“Enough of all these… I can’t take it anymore.” Piper turned to Alina. “You say you are pregnant for Warrick?”

Alina nodded and said, “Yes I am.”

Warrick took Piper’s hand and he got on his knees, “Piper… please believe me… I have never had sex with Ali..”

“Shut up!!” Piper yelled at him and Alina looked down and smiled.

I shook my head. Piper don’t do this, you are making a mistake by trusting Alina’s words.

“I don’t want to hear anything you have to say… because I know the truth.” Piper voiced out loud and everyone was quiet, waiting to hear the truth Piper knew.

“Piper… you,” I tried to say, but Piper raised her hand and I stopped.

Piper closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. “Like I said, I know the truth, among these two involved one is telling the truth. and one is lying… and Warrick is the one telling the…”

She paused and locked eyes with Warrick, he swallowed as he

waited for her verdict. As if she was the one that could judge the case right.

“Warrick is telling the truth,” Piper said and immediately, Warrick’s eye bulged out in joy and he pulled her into a tight hug.

“We can not just listen to you Piper, investigations have to be made,” Dane said as he kept on looking at Warwick.

Why is he looking at Warrick? Warrick looked down as he felt intimidated by Dane’s intense gaze.

“Like sister, like brother,” Warrick mouthed.

Dane shook his head as he refused to laugh at Warrick’s joke, “If I find out you are lying, you will be dealt with… it is wrong for a man to cheat on his woman, even worse for a man to deny a pregnancy and to leave the burdens on the woman alone.

I clicked my tongue as I watched him speak. He is referring to the things he has done.

I had to carry the burden of our twins pregnancy, childbirth and even infancy by myself. And also isn’t he cheating on me with Kaida?

I shifted from him and sat on my seat as I crossed my hands. over my chest.

“We are not scared… let the investigations carry on, as long as I know for a fact that the pregnancy is not Warrick’s”

Dane nodded and sat down. “Fine then… Alina you can go.”

Alina turned and left and as I watched her leave I turned to Dane but quickly looked away.

He placed his hand on mine and he squeezed, “Are you still angry at me?”

I rolled my eyes as I replied, “Did you give me a reason not to?”

Dane sighed, he took my hand to his lips and pecked it, I pulled my hand away and wiped it up. “You can quit pretending now… no one is watching.”

I turned away from him and saw Evelyn’s eyes squinted at me. I blinked and dropped my gaze down.

We were done with the meeting and it was time for me to go to the office. As I came out of the council hall, Evelyn rushed up to

me.

“Your mood has been off all day… Do you need someone to talk to?”

I sighed and looked down, “Maybe in my office.”

Evelyn followed me quietly to my office and she shut the doors. and sat in front of me.

“I’m all ears,” she said looking serious as she placed elbows on the desk and her chin on her palm.

“It’s Dane,” I started.

She nodded, “Yes… Dane, what happened to him?”

“Have you noticed anything different about him so far?” I asked.

She nodded her head, as she relaxed back on the chair, “I sure have noticed something different about him.”

I leaned in as I tried to catch her points.

“Dane has been…” she started out softly, “he has been oddly sweet and romantic with you… he now has time for the kids and family too.”

I grunted, “Hmm… Is that it?”

Evelyn nodded, “Of course… what else is there to notice?”

I sighed as I raked my fingers through my hair, “Dane is cheating on me.”

Evelyn locked eyes with me and then suddenly she threw her head back as she burst into laughter. She rolled out of her chair and held her stomach as she laughed even more.

I furrowed my brows and rolled my eyes and I waited for her to be done with her laughter.

Soon she placed her hand on the desk and helped herself up, “Why aren’t you laughing?” she asked me.

I shrugged and then she raised her hand. “Wait… is this the part where you say it is a prank?”

I pursed my lips and kept looking at her with a straight face. She sat back down and furrowed her brows just like me.

“You were kidding right?”

I shook my head, “Nope.”

Evelyn looked away from me and stared into space for a while. “Are you sure of what you are saying?”

I shook my head and I said, “I don;t know what to be sure of anymore, all arrows are pointing in one direction… I just don’t know.”

Evelyn swallowed and took my hand on the table as she looked into my eyes, “Listen, Aurora, Dane never cheats… I know him

too well.”

My shoulders dropped, “Then how do you explain finding him in Kaida’s cell late at night, she was naked and she had her hands on his chest and he was holding onto it.”

Evelyn narrowed her eyes, “You saw that happen?”

I nodded at him, “Yes, I did…”

“Then we had an argument. I slapped him and he raised his hands to me and then he left and when I wanted to look for him,

I found out he went back to the dungeon. I got to the dungeon and Kaidan or him was nowhere to be found.”

“Kaida is not in her cell?” Evelyn asked in shock, “She escaped?” noveldrama

I shook my head, “The guards said Dane took her out… I don’t even know where he had taken her to… the next place I saw him was in the council hall.”

Evelyn shook her head firmly. “This can’t be true. Dane isn’t a cheater, and he’s certainly not someone who would ever harm a woman.”

“But that is what it seemed like today.”

“Aurora… is that what you think of me.”

I looked up to see Dane standing at the door looking at me with so much pain in his eyes.
