Nicoli's pov

My eyes adjust to the luminous room as I enter the old white door. Everything looked pretty plain and simple. With the exception of the decorations that made it a bit cozier.

A girl with blond hair brushed into a low bun was looking out of the small, cracked window that was open. The two strands of hair in front were blowing against her face as it was windy.

While leaned against the window sill, she held her fist to support her head. Her toes were on the tips of them because she was too small to reach the window.

Suddenly, the floor cracked, and she turned around. Those ocean eyes are looking at me. I felt like I had melted into the floor. I was speechless at her beauty. Yet there was more to it than just her face. Something about her was magical.

A furrow appeared between her eyebrows, and her arms were locked together. The speed of her heart got a bit by a bit faster. Then I realized she was afraid of me.

I forgot that I am not a human being. I am a monster. How could she find me appealing? A monster who would kill for her blood. Sucking every drop of her blood out of her system.

"W-Who are you? What are y-you doing in my room?" She stuttered.

I controlled my crazy emotions to not show my red eyes in front of her. Those sweet eyes can't hate me.

You should at least like me for one percent.

"I'm here to deliver a message from Talia." I confidently said and cleared my throat.

She let go of her guard and looked at me more softly than before. I did not dare to take another step forward. I would rather keep my distance for her safety. Every day I am in the same house as Talia, but I got used to her smell, and I don't want her blood.

This girl does not smell the same. She has the sweetest scent you could ever imagine. For humans, I suppose marshmallows. Though there's more than sweetness to it. Lavender is surrounding her too.

"Tali? My sister?!" She said with her eyes out. Suddenly, she sighed and took quick steps toward me. I moved backward; however, the door stopped me right away.

Her dead stare surprised me. The fire behind those blue eyes. Dangerous even so.

"Where is she?" She asked in a serious tone. I blinked multiple times, avoiding her look. Then she placed her hands on my chest and shoved me against the door.

I couldn't help but stare at those lips. She was incredibly cute. I wanted to let my laughter escape, yet I couldn't take away the power she felt over me at that moment.

"Talia is doing well, Miss. Her massage was, 'Please tell her I'm doing great and that she has nothing to worry about.'

She looked away, as she was busy thinking about it. "Is that all she said?" She asked with one eyebrow raised.

"Yes, Miss. She wishes you could visit her after you leave this place." I think Darcia was ready to kill me from the other side of the door when she heard this. She doesn't like Stacey one bit. Do you have an idea why?

"Ohh, I don't know who you are to her, and I frankly don't care. Just let her know I miss her incredibly, and I can't wait to be reunited again." She softly said, peering into my eyes.

I nodded and gave her a quick smile. Her hands finally moved away from my chest, yet her warmth was missed, leaving my body cold again. I knew Darcia would be against Stacey coming into our house, although I know deep down that bringing Stacey there is the right thing to do for Talia. I care about her. I never cared about a human being apart from my past lover.

I took a step forward and grabbed her shoulder gently. I placed my lips close to her ear and whispered, "I'll come for you when the time is right."

She immediately took a step back from me, looking confused at me. She still decided to half-nod, considering I'm the one who can bring her to Talia.

I turned back to the door and grabbed the handle. When I heard her softly say, "Thank you," I smiled and opened the door. Darcia's crimson-red eyes were killing me. Her eyes have such a dark color compared to mine. Only pure-blood vampires can have it. Even though I'm pure blood, her blood is different and stronger.

"Let's go home." She said and left at vampire speed to the car without waiting for me. Obviously.

The car ride home felt very tense. The grip on the wheel was too strong. She was furious; you could see her anger by just looking at her.

"I don't wish for her to come." She finally spoke. "I don't want her to meet what's mine." She spoke again.

Vampires and love are a dangerous combination. Deadly, I would even say.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"Darcia slow down. Don't let the anger take over you. You're being unreasonable." I sighed. "Don't you want to make Talia happy?" I asked.

She remained silent for the rest of the ride home. I guess you could say that she still had not completely learned to love. What she doesn't know is that Talia won't like her behavior, and in that way, she will eventually hate her.

We parked the car inside the garage and took those long steps upstairs. Talia was impatiently waiting for us, wrapped in her big brown blanket with a cup of tea in her hands. Those glaring eyes full of hope to see someone she loves so much made me sorrowful. I won't disappoint her after all; she was the only one who understood my pain.

Not even if Darcia was against it.

Darcia's pov

As he entered the room, my old memories exploded, and I remembered how I had been there before.

