Chapter 29 Three theories
Erudition? Kreed asked.
Yes it's a rather rare lane, but those that excell in it are all generational geniuses. The great prophet Caelan is one such genius. Although he didn't take the erudition lane which pertains to knowledge and wisdom, he chose walk on one rather similar. The lane of sagacity, a much rarer lane, and one that shook the world with it's might. Although The great prophet Caelan is the most notable member of this lane, there are a few underated individuals as well. For example
Savle Pneumo, one of the 13 heros from the great era. He had the highest rank of anyone to walk the lane of sagacity. Being a conquered awakened. And one of the only ever conquered to exists. Because of his tactics and wisdom the 13 heros were able to defeat the great Abyssal Jailer. The strongest existence our planet has seen so far.
So I commend you on your ability to figure out my little scheme.
Saying so Alden applauded. Before continuing.
So tell me k do you possess a power pertaining to the lane of erudition or are you innately this perceptive.
Hearing this Kreed bellowed. Haha, i see what your playing at. So how about I enlighten you a bit. The truth is now that I've seen your true colors I can rest assured that with out me you would be missing something crucial, so I think it's about time I increase my value a bit more. I would hope that you'd keep this information to yourself.
Saying so Kreed summoned a relic once again. And soon a simple incandescent fruit materialized In his palm, it was almost translucent and the flesh beneath it's skin continuously shifted from a white pure radiance to that of an prudent ebony colour.
Seeing the fruit up close Alden shuddered.
I wasn't wrong, this aura it's something unlike anything I've ever seen. It's almost like if I can't grasp it presence with my cognitive senses, I feel it more within my soul. Tell me k, what rank is this relic? As Alden's excitement grew so did his smile. At this point Kreed couldn't tell if he was human or not. For a smile that wide was simply impossible for anything with intact muscles to pull of.
After suppressing the disturbing chill of Alden's smile. Kreed spoke. How about I show you directly? Saying so Kreed handed Alden back the Francis note that he had given him.
A peculiar change in his smile could be seen, and after a while of him hesitating he grasped onto the note.
After a minute or so of silence Alden chuckled. Great k, this is great. Such a profound relic. I am truly in aw. This is marvelous the very first divine ranked relic, it's abilities are profound beyond belief. Tell me now that you've revealed this relics abilities to me are you prepared for what's to come?
Hearing this Kreed questioned. What's to come? Do you plan on forcefully taking it from me? I won't lie, I may have been secluded for ten long years and methods of stealing relics may have been developed however, I am certain that I won't be afflicted by you because of two simple reasons.
One I can destroy this relic with a simple thought, and secondly I believe my friendship is worth way more to you than a divine rank relic.
And why would you say that? Questioned Alden.
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Finally a slight smirk found its way to Kreed's lips.
Simply because if you wanted to steal the relic you would have acted already.
After speaking Alden couldn't help but nod. That's correct k, I made a promise to reward you amply if you revealed the contents of the relic to me, and since you've done just that. I believe I should return the favor.
Saying so Alden suddenly jumped to his feet, and moved to the side of the grape. Within a few seconds a stone platter was conjured, the platter was round and smooth, it's edges a light green color. The platter didn't look like Alden's previous creations. Instead the stone making up this one looked more compacted and steady. As Kreed looked on in anticipation, he saw a small wisp of light exit Alden's body finding it's way to the center of the stone platter which was floating.
In an instant the stone platter jolted a strong invisible pressure enveloping the small wisp of light. And in a few minutes the light beam manifested, becoming a relic.
To Kreeds surprise, the aura emanating form the relic was somehow similar to the other two relics he had received on apostle island. There was no doubt, the relic before him was definitely of the divine rank. And from what Kreed felt the intense pressure it exerted would definitely be enough to kill him, if it wasn't being suppressed by Alden.
The relic before him, resembled a quartz piller, it wasn't the size of one but the intricate carvings and patterns on it, could be seen clearly.
As he looked at it intently, his vision suddenly became hazy.
An invisible force assaulted his mind, making his thoughts become disoriented. There wasn't any pain, but instead it came as a depressant, making any thoughts in his mind become discontent and illusive.
Had it been that Kreed didn't experienced something similar in the past he might have completely lost himself. Lucky he had spent an entire year trying to unveil the secrets hidden in the ruins of Caelan.
Losing his memory of the symbols scribed on them, over and over, And being completely suppressed through out the process, Kreed had learned how to endure the uncomfortable pressure.
Now that he was being subjected to a similar experience, he strained himself to adapt and recover himself as fast as he could.
However the more he thought, the more his mind grew blury and unclear. Kreed had never been drunk, but being in this state he couldn't help but imagine what it would feel like.
Would he be just as helpless as he was now? Ofc he wasn't truly helpless, all he needed to do was summon the peach of existence and his mind would be cleared.
After a while had passed Kreed suddenly heard Aldens voice, ring out in his ear, it sounded a little husky and there was a hint of a chuckle in it.
"Sorry about that. I forgot to warn you."
With that Kreed gradually felt the pressure on his mind diminish, and in a few breathes of time his vision completely returned.
To his surprise Alden had dismissed the relic.
Looking at him he saw that the two golden lense of his glasses had lost its luster, and resembled more of a dull brown rusty look, but gradually a little sheen was returning to them.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Kreed asked directly. Is that also a divine rank relic?
Alden scoffed, I wish. It may seem like one, but the truth is it's only of the profound rank, of course the relic you just reveal to me was the very first divine ranked relic I've ever seen. But from the aura it gave of I'd say it's even weaker than the one I just showed you. Well in aura at least.
The thing is, I don't really understand why looking at it brings a fog to the eyes, or why the mind gets unfocused. But from what I know the abilities that come with it far exceed the limitations.
Hearing this Kreed asked. So your also subjected to the effects of it?
Yes unfortunately, however with the help of these glasses I can lessen the burden on my mind to a great extent. Not to mention that the stone platter I had conjured before had essentially negated an enormous amount of it's effect. At least 75 percent. So u can just imagine what it can do at full power.
Kreed suddenly scowled, that wasn't all its power? Just what kind of relic was that. For a profound rank to be so strong felt strange to Kreed. It also emanated an aura belonging to that of a divine rank relic. No suddenly his mind made a simple conjecture, he also had a profound rank relic, and the abilitys that it entailed was definitely on the level of the two divine ranked relics he had received.
Three theories were then formulated within his mind.
Each harbouring a complex meaning.
The first was that profound ranked relics were somehow capable of matching divine ranked relics in some way or another. Or maybe the two profound ranked relics he had seen so far were strange exceptions being far more powerful than the usual.
The second theory was that the divine ranked relics he had were simply just knockoffs, being of the lowest grade among divine ranked, and so profound ranked relics could essentially match them in aura. If this theory was true then Kreed felt he had been scammed bu the father of all. Well then again had it not been for that same relic he would have died just a few hours ago.
The third and final theory was something more strange and uncertain, what if the profound and divine ranked relics were at the same level off power because they had all reached a threshold,
A certain limit in the workings of the universe that prevented them from becoming any stronger and so a divine rank although it was higher in rank was ultimately just as powerful as a profound ranked relic. Kreed didn't know why but he was inclined to believe his last theory most. Whether that threshold be one of advancing to godhood or something else, he felt like he had unlocked a key secret. Or maybe
he just couldn't accept the idea of the father of all being a big scammer.
