I’ve been awake for a while now, Chamber said I’m now a Pond Kid, my Stats have really been improving too, I’m level 100 now. I’ve also filled out my opening in the Ground, my unexpanded size is larger than even Calvin. Thinking about it, I used to be barely bigger than Mother’s Hand, now I’m like, 10 times her size... Puddle Kids grow quickly.
The Bison was really helpful in getting to level 100 again, especially since they’re actually still stronger than me. Sucks to be them since I have a Veytatasm, so I just get free cheeky levels. Don’t complain, I’m supposed to be an Apex Predator!
Anyways, Veloura came to me with Jobs and Roles that everyone can fit under. It’s super boring though, so I’ll just skip over it, doesn’t mean it isn’t super necessary though.
Steriya approaches me, something I’ve failed to mention is, she’s an Earth Elemental, specifically a Porcelain Elemental, she’s still made of different parts, like a Golem, and even has a Core. She said that Golems aren’t fully living creatures, they’re made using Mana Essence. “Hey, Demi, what’s the current plan?” She says, as I start connecting to her, and she sits down.
Demi - “Oh, huh, I haven’t really thought about that... I guess the most advanced Kingdom in the world would be a good place to go, I wanna’ get a Vehicle everyone can fit in.”
Steriya’s eyes widened with surprise. “That actually sounds really useful, if we could get some sort of Airship, or Mobile Island, we wouldn’t even have to worry about resting then!” Oh, I figured everyone has figured this out.
Demi - “Well, the main reason is, I can’t be leaving giant holes everywhere just because I need to rest, so having a safe place to rest at any given time would be really helpful. I was originally thinking of a massive Airship, but the Mobile Island you mentioned sounds even better.”
Steriya nods in agreement. “Yeah, Floating Islands can be varied, I believe there’s a few Islands that even support entire Nations. Mother used to give everyone Books to read, they depicted all kinds of Kingdoms, like the Kingdom of Gold we just escaped from. We really enjoyed reading with our Mother.” Steriya looks off into the distance. I never got the chance to get connected to Mother on the same level as everyone else, she’s been there all of their lives, so I can’t possibly imagine what it’s like losing her. I wonder how everyone’s doing back there...
Demi - “I just wish I could have gotten a chance to really get to know her, she sounds like she was really wonderful. But that’s already in the past, let’s move forward. How would we even get one of these Floating Islands? Where are they?”
Steriya just sits there and thinks to herself then shrugs. “I dunno’, the only thing anyone really knows is what’s been read to us, aside from all of that, we’ve got almost no idea what we’re really doing.” Steriya says, as she stares intently into my pond.
Demi - “Damn, I guess we’re going to need to actually retrieve information... But where would we even get it? Well, I guess you could teleport into a Library and grab some History Books, Geography Books, maybe a Map, and whatever else seems useful.”
Steriya’s gaze has decided that my Lake is the most mesmerizing thing in the world, as she continues. “Yeah... That sounds good, but who would I be taking with me?” That’s a good point, it would suck to start stealing stuff, so maybe someone who can Duplicate Objects, and somebody who can carry a lot of Items.
Demi - “Does anyone have an Item Duplication Ability? We should probably avoid doing bad things, we wouldn’t want anyone coming after us for god knows what. You should also get someone who can carry a ton of stuff.”
Steriya holds her chin with her fingers, you can hear the porcelain of her fingers brushing against her Chin. “I believe Sari has a skill like that… And Steinbelle should be able to help too.. I’ll go get them. So are we taking from a Library in The Golden Kingdom?”
Demi - “I see, I’ll call them over for you.”
“Oh, thanks Demi!” She says, as I search and connect to Sari and Steinbelle.
Demi - “Sari, Steinbell, we’ve got a task for!”
Stei - “Me and Sari, huh? What are we doing?”
Ster - “We’re gonna’ be duplicating a ton of Books from multiple Libraries in The Golden Kingdom, and then bring them back with us. We don’t really have that much information on this world, so it would be invaluable to us.”
Sari - “Sari will be sure to do her very best!”
Sari’s a little different… She likes to refer to herself in the Third Person, nobody can really explain why.
