Chapter 34

[Player Association]

Ethan and his team left the gloomy confines of Griffin and headed to the Player Association, a towering building decorated with emblems that symbolized unity and cooperation among players. The atmosphere inside was more lively and orderly, as people bustled around with purpose and enthusiasm.

"Welcome sir. How can I assist you?" the receptionist greeted them with a warm and friendly smile.

"We're here to find out more about the text and symbols from dungeons like this," Ethan said, showing the rolled scroll to the receptionist.

The receptionist gasped and leaned forward, her eyes scanning the scroll eagerly. "Oh, those text and symbols! We do have records and a library of dungeon manuscripts. But I'm afraid it's not open to outsiders."

"It's okay, let them in." A voice said from behind them. Ethan and his team turned around and saw a senior employee who recognized Lucien and Ethan. He nodded at them with a smile.

"...Okay sir." The receptionist agreed. She was about to call someone to guide them but was interrupted by another voice.

"I'll guide them. There's no need to call anyone." A man in a crisp black suit and a silver tie said. He walked towards them with a graceful stride and a calm and confident smile.

"Sir, good morning." Both the receptionist and the employee said, showing respect and admiration.

"Good morning. Now if you both don't mind, shall I take them?" He asked politely.

"Sure sir." They both nodded, agreeing.

"Please follow me." He said to Ethan's team and Lucien. He gestured them to follow him with a wave of his hand.

Lucien's eyes widened as he saw the man's face. He knew him well. He was Andrew, the assistant of the association president and the disciple of strongest swordsman. He was famed for his unrivaled skills and achievements in the world.

Andrew guided them to a section dedicated to historical texts and scrolls. The room was overflowing with shelves that reached the ceiling, filled with ancient books and scrolls. The air was heavy with dust and the scent of old paper.

Ethan's team scanned the ancient documents with awe and curiosity. They wondered what secrets and mysteries lay hidden in these old writings. They hoped to find some clues or hints about the symbols and text they had encountered in the orc temple and the scroll.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"How is Commander Gorgon?" Andrew approached Lucien, his voice respectful and friendly. He greeted Lucien with a smile and a handshake.

"He is fine. What about you?" Lucien asked, his voice casual and polite.

"Just as always dealing with players and other guilds." Andrew complained, his voice weary and annoyed.

"Good. At least I am lucky." Lucien said, his voice sarcastic and humorous.

"Yeah. Anyways, Phoenix's young master has collected good teammates." Andrew said, his voice impressed and curious. He looked at Ethan and his companions, who were examining the scroll and the statue, showing his interest and wonder at their abilities and personalities.

Ethan skimmed through one book after another, looking for anything that might pique his interest. He saw various symbols and text that seemed to convey similar meanings. In one of the books, he saw a creature that stood tall and majestic, with wings and horns. Several people were worshipping him, kneeling before him. He wondered if it was a god or a demon.

Meanwhile, Emily was drawn to a book that had a similar cover to the scroll. She opened it gently and saw that it contained some diagrams and symbols that were barely legible. She attempted to decipher them, hoping to find some meaning or connection.

Mike was fascinated by a tablet that had some carvings of people using magic. He was captivated by the sight, as he had always been intrigued by ancient magic. He wanted to know more about how they performed it, what kind of spells they used, and what effects they had. He picked up the tablet and examined it closely, trying to make sense of the symbols.

Meanwhile, the mischievous trio of Mia, Dagger, and Leo were also browsing through some scrolls, but they were not really interested. They grabbed the same scroll and started tugging it.

"Let it go." Mia said, pulling the scroll towards her.

"No, you let go." Leo said, yanking the scroll from her.

Dagger joined the fray, trying to snatch the scroll from both of them. "Give it to me."

They all pulled harder, refusing to let go. The scroll ripped apart with a loud tear and the three of them lost their balance. They fell to the ground, knocking over some dusty books along the way.

"What did you do?" Ethan shouted, hearing the noise.

"No, it was your fault." Leo blamed Dagger.

"How was it my fault?" Dagger defended himself.

Mia tried to sneak away, but Emily caught her. "Where do you think you're going?"

This commotion drew the attention of the others and when they all came there they quickly grasped the situation.

"What were you all doing?" Emily asked furiously.

"We are sorry. We will fix it quickly." Mia said, picking up the torn pieces of the scroll.

They all started to pick up the things, but Andrew stopped them. He looked at the torn pieces with a serious expression.

"Stop." He said in a commanding voice.

"What happened? Did you notice anything?" Lucien asked, walking towards him.

Andrew nodded, pointing at the seemingly random arrangement of the torn segments. Surprisingly, the torn pieces fit together, creating a faint continuity in the symbols and text across the fragments.

"Yes. There is something written here. I think I can decipher it." He said, leaning closer. He squinted his eyes and traced his fingers over the faded and cryptic symbols.

"Can you tell us?" Ethan asked, curious.

Andrew cleared his throat and read the ominous message aloud.

"When the moon bleeds red and the altar glows,

The ancient evil stirs from its long repose.

With its wrath, it will unleash its might,

And bring the world to chaos and endless night."

"Who is the ancient evil here?" Emily asked, her voice tense and anxious.

"I don't know." Andrew replied, shaking his head.

"Do you have any idea Lucien?" Ethan turned to Lucien, his voice hopeful and expectant.

Lucien frowned, thinking hard. "Maybe." He said, his voice cautious and uncertain.

"Okay. Tell me." Ethan urged him, his voice eager and impatient.

Lucien hesitated, then said. "It could refer to the blood demon that the demon guild worships or to the demon that the orcs worship or both." He said, his voice low and grave.

"Say it clearly." Ethan pressed him, his voice stern and demanding.

Lucien opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He tried again, but the same thing happened. He realized that the name was blocked by some unknown force.

He took a pencil and wrote down the name on a piece of paper. He showed it to Ethan, hoping that he could read it and understand it.

Ethan saw the letters that formed the word Abbys. He felt a surge of familiarity and anger. He wondered what this name meant and what it had to do with him.
