Ch12: King Midas seems poor today!

Ch12: King Midas seems poor today!

Seeing the success of my first afterlife I had created, I immediately got to work on the creation of my second afterlife system. The Karmic Waterwheel! Of course, it was basically a plagiarized version of the Samsara reincarnation wheel.

If I do say so myself, it turned out pretty good! I published it to the shop, the price set at around 75 points. Instantly, more purchases began to flood in! Three... four... six.. Ten!

My wealth was growing exponentially! I had just over 200 points now! I felt my mouth drop open. "Qinglong, surely it's not normal to get so many purchases so quickly, right?"

He hesitated before answering. "There's a couple reasons why you're getting so many. First, the price -- the system has rated these two afterlives as the best on the market. Of course, people will buy them. Secondly, the Keepernet is large -- several trillions of universes exist. Of course, people are always going to be buying things. It was a good idea to create items on the shop."

My eyebrows rose. "Several trillion?" I frowned. This was going to be too easy. I would just rip off every idea from earth! I don't think they'd mind. I let my fingers fly as I typed on the keyboard, entering every possible idea I could remember.

Devil Fruit [Power System] - 385 points!

Haki [Power System] - 400 points!

Quirks [Power System] - 380 points!

Nen [Power System] - 250 points!

Chakra [Power System] - 415 points!

...

I uploaded nearly thirteen different power systems before I checked the notifications that had been ringing out constantly, before frowning. What the hell! Every single power system except Devil Fruits, Haki, and Chakra had been rejected since they had already been uploaded by someone else.

What a scam! I sighed. Whatever, they were the most valuable ones I had created anyway. I watched gleefully as some points began to trickle in. Two hundred and forty points. Two-eighty! Three-twenty! Man, Midas must be jealous.

I yawned and stretched, before freezing. Fuck! I really needed to get back down to the planet. By this point, nearly two weeks had passed! In a panic, I grabbed the globe and checked Ming Yun's body.

There was someone just minutes away from finding her! Fuck! I clicked possess on her as fast as I could.

Zhiyue Xi was a totally average cultivator within the Jade Lotus Sect. She had no real talent that put her above anyone else, nor was her comprehension particularly high. However, the one area she did excel in was her fairly impressive ability to mind her own damn business.

Not many cultivators had this trait, hell, even the non-cultivators struggled with it! Always eavesdropping, always butting in. Zhiyue hated it. So, while on her daily walk exploring her sect compound -- which by the way, her sect was in the middle of a war, just not one she could participate in -- she decided to open a rather dusty door.

It looked like it had been around a month or so before it had been opened. Perhaps the was some kind of secret inheritance in there? Maybe, it was in the main compound. Didn't sect leader Mei Lei have her personal room around here somewhere?

She paused, her grip stubborn on the doors handle. Hmm. What if this was the sect leader's personal dormitory?

She wouldn't know.

What if she had some kind of formation or something to tell her?

Hmm.

Zhiyue, a totally normal cultivator, was quite curious what was behind this door. She could feel a fairly decent source of Qi behind it. Hmm...

She slid the door open slowly, and peeked inside. For a moment, she was quite disappointed. It was a normal storage closet! How boring!

Then, after completely sliding the door open with her confidence elevated that this wasn't some grand figures room, she stopped. Her mouth hung open!

Ming Yun, the little genius, was taking a nap right there on the floor! There was a puddle of drool hanging out of her mouth! What the f*ck?

Suddenly, like a horror movie, Ming Yun's eyes snapped open and her face grew stern. What the f*ck! Zhiyue Xi slammed the door of the storage closet shut. She pretended not to hear the child's angry ramblings as she ran away at full speed.

She saw nothing! Absolutely nothing!

But... so what if the little genius had weird sleeping habits..? Everyone did things a little bit odd.

Hmm. Zhiyue Xi, for the first time as a totally normal cultivator, began to wonder why all the talented people were so peculiar. Perhaps they had some kind of mental disability? She paused her stride as she saw a peculiar blue snake squiggle past her.

Hey, doesn't that little snake look kind of like that Eastern Wind dragon from that one myth? Hmm... Nope. Must be a coincidence. Maybe it's an invasive species or something? She thought about following the snake to stamp it.

As a totally average cultivator, she wasn't particularly superstitious. However, in a world like this, you could never be sure! Though, as a totally normal cultivator, she wouldn't have the fortune of coming across a figure like that one dragon from the myths.

Suddenly, a black and white panel came across her vision.

What the f*ck was going on today!?

----------------------------------------

I felt my heart chill as I stared into the light green eyes of a woman who was probably twice my body's age. I was too late! I felt heat rush to my face as she slammed the door closed, scrambling to my feet as I heard her scurry away.

"Hey! Wait!" I groaned as I looked down at where my body had been laying before. A puddle of drool was on the floor next to where my mouth had been. God damn it. I paused.

Me damn it? I shrugged as I felt the embarrassment fade. Surely there wouldn't be too many issues that came from that... I opened the door, looking down to see Qinglong already wiggling up my leg. I suppressed a shiver.

This guy, he really could be a little bit of a creep. Couldn't he just float up to my arm or something..?

I gave a stretch as I yawned. This body had just slept for nearly a month and it was still sleepy?

"Hey, check your system Ming Yun." The hot breath of Qinglong seemed to attack my neck. This dragon was... perhaps he was had some mental issues. Could system-created companions have those?

I tilted my head slightly to look at him, and shrugged. Who knows. It's a possibility.

I opened my system, dumbfounded as I looked at a few notifications on the black and white screen.

"Qinglong, when did you have the time to do this?" I queried.

He didn't bother to give a response, just slithering across my body and resting in my sleeve. If I concentrated, I could hear him snore. I sighed as I continued reading through panels.

I really hated doing this. I'd just finished it for the Worldkeeper system, and now I have to deal with Ming Yun's system too.