Demi - “Well, come on then!”
Steinbelle gets here first, just before Sari. Steinbelle is an Axolotl Demi-Human, and another one of our taller Siblings, he’s nearly 6 Feet! He’s closer however to his Axolotl Ancestry, in that his body has the Full Regeneration Abilities of an Axolotl, and his Skin looks less like Human Skin, and more like the skin of an Axolotl. He doesn’t really have any hair, it’s replaced by those Branchy Gill Things, he likes to keep them brushed back. Separating his Gills from his head is the same Triangle Tattoo all of the Demi-Humans have… Now that I think about it, I think the major majority of my Family is Demi-Humans. What’s going on in this world? Anyways, that doesn’t matter right now. Steinbelle likes to wear a White Trench Coat that extends a bit below his calves, his Pants are also white, he doesn’t like mixing colors very much.
Sari is a Sea Bunny Demi-Human. And she’s well... She takes a lot from her Sea Bunny Side, we don’t like talking about her gender... Moving on! She’s one of our younger siblings, and only stands at around 3 feet tall. Personality wise, she’s a fluffier Zoltin, just more insane. Sari has normal skin like Lex and Veloura, but her Hair is like the world’s softest Afro with the Sensors sticking out. She’s said she can actually see through them just as well as her eyes, sometimes she likes to challenge herself by being It in hide and seek, and not opening her eyes. Her Skin is white as snow, with minor blue pigments. She wears a White Onesie with colorful rings going down the sleeves and legs, fully encompasses them. The ends of the sleeves are open so she can still use her hands. She also wears a White Cloak of the same material, it has a Hood and a Cape that extends to her knees, she likes running around with her cape. The Hood has 2 openings for her sensors for whenever she wants to wear it. She still wears Shoes and the feet area on her onesie is also open. The Onesie doesn’t actually have any opening mechanism, Sari said she can actually just slip out of it.
Stein stares into my pond, and so does Sari, both instantly mesmerized by my awesomeness. “Sari finds it very hard to tell if you are alive, Demi.” Sari says, as she just stares into my motionless body.
Demi - “Hey, don’t you start with me Sari, I’m just born this way.”
Sari just looks away, as Steinbelle looks at Steriya. “Shall we be going then, Steriya?” Stein says, as he grabs her shoulder. Sari grabs Steriya’s other shoulder, and starts waving to everyone. Everyone waves back, as they teleport away.
They should be gone for a while, I wonder how everyone else is doing… Looking around, everyone’s just hanging out and talking, Tenztore and Calbdin’s playing cards with a few others. Vexalan is sleeping next to Lian… Dammit, still asleep. Is she avoiding talking to me or something?
A loud noise ripples through the air, as I turn around, it was a massive explosion that managed to not hit anyone. It’s Veyta and Glant clashing, Glant is looking pissed, and Veyta is exhausted, they must have clashed with two of their Chess Attacks. I connect to Lex who just so happened to be spectating.
Demi - “Hey, Lex, what attack did they use?”
Lexi - “Oh, Demi, hey, um... I think it might have been a ‘Rook Rifle’ and ‘Rook Guardian’? I saw Veyta move into a position, while Glant was charging some sort of Magic Bullet. Veyta slashed the Magic Bullet in half with a lightning fast strike, and it destroyed 2 of the Trees.”
Looking behind Veyta, there’s 2 decimated Trees. You can see how powerful the impact was, because the Stumps have been torn from the shockwave, while the actual Trees have fallen a considerable distance away.
I disconnect from Lex, and I watch as Veyta tries to hit Glant, but he just about barely dodges, and strikes his palm into her side. She’s sent flying but lands on her legs, and something switches in her.
Veyta turns to her side and her Tentacles extend from her back and start coiling around her Arms and Legs. Each of those Tentacles are even stronger than her Human Limbs, and they’re far longer and flexible. The Tentacles on her Arms wrap around The Blade, locking it in place, and she holds it against her hip, the blade facing away from Lex. It’s easy to tell it’s completely aggressive, and it’ll work great against Glant since he doesn’t have any defensive techniques, she was definitely going easy on him until now.
