“Welcome!!!” The fabric sign shouts, as I sit in my little bowl. “So they really DID make you a party.” Nexus says, she of whom I have given the wonderful honor of carrying my bowl.
“Demitallis!” A surprisingly familiar voice calls out, causing everyone to turn and look in surprise- It’s Ling, the race organizer!
Demi - “Ling, it’s good to see you!”
Nexus carries me over to him, as I spot the rest of my family who’s still here, over at another table. Sirius said he’d rather spend the day with his GIRLFRIEND, so he’s not participating in the festivities.
“Come, Demitallis, I’d love for you to meet the newest participant!” He says, motioning me to follow- “Here, take her.” Nexus says, reminding him that there’s a powerful lady attached to the bowl. “O-Oh, thank you.” He says, as she hands me over to him.
Demi - “I didn’t think I’d be seeing you today.”
He begins walking, inspecting my bowl and I. “Yeah, everything’s ready. I figured I’d come and check up on you, to make sure everything is going well on your end.” He says, as we continue towards another table.
Demi - “It’s going great. We better head out soon though, I wouldn’t want to be late.”
“Oh, no worries about that. It’ll officially be starting in just a few days, your invitation will let you know when to head out.” He says, as we continue towards a lone table, with what seems to be a Racoon Demihuman sitting at it.
“Hey, Tory, look over here!” Ling calls out, grabbing his attention… There’s something odd about him… Ling arrives at his table, as the small racoon boy stares at me… “Oh, did you bring me water?” He asks, grabbing me out of ling’s hands-
Demi - “DO NOT!”
I jump out of the bowl, and land behind him, surprising him! “Wh-What- '' He tries to say, as Ling places my bowl next to me, and I crawl in again… “This is Demitallis Genesis, she’s a creature made entirely of water.” He says, as the kid stares at me…
“So what would happen if I tried to consume it?” He asks, staring at Ling-
Demi - “The last person who tried to put a piece of me inside of them was writhing on the ground.”
He leans back nervously, trying to keep his distance from the dangerous puddle kid that’s feeling a little hungry- “Pfft- As if you’re refined enough for MY tastes anyways.” He says, turning around and scoffing-
Demi - “I CAN and WILL throw myself down your gullet, I don’t even give a fuck! I don’t care if you’re like, eight years old, I’ll kick your ass two ways to Sunday from the inside out, Junior.”
They just stare at me, as I rattle off my obscenities- “This was a horrible mistake-” Ling says, as Tory retorts- “Eight and a HALF, bitch! Besides, I’m like, way bigger than you!” He says, pinching his fluffy fingers.
Demi - “Like anyone gives a fuck- Oh- You want to see BIG?”
I begin growing, and Ling drops me, surprised as I continue to grow and grow! “Oh sweet lord’a’mercy…” I continue until I’m the size of a building, and I deepen my internal voice.
Demi - “Who’s tiny NOW, little boy?!”
He falls flat on his ass, as Ling tries to calm me down- “Please, Miss Demitallis, I would prefer you leave the fighting for the race!” He says, as I decide to quit making a scene… “Thank you.” He says, as I jump back into my bowl.
Demi - “I’ve decided to be mature, and not bicker with this child.”
“You’re just jealous you don’t have a body.” He says, as my body ripples with spikes- I’m gonna’ kill him- “PLEASE, Tory… PLEASE don’t aggravate her.” He says, as Tory folds his arms, and looks away.
Demi - “I’ll throw you a line, and let you start over, if you try to not be a jackass.”
He almost retorts, but Ling stops him with a slide of his hand. “FINE…” He says, as I let it go. “Demitallis, I introduce you to Toryvonvascus. Tory here is a young mutant, a human mixed with a raccoon.” He says, as Tory hides his face…
Demi - “Hey, it’s cool. We’re weird too.”
“Yes, we wouldn’t judge you over something like this.” He says, sitting down while he places my bowl on the table. “Well, alright…” He says, pulling out his chair to sit down again.