I did not come normally, but by a window at that time. I never really cared for the other girl with whom Talia shared a room. She wasn't as interesting to me as Talia.

When I destroyed the phone Talia had with her, I read some of the messages that the girl sent her.

"I miss you."

"Call me or text me back."

"I hope you're okay."

"How is your new family?"

It was pretty annoying of her to do that. Calling and texting almost every day without any answer back. She kept on trying, but I destroyed that stupid phone the more she tried to reach out.

I didn't mind her much when Talia was talking briefly about her. They have a big history together. It's understandable.

My easiness vanished the minute she mentioned meeting her again.

I thought I lost her just a few days ago, and now she has too many plans that she badly wishes would come true.

I never looked back at my victims and wanted to reconnect with them. Why does she have the urge to slip back into the past when her current life is with me and no one else?

What will her next step be? Go back to the orphanage and meet Mr. Elwood. Break down and tell him everything that's on her mind? I won't let that happen.

It is not worth risking losing her.

Nicoli took longer than I had expected. I could sense how scared that girl was. But yeah, I would be too if I had a tall guy in my bedroom who has long ass white hair telling me about someone I know that he knows her as well. I would be pretty scared too.

Whispering doesn't mean I won't hear what is coming out of your mouth. Nicoli thought I lost my sharp hearing because I'm weaker now.

"I'll come for you when the time is right."

Is he crazy? I presume he is. Why should I let her enter my house and let her meet what's mine?

I don't see the need for doing so. Nicoli delivered the message, and that's about it. End of their interaction.

Our ride home was pretty awkward. I didn't want to make it that way; however, he left me with no choice. I had the urge to smash the car into the nearest tree to stop my flaming anger. Thankfully, I managed it, and when we walked up the stairs from the garage, my eyes met Talia's. The most magnificent eyes you could ever come upon.

Her emerald eyes glanced at me and Nicoli. She kept her focus more on me for some reason. I sensed her excitement for the good news that Nicoli would tell her in a few minutes. She knew that he wouldn't disappoint her, unlike me. She could have asked me to do this for her, except she did not.

I can't stand the feeling that I'm not the closest to her. How could she trust him more to accomplish this rather than me?

I continued walking and stopped before her. I wanted to kiss her, but her gaze fell to the floor. My forehead creased, and my mouth twisted as I bore my eyes on her.

Nicoli took his leave as per usual and left a brief wind as the trace of himself.

"Why do you hate someone I love?" I couldn't believe my ears when I heard this. She confessed her love for someone else.

I took a step back, and a fire was created inside me. My eyes switched, and my claws grew. With all the anger that had built up, I swung my arm next to her and caused four long traces that my claws left on the white wall.

She flinched, and her mug shattered into a million tiny pieces. I was more than disgusted with myself at that moment. I suddenly felt like the true monster.

Talia immediately started sobbing, and Nicoli appeared next to her in a second. I just stood there with my arms folded, looking at her.

This distance we created between us in just a few days is unbelievable. I couldn't reach her as I had before. Her trust in me was steadily breaking. My heart was getting ice-cold again. Her warmth was barely there.

Her gaze strayed from mine for a brief minute, and a slight stab into my heart arrived.

"Why are you looking at me this way? What- I don't-" I stuttered, searching for words to say.

In this instance, I disappeared upstairs to my room. I clung to my satin-red sheets, which were slowly turning wet from my tears.

I am not someone who cries. I rarely do. Because crying means weakness, and I was weak at this moment. The weakest I have ever felt. Someone you love and cherish is not running toward you for comfort anymore.

After a few minutes, suddenly, a warm hand touched my leg, and I quickly looked, analyzing that she had come back. No words needed to be exchanged. She crawled onto the bed at first, hesitating, looking into my watery eyes, but then she lay next to me.

Her hand slowly reached for my arm while still maintaining eye contact. Her two fingers were pinching together the top of my shirt. She broke our hypnotizing eye contact and snuggled even impossibly closer to my body.

"Loving someone doesn't always need to be romantic. Stacey is my sister, even though it's not by blood. She is my family." She took a deep breath. "Darcia, I-I fucking love you." She said quietly through her tears.

I couldn't hold back anymore. My body shifted on top of hers, and my lips smashed against hers. Soft moans escaped our mouths.

I grabbed her hands and pinned them above her head. Her legs immediately locked around my waist.

I stared into her soul and said, "Nisi in perpetuum mea." โ˜Only forever mine in Latinโ˜
