I took a deep breath.
“ First of all, what would we even use to make a spike fall trap? “
He thought for a second.
“ Well, we can plant some knives and other things in the ground. I have some metal poles in the basement as well. If we look around we can find more things as well. “
“ Ok then what would we use to dig a pit fall? “
“ There are some shovels but it would be hard to dig a pit deep enough to do much of anything. They could probably jump over it anyway. “
Jake scoffed.
“ They could do the same with your stupid knives. “
Terkel seemed a bit frustrated as he started arguing with Jake again.
‘ I’m not even sure how much time we have to prepare. I also don’t know what we have to work with. Either way I highly doubt we have the time to make a pitfall so it’s completely out of the equation leaving only one solution. ‘
“ Terkel. Jake. “
They looked at me.
“ I don’t know how much time we have but making a pitfall would take way too much time even with this many of us. Besides that it would leave us sore and exhausted. So let’s go with the spike fall or something else. “
Jake was silent but it was obvious he wasn’t happy. Terkel let out a sigh of relief seeing Jake be silent.
“ Ok then, let’s go get some things we can use then. You can ask Freya where you can find some things. “
He walked out of the room and I followed. We didn’t head to the stairs but further down the hall.
“ Hey Terkel, how do you check on the progress of the goblins? “
“ Well You can see over the wall a bit when you go to the highest point of this place. “
He stopped and put his hand on the doorknob.
“ This is Flash’s room. He won’t attack you if you're next to me. It’ll take him a couple days to get completely comfortable around you, just let him get used to your scent presence. If you don’t do anything to trigger him you’ll be fine. “
He opened the door and a big dog was already at the door. It was standing and it was looking directly at me with it’s tail being rather stiff. It or rather he wasn’t growling nor were his ears flattened.

‘ Not the biggest fan of meeting new dogs. Never really been attacked by one but doesn’t mean I won’t be on guard. ‘
Terkel grabbed his collar.
“ I’ll guide him to you. He won’t attack but let him sniff you and whatnot. And do not touch his ears or him in general. The last person who did that nearly lost their hand because he didn’t know her or trust her. “
I took his words to heart. My attention was entirely on the dog although I was avoiding eye contact since that was a given. I stood as still as a statue as Flash started sniffing me. I slowly moved my hand over my privates since he was getting a little too close for comfort. It wasn’t long before he simply stopped sniffing me and just stood by Terkel who started petting him.
“ Seems like I didn’t need to remind you not to stare him in the eyes. He’s rather gentle and lenient with children but he’s trained well so he’s not much of a threat unless he sees you as a threat. “
“ Good to know. “
I moved a bit and Flash didn’t react much but he was certainly keeping his eyes on me.
“ Will he help against the goblins? “
“ I don’t think I will let him. High chance he will die or be severely injured.”
He paused.
“ Do you think he has a system too? “
“ Probably but it’s probably a bit different since he has limited intelligence. We should probably try to get him some levels. How many goblins are there? “
“ A couple hundred. Other than variants we now call hobgoblins, all the others seem like regular goblins. Only problem is the fact that they have some modern weapons. “
“ Guns? Or do you mean knives and swords? “
“ Knives. And some have makeshift armor. Honestly I think whatever is leading them is somewhere nearby. “
“ We probably don’t need to worry too much about it. I doubt it’ll attack without gauging our strength. If it does then we will need to be prepared for it. How much time do we have left? “
“ We can go check. I’m a little tired but as a doctor it’s nothing I'm not used to. “
I ignored his little statement and followed him to the stairs. There was another staircase next to the one I used to get to the second floor. This one curved, not allowing me to see the floor above. I tried to ignore Flash as I followed behind them. It didn’t take long to reach the third floor. Which was very different from the previous two floors.
“ This is more of a training room than anything. Some of my co-workers came over from time to time to have some fun. We really had some good times here. “
His voice got a bit lower towards the end of his sentence.
‘ His co-workers are most likely dead and I doubt he would be seeing most of them again. ‘
I put my hand on his shoulder.
“ Perhaps everyone can come up here and have some fun later. For now let’s focus on surviving. “
He didn’t say anything as he led me to the giant glass windows which were also sliding doors. He opened one and led me out onto the balcony. After walking a bit to the right we went up a flight of stairs arriving at a pool. I looked around and I could see a bit over the wall.
“ You can get a better view if you go up the lifeguard tower. “
I looked around a bit and saw the tower. I went up it and looked over the wall. Small green things could be seen moving various things. Hammering could be heard as what seemed like a small tower was being built.
“ How did they even figure out how to make something like that? “
“ I’m not sure but maybe they found a book? “
“ Even if they did I doubt they would be able to read the wo-”
I didn’t finish my sentence as my pupils dilated and I quickly moved my head to the side. The sound of something cutting through the air was hard followed by a burst of pain on the side of my face.
