Chapter: 6 "With New Friends brings New Frontiers, let's begin!!!"

Chapter 6.

And once more, we are alone. But hey, at least we got freedom, maybe I can meet some People, and make some Friends.

I’ve actually been meaning to test out that new Speech Skill IDM developed for us.

A~ctually… No. That one isn’t going to work without IDM.

Wha- What’s wrong?

That Skill is… Complicated. IDM is the only one of us that I think could even use it… You see, the way you use it is, you have to create Ripples in your Body with varying Frequencies.

Well that doesn’t sound too hard-

And then you have to do it like, a hundred times a second.

What in Satan’s spicy asshole is this Skill?!

Yes, neither of us could ever come close to creating something like this. I mean, it’s doable, but you would need the mind of a God to process it into Words.

I guess that means we’re not talking to anyone just yet, huh?

I would suppose so.

Hey, maybe we could get IDM to try and play Music with it!

Yeah, that would be nice. I’ll add the Skill to the list. Musical Ripple.

And with that, we give up on Vocal Ripple. It sucks that I can’t use it, but I’m sure I’ll be fine. And besides, I bet I could still use it for Morse Code. Not that I know Morse Code, I’d probably need IDM for that too. How does he figure this stuff out anyways?

As I float down the River I notice some Fish, they’re not like the ones from the Research Facility, nowhere near as smart. I guess that’s how they kept all of the different Species there, by enhancing their Intellect. At least, it would explain how the larger ones weren't eating the smaller ones…

I float over to the Fishes, they don’t look like any of the Fish from the Facility, I guess they didn’t want any of these guys. I surround one of them with my Body, it doesn’t seem to realize I’m not normal Water. Welp, time to eat. I crush the Fish with my overwhelming pressurization Skill. It dies then disappears.

His buddies noticed what happened to him, and scattered. I tried to chase after them, but they ran away, they somehow saw me coming. I get an idea, and I flow my Mana through the Water, and surround one of the Fish. Once I lock my Mana into the Water, I crush the Fish and eat it too.

What would we even name this Skill?

I’m not sure, Mana Movement?

I guess?

I float over to one of the Fishes, and I notice a weird splodge in the Water. Wait, was that my old Body? They must have been noticing me from its colors. I watch as the Splodge disperses into the Water, while I consume one of the Fishes.

Now that I think about it, I guess that was my 3rd Body, and this one is my 4th. My 2nd Body was that Mana one, it was neat, and I could change my Consistency. This one matches the Color of this Water, so it’s great for hunting here.

I guess moving our Mana around was how my Species hunted, if they were forced into different Areas.

Anyways, as I finish the last Fish, I notice some smoke slowly rising into the Air and beaconing the position of a Camp. It’s pretty close to the River too, I could float over there too. Not that it would do me much good, I can’t speak, and I’m not strong enough to move on land. I guess if they had a Container for me, but I don’t know how I would convince them.

Well, what if IDM wakes up the moment we get there?

Oh yeah, and I guess it doesn’t hurt to go there anyways.

Yeah, and if IDM doesn’t wake up, we can try and develop some Skills ourselves.

I move down the River until I have the Camp in sight, and I notice 3 People sitting together, they’re Adults. Alright, I know I wasn’t even 18 in my previous life, but I don’t think any of my Siblings were above 12. So yeah, it’s nice to see People my Mental Age.

I don’t know, you’ve honestly always been pretty immature-

You wanna’ fookin’ start ya’ daft bitch?!

Alright, alright, just try and see if you can get those guys to notice you. Maybe take in some of the water and fire it at them.

Oh yeah, good idea.

I start gathering Water into my Body, and I blast it out, firing a Stream of it out of the River. One of the Campers takes notice, and walks over, he’s wearing your everyday Fantasy Adventurer Stuff. You’ve got your Belt, Leather Vest, a nice Shirt, some a small bit of Armor for his Shoulder. You know how it is.

He inspects the River, and I fire some Water at his Face.

He wildly swings his sword around, until a Woman walks up and calms him down. Mr. Swingy Sword stops with the angry flailing and lowers his Arms.

I create a Fountain of Water using my Compression Skill and the Woman sits down to look at it.

