Chapter 36

Lucy leans in and kisses Johnny deeply. “Thank you.” She says, delighting in the heat of her body and the sweat dripping down her skin.

Johnny lets out a sigh. “If only it wasn't so complicated.” He says.

Lucy smiles. “But that's the fun in life. What's hotter, doing the right thing and choosing one girlfriend, or watching as two beautiful women crave to be with you?” She says, seeing through the heart of this man.

Johnny couldn't help but laugh.

Lucy smiles and kisses him again, delighting in the taste of him. “Come with me tomorrow? I’d like you to meet someone. She’s a witch from my coven.” She says.

Johnny smiles. “Sure. But what are you going to do for me?” He asks as he caresses her cheek.

Lucy continues to smile. She kisses his cheek, then his neck, then his chest, then…

“Lucy! Babe!” An older lady with greying hair says, leaning in to give Lucy a hug. “I haven’t seen you in ages! How’s your mother?” She says before caressing Lucy’s cheek. “My god, look at you. You’re beautiful. No longer playing in the mud?” She says with a smile.

Lucy smiles. “No, auntie Mildred. And my mom’s fine. They’re touring the old country. How have you been?” She asks.

“Oh, me? What do you think? I’m stuck in this swamp with only smelly wizards to keep me company! Let me tell you, wizards are incapable of understanding women. They expect to break everything down into numbers and formulas, but women are greater than their calculations. They’re like marble sculptures, nice to look at, but not much use for anything good. A sculpture can hardly make my heart ache, make my stomach so queasy that I can’t think straight. And who’s this?” The older lady says before gesturing to Johnny.

A blush forms on Lucy’s face at all those words, the subject causing her to recall a few experiences. “This is my sculpture.” She says.

The lady looks at Lucy’s bright red face and her eyes widen. “Does he make your heart ache?” She says in a whisper.

Lucy nods shyly.

The lady covers her open mouth. “Oh my. Girl, I really envy you. Enjoy the pain while you can. The memory of it is what gets you through old age. Oh, the bliss of an aching heart! The destructive nature of love! Ah! Alas, my time has passed. Come in, girl. Tell me what you’ve been up to.” She says before leading the two inside.

“You wiped out a vampire family in Movie Capital!? How did you survive!?” Mildred exclaims.

Johnny smiles and takes a sip of his tea. “We got lucky.” He says honestly.

“Oh my. So you must be quite formidable? Do you know anything about magic?” Mildred asks.

Johnny nods. “I know a little.” He says.

Mildred smiles. “Then maybe you can help me with something? I’m trying to make a karma curse. Something that travels through the population like an infection. If they pass the karma curse check, they’ll be unharmed, but if they are deemed impure, the curse will activate.” She says casually.

Lucy’s eyes widen in shock. She was speechless at the intensity of the words and the casualness of the speech.

Johnny’s eyes widen. He was shocked at how diabolical this was. This was an evil mastermind level of maliciousness. Johnny lets out an awkward laughter. “How exactly are you trying to accomplish that?” He asks, curious.

Mildred lets out a smirk. “The curse obviously has to bind to something human, so a thousand or so samples of blood should do. I have the blood, it’s just that I’m not exactly sure where to put the division line for the curse’s judgement. I don’t want to end up harming anyone I’m close to.” She says.

Johnny shakes his head. “You’re just going to have to risk it. I’m sure you’ve already considered what level of sin you’re willing to tolerate. If they fall within that line, they can only blame themselves. You’ll surely be able to purify the mortal realm, but I’m not sure of the effect on those in the supernatural world.” He says.

Mildred continues to grin. “That’s the thing. This is just a test. If I’m able to advance the spell so it affects those on the sixth stage and below, I’ll have the basis to advance to the eighth stage.” She says, letting out some excitement.

Johnny lets out awkward laughter. “You’re a terrifying woman.” He says.

Mildred’s smile becomes brighter. “Thank you!” She says.

Lucy shakes her head. “Auntie Mildred… Who knew you were so diabolical…” She says, somewhat in disbelief.

Mildred lets out a laugh. “This level of devilishness runs in your blood, child. Who do you think helped me out with this spell that it’s gotten to this point?” She asks, amused.

Lucy’s eyes widen once more. “Mom!? No, she wouldn’t!” She says in disbelief.

Mildred only continues to chuckle.
