We trained like this for a week, and gah damn did we see results. First off, Inkay. He was very weak when we first started, barely managing to do 5 minutes of laps before he couldn’t continue. He also couldn’t make Ferroseed budge, which wasn’t surprising given the fact she was using Gravity to increase her weight from 12kg (26 lbs.) to 60kg (132 lbs.).
After a week, he was easily running the entire 30 minutes and was trying to increase the number of laps he could do within those 30 minutes. At the moment he was at 26 laps. He could also roll Ferroseed around, which was amazing because Inkay weighed about 4kg (9 lbs). The increase in strength was simply astounding.
His move training was also progressing very nicely. The move Peck was able to destroy boulders, which were conveniently left in some areas of the room by those training their Rock-types. He was also able to gather the energy for Payback in a second, a huge increase from the minute it took him a week ago.
Lastly, Disable was difficult to gauge. He could only use it on Ferroseed while training, so I wasn’t sure how much it progressed because Ferroseed was getting used to the effects of the move and was able to recover much more quickly than before.
I wasn’t too sure about the accuracy of the Pokémon world’s internet culture, but I had seen more than a few posts talking about how training with certain moves like Disable could lead to Pokémon being able to shrug off its effects if weaker Pokémon were to use it. At the very least, it was helping Ferroseed train her Infinity Energy manipulation.
On that note, Ferroseed was also showing a lot of improvement. Since she was still a baby, she couldn’t join the physical training. However, she was able to partake in move training just fine, which meant she showed a lot of improvement in that regard. Her Gravity move had originally only been able to double the effects of gravity. At the moment, the effect was much stronger, with five times normal gravity being the extent of the move.
Her Leech Seed had also shown lots of growth. When she first started, she was barely able to gather enough energy to send out a seed or two. Now, she could send dozens. She was also able to decrease the number of seeds to increase the efficacy of the seeds, leading to more health being stolen. Or she could increase the number of seeds in exchange for a decrease in power to ensure the opponent was hit. We were able to test this out with poor Inkay.
Lastly, Harden was definitely worth the training. Even though she was still a baby, Ferroseed was still able to easily take several Pecks from Inkay after just one use of Harden. It also helped that she is a Steel-type, but Grass-type’s weakness to Flying-types evened that out. Man, just the thought of having a tank like Ferrothorn set up and sweep some gyms was getting me pumped.
Over the week, I had Inkay and Ferroseed practice their moves on each other in mock battles. I wanted to wait till Ferroseed grew out of her baby phase until they started real battles against each other. In the meantime, they used their moves on each other and got used to the feeling of getting hit and slamming into things, for Ferroseed and Inkay respectively.
At least they won’t hesitate to attack after feeling some pain or dealing some damage in their first battle, a very real phenomenon that some people tend to forget. It was something I learned over my life. There was a certain feeling of not wanting to take things too far, to see if the fight was over. It was these times that were the most dangerous
It was because of that that I didn’t sit back the entire time. No, I was also making sure to maximize my workouts. Something Nurse Joy noticed during one of the medical tests she ran was that my recovery time was much more than just recovery. Apparently, the more I work out, the more my body is primed for the next. This meant my body was a bottomless pit of potential in the world of strength training.
I already had the feeling this was the case because I kept increasing the weights to amounts I thought were ungodly compared to my previous gym sessions. Before, I had capped my squats to 159kg (350 lbs) because I was afraid of hurting my knees and lower back at those high weight levels. Now, I was easily squatting 363 kg (800 lbs.), and I was still feeling good. While this number wasn’t high when compared to Veteran trainers and those that specialized in Fighting-types or Aura, Nurse Joy told me this type of growth was unheard of in civilians and Senior trainers that just started their journeys.
I had enjoyed similar growth in my deadlifts and bench press, which meant my overall body strength was killer compared to others in my situation. I might be able to fight some Pokémon myself. That would be interesting, though I guess I would focus on the trainers themselves since that would be easier.
Anyway, I was much stronger than before. I could easily catch up to Veteran Trainers and Specialists like Brawly, who was rumored to be able to casually lift about three tons, though most of his feats were actually smashing apart giant boulders or preventing landslides from damaging towns. Most specialized trainers enjoyed some sort of benefit from the types they trained, though only a few could take it to such levels. I was aiming for Bruno’s level, one of the Elite Four members from the Kanto region. Now he was a monster. Someone that could go toe-to-toe in a serious brawl with a Machamp was someone to be terrified of.
At the moment, we were eating lunch. We had just finished a task that consisted of beating up some Pokémon that were sneaking into the PokéMart and taking food. Apparently, they had been doing this for several months, stopping for a couple of weeks at a time everytime a trainer was waiting for them.

(Earlier today)
We entered the PokéMart very early in the morning, staying behind the cash register. It was surprising that no one had noticed the break-ins before considering the Mart was located in the PokéCenter, but people are generally oblivious. We heard some noise coming from a window, and then from a wall at the back of the store.
When they arrived, I saw that the group consisted of two small Fletchling, a Litleo, and a pink Wormadam as the lookout. The surprise on their faces told me they definitely weren’t expecting someone, but their experience was evident when they immediately booked it out of the store without a wasted moment in between.
I followed them into the forest, Inkay out to make sure I wasn’t sneak attacked. I arrived at a very large tree, one that looked to be about three other trees combined. It had a hole near the bottom, though it was too small for me to crawl through.. When I got close, the Litleo jumped out while growling a warning.
