After I exit the alley and enter the main road again I try to get some information as to where the inn is.
*bump*
“Hey watch it!”
*bump*
“Look where you’re going kid!”
*bump*
“Ah! I’m sorry! Wait what? I could’ve sworn I bumped into something”
I ran back into the alley.
‘Why are there so many people?! I can’t walk five steps without crashing into someone! And being too *sigh* small for them to notice me certainly doesn’t help.’
‘Hang on, if I can’t walk on the main road, then how about I just don’t?’
And thus I start climbing one of the walls in the alley and make my way to the rooftops, and since I don’t want to be put in jail for property damage I decide to only use phasing rather than Hunting Claws to make holes in the wall.
Unnoticed to me, when I had reached the top of the building, the green light that was signifying that I was using Phasing had spread across my arms and legs about a centimeter compared to when I started the climb.
When I get to the start roof I try to look around, however I can’t see anything on the side that the roof is in the way of, and looking behind me I only see the outer walls of the city
Feeling proud with myself for having skipped traffic I then try start walking up from the start of the roof and onto the ridge at the top so I can see better.
*slip*
‘Oh shit!’
*thud*
Only slide off of the roof as soon as I stand up from my crouched position.
‘*sigh*’
I sigh internally as I start climbing back up again, this time I don’t stand up as rashly as I did before, but instead I stay crouched down and think about what I should do.
*puff*
I try to snap my finger as I came up with a plan, yet it only creates a soft, dry sound.
‘I need to remember to use Hunting Claws next time I do that…’
Making a mental note due to my embarrassment, I then do what I had come up with.
I phase my foot a centimeter or so into the roof tiles and focus to make it so it doesn’t phase further down or to the sides.
‘This might work…’
I slowly start taking a few unsteady steps up the diagonal roof while carefully phasing my feet so I don’t slip again.
When I finally got to the top of the house I looked around and saw a big bell tower in the middle of the city, I start making my way towards it since I can’t see any other landmarks that stand out as much as it does.
While I’m making my way towards the end of the house that I’m on I start putting more speed in my steps as I become better at phasing my feet the right way.
By the time I reach the gap between this house and the next I’m already in full sprint while alternating which foot I use phasing on to make it easier to control (It was a very long house) , as I arrive at the end of the house I set down my right foot to prepare to jump to the next house.
However due to my how over excited I was I made a mistake, since I was preparing for a jump I had left my right foot on the ground longer than when I was sprinting and without thinking very much about it I stopped using Phasing on my right leg and instead on my left one.
While my right foot was still in the roof.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Luckily for me, rather than getting stuck in the roof like what you’d expect from a teleporter accident in star trek, my foot instead fly out of the roof, like when you force an inflated ball underwater and release it.
Spoiler: Credit where credit is due, this part was inspired by anime Tintin (Mirio Togata from the recent manga chapters of My Hero Academia, he also has rubberbanding pahse powers)

Now this would be good and all since it made me jump further, however since I wasn’t prepared for it my right leg was shot out in front of me, causing my body to spin in the air and land on my back on the other roof after having been forced to perform an impromptu backflip.
*slide*
*thud*
And since I got caught off-guard by all this I wasn’t prepared to phase into the roof, and thus I slid off of the roof and into an alley again.
‘God dammit!’
Did I mention how it took a lot less for me to feel things ever since I got sent here? Something about my old stuffed absorbing negative emotions.
Well now I felt pretty angry. Can you blame me? I did fall off of a three story house. Twice.
I look back out to the main road again, only to see that there’s somehow even more pedestrians now than before, so I reluctantly begin climbing the wall again.
After running and jumping/bouncing from house to house I eventually get to a place where there’s no more houses, it’s just a big empty (except for the people) plaza, and the giant bell tower is in the middle.
At this distance I can see that the bell tower is attached to a very wide two storied house, and there’s lots of clad in light armor and carrying weapons walking in and out of the building.
Not paying too much attention to all of this however, I instead look at the ground of the plaza to try and find a way to the bell tower.
Then I see a carriage being pulled by two horses on the main road draw closer to the plaza.
I hurriedly get down from the building by phasing my hand into it and letting it slide down.
When I reach the ground again I quickly run towards the main road just as the carriage comes by.
I run up to it and in underneath it, I then phase my hands, and later my feet, into the underside of it, making me hang there without having to use much effort.
Also I made sure to stick myself where I thought the seats might be, so that the passengers won’t see my claws coming out from the floorboards.
As my luck would have it, the carriage was actually going to the bell tower building, so when the carriage stops I quickly let go of it and run towards the building.
When I get to the building I go to the back of it, the side with the least people, and start climbing again.
Only to find that, when I pushed my claws into the wall, my entire arm up to my shoulder disappeared into to it.
*thud*
Since I wasn’t expecting that to happen I had used a bit too much force and ended up face planting into the building.
When I pulled out my arm again I could see that the green glow was going all the way up both my arms and ended somewhere that I couldn’t see properly due to being covered by my hair.
I start focusing a bit more and reduce the green glow so that it only covers my fingers again, and I then start climbing the tower.
‘Why is this thing so fucking tall?!’
I think to myself, apparently having been influenced a bit by Lizz.
After a lot of effort I eventually get to the top of the tower, letting me finally get a good look of the town.
The town is shaped like a giant square, with the main roads splitting it in… four… parts…
With a glow a blue hand reaches out from the book, on the hand there’s white letters that spell “Inventory” and it hands me the emblem I was given by Hannah.
(I hope y’all realize I plan to keep making the book better, I’ve been somewhat limiting Plush’s growth in order to make it so he doesn’t get to strong too fast, but I ain’t gonna hold back with the Book of Knowledge)
The emblem is split into four different parts, just like the city, and on the floor of the plaza I can now see a loosely compass-like shape with four arrows pointing off into different main streets, two of them are blue and point towards two streets next to each other, while the two arrows on the other side are red.
I hold the emblem by the chain attached to one of its corners and look at it.
It’s divided into four differently colored parts, the one the chain is attached to is yellow, the one on the right is red, on the left is blue and the bottom is brown.
Looking at the yellow part I can see a small X on the side that’s adjacent to the blue one, so I rotate myself and the emblem in such a way that the blue square is facing the side of the town with the two blue arrows and likewise for the red side.
Spoiler: For those having a hard time imagining what the emblem looks like:

MS Paint Master race!
I then face myself towards the road in between the blue and yellow quarters, slide down from the building and hop onto another carriage that’s going that way, this time I decide to ride the carriage to the inn rather than run across the roofs again.
Looking at the emblem I can see that the inn is very close to the town entrance and on the right, so I look to the side to try and find anything that looks like an inn.
After a short while I see a double door, with a big sign above that reads “Quartets’ Inn”, so I drop off of the carriage and walk towards the house, only to see…
That it’s the same fucking house that I first climbed when I got here!
