I slowly opened my eyes and everything was blurry. I felt sick but I sat up and saw Terkel sitting where he was before. He seemed to realize something and looked up at me. Relief seemed to flood through him as his body relaxed.
‘ Was he stressed or something? We don’t even know each other that well. ‘
He slowly got up.
“ You ok? “
I scratched the back of my head.
“ I’m fine. I think I may have overloaded my brain or something by assigning too many stat points at once. “
He seemed confused at first but soon came to a realization.
“ So that’s what happened. “
He sighed.
“ I was worried. One moment you seemed completely fine and the next you passed out. Your muscles were convulsing, your body temperature was unnaturally high, your breathing was irregular, and you even started throwing up. For a second I was worried you might… “
‘ I think I should probably avoid doing something like that again. I shouldn’t be thinking about myself only. As much as I hate it, I'm not someone who can simply ignore how others feel. ‘
“ I’m sorry. You were already in a bad state but I made it worse. “
I looked at him.
“ Without you I wouldn’t even be alive. I might’ve even choked on my own vomit and died. You’ve saved my life not once but twice. “
I chuckled a bit and he let out a soft smile.
“ Thank you, for caring. “
“ No problem. “
I felt my emotions rising but I resisted them not letting them surface. I hated how much they influenced me.
“ Do you think I’ll be able to get out of here now? My endurance is 12 so that should count for something. “
“ I noticed you were healing faster than normal an hour ago. You should be fine as long as you don’t tear the stitches. Besides, I don't think this place is gonna be very safe for much longer. “
My heart dropped.
“ The goblins? “
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
He nodded.
“ They started making things similar to ladders in an attempt to climb the walls. They stopped using ladders after realizing the barbed wire is a problem. Now. “
He sighed and ran his hand through his hair. He was stressed.
“ They began making things similar to medieval siege towers. Not as complicated or strong but enough to get the job done. “
The news made me feel awfully bad. I looked at him.
“ Do you have a plan? “
“ A plan? A PLAN!? Those things are just as smart or smarter than us and there's a lot more of them than us. Not only that but there are some more of those tanks and some even seem to be more oriented to speed. They are growing stronger. Stronger way too quickly for us to handle. “
‘ He’s losing it. Although what he’s saying is true to an extent. They are growing stronger fast and we aren’t getting any stronger. They are fighters and we are mostly ordinary people with little to no prior fighting experience. ‘
I put a hand on his shoulder. He looked at me with a glare.
“ Traps. We may be ordinary people however if you have more books like the one you gave me then perhaps something has knowledge about traps we can make. Besides, I'm sure even ordinary people can make a barricade of pointy sticks so they can’t just jump over the wall.
We have to think about their perspective as well. Until they get over that wall they don’t know what we’re doing. They’re going in blind basically. Calm down and think. You're not alone. “
He calmed down a bit.
“ Ya, we’re wasting time doing nothing. Let’s go. “
He walked over to the door and out of it not closing it behind him. I carefully got out of the bed which is when I realized I was still naked. I looked around and saw a pair of clothes so I quickly changed into them after closing the door. They fit me rather well but I didn’t question it as I walked out of the room.
After exiting the room I looked around in amazement. I was in what seemed like a living room. There were black couches that looked expensive and rugs with intricate designs using a variety of different colors. There was a giant flatscreen t.v above some cases with different medieval weapons which was also above a fireplace. The walls were white however they were covered by various paintings and cases with different things.
“ A rich person’s house indeed. How successful was his father anyway? If his son lives in such a place one has to wonder what his house looks like. “
I heard some voices coming from upstairs so I made my way up the spiral staircase. Despite what one may think there was a floor above the entire first floor not offering much of a view. After reaching the second floor I saw a hallway extending in both directions and a bunch of doors. One of the doors was opened so I walked over to it. I looked inside and saw everyone sitting or standing talking to one another.
‘ Are Jake and Terkel arguing? ‘
“ You don’t seem to understand the fact that digging a pit big enough would take too much time and effort. Making spikes on the ground so they die when they fall would be much better. “
“ Listen, we can put that at the bottom of the pit. You said they were making some immobile siege towers so we don’t need to put the pits everywhere. Besides with our inflated strength and endurance it won’t be that difficult. “
‘ Are they arguing over a pit fall or spike trap? Honestly with the goblins falling from that high up there’s no doubt they would get some injuries. Beside that there should be a limit to how fast they can come to avoid injuring one another. ‘
I cleared my throat and they glanced at me. Terkel seemed to get an idea.
“ How about we do another vote? Last time it was even but not that Argus is here there can’t be a tie since there are seven of us. Argus do you want a hole in the groin or spikes that can effectively kill the goblins as they fall? “
“ Hey, it's more than a hole in the ground! It has a ton of potential. “
‘ I really don’t wanna deal with this right now. ‘