I raised my hands to try to placate the Pokémon. While doing so, I saw several more Pokémon popping their heads out. There were several different kinds and all looked rather skinny. The two Fletchling looked at me warily from the branches. It seems as if this is the first time someone had actually found their spot.
‘I see now, they’re probably all hungry Pokémon. They gathered for protection in numbers.’
I brought out some berries to feed them, as well as some PokéFood. When Litleo saw this, he jumped in front of some others to make sure they didn’t grab the food, all the while he stared me down. Unbothered, I planted several different types of berries. I had collected quite a few of the more common berries while completing tasks, so planting several berries for them to have for themselves wasn’t too much of a hassle.
I told Litleo this was for them, while leaving another pile of berries. After that, I left. Hopefully the food would show that I didn’t want to hurt them, if they actually ate it. But more importantly, it would be much much better to have them grow their own food. Hopefully a stronger Pokémon wouldn’t come and kick them out or kill them. With their own food source, they’d get their strength back and be able to care for themselves without stealing and fighting Trainers.
I went back to the PokéMart, to make sure whatever entrance they used was properly closed and sealed. I then marked the job as complete, telling the owner what happened and how I dealt with it. He seemed surprised I didn’t just kill them, but said as long as they didn’t come back in a few weeks he’d give me another tip.

After finishing my lunch, I went to Nurse Joy for another check-up. She and a few other doctors and professors have been studying me for several different reasons. At this point, I ignored everything they told me about their tests and just did what I was told, to an extent. One of the researchers gave me his number, winking at me before leaving for the day. Though I didn’t roll that way, I was definitely adding him to my contacts.
He is currently studying abroad in Kalos, researching the Mega-Evolution phenomenon and its effects on trainers. Normally, he could be found in Kanto researching man-made Pokémon like Ditto, the Porygon line, and Mewtwo. He studied the last one with Satoshi, who I recognized as Red. I may not remember much about my own life, but the amount of Pokémon I played made me feel like social work was my hobby. The very obvious about the first several generations of the games and most Pokémon were practically memorized.
With his number added, I walked out to go complete another task. This time I was defending one of the shops from some guy who kept bothering the customers. They couldn’t ask the police because he wasn’t doing anything illegal or getting rowdy; he was just being an annoying asshole. I walked over, thinking Inkay could be enough to handle the guy. Hopefully. I’ve only been a trainer for a week and my starter was not in prime condition when I met him while my other Pokémon is still a baby.
As soon as I arrived, I could hear my target.
“Man, it seems like no one here knows a damn thing about food! How can anyone eat this shit?” a dude in a blue and gold varsity jacket and blue jeans said loudly. “The food in Unova is so much better than this crap. I’m not paying for this.”
The guy stood up to leave. He wasn’t very tall, only 1.7 meters (5’5”). His hair was dirty blonde, hazel eyes, looked like your average Amer- sorry, Unovan. Not skinny, but not very muscular either. He started walking out to leave when he noticed I was in the way.
“Move, fatty. I don’t have time to waste on a Spoink like you,” he growled as he attempted to push me out of the way. He ended up pushing himself a bit. “The fuck? I said get out of my way!”
He tried to push me again, but I didn’t budge. He honestly wasn’t very strong. It felt like one of the first graders I worked with trying to get me to go clean up his mess. Not today.
“I don’t know who you think you are, but I’m gonna say this once,” I told him while staring straight into his soul, not allowing myself to blink. “Shut the fuck up and pay.”
With that, I grabbed him by his jacket and lifted him up, taking him to the cash register. I was really surprised the jacket held together.
I’m gonna have to get myself a jacket of that material.
The guy was quiet the entire time, paying silently before stepping outside. He immediately took out his phone and made a call. Uh oh.
“Hey,” I told the cashier, “I’m the one that took up the task to deal with him. I’ll be right back.”
She nodded while staring outside, obviously waiting to see what happened. I walked out just after he finished his call.
“You fucked up fat ass. I just called my dad and he’s gonna deal with you,” he said with a grin. Psh.
“Oh, is daddy going to protect his little girl?” I said with that voice a lot of women used for babies. “Isn’t that cute. You’re gonna be saved real soon, don’t you worry sweetie.”
The guy’s face turned a comical shade of red. I knew my taunts were working. “Shut up, fatty. I don’t know why you’re making fun of me given how fat you are.”
“Gee, am I really that fat? I had no idea, I swear,” I said in fake disbelief. I even looked at myself and patted my body. “I was skinny just a few minutes ago, really!”
He was livid. I could see a few guys in suits the same color as his jacket walking over to us, so I knew I had to be quick. I made a few more comments about him being daddy’s precious baby and other stuff. Might have also said the word cuck, I can’t recall. Anyway, I was able to get him mad enough to throw a punch at me, which I let land on my face. It didn’t even make my head turn a centimeter.
“You don’ goofed,” I told him with a small smile.
The suited guys were now running, but they were not fast enough to stop me from palming his chest, sending him crashing to the other side of the street. Several people yelped at the sight of a man being thrown so harshly. The men in suits all took out their Pokéballs. Before they could send out their Pokémon, I called out to them, “Listen, take that little shit out of here. He punched me first, which all of you saw and several of the customers here definitely recorded. If you want to add to my police report, go ahead and continue.”