Glant recognizes the technique instantly and his eye widens, he almost looks afraid of it. He steps back, and his expression hardens. An Orb floats in front of Glant’s eye, and his Tentacles start to flow tons of Mana into it.
Veyta’s tentacles begin to glow and she closes her eye. Glant finishes charging the Orb, it’s glowing a deathly green, and he eats it. He pulls in his tentacles, and his mouth bloats. Everyone has already moved away from where Glant is aiming, beginning to fear the Attack he didn’t even notice he was aiming at them.
Everything has stopped, noises have ceased, and I can’t sense anything, it’s as though all of the life in the forest was petrified by their attacks.
Veyta’s eyes snap open, and she disappears!
“WRAGH” That’s all I could hear, it was an instant ear piercing screech, it sounded mechanical and synthetic, I didn’t even know a living creature could make that sound.
Glant’s attack left a path of devastation, nothing was left in front of it, thankfully everyone was able to get away in time. All that’s left is ash, brimstone, and some sort of Green… Chemical. Everyone stares at the path of destruction, and then back at Glant and Veyta. Glant has already landed on his chin, his pupil has disappeared, and a poisonous green smoke is flowing from the edges of his mouth like a cauldron.
Veyta’s attack had left a line that curved through the ground, and exited right into where Glant was standing. Veyta’s standing right behind Glant, her sword above her head, you can tell what kind of attack she did from the line in the dirt. Her pupil has also disappeared, she drops her sword, and falls on her side, covered in a dark aura.
Everyone looks back at the path of destruction, glowing a dim green light. Lex approaches it and tries to touch it, until his arm whips back, and he’s thrown into a cold sweat. “Holy shit... “ He’s got a look of death on his face, and he’s breathing heavily, as though he just escaped death. “Nobody goes near this! We have to find some way to safely remove it as soon as possible!”
A bright green light begins to completely cover Glant’s Body, and his eye fixes itself. His Tentacles retract from his Body, and begin to pick him up. Once on his Feet, Glant coughs up more of the Green Substance, and looks around. “What the hell is this stuff, Glant?!” Lex screams, as he stares at Glant. “Doom. It’s Doom in liquid form. Doom and Life are two opposing elements. The only way to get rid of Liquid Doom, is with the same amount of Life. Out of all of the elements you can create, Doom is the deadliest.” Everyone looks at Glant with a newfound fear. “Why would you need something like that?!” Lex says, as Glant walks over to Veyta, who has begun to wither. He pushes her onto her back, and holds her hand up.. “Don’t worry, I’m right here, I’ll always be with you...” A Beam of bright green light flows into Veyta’s Hand, and life returns to her body. The Liquid Doom falls off of her, and onto the ground, killing everything it touches.
Glant’s gaze is enough to make the Liquid Doom disappear. “Just a Drop of Doom could kill you, just like how a Drop of Life could save you. I’ll clean this up, if I left it like this, nothing would ever grow here again.” Glant looks really tired, but he’s still going.
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
A few of our Siblings pick up Veyta, and carry her to a better area to rest.
Lex runs over to Glant. “Are you okay man? Where did you get these powers?!” Glant’s eye looks at Lex, and he speaks up. “All 12 of my eyes were born with a specific Element or Ability. My Main Eye however, has 2. Life and Death Magic, Mother said I was never to use this Element, but well, now she’s gone, and this world is so much more dangerous than I could have ever imagined, I have to learn how to use it.” So even HE’S scared of his power, no wonder he doesn’t like to use it, it’s too dangerous. “I’m so sorry I used it, I risked the lives of so many of us, I'll try to control it better next time…” It might have reached a Kilometer, but everyone in that distance could feel the sudden sense of death, and they’re already approaching. Everyone was accounted for, and we watched as life began to grow back into the area behind Glant, he was really healing it. I connect to Lex.
Demi - “What the hell do we do? That ability is indisputably powerful… But it’s so unbelievably deadly…”
Lexi - “I’m not sure… You’re right though, it could be extremely useful. You go ahead and think about this some more, I’ll go inform everyone of what happened.”
