The Fall (3)

*Noise, noise, noise.*

Jack began to regain consciousness slowly. He couldn't gather the strength to open his eyes yet, but he started to hear some noise and people talking. Gradually, he opened his eyes, squinting against the brightness. He could hear some commotion and voices talking. Then, he slowly opened his eyes until the bright light entered, causing him to shut them again. After a few seconds, he opened them again, and this time, he was more accustomed to the intense light. He saw that he was kneeling on a strange floor.

Jack didn't know what was happening, but he remembered what had happened to him, and he recognized the same circular platform from the fourth section. The first thing Jack tried to do was to move, but he found that chains were preventing him from doing so. At that moment, the voices noticed that Jack had regained consciousness, so they all fell silent.

Jack raised his head and looked at the large and elevated trial desk where five figures were seated, resembling royalty, as they all stared at him like he was an extinct animal.

Silence filled the room for a moment before one of the five spoke up, asking, "Is this him?"

"I think so. I mean, look at the chaos he caused," a woman replied.

"But we don't have any real evidence. Maybe he's just insane? I mean..." another person said before being interrupted by another woman.

"I understand what you mean. It has been three centuries since the last Transfer came to this world."

"...," the third woman remained silent.

Jack looked to his side and saw the powerfully built man with the scar and the elegant old man. Jack remembered how he was deceived like a fool. Everything became clear. The powerful man with the scar used the old man as bait to showcase Jack's abilities. If Jack managed to avoid his traps, defeat the old man, and lower his guard, the powerful man would strike back...

"Scoundrel," Jack thought, feeling stupid. But more importantly, he needed a way to defeat the situation.

All the Transfers had been killed by the man with the scar using the iron ball. But why would they implant explosives in the Transfers, who were valuable test subjects for them?

Jack looked back at the five people above him, and they were discussing as if they were debating what to do with an alien creature. At that moment, one of them looked at Jack, appearing to be the oldest among them.

"Answer truthfully, are you a Transfer? Someone who reincarnates from another world into ours, taking the body of one of our dead citizens?" The man's tone was threatening and disdainful.

Jack simply replied, "No," but a soft whistle came from the base where he knelt.

"A cursed lying scum!" a woman retorted sharply, while another said, "So, he's genuine."

At that moment, Jack wasn't sure if he saw this scene clearly, but he could barely make out the glimmer in the third woman's eyes.

The four started arguing again, but the third woman only looked at Jack. However, Jack was already thinking about a way to get out of this situation.

"Hmm, I've been in tougher spots. You guys are just dreamers. You want to erase me? Hahaha, I'm almost immortal! Even if I die in this world, I'll be reincarnated into another world, and that's it," Jack continued thinking. "I'm trapped in chains with people who want to kill me, and my skill won't work with the calm down. I can't use my dagger without my hands, so I have no choice but to ask the system."

Jack decided to ask the system, but the first man slapped the desk hard and ended the discussion.

"Enough! We'll just follow the protocol to avoid any risks. Is that clear?" he declared.

"Yes..." the four of them answered in unison before returning their gaze to Jack.

The first man spoke, "Sera ... Bring it here!" At that moment, a blonde woman with black eyes, wearing a scientist's white coat, entered while carrying a certain metal sphere.

A smile appeared on the scientist's face, turning her exhausted expression into something terrifying as she handed the sphere to the man with the scar. He approached Jack, looking into his cold eyes.

"The weapon was made by His Majesty himself, the former ruler of this world. The Dragon of Miracles. With this, we can extract and seal the essence of a creature's soul, ensuring that it won't reincarnate into any other world," the man explained.

Jack felt the sensation of his soul being devoured, the feeling of his existence fading away. No more reincarnations, nothing. It was like he had existed before, but now he didn't.

He looked for a way out, and the seconds seemed like hours. As the man's hand slowly descended, Jack thought about his options. He could spit at the man with the scar, creating an opportunity to move or at least create a chance to move slightly.

The man's hand came down slowly, and Jack's heart pounded. He decided to ask the system for help, but before he could, the man's hand Suddenly, he heard a clapping sound, and in the next moment, the man with the scar turned and pointed his gun at the four commanders upstairs. Jack heard four gunshot sounds, and then.... everything fell silent.

Jack stared defiantly at the silent third woman. He couldn't believe what she had done. She looked back at him, smiling coldly, raising her hand to her lips as if enjoying his suffering.

"Excuse my behavior... Let me introduce myself. I'm Cassia , the leader of Province C, and these corpses were also leaders of the five provinces of this nation. But I prefer my friends to call me the Dawn's Vanguard leader. You're Jack Wilson, a member of my province, right? Hehe, finally, we meet. I've been watching you for a long time."