“Oh my, Gabdin, what a lovely little fountain you’ve found…” She’s wearing a Purple Cloak, She looks like a Mage. “O-Oh yeah, I guess I did, Aribelle, haha!” Aribelle’s expression is super relaxed, and She keeps her eyes closed, with a nice Smile. “I don’t see any Mechonica down there, or Creatures, or really anything.” Gabdin looks at me too, and rubs his Chin. “Have you tried your Mana Sense, or one of your tracking Skills?” Aribelle lightly knocks herself on the head, and giggles. “Oh, silly me, I forgot. Now let’s see.” Aribelle’s Eyes glow in different colors until She settles on a rainbow one that mimics the colors of Mana. “Oh my~... There’s some sort of Living Mass of Mana in the water… Could you go get me a Bowl Gabdin?” Gabdin nods and runs off, while Aribelle continues to watch me. I stop the Fountain, and Aribelle gets curious again. Well, She could be sad actually, it’s pretty hard to tell when She’s sad or Curious. She’s a Brunette, and now that I look closely, she seems to have another White Dress under her Purple Cloak.

Gabdin runs back with a Large Ceramic Bowl with some drawings on it. Gabdin hands the Bowl over to Aribelle, and she places it into The Water. “So what is this thing anyways?” Gabdin says, as he watches me flow into the Bowl. Aribelle lifts the Bowl out of the water, and holds me up. “I’m not sure, I’ve never seen a creature like this one. Maybe it’s a species of Golem?” Gabdin and Aribelle take me back to their Camp, and their other Member wakes up, and looks at us.

Hey, guys, I just woke up.

Hello, IDM.

Hey dude!

It’s a good thing you woke up, we just met some new People, we want you to use that Vocal Ripple Skill you made.

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Oh, I see, yeah, sorry I couldn’t come up with anything better, it would have taken too long to develop enough Magic Skills to use Telepathy, and it would have cost too much of our dwindling Mana. Thank god you guys had gathered that Wellspring of it, we probably would have died from just using it.

Right, we got it from Flare actually, She shared a bunch of Mana with us when we were experimenting with different bodies of Water.

I see, well, using that Skill requires me to activate our IDM, you see, I’m actually about as smart as you guys, it’s just, I’ve got the patience to use our IDM.

So it’ll cost too much to actually speak anyways. What do you suppose we do?

I guess a good idea would be to make sure if these guys work for Arigold or not, if you like, I can make clicks for you, and try to communicate to them through Morse Code.

No, I doubt they ever developed Morse Code, and even if they did, these guys probably never took the time to learn it.

That’s too bad, I guess we’ll just stay silent for now, and wait for them to bring us to a Kingdom.

That’s a good idea, the further away from Arigold we get, the safer.

On another note, I’ve actually come up with a new name for myself, I felt like it would get too confusing naming myself after our Skill. What do you think of: “Mr. Fear.”

Why Fear?

Well, I was born from your overwhelming fear of Arigold.

I guess it fits. Let’s move on.

Aribelle brings me closer to the Girl, who I just now realize is actually part Squirrel it seems. “Oh, hey.. What’cha got there Aribelle?” Aribelle holds me up. “Good morning Miraha, I found this neat creature, I’m thinking it’s some sort of species of Golem.” Aribelle lowers me to the Ground, and Miraha looks at me. “So what, it’s some sort of Living Water?” Miraha pulls a bit of Meat out of a Pouch on Her Belt and tosses it into my Bowl.

Before the Meat lands on me I move my mana out of the way, and I lock my mana in the water again when it has settled. I break down the Meat and eat it. “Golems don’t usually eat, do they? You usually just have to refill their Mana Reserves.” Aribelle continues to stare at me. “Actually, they can repair and refuel themselves with the material they are made from. I’ve never seen one eat meat before though.” Gabdin sits down and finally speaks up. “So it’s not a Golem?”

Miraha and Aribelle look over at Gabdin, once again remembering he exists. “Oh yes, I guess it isn’t…” Aribelle says as She looks back at me. Miraha sits on the Ground next to me, her Squirrel Tail waving around in the air as she starts up again. “So, should we take it Home with us? We might get a bigger reward for bringing an Undocumented Species. We WERE just here to kill some Boars anyways.” Gabdin and Aribelle nod. “Sounds like a good idea Miraha.” Gabdin says as he stands, and Aribelle picks me up. “Shall we get going then?”

Miraha stands up and stares at Aribelle and her eyebrow quirks. “Isn’t it a bit late to be going? It’s still the middle of the night.” Aribelle giggles, and continues. “It should be fine, it’s a Full Moon after all.” Everyone looks at the Moon, and I only now realize that there’s actually 3 up there. The Larger Moon is a bright blue while 2 smaller ones are a bright yellow, and a deep purple. As I look more, there seems to be some sort of Rope connecting them to the primary Moon. It’s pretty amazing to look at it actually, with my VERY basic knowledge of Astronomy.

