Chapter 108: Spoon's Hidden Power

Chapter 108: Spoon's Hidden Power

At the same time the captains burst into laughter after hearing Armad's statement, Spoon and Inara were surrounded by an army of over 3,000 men.

Instead of drawing a sword, Spoon pulled out a pen and a book from his bag of holding. The pen was made from dry bones and the book was made from leaves and looked completely green.

He opened the book and wrote, 'DEMONIC-LION-THOUSAND' in reverse. Then, with his pen, he carefully traced the lines of runes that had just appeared around the text. Once he was done, he left the book and the pen suspended in the air and took a step back. He then clapped his hands in a gesture and closes his eyes, causing the power of his pol to surge forward and enter the book.

Inara blocked a spear aimed at the still-standing Spoon. A dozen soldiers seized the opportunity to jump on him. He slashed his sword and struck the three people closest to him. He then ducked a spear from the right and let it impale another soldier attacking from the left. After escaping the trap, he rolled back on the ground to Spoon and protected him from a volley of arrows. He didn't know what Spoon was doing but whatever it was, he would better hurry because soon it would be too late.

On the other hand, Spoon remained calm and kept pushing all his pol into the leaf book.

Inara blocked seven more spears and arrows that were aimed at the man and decided that was it. "Will you hurry up, please, senior?"

The boy was surrounded by about a hundred people, some of whom could not even see his robe. If this continued, they would soon finish him off. Then there would be no one to protect Spoon.

Amid his despair, the boy saw a glint of white light emerge from the book floating in front of Spoon, and then Spoon opened his eyes with a smile. The white light formed into a huge ball before it split into countless smaller parts, each part starting to take the shape of a beast.

Slowly, each ball of light expanded and then materialized into an actual demonic beast. Looking at it closely, it was a demonic lion that belonged to the horned species. One thousand of these demonic lions were summoned in less than a minute. Spoon smiled despite breathing heavily and sweating profusely. He proudly said, "First Writers Bend!"

For a moment, the battlefield fell silent. Inara stared in amazement. People in Mikironomada learned to use the First Writer's Bend from the pol academies in the country, but certainly not up to this capacity. A single summoning or two would be the highest, and even that would require exceptional talent. Only the royal knights could summon tens or even hundreds of beasts through this way. A thousand summonings would be beyond even a Knight's capacity. Was Spoon part of the royal family in Mikironomada? No, the man used to be a street child whose parents were sold to slavery - just like Ilias.

But... weren't these two a little too amazing? One could turn into a bird and the other had mastered the First Writer's Bend and could summon a thousand demonic beasts. One was well-suited for assassination missions and the other was a moving army. How could they become so powerful? Did that mean even a nobody like Inara could succeed and grow beyond just sailing a ship? Inara clenched his fist and gritted his teeth.

But it wasn't just him, the new lions had attracted everyone's attention on the battlefield. The soldiers attacking them stumbled to a halt. Even Armad and the four captains in front of him turned to look.

The lions roared and pounced on the jinzidal army. A new battle ensued. All you could hear was the screams of dying men. As for Spoon the summoner, he moved to the side and took out the leftovers from his bag, and began to eat.

Armad just smiled and turned to the captains in front of him. "When are you going to arrest me? Have you given up on the bounty already?" He gently raised his sword as he spoke.

The captains moved into a formation and put him at the center, each drawing his sword. Having seen how powerful his companions were, none of them was willing to take him lightly anymore.

Armad, too, wasn't someone who played with his prey. He always fought with everything he had got. Just like now when he drew his sword and called two powerful Bends before the fight even started.

Each captain felt invincible. They'd first been trained for decades and then carefully selected to become captains. Surely they could defeat a single man with just a thousand years of pol. One of them was even the famous bounty hunter, Azrael, who had claimed several heads worth millions in his early days. Armad would just add to his collection.

But just when they were closing in on the target, Armad disappeared right in front of their eyes. Two of them with sharp senses could remember seeing the boy turn into a flash of lightning. But the others saw nothing. It was simply too fast for them.

Armad reappeared at the entrance of the building. The four captains immediately locked on to his pol. They silently turned around and attacked him with renewed vigor. Armad just stood there and waited for them.

It had been long since he wanted to combine Photon Jump and Dance of Uncertainty. The Dance increased his speed so much so that a human body wouldn't be able to react in time, delaying the effects of its actions and causing confusion in the victim. Whereas the Jump was purely created for speed. So what would happen when these two were combined? What would happen when Armad Jumped while he was actively using the Dance? He hadn't been able to try it before due to pol restraint, but now he did.

Soon, the four captains stopped in their tracks as their hands shook violently. Their shoulders and arms suddenly burst into a pool of blood. Surprise and doubt appeared on their faces and threatened to consume their hearts. Their confusion turned to fear. Everyone asked themselves, when were they cut and how did they not realize it until now? Was Armad even human? They looked uncertain.

Meanwhile, a certain hawk had entered the building. Thanks to the missing roof and the commotion outside, only a few guards remained inside the building and even they were packing and leaving. Everything was working according to their plan. Once the hawk entered the building, it turned into a small ant that followed the cracks in the walls to enter the rooms in the building. Its only purpose was to find where information was stored.

The ant soon found itself in a storage room. After waiting for a whole minute, it transformed into Ilias who quickly opened the documents on the shelves. Many of the documents were historical articles about the people who had died in the past. There was nothing about the equatora.

After a while, Ilias transformed again and moved to the next room. When he was done with it and couldn't find any relevant information, he moved to the next room. In this same way, he moved from one room to another.

He once came so close to a guard stepping on him but he managed to dodge just in time by using pol to speed himself up. He'd been hesitant on using pol to avoid blowing his cover. Luckily, none of the guards around could sense pol. It would have been over for his stealth.

He entered the second to the last storage room. There were four guards at the entrance but he easily passed between their legs, and then beneath the door to enter the room.

There were two shelves in the room. One on the right side which was marked as equatora, and the other on the left side which was marked as wall prison.

Ilias transformed to his human form again and walked to the shelf marked as equatora. He was careful with his steps so as not to alert the guards standing behind the door. When he was sure of his stealth, he began looking through the documents.

An hour later, he found what he was looking for.

According to the papers, no one had entered the region known as equatora for the last seven hundred years except for one person. A woman named Nusi Kil'zanki. Ilias was taken by surprise. Who was this Nusi Kil'zanki? He knew only one Nusi and her name wasn't Kil'zanki. She was Nusi Djinn.

"So that's what you came looking for?" A voice coming from behind him said. "Yet you create such a diversion outside so you can work uninterrupted. Very common but effective tactics, I must say."

Ilias drew his sword and turned to face the hoarse voice. He saw a figure cloaked in black popping out of the wall.

"Is he Uznu?" Ilias felt his heart skip a beat.