Demi - “So what’s your power? I can recover psychic abilities that died with their users. A while back even, I recovered this ability called Premonition. I gave it to my friend Sirius.”
He stares and nods slowly, while looking at his hand-paw-thing- "Nullification-” He says, surprising me-
Demi - “Disables abilities and a wide array of certain powers?”
He stares at me, a little stunned, then nods. “Y-Yeah… How’d you know?” He asks, as he takes another glance at his food.
Demi - “A bit of a guess, but it explains itself with the name.”
“Yeah, you pretty much got it with that one.” Ling chuckles, as he rests his arm on the table, viscous green slime oozing from it. “We should show her the rock!” Tory says, causing Ling to snap his fingers in delight- “Absolutely!” He ejects from his seat, grabbing my bowl-
“This way!” Tory says, before guiding me to the item of question. We arrive, and it’s a large boulder covered in Japanese writing. I can’t exactly read Japanese, and there’s something a little off about it, but I certainly recognize it. It must have been placed here by another traveler, just like myself.
“What do you think it means?” Tory asks, as he stares at it. “I don’t know. Maybe they’re runes.” Ling replies, as I continue to stare at it…
Demi - “Guys, it’s just Japanese.”
Fuck- They both stare at me in shock, then back at the rock- Then back at me… “You know what this says- Wait, is this another language?” He glares at me-
Demi - “I can’t read Japanese- But yeah, it’s another language.”
“We should leave immediately. This is tabooed beyond belief, I’m sorry I brought you here. Let us never speak of this again.” He says, dragging us away from the rock, and its pretty japanese writing...
“But why?” Tory asks, as Ling continues to carry us away from it. “As if I would know- Listen, Demitallis, Toryvonvascus. You will NOT speak of this with ANYONE, under ANY circumstances.” He scolds, as he makes his way through the cave.
“I mean it. Just being associated could get you hunted. This never happened. Okay? Just forget it.” He says, before bringing us out of the cave, and back into the daylight.
“Hey, have you seen Demi? She’s missing the party.” Veloura suddenly says, after having spotted us. She stares at him, then at me…
Demi - “Nope, haven’t seen’er.”
“Demitallis… Mind introducing me to your new friends?” She asks, gesturing towards Ling and Tory.
Demi - “Guys, this is my little sister Veloura. Ling’s the tall green one, and Tory is the weird Racoon boy.”
“I am well over a DECADE older than you!” She shouts- “What’d you say about me?!” Tory shouts, scrambling in Ling’s arm- “Tory, please-” He says, before his arm suddenly falls off, surprising Tory-
Tory suddenly jumps back onto his feat, and laughs- “Heogh-Heogh! Now-yer’-gunna’-get-it!” He suddenly shouts, the silliest laugh I’ve ever heard-
Demi - “Oh my god, is that how you laugh- It’s beautiful...”
“Well now I am going to have to go and regrow my arm, thanks to you two. Come on, let’s go sit down.” He says, before following Veloura back to the party.
Demi - “So your name’s Vascula, huh?”
I mimic a sort of chewing sound in my telepathic voice. “Is that even necessary?” Tenztore asks-
Demi - “Yes.”
He just rolls his eyes, as Vascula studies me, her eyes fixated on my presence. “Yeah. Nice to meetcha, sis.” She says, as her wings bumps against the table as she tries to reach out and shake my non-existent hand.
I reach out with a tendril of water, and wrap it around her hand. “Wow, you’ve already gotten so good at that- And how old are you again?” She asks, staring at her hand, as she slowly shakes it, before looking back at me again.
Demi - “I thought you would be impressed. I’m about three or four months old.”
“Wow!” She says, as Tory spits his food- “What?!” He exclaims, looking at me. “Yeah, she’s super smart for age. For some reason…” Veloura says, as her eyes slowly deadpan towards me...
“So… Are you going to try and add him to our family too?” Calbdin asks, as Tory returns to his extensive plate of food.
