Chapter 14 - New path

Chapter 14 - New path

A few days went by and Nick could finally move his body, granted he couldn’t do any activities that put too much of a strain on his body, but he could move nonetheless.

His arm was still broken, but the doctor told him it should be healed within two months. Considering the damage he took, he was surprised but thankful he could still use his arm in the future.

With the passing days, Nick continued to hang out with his friends. He knew he wasn’t strong, but this incident, no, this whole trip made him realize he was still lacking in a few areas. He needed more training, he needed to know more about his equipment. He was willing to do whatever he needed to gain these things.

Without these things he could never become the person he wanted to be.

Nick came to a realization after seeing his mother’s condition not improving, and after having a conversation with his aunt. While his mother could teach him about his ability, there had to be things even she did not know. That being the case, only her family could help him improve now.

The United States was in a war with the demonic beast as their territory was ever so growing. With a large majority of the armed forces battling in another country, the public was growing weary.

However, a day after Nick woke up Klyde made a huge announcement. One that would change the world.

The Association was opening its doors for the first time ever in the United States. While Victor told them beforehand about it, Klyde was the face of this entire project so he told the people about it. He talked about the key points of why the Association was a good thing, but the announcement was relatively short.

Instead of a long drawn out speech, Klyde spoke for around five minutes before saying that more information could be found at their website.

Freya, being who she was searched the website and talked about it with Nick and the others. The website had vast amount of information, showing various locations the Association was located at, as well as some of the highest ranking members.

First day of opening, but there were already hundreds of people who joined, granted, those that did join were all in the ten families and guardian family. However, it showed that the people behind the Association was dedicated to see the project succeed.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

With his condition getting better and better each day, a week went by since he woke up.

Wearing black shades, some shorts and a short sleeved shirt, Nick was looking out the window with a smile on his face.

“You know, there is no turning back now.”

Lauren who was seated across the aisle from Nick said in a calm voice as she held a magazine in her hands.

Nick turned his head as he gazed towards Lauren. He shook his head slightly.

“No. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to save her. She’s always been there for me, it’s only natural I be there for her.”

“Turns out she raised you well. That’s something she’s done correctly. However, when you get there, just know that you’ll be looked down upon. Not because you’re weak, or anything, it’s because of what you’re mother has done in the past. Shrug it off and keep to yourself, while they are family, they may not treat you like it.”

Nick shrugged his shoulders.

“Whatever. I’ll settle things my own way.”

Hearing those words caused Laurens mouth to curve upward a little, she was happy to hear him say that.

“Don’t get too arrogant, you still have a long way to go. Just remember, power and influence are everything. You can’t have one without the other.”

With those words spoken, Lauren turned her attention to the other passenger onboard the plane.

She was pretty, but said very little. Lauren could tell she was unique but wondered what made her so.

Katherine who was quietly reading her book gazed up as her eyes met Laurens. They stared at each other for a brief moment before they both went back into their books.

There were a few things Katherine wanted to ask, but kept to herself.

‘I wonder if we were fated to meet again.’

Katherine had this image in her head of someone she has not seen in a long time. Maybe all the events that have happened so far was only the beginning.

Whichever the case may be, if she was fated to meet that person again she would be both happy and sad.

Nick sat with his eyes closed while he pictured the images of his friends who he left behind. When would he see them again, he did not know but he hoped it would be sometime in the near future.

For now, he needed to concentrate on the path that was laid out in front of him.

This year has been something else, from arriving at school, to almost having Katherine kidnapped, meeting Celia, dealing with those two strange people, eventually having seen someone overflow, until he ended up at the Twelve God competition. Even then, that wasn’t the end.

Everything he’s seen, and experienced he would put to use going forward.
