Chapter 140

"What's going on here?" Clara approached the scene, her brows knitting as she took in Billy's red, tear- streaked eyes. She crouched slightly to meet his gaze, her voice as gentle as possible. "Billy, let go of your classmate. Whatever it is, I'll help you handle it, okay?"

Billy glanced at her, then back at Harvey, before reluctantly releasing his grip.

"He took my stuff and won't give it back," Billy said through clenched teeth, his fists balled tightly as he glared at Harvey.

Clara's frown deepened as she turned to Harvey, saying, "Did you take something of his? If you did, return it now."

Harvey stiffened, his neck straightening in defiance, though he avoided meeting Clara's eyes. "I didn't take anything from him," he muttered.

"You're lying! Give it back!" Billy's voice cracked with frustration as tears welled up again. He lunged toward Harvey, trying to grab his things back.

Caught off guard, Harvey stumbled but quickly recovered, a flicker of malice flashing in his eyes. "It's just a pair of lousy gloves. Who even cares?" He sneered before throwing the gloves toward Billy.

Billy reached out instinctively to catch them, but as soon as the gloves were in his hands, he noticed that one end of a loose thread was still in Harvey's grasp.

Before he could react, Harvey gave the thread a hard tug, unraveling the knitted gloves right in front of

him.

Billy stared at the unraveling thread for a moment, frozen, before an anguished cry escaped his lips. "You ruined them! Who said you could touch them?"

He launched himself at Harvey, fists swinging wildly.noveldrama

The classroom filled with Billy's heartbroken shouts as the two boys began grappling, fists flying. Harvey hadn't expected such a strong reaction and froze for just a moment before retaliating. Being bigger and stronger, he quickly overpowered Billy, pinning him to the floor.

Clara had never dealt with a situation like this before. She rushed forward, trying to separate the two boys, but their teenage strength and heightened emotions made it impossible. Just as she struggled to pull them apart, one of them pushed her back into the chaos.

Clara stumbled, almost falling, but a hand caught her just in time.

"Are you okay, Ms. Salford?"

She turned to see Ethan steadying her. She quickly nodded, brushing herself off. "I'm fine."

Without wasting another second, Ethan stepped in. He said in a stern voice, "Stop it, both of you!"

With his help, they managed to pull the two boys apart-Ethan grabbing Harvey and Clara holding Billy.

Clara bent down to pick up the

remains of the gloves from the floor, shaking off the dust and carefully gathering the loose threads. Straightening up, she turned to the class with a stern look.

"The two of you, follow me to the office. Everyone else, stay here and keep reviewing. Tomorrow, I'll be testing your vocabulary."

The classroom went silent as Clara left with the two boys trailing behind her. Ethan glanced at Billy with a complicated expression before following them out.

The office was empty since the class wasn't over yet. Clara closed the door and turned to face the boys, her expression firm as her gaze swept over their bruised faces.

"Now, tell me. Why did you take something from your classmate?" she asked, looking directly at Harvey.

Harvey immediately tried to defend

himself. didn't take it! My hands

were cold, so I just borrowed it for a while. How was I supposed to know he'd get so worked up over some ratty old gloves?"

Clara's face hardened. "Borrowing means asking for permission first. You don't have the right to take something that doesn't belong to you, especially if you knew it was important to him. And destroying it on purpose? That's unacceptable."

Harvey scoffed, glancing away with a dismissive shrug. He didn't care. So what if he did it on purpose?

Billy had refused to let him copy his vocabulary during the last class-he deserved it.

Besides, it was just an old pair of gloves. He'd torn them apart for fun. How was he supposed to know Billy would lose his mind and lunge at him like a maniac?

"Apologize to Billy," Clara said firmly.