Demi - “You got anywhere else to go, Tory?”
“Nope. Lone wolf.” He says, stuffing his face.
Demi - “You wanna’ come chill on our island, for a while?”
“Sure.” He says, as he continues to shovel food into his mouth. “Well that settles that, I guess.” Veloura says, resting her face against the table.
Flare floats over to where Ling is sitting, and stares at him. “So how about you, Ling? Why’d you invite our little sister to a race like that?” Flare asks, while Ling unknowingly demonstrates his newfound rivalry of Tory’s eating habits to everyone.
“She’s a strange creature, and she wields a Psychic power!” He says, as I lowkey watch the food dissolve in his body… “She’s a Puddle Kid- Also I’m sorry- What’s this about a Psychic power?” Veloura asks, as she deadpans me again.
He stares at me and then looks back at her. “What exactly is a puddle kid?” He asks. “They’re like Demitallis, I don’t know.” Veloura answers, as he looks at me again. “Fair enough. Still very exotic.” He says, as he sips some tea.
“Anyways… I plan on streaming the whole thing to the world, you see, I’m a Pact Master, so I figured I could get my name out there, by holding a competition.” He says, as he gels his body around more food.
“I’ve got a VERY special prize planned, and the allure of exotic wielders of psychic powers would surely draw in MANY watchers. I’ll be famous!” He says, as everyone begins to grow anxious…
Demi - “I might have to cancel my participation, Ling. Listen, I REALLY love the idea of a race, but I really don’t want to show my face to the world...”
He stares at me in surprise, then rubs his squishy chin… “Fair enough, you can mask yourself. You can also hide your name, and anything else you need.” He says, as everyone starts to calm down.
Demi - “Race is back on! Right, you said I could invite whoever I want, right?”
“Yes.” He says, in reply, as everyone stares at me.
Demi - “Anyone here want to join?”
“I will.” Vascula says, raising her hand. “Sounds fun, how about you guys?” She asks, looking at them. “No, I’m not feeling it this time.” Tenztore says. “I go wherever he does, so I guess I’m out of the question.” Calbdin says, scratching the back of his head.
“Yeah, I’m not up for it either.” Flare says. “I’m out, this was fun, but I need a break.” Veloura joins in. “Tally and I are also out, we’ve got other plans.” Aribora adds. “Well, I think that’s everyone.” Ling finishes for us, as he almost fights Tory for a sandwich.
Demi - “I’ll have to ask around, then. Maybe Sirius would like to join.”
“Maybe.” Flare says, as she eats a tiny piece of cake, from her slice of cake, of which is bigger than her.
Demi - “Oh, and Celest! If I get her to join, then she could tell Vilstrous to participate! He lost a bet, so now he has to work for her.”
“Isn’t that guy a member of a mid council? How did she even manage that?” Ling asks, as he stares down at me again.
Demi - “Cheated at a pok- Stakes game. She used a creepy mask, it made me SUPER uncomfortable.”
“Enchanted? Blessed? Cursed? What’d it do?” Ling asks.
Demi - “Cursed. Some enchantments, or so Demistar said. ‘Said a soul was inhabiting it, and it would have taken over Celest’s body. Watching the roots be pulled out of her face was bad enough, but the idea of having some creep walk around in her body- Eugh…”
They just stare at me, as I sit here, and nonchalantly consume more food. “So some sort of enchantment to alter luck?” Ling asks. “You and Celest are the dumbest, and most annoying people in our family.” Veloura says, as she folds her arms.
Demi - “Fair enough. Anyways, I gotta’ go take a piss, see ya’ guys.”
“HOW?!” Veloura shouts, as I attach a thread to a building, and leave without an extra word!
I arrive at the Rock, and stare at it.
You think we might be able to figure it out?
I doubt it. A little too complex for even IDM.
Deciphering an entire language, of which all letters aren’t even present. Yeah, no. Not happening.
