Chapter 52

Johnny wakes up, his eyes hazy. It was pitch black where he was, and it smelled like dirt. He tries to extend his hands, but was blocked. His body seemed to be encased in some sort of box.

Johnny extends his spiritual sense, then he smirks, realizing where he was.

He was buried six feet underground, in a wooden coffin.

Johnny lets out a sigh, before breaking his fist through the coffin. Dirt began to flood in. Johnny breaks the hole open further, before kneeling, and standing.

He pushes his body upwards, through the dirt, and begins to climb out of the hole.

Bedraggled, and dirty, Johnny climbs out of the hole, and lay on his back, before breathing in the air.

“Oh my god! Johnny!” A familiar voice calls out.

Johnny turns to see and his eyes widen. It was Mary Rose.

He quickly sits up, and his emotions couldn’t help but bubble. He forces a frown on his face and looks away.

Mary Rose quickly runs up to him and kneels down. “Johnny! Oh, Johnny, what happened? The guards told us you died!” She exclaims.

Johnny lets out a sigh and looks around.

The rest of his friends were following behind. With them was blonde, blue-eyed boy.

Johnny lets out a sigh. “So you’ve chosen another path.” He says bitterly. “I’m not happy, Mary Rose; but I wish you the best. I hope you’re happy with him.” He says, forcing the words out.

Mary Rose raises an eyebrow. “Johnny? What are you talking about?” She asks, confused.

Johnny raises an eyebrow. “Haven’t you left me? For the blue-eyed boy?” He asks, also confused.

Mary Rose furrows his brows. “Johnny, are you ill? I haven’t left you. Roman has no interest in me. Why? Did you want me to seduce him? I mean, if you’re open to that, I could also be into it.” She says, considering the issue.

Johnny lets out a cough. “Gross. Let’s not think about that. Anyways, let’s get out of here.” He says as he stands up.

Johnny was forced to disguise himself, but the group was able to make their way back to the inn.

Johnny lays on the bed and thinks over this recent experience.

It turns out the group had saved Roman from a group of trolls.

They had just met him, when they heard about Johnny’s death.

Mary Rose and Roman have had hardly any chance to get to know each other.

Johnny lets out a sigh. It was such a dangerous state of mind. When you lose yourself, and become a part of the world, truth and lies, are intertwined. It’s all true, because the possibility of it exists, but a lot of it is also a lie, because in the real world, people wouldn’t make the choices that led up some of these places. It was a place of dreams, truths that had to be acknowledged, but doesn’t have to exist.

Johnny lets his mind drift, thinking about the issue. Maybe if I didn’t exist, Mary Rose would have met Roman in another world, and they could have fallen in love, I’m sure there’s some reflection of that world, that allowed all that to exist. He thinks, acknowledging it.

He lets out a sigh and shakes his head. But unfortunately I do exist, and I’m not letting go of Mary Rose, unless the world turns against us. He thinks to himself.

So much was allowed in the world, that for Johnny to be allowed this love, was really not such a selfish thing. There were so many people in the world, and so many lives to live, that in the vast universe, this love was just ripples in the rain, a part of the natural world, and just people being people.

Johnny sits up. Well, I got that out of my system. Should I just level up? There’s also the demon king… Maybe I should pay him a visit… He thinks, considering his options.
