The Top Hat Terror

"Goddamnit!" Batman yelled. He and Robin had been tied together and hanging upside down for the past hour now, but there was no way out he could see. The rope suspending them was made of that metal mesh frigates used to secure cargo containers. There was no way they could get out, and even then, the guard stationed throughout the warehouse all had their eyes on him.

"Alfred, do you read me?" There was no response.

Batman and Robin had underestimated their opponent. Expecting an easy fight with simple thugs, they instead ran into foreign military soldiers planning a coupe.

Alfred meanwhile, had been vacuuming the Batcave for the past hour. As he was passing the bat-computer (Quite childishly named, in his opinion), he happened to notice Batman and Robin were in a pickle. After a moment of deliberation, he sighed and walked over to the janitorial closet. Putting the vacuum away, he grabbed a large black suitcase out of the back, and a top hat with a veil. Getting into a cab, he waited, tense.

Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.

Exiting the taxi, Alfred started climbing up a nearby building, suitcase in hand, tophat on head, suit looking snazzy. Reaching the roof of the apartment, he placed his suitcased down and assembled his sniper.

Using his suitcase as a rest, he counted 36 men in basic military uniform, 3 with single chevrons, and 1 with double chevrons.

"Well, might as well take the head off the chicken now..." Alfred muttered to himself, aiming at the leader.

"But then again, why not just pluck all the feathers off the chicken?" He murmured, aiming his sniper at the men in the dark.

Ting! Ting!

Alfred's suppressed sniper-rifle made little noise, and before anyone had noticed, the only men left were the captain and his lieutenants. Aiming at the rope holding Batman and Robin, he fires at the hook holding them, letting them plummet to the ground.

Free, they rush towards the only four remaining fighters., and beat them soundly. It helped that half had been tranquilized before the fight.

Sighing, Alfred put away the gun. The Tophat Terror was no longer a household name in Gotham, sadly.