After everyone finished packing up, they started walking home.

Well, isn’t that interesting.

It is, I wonder how they don’t fall into each other.

They look like they’re turning actually, maybe they’re like that from the Spinning?

I mean, maybe? Wouldn't that have to be super fast, and would that like, tear the Planet apart?

Maybe, and I doubt anyone has enough Mana to keep them together.

Maybe it’s a Machine?

Maybe?

We’re getting sidetracked.

What else would we talk about? The specific pattern of steps our newfound Caretakers are subconsciously using? I doubt they’ve ever even thought about it.

Alright, alright, I’m sorry

Well, I guess we could try to develop more Skills.

There’s a good idea. If we could get our hands on a supply of Food, I could turn our IDM on and start churning out Skills.

Wow, isn’t this Skill kind of overpowered?

For us, yeah, it would probably kill anyone else though. Our ability to turn food directly into Mana and Energy actually really gives us an advantage when using it. And since Mr. Fear-

That’s Me!

Yes, thank you buddy. But yeah, since Fear can turn it on at any point for us, we don’t even have to suffer it.

Wow. Yeah, that’s hella’ unfair.

Well, having millions of Skills won’t exactly boost our Stats. And we can’t even train our Body, since we don’t have muscles. Using Items won’t be easy either since it could really limit how we use our Body, and there’s only so many times they can double our Base Strength before it’s negligeable.

What increases our Strength anyways?

Energy I believe, tbh, we’re actually like, a mass of Energy when you think about it. We just have to build up our Energy, and we become Stronger. This doesn’t mean we’re perfect though, yeah it’s a whole lot simpler than a Human Body, but that’s just it, it doesn’t actually take much to kill a Puddle Kid. Just knock away enough of our Essence, and we’re done.

If we don’t keep a small portion of our Essence, then we could die. You see, we’ve got our usable Mana and Energy, that feeds our Essence. Yeah, it requires Energy just to keep living. So IDM is particularly dangerous for our Species, since we can’t just shut down all functions and survive until we can eat something.

Wow… We- We REALLY got lucky…

Yep.

Chamber… Why am I Puddle Kid again?

Didn’t you drown in your previous life?

What sick joke is this?!

As I discuss our situation, Miraha begins to slow down and get drowsy, until She falls asleep in the middle of walking. Aribelle wakes her up again. “Miraha, you need to activate your Gravity Magic Skill. Remember?” Miraha looks at her, and activates the Skill, muttering: “Oh, yeah, thanks Aribelle…” Gabdin runs in front of Miraha, she Clings onto his Back, falling asleep.

Oh my, Gravity Magic. Didn’t think we would meet someone with that so soon.

Wouldn’t Arigold have that, alongside a cornucopia of OTHER stupidly broken power?

Yeah, but I don’t want to think of him right now. So let’s like, exclude him from everything we can. Okay?

Alright then.

On another note, Miraha seems to really like sleeping.

Right, I guess she does. We should ask about that when we can talk.

Oh yeah, we should get more abilities so we can start talking. I don’t want to have to eat an entire elephant whenever I want to talk.

Yeah, that’s a good point… But where would we even begin?

Well, I have been working on one idea. If we could link our brain, wherever it is with theirs, and use another Skill that can translate Their and our Brainwaves and send them back and forth, then that should be it.

Alright, so we know the base Skills, now we just need to develop a Road Map.

IDM can let me develop a year worth of experience in one second, but even just for that one second, it’ll really eat our reserves. But, that WILL give me more than enough time to figure out the Skill Road Map if you like.

Wait, are you for real?!

IDM is so OP WOOHOO!

Now don’t get too excited guys, I can only DEVELOP the Road Map, you’ll still have to develop the Skills.

Oh…

I mean, I could develop them for you, but it could take me an Hour's worth of IDM Seconds to do the whole thing. This Skill we’re trying to develop is actually really complicated.

Right.

Anyways, before I create the Road Map, I think Chamber has something to admit to the rest of the Class.

What-

Alright, FINE. We failed a Quest, Charlotte.

Wait, what?!

We had a Quest to absorb the Mana from the next Person we touched, we got it a little while before Arigold invaded.

When stupid fuckin’ Lex tried to grab us while we were floating, he accidentally activated the Fail Condition…

Dammit all! Oh well, I guess you can’t win ‘em all…

You better get started then Mr. Fear.

Right away!

End of Chapter: 6 "With New Friends brings New Frontiers, LET’S BEGIN!!!"
