Chapter 22: Experiment

Chapter 22: Experiment

On the other side of the portal, a dirty laboratory/study greeted Luke. Luke guessed that this was where the Master spent most of his time. The Master spoke, "I need your help with an experiment due to your unique physique of a half-abyssal being." Luke wondered what the experiment could be, but that didn't last long as the Master told him right after, "The experiment I need your help with will benefit us both if it works. Due to your unique physique of being a half-abyssal being, only half of your being is attuned to abyssal energy, and the other half is attuned to no magical energy. Well, if my research is correct, then I can attribute that half of your being to origin energy, which is the opposite of abyssal energy originating from the harmony realm, which is the mortal enemy of the abyssal realm, but that's for later. In the process of attunement, the second half of you being an unknown variable could arise, which might fuck up the whole experiment and kill you. Are you still willing to help me?" Luke's desire for power was at an all-time high, growing ever since his hometown was destroyed. Luke almost shouted but contained his excitement from the power he could gain and said, "Of course!" The next moment, Luke's vision faded to black.

Once Luke opened his eyes, he noticed he was floating in the center of a ritual symbol. Freaking out, Luke tried to escape somehow, but in the next moment he heard the Master say, "Don't struggle; it will only make it harder for you." Starting the ritual, the Master siphoned out the origin energy in the storage container he prepared. The origin energy slowly started to flow to the ritual symbol and started to light it up. Once the symbol was fully lit up, Luke felt a burning sensation coming from the very depths of his soul, like his very being was crying out in pain. Luke knew that this pain must be coming from his half-abyssal side, with its mortal enemy being attuned to his other half. Over the next 5 days, Luke felt like he was dying, burning from the inside out. The pain was nothing compared to what he would gain, Luke thought, which was the only way he could keep going. Once the five days were over, the ritual looked to be a success and was completed, but Luke still wasn't let down.

The Master then started to cast a spell Luke had never heard before,

"cxv yuaterr'tjyu' cfteryu;ou, yu'tmuyu wserajcxva,

A pain like none other hit Luke; his whole body felt like it was being stripped of its very identity. Luke screamed until his voice gave out and passed out. Waking up, Luke found himself back in the dark, with the beings surrounding the single light source. Luke saw the two beings from before—greed and gluttony—but he saw an extra one this time. This being was all red, with cracks in its skin glowing a dark red. It gave off an aura of wrath.image [blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/qItVPQK" data-context="false" >
