Author's Note

I've made the difficult decision to officially go on hiatus with Witness until I have a sufficient backlog to consistently post once a week. I've resisted this, but I don't think it's fair for you as readers or for the story for me to post so inconsistently. I hope this hiatus will end by November, but I have an impossible schedule going on from now until December and so I cannot promise that. I want to make sure I can honor the commitment I make. So I will start posting once a week by the first week of January. Again, if I can post sooner, I will, but not until I have a backlog I feel comfortable with.

To be honest, I did not want to go on hiatus because I have been loving this series so much. I just kept thinking any week I'd have the time, inspiration, and mental energy to really dive into book 2. But I have so much planned for this book and I've come to realize that I need to give it time to grow. The scope of the book requires that I spend more time workshopping it. I also am doing graduate school and am in my most time-consuming semester. Between teaching middle school, trying to finish up grad school, and starting my internship this semester, I'm writing more slowly than I normally do.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Book 2 of Witness has really been coming to life in my mind these last few weeks. So I know that I'll hit a stride with it soon.

I appreciate everyone's patience. It means so much to me for you to follow Rory's journey and I'm looking forward to once again being able to post regularly.

While I have you here, I'm going to post a survey as well. I've been thinking about publishing one of my older series here on Royal Road next year. My hesitance is that I don't feel like it fits in that well on Royal Road. It's a dystopian military science fiction and while it has plenty of action, it's really not progression. It has similarities to Witness in the political undertones, but I feel like it's a bit heavier than Witness, or perhaps more bleak. I love the series, but thought it may be better suited for going straight to Kindle. At the same time, if my readers are interested in seeing it here on Royal Road, I definitely would consider that. It's called Seasons of War and it follows a dying uprising against a ruthless emperor and his protege, who is secretly fighting for the rebels from within the regime.
