother's companion, she never called it a pet and they seemed to understand each other. Her and this bird was inseparable, so why was it here?
The little bird flew over to Vance and saw on his shoulders. A letter was attached to its foot.
Vance wasted no time as he grabbed the letter and untied to small rope.
‘Vance,
Normally I would contact you in another way and not send Marie to you but under these circumstances it was the fastest and most secure way to get in touch. How have you been so far? If you aren’t taking care of my house properly expected to be skinned alive once I return. How is your relationship with Ashley going?’
Vance skipped the rest and went straight to the bottom of the letter. Everytime she asked him something she also threatened him. It gave him chills. His mother was caring but she was also scary.
‘The japanese government has contacted me to look into a disappearance regardinging one of their generals. I wanted to turn it down and return home but when they told me that Frost was somehow involved I couldn’t turn away. For the hardship they’ve caused you and the death of your parents I could not let them go. Ever since i’ve accept their request I felt someone has been monitoring my every move which is why I sent Marie to you. If things get out of control remember what I taught you, self control is the key to everything.’
Vance let out a deep breath after he finished reading the letter. There was a time stamp at the bottom telling him when the next letter would arrive. May sixth was the next day he would receive the next letter.
Vance was going to write his own letter back to her, but Marie flew away leaving him helpless. She wouldn’t let him attach a letter to her foot, nor did she even leave the house. She just stayed on the windowsill and gazed off into the distance.
His stomach turned slightly making him feel sick, but he knew that he wasn’t. He just hoped his stomach reacting this way wasn’t due to the letter but something else instead.