I disconnect from Lex, and Steriya’s group appears right behind me. “We’re back, the mission was succ-” Steriya’s eyes widened with surprise at the path of death. Sari and Stein look over too when they notice something is wrong, and their eyes convey the same emotion. “Wh-What happened here?!” Steriya exclaims. “Sari is very scared!” Sari stands behind Stein, who can’t find the words. I connect to all 3 of them.
Demi - “This was Glant’s doing, he said it was doom Magic.”
“Wait, he already has Doom Magic?! I haven’t even managed to learn Space Magic yet!” Steriya exclaims, as she falls to her Knees, earning looks of confusion from everyone in the immediate vicinity.
Demi - “Well, I mean, he didn’t really learn it, he said his Eye came with it. By the way, what are you talking about?”
Steriya begins to stand. “Of course… Lucky ass Beholders… They’re born with magic abilities, so they don’t even have to learn it. But starting with an Element like Doom…” She quietly mutters to herself, then looks over at me. “His Primary Eye should have come with a second power. What was it?”
Demi - “He said it was Life, but seriously, what’s so amazing about these simple Elements?”
Steriya just stares at me, and sighs, placing her hand on her head. “Doom and Life are 2 of the 12 Primal Elements. These Elements were the first Elements ever discovered, their Magic was created thousands of years ago. The 12 Primal Elements are: Space Magic, Time Magic. Hope Magic, Rage Magic. Breath Magic, Blood Magic. Light Magic, Void Magic. Life Magic, Doom Magic. Heart Magic, Mind Magic. The Names are kind of old, so their meanings have changed a little, but they still govern their specific areas.”
Demi - “Wow, you really know a lot about these things.”
Steriya just sits down, and everyone walks over to listen in on this little History Lesson. “Of course I do, I’ve been trying to learn Space Magic my entire life… When I asked Mother what the most powerful Element was, she said it was Space Magic… And well, when I asked for the most powerful, I meant the BEST one… But Space is the Element with the greatest Energy Output. And now I’m already almost there, but it isn’t what I was asking for… Anyways, Mother said there are 12 People who used one of each Element, I believe Arigold was actually one of them, but I can’t remember which one he had…” Steriya says, as she thinks to herself.
“Oh, what DOES Space Magic look like by chance?” Everyone but Steriya looks over and finds that Vexalan and Lian have finally woken up. “Space Magic comes in many forms, it would be too hard to tell.” Vexalan thinks to herself, and asks another question. “Would it look something like… Okay, imagine if you were to like, strike the Air, and it fell apart like Glass, and you were to walk into it, and I don’t know, appear somewhere else?” Vexalan rattles off this ridiculously specific idea of what it would look like, and Steriya STILL hasn’t noticed it was her. “Well yeah, I guess a Space User might use it that way… But how would you even know-” Steriya turns around to look at who she’s talking to, and realizes it’s Vexalan. “Oh, Vexalan, Lian, you’re finally awake!” Lian looks away, and walks over to me. “You said we have things to discuss…” I connect to her, while listening to Vexalan and Steriya.
Demi - “Yes, just… After this.”
Vexalan speaks up once more. “Well, I once saw Arigold do something just like that, at the time, I couldn’t wrap my mind around what possible ability could have been letting him do that.” Steriya’s eyes widen once again, and she sits back down. “Of course it’s him, of course he’s the one with Space Magic…” Steriya groans as she places her head in her hands.
Demi - “If he has Space Magic… Then who’s got Time Magic?”
Steriya finally stops scraping her porcelain parts against each other and shrugs. “I don’t goddamn know!” Vexalan looks at Lian, and Lian looks away. “It would be best that we got moving already, that King Reveserpestrine is probably the Guardian of this Area, she’s probably already on her way here.” Steriya finishes.
What the fuck?
Demi - “... Steriya what the fuck?”
