‘Err, the way you say it makes me sound like a madman, but yes, essentially.’
While the pickits were still sleeping I told Lizz about what I’d seen.
“Can confirm.”
Lizz and I look towards the other end of the end and see Charlie looking back towards us.
“It might take us a while to find the one you’re looking for specifically, but next time we go home I’ll talk to dad about it, it’s the least we can do when you’re helping us out, sides, you said we needed to do some quests before we can join the guild, right? Then we’ll just run past home a little while we’re out doing those.”
‘...Really… thank you…’
“Don’t worry about it.”
We get out of the bed and I look towards Baom and Diifan.
‘Huh…’
However rather than lay on opposite sides of the bed like me and Charlie, they were laying on the same side, hugging.
‘I guess in some ways this place is more advanced than earth…’
‘Err… yeah… By the way Charlie, when do you think those two are going to get up?’ I try to change the subject.
“It shouldn’t be too long, any particular reason?”
‘Usually there’s a lot of people in the guild after midday so it tends to be hard to get anything done then. Especially for people of our stature. Also I needed to talk with some people who I grouped with yesterday.’
“Well if they too long we can just wake them up when we need to.”
‘Alright, also you’re acting very differently from when we first met, has something happened?’
“No not really, I guess I was just a bit too excited since it was the first time I got to talk with a different outsider than the ones living in our house.”
*shuffle* *shuffle*
“Ah, they seem to be waking up.”
Looking over to the other bed I could see that indeed they were, and after a short while they had both crawled out of bed.
“Well since we’re all up, should we go to the guild?”
‘Yup, let’s go.’
“Wait, let me put on my armor first.” Says Diifan as he starts picking up his armor from underneath the bed.
‘Actually, would it be possible for you guys to go on your own? I kind of have my own route to the guild that I tend to take but it’s not really suited for anyone else.’
“It should be fine, this way we can explore a bit too, but it depends on how easy it actually is to get to the guild.” Answers Charlie.

‘Oh that’s easy, just turn right when you exit the inn and then simply walk forwards along the main road, eventually you’ll come across a giant plaza and in the center of the plaza is the guild.’
“Yeah that sounds simple enough, we’ll see you there.”
‘Later.’
After I say that I climb out the window and scale the wall, all the while the pickits stare at me in surprise.
Once I get on top of the roof a small blue strip of paper stretches out of my pouch.
Passive Skills
Brainless ->
Heartless ->
Gutless ->
Intangible Influence ->
‘What’s this?’ As I think this the paper strip goes back into the pouch and a new one comes out.
Intangible Influence
Due to being proficient enough in the Phasing skill to cover your entire body you have been given this ability.
This ability allows the user to spread the influence of the Phasing skill to objects the user is in contact with.
With practice the volume which can be turned intangible of other objects increases.
‘Huh. I guess this was how I made the bottom of the solidified stilts phase into the ground, but then why did the book decide to wait until now with showin me?’
‘Really? If so I’m not even mad, that’s impressive.’
The book then starts vibrating softly, very reminiscent of a cat purring.
‘Wait, hang on, I can use Phasing on my whole body it said? I’ve never even tried that!’
‘Yeah, maybe it is.’
At this point we get to the alley I usually climb down in and I decide to try something out, I cover my entire body in the green light and simply jump down from the roof.
*woosh*
As I’m falling I can hear the wind going past me and I see the ground quickly approaching and I prepare myself to have the Phasing skill slow me down, and then right as I hit the ground everything turns black.
‘Lizz?’
‘Did I black out?’
‘Yeah, I guess that explains it.’
I then cancel Phasing so that I go towards the surface, however only on one hand while I still keep it focused on the rest of my body and use it slow slow down my ascent, I don’t know how deep I am but I wouldn’t want to shoot out with enough speed to fly back to the roof.
After only a second has passed I can feel air on my hand and then climb out of the ground since I now know where I am.
‘Come to think of it, if I can slow myself down when I’m Phasing into an object, and since when I hid the three coins in my foot I could move them around freely as long as I kept the area around them intangible, could I also control myself not just to stop, but also to go when I’m phased into an object?’
To try this out I simply phase my claw into the ground and will it to move forwards, and move forwards it does.
*thud*
Though maybe a bit too quickly…
Now knowing that this is possible I start experimenting a bit, I phase my entire body except for my head into the ground and start trying to move myself, and according to Lizz who had left the book in order to watch from another angle it looked incredibly unsettling to see my head sliding across the ground.
I also tried a few other things as well, such as trying to swim by making my hands move less easily through the ground than the rest of my body and pushing them backwards, and this also worked, however it was much slower than when I moved by willing it.
After a while I decide that I’ve experimented enough.
Enough with myself that is, I still need to try out one thing with Intangible Influence.
I pick up a pebble that happened to be laying nearby, all the while having everything below my head submerged and moving my arms and legs as though I was in water out of habit.
I cover the pebble with green light and drag it under the surface, it goes just as smoothly as moving my arms, and then I hold the hand that has the pebble palm up and let go.
At first nothing happens, but after moving the hand downwards a bit a gap is created between the rock and my hand, making it so I’m no longer in contact with it which makes it stop phasing.
*woosh*
The rock then shoots out of the ground, just as fast as the first time I launched myself by mistake, and reaching almost as high as the roofs.
‘Wow, this could be a good weapon.’
I then get back out the ground, Lizz flies into the book through the pouch and I walk through a few alleys, eventually coming out onto the main road and turning right to see the plaza right in front of me.
