Chapter 35

Romulus led the group to the cafeteria for a meal. He quickly orders a bunch of food before going to sit with Johnny and his friends.

“So it's been resolved?” Johnny asks, curious how the situation had progressed. He knew very well how sticky dealing with vampires could be.

Romulus lets out a sigh. “Yes, it's been resolved. The Wizard Association decided to pay the price. Still… for my disciple… It isn't worth it.” He says with a bitter smile.

Johnny pats him on the arm. “You did what you could.” He says.

Romulus lets out a chuckle. “Without you, I wouldn’t have been able to do much. What did you do by the way? You clearly weakened him in some way.” He says, a little curious.

“I have some knowledge in formations. I set up a yang gathering formation.” Johnny says.

Romulus lets out a laugh. He knew how harmful yang energy was to vampires. “Well I’m glad you were there.” He says.

Johnny smiles.

“Well look who it is? Mister ‘I like to take advantage of beautiful women’; mister ‘My farts smell like blueberries and women love it’!” A man says as he walks over, drawing the attention of those nearby.

Mary Rose couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Johnny could only smile bitterly.

“Romulus, is this douchebag with you?” The man asks.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

Romulus raises an eyebrow. He wasn’t quite sure what was going on. “Yes, Richard, they’re with me. What seems to be the issue?” He asks, curious.

“Oh, no issue. It’s just this kid stole a flower away from me. I’m curious, kid, what makes a third stage turd so capable? Do you dare fight me? You’re clearly special in some way if these ladies are clinging to you so tightly. I want you to show me.” Richard says.

Johnny lets out a sigh. “No, I won’t fight you.” He says, not looking at the man directly.

“So you’re not only trash, you’re a coward as well? Very special, indeed. Trash.” He says before walking away.

Romulus was weirded out from beginning to end. “Are you going to take that?” He asks, wondering why Johnny’s response was so weak.

Johnny shakes his head. “All I can do is take it.” He says, helpless in the matter.

“Anything?” Ronin asks, watching closely as the witch operates the crystal ball.

The witch’s brows furrow. “This… person… He hid himself deeply… And it seems that karma doesn’t wish to reveal him…” She says, trying her best.

“Is he so formidable?” Ronin asks, somewhat in doubt.

“Wait… There’s something…” The witch says as she opens her eyes and begins to manipulate the crystal. From the crystal, a hint of an aura begins to reveal itself.

Ronin’s eyes widen. He recognized that aura. He had seen it earlier today.

After confirming it, Ronin immediately decided on the matter. “Call off the investigation.” He says.

An eighth stage vampire’s eyes widen. “What!? How can you call off the investigation!? That was a whole family that was wiped out! An eighth stage vampire and multiple stage sevens!” He exclaims. If they let this matter go, the vampires of Movie Capital would become a laughingstock.

Ronin shakes his head. “I know that aura. I’m not going up against that behemoth. I still value my life.” He says, causing the other vampires to widen their eyes.

In truth, if Ronin were to face Johnny, he could most likely take Johnny’s life easily. But when Ronin looked at him earlier in the day, he was looking at Johnny’s essence, the essence of a man who had reached the peak of cultivation. Thus, Ronin was right to be a little cautious, it’s just that the reality was somewhat different than his assumptions.

“The vampires of Movie Capital are to pursue this matter no further. We are washing our hands clean of this.” He says to the vampires, increasing their shock. “Hand over the profile.” He says to his assistant. When Ronin saw Johnny earlier today, he immediately had someone investigate him. Although, he didn’t believe a single thing on the profile, such as ‘high school graduate’ or ‘lives in the suburbs with a family of five’, the profile still served to identify the man.

The assistant hands over Johnny’s profile.

“I want this photocopied and scanned, then sent to all the vampires of Movie Capital. This is a man we cannot offend.” Ronin says.

An eighth stage vampire picks up the profile and confusion appears in his eyes. “Eighteen years old? Recent high school graduate? Are you serious?” He asks, finding that this was getting weirder and weirder.

“I’m dead serious.” Ronin says. He sits back in his chair and lets out a sigh. Should I send a peace offering? He wonders.
