(Eden's Pov)
Siblings?
One, a light and the other intense darkness.
They stared at each other, eye to eye without a flinching.
Before I could blink, the fight between Hades and the moon goddess exploded. The sudden shift in the air oozed of violence.
Hades struck a blow at the moon goddess which she evaded with a swift shift.
She attacked with a strike of her staff at him which he was also quick to avoid.
The skies slowly began to change colour, dark clouds closing over the fading blood moon. The darkness that threatened to follow was thick and intense.
Thunder rumbled and lightning struck in the farthest distance. The noise came with a raging wind that shook up the trees and grasses around.
My hair whipped around my face and I quickly brushed it back, eager to see the end of this.
Suddenly, the wind calmed, and another uproar began again, it was peace and storm, light and darkness as the atmosphere changed intermittently.
I still held Lily close to me as she whimpered in my arms. I knew she could feel the change in the atmosphere and it was affecting her greatly.
Worried about the infant, I placed her against my chest, her heartbeat against mine, it was surprisingly calm, almost as if she knew that in that moment all that I needed was a certain comfort that her steady heart beat offered.
I noticed that with every tension that rocked my body, Lily reacted to it. She wasn't scared of what was happening around her, she whimpered because she felt the tension in me.
She looked at me, her soft innocent eyes curiously watching me.
With a toothless smile, she reached out a hand to my hair and wrapped a strand around her finger which she tugged on.
Hades and the moon goddess fought furiously, their movements a blur of speed as they went head to head against each other.
I heard voices, at first, it was unclear. I couldn't hear what they said to each other. I listened well, and began to hear what they were saying, their voices hidden beneath the rage. The words hit me with a force as they continued.
"You never cease to be a disappointment." The moon goddess said angrily. "No matter how much the Supreme God tries to give you a chance, you never cease to ruin every one of it."
Hades sneered. "Father has never given me a chance. You have always been the golden child, child of the light, the one he favours." The bitterness in Hades' voice was great. "You got all of his love, his praises. There was nothing left for me."
The Moon goddess replied calmly. "It wasn't about who was better or about favour and Love. Father loved you, and you know it. All he wanted was a balance, something you refused to understand.
The storm raged the more, a whirlwind surrounded the gods as they were exchanged in their fight.
I wasn't sure I understood what they were talking about, but from what I could discern, Hades must have imagined that his father, who they referred to as the Supreme God who created it all, sidelined him in favour of his sister.
This has made him fester a bitterness for centuries and made him grow lonely as he felt unloved and unwanted.
"Then why did Father put you in charge and made you rule over his creations?" Hades bit out "doesn't that show who he loves more between us?"
"But you left." The moon goddess snapped.
"Only after he made you Queen. What was I supposed to do, hang around and worship you?" Hades clapped back.
"Is that why you want to destroy everything Father created?" She asked.
Hades laughed. "You will never have
a peaceful reign. I will always turn your people.against each other. Allit my took
takes is one person to benoveldrama
and it is over. And I have prepared something greater..." He paused. "Pison's daughter, Lily; Zion's second half and my chosen one
My heart paused.
That made no sense. Zion's second half? What did he mean by that?
Before I could process all of these, the moon goddess suddenly overpowered Hades and with a lightning bolt from her staff, she struck Hades down.
The blow was fatal, and Hades couldn't recover easily. The storm cleared, and the heavens opened to a bright light.
A voice boomed from the skies, filling the atmosphere and I felt a chill run up my spine.
The Supreme Father.
"Hades. You are no longer allowed in this realm. Leave, or I'll strip you of your powers and destroy you. Never return!"
A loud growl broke out as Hades swore bitterly. "I will be back, and you all will regret this!
A strong whirlwind blew, roughly whisking Hades away, his voice' nothing but a distant memory. And just like that, the heavens closed up.
I turned to the moon goddess who
was still suspended in the air. The bright light around her dimmed till I could see a clear view of hero ethereal beauty.
She smiled.
"He is gone. You have done well Eden." she said softly.
I felt great relief.
"What did he mean by Lily being Zion's second half?" I asked curiously.
The moon goddess calmly leaned in and touched my face. She placed a soft kiss on my forehead. I felt a
slight tingle.
"The future will unveil it... you've done well. Now rest my child."
With that, I fell into a deep sleep I couldn't control.