Steriya just looks at me. “Sorry, I was distracted, I only now remembered this… There’s a reason habitats like this don’t get Nuked every other day.” good lord… How are we supposed to escape this?! “Randra was the Snake You and Demitallis here met, Steriya.” Everyone looks over at Lian, who’s just sitting there. “The Guardian that is on his way here is her Mate. The Mother is too busy guarding her Babies to do anything, so her Mate Growlgith is protecting her territory and bringing food for her and her Kids. The Kids will be left to fend for themselves once they’re hatched of course, not that they would even need the help.. Anyways, Growlgith is her Mate and he’s on his way here. He’s a little stronger than her, but not by anything substantial.”
Demi - “Wait, how do you even know this?”
Lian just stares at me, as I ask my Question. “Shouldn’t you be focused on getting the Message out to everyone, and either preparing for a Fight, or to Run?” FINE. I’ll trust you this one last time, but you better talk soon damnit. I connect to everyone.
Demi - “Everyone, the Guardian of this Forest is on its way here, sadly, it’s too fast to outrun, and it’s extremely powerful! But it’s also dumb as bricks, so we CAN kill it!”
I watch as everyone runs around, like panicking ants, preparing in any way they can. Glant’s busy cleaning up his mess, and Veyta’s down, so our top fighting force is out. This thing eats dragons, but I doubt it eats Solar Dragons, probably just low ranking ones, even so… Calvin and Celscy are still young… Solar Dragons are Magic Centered Dragons, so they’ll be hanging back anyways. They should be fine. Lex is decently strong, I mean, he’s no Tenztore, or Veyta, but he’s got some strength. Vexalan on the other hand, is something else, all we really know is that she’s wicked fast. 1/5th of the Family isn’t even old enough to fight, and only 1/3rd of that is actually battle ready. The majority of my family doesn’t actually like fighting, the ones who do are really just the most vocal about it.
Looking around again, everything is calming down, they’re expecting the Guardian to be on his way here, where Glant let off that attack… Would be really useful against the Guardian… Anyways, he’s busy, and it would take too long to convince him. He’s probably also spending the rest of his Mana on Life Magic.
Everyone’s setting up in front of me, since I can’t move as much. I also don’t actually have any Magic Attacks… I would try to suffocate it with Mana Zone and Water Creation, but it can just absorb the Mana, so that wouldn’t be very effective… All I can really see myself doing is trying to strangle him with my Body, or attack him using my Water Cannon. I’m pretty good with my Water Cannon, I was using it a ton when I was digging those Tunnels. But it’s still so strong... And my Water Cannon requires an Abrasive, which I don’t really have any more.. We NEED an attack, and fast.
Fear, we’ve got a ton more Stamina and Mana than we use to, create a Magic Attack for us!
…
Fear, it’ll be fine, you should be able to develop something in a short amount of time.
Fine, but you have to eat something as soon as possible after all of this.
Thank you, Fear!
I can feel my IDM kick in, and my Mana begins to deplete. It’s draining at an alarming rate. It finally stops once I run out of Mana. Let’s see what we got.
Are you finished, what did you make?
Yes, I’ve finished, I’ve created Earth Magic, Fire Magic, and Wind Magic. I was struggling to come up with some sort of attack you could make with Water Magic, and decided that having the 4 Elements would be far more useful than not. With Wind and Fire Magic, I made Flame Thrower. With Earth and Water Magic, and our Water Cannon, I made Water Jet, it’s no 90K PSI Jet, but we’re cutting Flesh, not Steel here… And besides, we’ll get there soon. With Force, Mana Directioning, and Fire Magic, I made Flame Jets which will allow us to fly. Of course, holding ourselves together takes Stamina, so Floating will take both Stamina AND Mana to do. So it’s immeasurably more expensive. I won’t even mention our Weight’s addition to that…
You have worked very hard, Fear, you must be tired, goodnight.
Ah… I am, thank you, Chamber, I think I will sleep now, I hope this can help.
Thanks Mr. Fear! We’ll give it our best!
…
He’s asleep. Let’s not bother him, Charlotte, good luck.
Yeah… Thanks Chamber.
Once my Mana has regenerated a little, I quickly connect to Lex, and activate Telepathy.
Demi - “Lex, I don’t have much time, I need you to bring me food as soon as possible, and as much as possible!”
Lex looks over at me, and runs off. Everyone looks at him with disappointment and distaste… Guys… I told him to do it.
