Chapter 11: Sheep In The Road

Chapter 11: Sheep In The Road

The sun rested slightly above the horizon of the hilly countryside with fields filled with wheat-looking curly plants or frilly wooled sheep. A motorhome, detailed with various potion bottles and a cauldron metal sticker, trotted along the gravelly roads of the country as an upbeat instrumental theme belonging to a dude who loves drinking ketchup played from the motorhome's radio.

"Dodododo-dodo-do-dodo-dodo-da," a cheerful young-sounding girly-voiced teen girl sang in sync with the song as she drove her motorhome. (The fifteen-year-old teen is a short humanoid sharkling/shibaru[bright pink curly furred shiba inu ears with dark grey blue gradient tips, slight sharp canine teeth and sharp fangs, and three poofy and big bright pink curly furred shark tail-shaped shiba inu tails with dark grey blue gradient tips]; she has bright pink curly hair with dark grey blue gradient tips, violet eyes with her right pupil being in the shape white potion bottle insignia, dark grey blue slightly scaley-textured skin which is soft to the touch)(She's wearing a pink short-sleeved shirt, an open fuzzy zip-up pink hoodie, grey trouser with bold pink lines on each side of the trousers, fuzzy pink slippers)

The teen continued to sing along with the song on her radio, but her singing gradually died down as she noticed a sheep with green wool and was slightly bulkier than a normal sheep standing in the middle of the road while staring the teen's motorhome down. The motorhome came to a gradual stop with at least three motorhomes worth of space between the motorhome and the odd sheep. The teen groaned and rested her head on the top of the steering wheel as she stared at the off sheep.

"Urg... not another of these sheep in the road; the last one took ages to deal with," the teen whined. The teen glared at the sheep, and the two proceeded to enter a staring contest before the odd sheep took a step towards the motorhome. The teen slowly moved her hand to the motorhome's gear stick and shifted the motorhome into reverse gear.

The teen watched the odd sheep as she gradually made her motorhome reverse away from the odd sheep; however, much to the dismay of the teen, the odd sheep continued walking toward her as she continued reversing her motorhome. The teen tapped her fingers on the steering wheel as the odd sheep continued to follow her. The girl stopped her motorhome and shut it off before she slumped back into her driver's seat.

"Curse those dumb government dummies for making honking at abundasheep illegal," the teen murmured, "And this one's way going to be way too heavy for me to lift over the fence.". The teen placed her hands on her face before rubbing it as she failed to register the footsteps coming from outside her motorhome.

"Careful, Zalroth, if someone sees you hurt them you'll be in serious trouble," Chronia stated cautiously. The teen opened her eyes to see the abundasheep being held with a single arm from her windscreen and carried over to the metal fence separating the sheep-filled field and the road. Zalroth dropped the abundasheep into the fenced-off field on its feet.

"Try asking for help in a way that doesn't mean standing in the middle of the road next time," Zalroth said to the abundasheep as it waddled over to the other sheep, which greeted the abundasheep. The motorhome's passenger side window rolled down before the teen poked her upper body out of the window while resting her hands on the door's window frame.

"Thank you so much for helping me, and I guess helping the abundasheep; oh, and my name is Ruiria, Ruiria Melody," the teen said as she intentionally rolled out of the window before landing on top of her tails to cushion the fall. Ruiria hopped to her feet, and her jaw dropped when she spotted Chronia floating in front of her motorhome, which was also followed by Chronia's jaw-dropping when she saw Ruiria.

"Oh my goodness! Nia, it's been ages," Ruiria exclaimed as she sprinted and tackle-hugged Chronia, leading the two to float in the air instead of crashing on the road thanks to Chronia naturally being able to float.

"Yeah, it's so good to see you too~ but I'm going by Chronia now," Chronia stated, causing Ruiria to nervously giggle.

"Oh shoot, I totally forgot you mentioned that when you called me to help you... wait, speaking of the plan what are you doing so far away from Verlask? It's still like a three-day drive from here," Ruiria said before she carefully lowered her legs to the ground and dropped onto it.

"About that... thanks to Zalroth here. I ended up not needing to get married," Chronia remarked as she pointed to Zalroth using her thumb, which made Zalroth turn away and huff.

"Woah... didn't think you'd be able to make friends with someone I've never met before," Ruiria remarked. Chronia lowered her eyelids at Ruiria's comment before she shook her head.

"You remember that silver fox cub you saw on my shoulder when you visited me before you and your parents moved to the other side of the country?" Chronia asked while doing air quotes with her fingers when she said fox. Ruiria nodded her head before a light bulb flicked on in her brain followed by said light bulb exploding upon realising Zalroth and the fox were one in the same.

"I knew he wasn't a fox... but didn't think he was a full-fledged kitsune... Neeto. Besides that... is he like a lawyer or something? Can't imagine him being able to convince a pair as convicted to their decisions as Onix and Max's parents otherwise," Ruiria stated. Ruiria's comment made a sweat drop form on Chronia's face and made Chronia nervously giggle.

"Yeah, about that...," Chronia uttered half-heartedly. Chronia followed up by reiterating the happenings from the previous day's events. Ruiria's mouth went agape after Chronia finished her retelling.

"He can fly?" Ruiria asked, which caused Zalroth to amusedly huff.

"Aren't you focusing on the wrong thing?" Zalroth asked as he turned around to face the others.

"Look crashing a wedding is cool and all, but flying takes priority in the coolness tierlist ranking since it can be done whenever," Ruiria explained, with Chronia nodding her head in agreement while leaving Zalroth at a loss for words.

"You certainly fit the bill of being one of Chronia's friends," Zalroth remarked before he turned to the embarrassed Chronia who was itching her cheek, "So, you actually had a plan?". Chronia nodded and placed her hands on her hips.

"Naturally, after my parents told me, I called Ruiria, and we had planned to have me and you sneak out a few days after the wedding. But, I didn't anticipate you doing what you did... although, all in all, this was certainly a better outcome since I didn't get married," Chronia cheekily remarked as she nudged Zalroth with her elbow. Zalroth rolled his eyes before he leapt into the air, landed on the roof of the motorhome and led down on it.

"Oh... should I try and get him down?" Chronia asked. Ruiria playfully waved her hand up and down.

"Nah, if he wants to come in he can use the sunroof, plus he'll be able to quickly move any abundasheep we come across in the future," Ruiria remarked. Chronia nodded her head and raised a fist into the air.

"Alright~ let our epic road trip adventure to Notiepla begin!" Chronia excitedly proclaimed as she floated through the open passenger door window and into the middle area of the motorhome. Ruiria swayed her head from side to side as she chuckled over Chronia's proclamation.

"How is she still obsessed with going on an adventure?" Ruiria asked rhetorically as she walked around the front of her motorhome, opened the driver door and climbed in. The motorhome roared to life before Ruiria turned it around and drove in the opposite direction of Verlask.
