Chapter 9: Crashing Objection

Chapter 9: Crashing Objection

In the dead of night, Zalroth sat atop the highest point on the roof of Chronia's family mansion as he stared up at a full moon. Zalroth lowered his shoulders as if he sighed before he looked down and glared at the mansion on the opposite side of the city. Zalroth forced his vision away from the far-off mansion and allowed his vision to wander down to his open palm.

"Is she serious about that plan?" Zalroth uttered mentally.

"I thought I'd find you here, Master Zalroth," Marok said before he dropped down above and landed beside Zalroth. Zalroth quietly murmured as he continued to stare at his palm.

"The wedding thing... was it?" Zalroth said quietly as he continued staring at his palm.

"Yes, Master Zalroth?" Marok said as he placed his hands behind his back.

"Do you know where it's happening?" Zalroth asked.

"Naturally, it's being hosted at the Blight mansion tonight. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to prepare some of the ladies' possessions," Marok stated before he slid down the roof and onto the balcony below. Zalroth sighed and balled up his fist as his kitsune features disappeared. Zalroth tightened and increased the intensity of his clenched fist as a black magic crest began to coat his hand and slowly crawled up his arm.

"Let's hope I can maintain both of them long enough to pull this off," Zalroth uttered in his head before he sprung to his feet.

Meanwhile, Chronia groaned and rested her head on a white tarp-covered table. Chronia raised her head and glared through her veil around at the ballroom the wedding venue was taking place in. Chronia sighed and slumped back in her chair as a grass snake with googly eyes made of grass slithered across the table. The grassy snake golem made its way to the fair-skinned teenaged male wearing a groom suit on the other side of the table who bore a striking resemblance to Max and was covered in snakes made of various materials. (the tall older teen has super spikey pure white hair with Persian green underhair, reflective silver eyes with Persian green pupils, Persian green curved horns on his forehead, a thin Persian green tail with a large spade-shaped tail tip)

"So, Nai, has Zalroth figured out his Azure is supposed to work?" Onix asked, but Chronia simply gave him the cold shoulder.

"How about we talk about you instead then... how has your keither developed?" Onix asked, only to get more of the silent treatment from Chronia as she crossed her arms and looked away from Onix. Onix defeatedly sighed and picked up his grass golem snake

"If it makes you feel any better, Nai, I looked like this little guy when my parents dropped this arrangement on me the other day," Onix remarked as he held the grass snake golem on his finger. Chronia huffed and crossed her arms disapprovingly.

"At least you had more than a few hours of warning, Onix," Chronia uttered snarkily as she held her hands on the sides of her head and ruffled her hair. Onix snickered as he flicked the small steel snake golem in his right hand and made it take on the shape of a spoon before he used the snake to stir his milk coffee.

"That's fair... but I won't oppose you saying, no, you know.". Onix raised his teacup to his face and took a sip of his coffee.

"But your parents will though, and they even have the nerve to drag my father away for some dumb business talk!". Onix sighed and placed his teacup on its coaster before he rested his chin on his clasped hands.

"Tell me this, Nai; are you really going to allow my parents to get in the way of the otome route you wish to take?" Onix asked boldly as he gave Chronia a cold stare with his now glowing pupils. Chronia shivered as a chill slithered up her spine, but she quickly realised the chill was a more physical feeling as an ice golem snake poked its head out from over Chronia's shoulder.

"Well, let's hope your inamorato miss interrupted when you gave him that manga," Onix remarked before he picked up his teacup and continued to drink his tea while the ice snake golem slithered across the table to him.

"Inamowha- wait, how long has that snake golem been on me?!" Chronia blurted out, but her shouting was drowned out by the ear-piercing screech of glass shattering flooding the ballroom, causing a majority of the attendants to panic. Onix remained unperturbed by the sound given a wool snake golem had arranged itself on Onix's head like a pair of earmuffs.

"Speak of the kitsune," Onix remarked before he continued drinking his milk coffee.

A black sphere plummeted through the air before crashing into the centre of the ballroom. A platoon of rifle-wielding guards rushed to surround the black sphere before it began to unwind. The black sphere broke apart and reseeded into the black magic crests on Zalroth's forearm, hands, the lower half of his legs, feet, the six spine-like tails that merge into a single one which runs up his back to the tip of his actual spine, and the black featureless mask covering his face.

Zalroth cladded in a dark green chakra [chakra is an energy with a slightly viscous appearance] with his hair having a poofy/fluffy and dark green appearance rose to his feet. Zalroth tilted his head in a manner indicating he was glancing at the guards surrounding him.

"Cool...," Chronia uttered unintentionally as she stared at Zalroth. The guards aimed their rifles at Zalroth and ordered him to surrender. Zalroth scoffed and continued to survey his surroundings until he spotted Chronia in her wedding dress.

Zalroth nodded to psych himself up before his spine tails rattled, making the guards flinch. Zalroth took the guards' split second of hesitation to spin on the spot and sliced all the rifles in half with his spine tails. The guards jumped back and dropped their rifles as both halves decayed and crumbled away.

Zalroth pulled a leg back before he ran forwards and lept over some of the guards. Zalroth soared through the air before landing on the table Onix and Chronia were sitting at. Zalroth glanced at Onix and saw Onix had his eyes closed while seemingly not realising Zalroth was there, given the addition of Onix covering his ears with his wool snake golem.

Zalroth quickly spun around and picked Chronia by the wrist; he hoisted her upwards, caught her in his arms, and carried her like a princess. Chronia lightly blushed and quietly giggled at suddenly being carried in such a manner given the circumstances.

Zalroth heard the root steps of more guards rushing towards the duo, and he flexed his back before four massive dark green wings made of thousands of crow feathers sprouted forth from his back. Zalroth sprawled out his qi wings and slammed them downwards to launch him into the air while also launching a few of Onix's snake golems off his body.

Zalroth flapped his qi wings and made a beeline for the hole he made in the ceiling's glass dome while tightly clinging to Chronia to make sure he wouldn't drop her. Chronia glanced down to the ground and spotted her mother contently smirking at her, causing Chronia to awkwardly grin as Zalroth soared out through the hole in the glass dome ceiling.

After a few minutes, Chronia's father rushed into the ballroom and hurried over to his wife while Onix's parents calmly and somewhat coldly strolled in after Chronia's father. (The father looked like a more cynical adult and taller version of Max with silver hair and eyes. The mother looks like a snooty adult female version of Onix but with spikey whiteish hair and heterochromatic white and green eyes)

"What happened? Did Nai really get kidnapped," Chronia's father shouted in lowercase while trying not to cause anyone to stare. Chronia's mother couldn't help but quietly snicker, causing Chronia's father to make a huh noise at his wife's reaction to Chronia being kidnapped.

"I wouldn't count it as kidnapping, given the supposed kidnapper is a certain fluffball, if you catch my drift, hubby," Chronia's mother whispered. Chronia's father raised an eyebrow, causing his wife to frown at his lack of comprehension.

"I'm referring to Zalroth, you doof," Chronia's mother whispered.

"Oh...," Chronia's father uttered as he rubbed the back of his head whilst Onix's parents walked over to Chronia's parents.

"Now that you seem to have calmed down, Mr Sakamoto, what do you intend to do about relocating your daughter to resume the wedding?" Onix's mother asked callously.

"I'm sure Marok... will be able to figure that out once I call him," Chronia's father muttered nervously; his response seemed to appease Onix's parents before they swiftly marched off, leaving Chronia's parents to wonder what they were actually going to do.