Lex returns, and drops an armful of Food into my Body, and their Expressions change. “Oh…” Yeah, that’s right, he’s bett- They’re all looking at me with that same look… Lex looks at them, and back at me. I connect to everyone.
Demi - “I had to create some Skills, okay? I used my IDM to make them, and I was out of Mana!”
Everyone’s eyes narrow, and they look away. I expand my Mana Zone and it washes over the entire area, until I connect to one of the Scouts.
Demi - “Hey, you’re a scout right, who am I talking to?”
Telepathy doesn’t really tell me who I’m talking to, I would need some sort of Sight Magic for that.
Tenz - “Demi, it’s me, Tenztore, I’ve got eyes on the Guardian, he’s about 3 clicks north of where you’re at, and he’s on a mad dash to your position… I’d give him about 10 minutes before he reaches you, he’ll definitely be after that damn Brat.”
Ah… Tenztore… His wings allow him to fly, he did good making that amount of distance in such a short amount of time… I didn’t even notice him leave.
I disconnect from Tenztore, and pull in my Mana Zone. Man, 3 Kilometers, my max used to be one Kilometer!
On another note, oh god 3 Kilometers… I connect to everyone.
Demi - “Alright, we have 10 minutes of Preparation Time left! Get started if you have any Last Minute Preparations!”
Everyone looks at me, and only a few of them start running around again. Anyone who wasn't running around was standing intently in position. “AAAHH-” Is all I hear, until Veyta lands in front of me… Oh good fuckin’ god- “WHERE”S THE PREY?!” Veyta looks around quickly, grinning like a Madwoman, as if she WASN’T dying only half an hour ago… Everyone stares at her with a mixture of emotions, as I connect her too.
Demi - “About 2 or 3 clicks north? If you’re good to fight, then you should be prepared to go all out.”
She grins wider than any living creature should be physically capable of, and runs off. “I’mma get my other Weapons!” That Girl is gonna’ get everyone killed… As she runs off, I notice she’s actually on her way to Glant.. I guess he holds onto her Gear for her?
5 more minutes pass, until Tenztore appears, and Veyta’s limp body is sent flying through a Tree behind us. “She tried to take the Guardian head on, and he struck her with his Head…” Veyta stands up, and shouts. “THAT WAS AWESOME! Let’s do it again!” She’s covered in her own Blood, and she runs forward.
Demi - “Someone get her healed, before she kills herself!”
One of my Siblings flies over, it’s Aribora, I wonder where Talliope is… Anyways, Aribora starts healing Veyta. “You’re gonna’ get yourself killed some day, doing this…” Veyta just laughs it off as she sits down. “Nah, I’ll be fine, I have Glant!” Veyta’s always placed all of her faith into Glant, and now I think I know why… Life... If it’s as powerful as I think, these 2 might be immortal... What the hell is this? Aren’t I supposed to be the Protagonist?! You didn’t lose your entire Life, it was Me- Oh… That’s right, they did, Arigold had uprooted everything we knew, and flipped it on it’s head. And now here we are… But I lost everything DOUBLE! So why don’t I have these overpowered abilities!? That’s not fair!
My body bubbles with rage as I sit here, silently… A loud rumble rips through the ground, and everyone looks over at where it’s coming from, he’s coming from where we predicted at least…
Growlgith, was it? Anyways, Growlgith definitely doesn’t look any shorter than Randra, he looks way angrier though… Okay, he doesn’t, he has the expressional range of a Snake, what do you expect? Well, he might be angry...
Good lord, shuttup, get to work you idiot!
I’M PANICKING, OKAY?!
Growlgith stops in front of the former death path, and his eyes follow it. It’s actually grown back really well, thanks to Glant. As his eyes follow the path, you can FEEL his displeasure growing, as it slowly turns from Life to Death, with Glant at the end of it. Veyta stares at him, she can tell what he’s thinking, he’s planning to kill Glant...
End of Chapter: 13 “The Prodigy Child shows himself, but so has his Demons!”
Thank you for reading.
“Thanks.”
“Sari does not know who she is thanking! But thank you anyways!”
