Chapter 77: The Gifted One

Chapter 77: The Gifted One

After he lost consciousness, his whole body began to turn from lightning to ash. In a blink, Armad turned to ashes. The ashes dissolved in the thick water before they were discarded and returned to the prison. If you saw how the ashes were thrown back to the prison then you would find even ash wasn't allowed to leave the prison. Whatever went inside would remain inside.

But soon the power in Armad came back to life and the ash caught fire. From the fire, lightning arose and turned into Armad in his lightning form. The lightning turned into flesh and blood that was Armad.

He remained in the pool of his blood for five days. On the sixth day, two men dressed in camel's skin arrived at the place. They rode big horses and carried flashy swords like real soldiers of a country.

One of them kicked Armad in the leg to make sure he was alive. Then when they saw him moved, they tied him to their horse and took him back to where ever they came from.

Armad didn't know what happened and he didn't know how many days he had been unconscious. When he woke up next, he found himself in a small tent, alone. He remembered passing through the wall and a question suddenly arose in his mind. Was he out of the prison? At least, he wasn't in chains which was an improvement from the last time he was caught.

He was currently in bed and could hear the muffled voices of people outside. One way to find the answer to his question was to go outside and ask. So he opened the door and pushed himself outside. There was no guard on the door which was... unexpected.

There were more than fifty such tents all around. From the far left was the waterfall, which spoke of a possibility that he didn't succeed in breaking out of the prison. Just in front of the wall, there was an iron bridge built so high that its upper end hid in the clouds.

There were people around him but not many of them. And nobody cared about him. Everyone was just focused on doing something.

Armad stopped a man wearing an old robe. "Hey, er... what is this place?"

The man frowned. "You don't even know where you are. Haha... You must be the fool who tried to break out through the wall, huh?" The man harrumphed and went on without answering Armad's question.

Armad sighed as he reached to pull the man back and 'asked' him again. But he heard a voice by his side. "You're in the headquarters of the rebellion led by the gifted one."

Armad turned his head to the side toward the voice. A young southern man with long white hair and an accent he couldn't place stared at. "The headquarters of the rebellion led by the gifted one? What rebellion? Who is the gifted one?"

The young man caressed his long hair and smiled. "As you know, the lot of us prisoners are divided into three groups. We might have had our differences a year ago but now we're united. We attributed our unity to the gifted one and now more than 60 percent of the prison population obey him. No one knows who he is or how he came to be here but he has already been appointed as a king by the public. My name is Indimi Iyka Citta Sailari Abati. I brought you here. Welcome to the rebellion." The man concluded his explanation by offering Armad a handshake.

There were many things Armad didn't understand so he remained silent as he thought about his next question. He didn't even have time to care about the unusually long name of the white-haired man. When the young man saw his blank expression he shrugged. "You must be wondering about how we found you, right? Well, when you barge into the wall you activated the force fields. The entire wall glowed, signifying someone trying to run away. Teams of two people went around to find out about it. That's how I and my partner found you."

Armad nodded. "Thank you for saving me. I have a lot of questions, but... which one is your name among the five?"

The young man smiled. "My name is Indimi Iyka Citta Sailari Abati. Don't worry about it, you will get them eventually."

Armad took a deep breath before shaking his head. "But what is the purpose of your leader, the gifted one? And can I leave if I want to?"

The young man with the long name nodded. "Yes, you can go if you want to but you may want to wait for one more day if you want to see the gifted one. He's coming here today."

Armad paused to think before finally nodding. He wasn't sure what was going on or if his body was completely healed. Did Babara know about this... gifted one? Just what was going on? How big was the prison?

The young man interrupted his musings. "Come and see his painting before he comes. He's extraordinary."

Armad followed him to a tent five huts away. Six people there stared at a large piece of art hanging on the wall.

As they moved closer, Armad could pick what they were saying.

"He's a genius."

"Yes, he is. I saw him once and he looks just like this."

The others nodded.

"He's the hero who will change the world."

"The hero everyone has been waiting for."

As Armad heard these words, he became more determined to see the gifted one with his eyes. But when he arrived and saw the picture, he couldn't help but frown.

The person in the painting was none other than Ikenga O. Bayajidda. The same person he fought in the jinzidal tournament.

Armad turned around in utter amazement and confusion. He looked at the young man with the long name. "Is this the gifted one?"

The young man nodded. "Yes, he is. Have you ever had the opportunity of seeing him?"
