Live

As I ran up the stairs I never looked back. As I reached the top I saw the other two standing in the entrance. Bruce looked at me questioningly.

" What happened? "

" He died, we need to go. "

I hadn't stopped moving and I moved past them and exited the house. There were no signs of goblins or people. I heard the goblin go through the door leading to the basement.

" LET'S GO. "

I yelled at them within really meaning to. They soon followed me as I went right.

" How fast can you guys run? "

" I haven't ran in a while. My daughter's on a volleyball team. "

" I work out occasionally. "

I didn't respond and started jogging. Dr. Terkel and the others didn't really have a problem keeping up with me. The problem was I didn't know where to go.

" Where do we go? "

No one responded.

" Let's go to a store. We can get some more supplies. "

" What if there's more goblins? " Dr.Terkel said

" We have to find weapons then. There should be knives and other things in the houses. "

Not long after I had stopped talking Sarah spoke with a quivering voice.

" G-Guys it's coming. "

I quickly looked back and the saw the Built goblin running after us. At the pace as were going it wouldn't take long for it to reach us

" Run as fast as you can. "

I tried my best to keep my voice down. As I started to increase my pace. While I was in highschool I was in track for two years. Even before that I liked to run. I was faster than most. This made me hesitant to go as fast as I could. I didn't want to leave them behind.

Dozens of seconds passed and the goblin was still gaining on us. Everyone was already starting to tire and slow. The continuous fighting from before and the wounds didn't make things easier. It would only be a dozen more seconds before it reached us. I had to make a decision.

I didn't think to hard about it and picked up my pace. I controlled my breathing and started sprinting. I ran as fast as I could. Letting the joy of running overtake the slight guilt I felt leaving them behind. The pain of the stitches reveal themselves. The wounds were starting to open again as the moving I had done before made them loose and unable to keep the wound closed.

Fortunately the doctor wasn't far behind me. He had long legs and he had went to the gym not only lifting weights. He had trained his cardio and running speed.

The screams of Bruce and Sarah soon reached my ears. I did my best to ignore it. Occupying my thoughts with where I was going. I took multiple twist and turns so it would be harder for the goblin to chase us. I started to slow before coming to a slow walk. The doctor and beside be. We were both breathing heavily and sweating profusely.

We walked in silence for a bit before I started talking.

" Do you think - we should find a house - or a store? "

He didn't respond for a while. I understood as my head was pounding slightly.

" My house. I need to go back. My dog, Flash, is there. I have food, medical supplies, and a good house. I have a lot of - food in my basement. I had it renovated. It's like a bunker. "

As much as I was happy to hear that I wondered how old he was. What kind of doctor was he? How much money did he make before this happened?

" Where is it? "

" Follow me. "

As we walked down the silent street. I looked at the scenery. Dead bodies of both human and goblin. Mostly human. Blood and the occasional weapon. I was hesitant to take them though. After a while I saw a knife on the ground and decided to pick it up. The blood on it made me slightly disgusted but I ignored it.

We walked down the street slightly picking up the pace as time went on. The sun was hotter than usual and we didn't want to be in this heat longer than needed. Eventually the building started to change. They grew bigger and more eye catching. Besides that, I was curious.

" Where has everyone gone? Track said he saw some people in a grocery store but that's about it. "

" They probably died. Perhaps hiding in the houses like we did. Back in the hospital I saw people hiding in the rooms. Dozens of goblins broke into the hospital. I only got out due to luck. Track and some others were helping people get out. We left them behind after we got out of the worst of it. "

Not everyone were bad people. However most people prioritized their lives over others. Some were simply to scared to do much of anything. Most people haven't experienced violence to such a degree. Not to mention stabbing and killing things. Besides that there were a lot of overweight and unhealthy people. Most didn't exercise or run. The chances people surviving was low with how things are.
