Chapter 43 - Handful of feathers for a handful of sleep.

-=Plush POV=-

Eventually Shiona calms down enough to stop screaming, however she still looks angry whenever she looks at the elves. I ask them more about the so called Fleecy, their plural name apparently also being just Fleecy

‘Thank god they weren’t called Fleecies at least…’

At first Fallis looks a bit confused but Lizz makes a ploy saying that I have amnesia.

“Oh, that’s got to be hard. Ehm… You know what? Sure. Most elves don’t really like outsiders, but sure, you did end up helping us. (Although the only reason we were in trouble to begin with was to help you…)” The last part was said in a whisper, almost quiet enough to not be heard at all.

All six of us head to the carriage, when we get there Shro (the beardless one) pulls out something from his pocket and seems to push something on it, the back of the carriage then opens by folding upwards, like a cat door, and we step inside.

Once inside Shro presses the devices again the door closes, making the inside of the carriage turn pitch black, however soon a lamp at the center of the roof of the carriage turns on.

The inside of the carriage had a single table at the center which was surrounded by chairs, the chair at the front was a swivel chair and behind it there was a large window.

Rosh sits down on the swivel chair and the other two sit on the sides of the table, we then follow their example, however there was only one more seat and since Shiona is the tallest of us she sits there while I and Lizz climb onto the table.

Only now does it strike me just how tall these elves are, even Shiona, the tallest one of us, is only half the size of them, making them on average about two meters.

Rosh then puts his hands behind his head and takes off his hair tie, his hair then expanding, eventually standing out like an afro, he then swivels on his chair, faces the window, and without touching anything the horses begin to pull the carriage.

“You said you wanted to know about the Fleecy, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, there’s really not a lot that i can tell you about them as a species that you probably haven’t already found out, hell, you probably know even more than us, we’ve never even seen one without its mask before, but what little I can tell you is just that they’re helpful little people that run around our villages and, well, help us. We don’t know where they live but a few times per day we just find them around the village helping us with stuff, and in return they get some food, then they just wander off. Like I said, we’ve no idea where they live but if you meet one of them you can probably ask.”

“Alright, but where's your village then?”

Suddenly she opens her eyes wide for a moment but then begins to think.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

“Ouh... I just remembered… Like I said, most elves don't like socializing with strangers, it's even to the point where they have completely forbidden outsiders from entering the village…” She says and hangs her head.

Rosh who was somehow steering the carriage then raises his voice.

“How about I take it up with my father-in-law?”

“You'd go that far!?” Exclaims Fallis.

“Uhm…” Shiona raises her hand.

“Ah, well, Rosh here is married to the village heads daughter, however village head himself doesn't like Rosh, in fact they can't be in the same room without him trying to make Rosh feel as uncomfortable and awkward as possible.”

“Don't worry about it, you guys did save my brother after all, that's worth just slightly more than having to deal with that old man.”

Shro and Fallis look at Rosh with admiration as he says that.

‘It sounds kind of… minor? I would’ve expected it to be something way worse with how they made it sound…’

Rosh then smiles at us, however due to his face being so skinny that we can see the shape of his cheek bones shadows were created across his face from the poor lighting and he just looked scary.

Rosh then speaks up again.

“It will take us a while to get back home so it’s probably best if you guys go wherever you were headed and we go separate ways. By the way, if I do get approval, where could we find you guys?”

“Well”- Responds Lizz before I have a chance to answer. “-currently we live in Eastern lake city, we’re on our way there now actually, and we shouldn’t have any reason to leave again anytime soon, so if you get it then come tell us there, we’re staying in an inn called the ‘Quartets´ inn’.”

“A-Okay, but Eastern lake city huh… That’s pretty far away as well, however we’re heading the same way until we get outside this country and that’s going to take at least a few days, maybe more, so how about traveling together until then?”

“Sounds good!” Says Shiona who had suddenly perked up, guess flying for so long took its toll on her after all.

“Shro, could you pull down some beds for them?”

“Beds?” I ask.

Shro nods to Rosh and walks to the now closed door, when he gets there he grabs a long metal bar going horizontally along the door and pulls it back, when he does a large net which was attached to the bar follows it, and once he secures it in a few holes in the wall it looks like a giant square hammock made of a net.

“There you go.” He says. “Us three are used to sleeping in chairs so you guys will probably be needing this bed more than us.”

Shiona sits on the edge of the net hammock and tests it, after she’s satisfied she then grabs me by the arm and pulls me up, I then find myself wrapped in her wings like a blanket.

“Hey!” Shouts Lizz as she tries to reach me, however after a while she stops making noise and I hear a small *plop* sound from outside, presumable from Lizz deciding Shiona was a good enough bed after all and all three of us then go to bed.

When I wake up I slowly crawl my way out of Shona’s wings, but only after I stick out my head do I realize how nice and toasty it was inside and return inside.

‘How the hell are the elves able to sleep in such cold temperatures!?’

I try to fall asleep again but just as I’m about to i hear a loud rumbling sound.

I stick my head back outside and come face to mask with a blushing Shiona.

“... Do you have any foo?”

“... Yeah.”

I crawl my way out of her wings and open the book, I then stretch my arm inside of it and pull out a large number of meat skewers.

‘At least this will be a quieter food than if we were to use a fork and knife on a plate.’

Shiona tries her best to eat however her wings weren’t meant to hold things so I end up having to help her eat with one hand while I savor the flavor of some meat skewers of my own with the other.

I swear this wasn’t what I planned for when I chose to take out the meat skewers, no sir.

After a few four or so skewers each she seems satisfied, however she seems to have eaten a bit too much as food coma starts kicking in, she puts back on her mask which she had previously moved a bit upwards to eat and then hugs me again before I’m even able to put away the sticks the meat was skewered on and she falls asleep instantly and starts breathing in a steady manner.
