But the tricorder itself is far more interesting. It has no screen or keyboard. It is as if I have developed a third eye that looks into a completely different direction or world. It is controlled - at least in this setting - by the gaze of that virtual eye.

I put it back into storage. The connection vanishes. I retrieve it into my backpack. The connection and the screen reappear. This is extremely useful. Provided that the tricorder itself will provide useful information.

This confirms that other races exist. Given what I have been told about the people whose agent I indirectly have become this is no surprise. And my rank is [Iron 0], not a simple number or a simple [Iron]. Iron must be referring to category 1. Can this thing tell me how I get to higher categories? I could presumably embezzle cores, but I do not know the ritual for using cores. I suppose that is a final control mechanism. I absolutely need to test whether I can use this connection when my backpack is on the wall hook and I am in bed.

But for now, back to detecting intrusions.
