Ch6: Qi Attunement

Ch6: Qi Attunement

It took me three months within the admin room, equivalent to nearly a decade on the planet below, to gain an understanding of both Ying and Yang Qi. Within these three months, I had advanced to the fourth ascension of the Mortal Rebirthing realm through channeling my unnatured Qi according to the Sun and Moon Celestial Body manual.

Frowning as I turned to the planet, I examined a person at the same realm as myself. Our quantity and quality of Qi was vastly different, in my favour. I checked a few others before turning to Qinglong.

"Why is there such a large difference in Qi quality and quantity between me and the other humans?" Qinglong lazily floated around as he answered.

"The quality of your manual is much higher, Kuan Ying." I smiled. I believe that was the first time he used my name since I'd become the Keeper. The word felt odd in my mouth, but Qinglong had told me to use it in place of 'God.'

"I see. Thank you, Qinglong." I turned my focus back to what felt like a lake of Qi within my body.

It was unformed and unshaped, sloshing chaotically around within my body. It was becoming difficult to circulate through my meridians, which is when the manual had advised me to construct both cores of Ying and Yang Qi. What I had to do now was attune it to these concepts.

My solution for this had come from a small revelation in regards to the technique name. Sun and Moon. That likely meant I could attune it to Ying and Yang the closer I was to both; which on the planet meant traveling to a mountain peak and cultivating under the the sky and focusing on both natures.

Qinglong had confirmed it after I'd come to that conclusion. Exiting the gazebo, I jumped lightly and landed on top of its roof. Qinglong curled around me, curiously watching. I closed my eyes and exerted my will on the admin room.

Above the gazebo, two equally sized globes appeared -- one glowing white hot, licks of flame curling off it and lashing around wildly. The other was quiet and dark, orbiting the sun in silence. I felt a smile grow on my face as I used my Qi sensing. It had worked.

The sun radiated Yang Qi, and the moon radiated Ying Qi. Focusing once more, the planet within the gazebo appeared in the center of the two celestial bodies. I sat in a meditative position, fixed in the center of the sun and moon. The planet lay in my lap, and I watched briefly to see what had happened over my brief period of absence.

With a frown, I noted the absence of the Crimson Gate Sect. I would have to ask Qinglong about its fate later. The Jade Lotus Sect was also surprising. Their member count was rather low, but their average cultivation was insanely high. Were they seeking out people with high talent to recruit?

I ignored the Buddhist sect in its entirety. I suspected something like that might pop up, as this was a Wuxia world. I took my attention off the globe and returned it to my own cultivation. In my Qi Ocean, I gradually began to replace the pure Qi with equal parts Ying and Yang.

Nearly a month had passed since I first began to work the natured Qi into my body, and it was unbelievably slow. Even now I was only about halfway done, yet my realm had progressed to the sixth ascension. I grunted as I turned to Qinglong.

"Would it be faster if I went down into the world?" He gave me an inquisitive look.

"It would be faster, yes. The energies of a true celestial body far outweigh these two creations. However, you would not be safe if you went into the world as of now." His voice was adamant. I frowned as I looked at the notification in front of me. After nearly another decade on the planet had passed, though only about a month here, I finally received another notification.

For the first time, a creature on your world has reached enlightenment and broke through to the third major realm. +5 Points

I could only shake my head in disbelief. With such inferior techniques, they had broken through to the third major realm already? I clicked onto the notification and saw a face I didn't recognize. Pulling up her identification, I understood.

Excellent

Twenty-two talent was the highest I'd seen so far, and an Excellent grade spirit root only complimented that. She was definitely the Sect Leader of the Jade Lotus Sect, so it made sense why she'd reached the third major realm already.

Looking at my own stats, I sighed as I saw my talent and spirit root empty. I'd already asked Qinglong why that was -- I needed a body within the world to get those stats. Of course, I could possess someone to steal theirs. But they had to be below my realm, which Mei Lei definitely wasn't.

I watched her for a few days as I cultivated. She was a practitioner of a technique she'd taken to calling the One Hundred Jade Fists that she herself had created. I thought about learning it, but decided it would be better to learn it after I had finished the first major realm.

I had a spear, so a melee technique wasn't exactly something I needed at the moment. I let time pass again as I watched over the world. Weeks passed before I finally finished attuning my Qi equally to both Ying and Yang.

I brought up the manual for the Sun and Moon Celestial Body technique. It said exactly what it had before. I needed to condense two Qi cores, one for Ying, and one for Yang. Every other technique I'd seen until now only formed one. I supposed it would make sense.

I did have excessive amounts of oppositely natured Qi, so trying to form a single core with it would likely lead to my death.

I felt the Qi swirl around within my body. I had reached the Eighth Ascension by this point, the thick Qi swirling around was difficult to control at best. It took three days and three nights of constant effort before the two cores had been formed. Highly compressed balls of Qi, really.

But their purpose was clear. Immediately I felt my control over my Qi grow exponentially as the cores began a binary orbit within my dantian. Qi poured in from the Admin Room as I felt myself immediately break through into the peak of the ninth ascension.

With a grunt, I realized that my body was beginning to fill with a little too much Qi. I hadn't been prepared for the major break through just yet, but I suppose I didn't really have any other choice now. I felt pain surge throughout my body as the breakthrough began.