Well, we’ve got to be able to do SOMETHING with it-
I roll up to it, and just stare…. Screw it- I press myself against it, and that seems to have triggered something-

“Mom!” I wine, as I fall over- She comes running in, and helps me up onto my feet again. “Thanks, mom.” I say, as she smiles at and hugs me. “Are you okay? How’s your little project going?” She asks, as I look at the tool in my hand.
“I’m hungry!” I shout, and she picks me up again. “Come, let’s make you some breakfast, then you’ll head off to school.” I nod, and I’m carried to the kitchen to be sat down at the table. I watch my mother prepare my breakfast, until she finally places it in front of me.
“Do you plan to show it off, during your school’s little event?” She asks, as I eat my food, silently… “What have I told you about ignoring me?” She asks, giving me the stare… “Sorry, mom…” I say, as I continue to eat my food.
“It’s alright... Now talk to me, honey.” I think for a moment, and stare at her… “My project… Almost ready. I want to show it off soon...” I say, trying to put my words together. I’m not very old yet, so I’m not as good at it as my mom is.
I finally leave for school, taking a few of the parts with me so I can work on them in my spare time. I enter the classroom with the rest of my classmates, and I’m finally seated. “Greetings, everyone. We'll roll-call, then we’ll begin.” Mr. Oxefeld says, before doing just that.
“Axelevern.” He says, starting with his son as usual. “Present.” Axelevern says, as he continues to list off a few more names- “Qualstra.” He says, and so I raise my hand- “Here.” I say, putting it back down as I work on the part on my lap.
“Foldgefern.” He says. “Over here.” Foldge replies, as our teacher moves on. I don’t have many friends, but sometimes Foldge will hang out with me.
He makes his way through a few more names, until he lands on one of my friends. “Azurevonveize.” He says, and Azure responds in the rude way he usually does…
“Zelzara.” He says, landing on my other friend. “H-Here.” She says. She’s a little shy, and frightens easily. So I’m the old person who can really hang out with her in the first place.
He finally finishes, and class begins. “Today we will be learning about the World Powers. Who they are, and how their abilities govern reality. To begin with, there are currently ten wielders of the twelve elements, leaving only Heart and Void left to be re-conquered.” He says, drawing pictures to help us learn with his magic.
Later, I find myself working during recess. “Hey, Qualstra.” Foldge says, before sitting next to me. “Hello, Foldge.” I say, as Zelzara walks over and sits down next to him. “And Zelzara.” I say, as they stare at the devices I’m working on.
“You love working on all of those, huh?” She asks. Zelzara’s a mutant, and recently transferred last year. Mutants like her have been coming from that weird place. This is the nearest city, so I guess they decided this was the place to go.
To be more specific, she said she’s a mix between a human, a condor, and a parrot. Her back is covered in bright colorful feathers, and she has bird legs, but her front is pretty normal, aside from the fact her arms have seemingly fused with her wings...
She’s my friend, so things are nicer when she’s around. My mom doesn’t like mutants so much, so I try to ignore her in that regard.
“It’s nice.” I say, as I finally finish this one, and start working on the next. “So what’s this one do?” Foldge asks, as he and Zelzara look at it. “Magic-focus. Gathers mana in the air, then distributes to the primary reactor.” I say, as I pull open the active maintenance latch, and shut off the inhibitor.
I focus mana into my eyes, and tell them to do the same. “Is this how they generate mana?” Zelzara asks, as she looks at it. “No. Most machines have the G.S-Slurry. Better concoctions result in denser mana.” I say, as I shove in another lock-spike.
“Why aren’t you using one?” Foldge asks, as he drops the small piece, and I catch it. “I don’t have one. Premades are expensive.” I say, as the bell suddenly chimes, and we’re called back in. “That sucks, come on Qual.” Zelzara says, as everyone begins heading inside.

Cubes fly at me again, and I shoot them down. I don’t understand this world I live in, but I understand that I must fight. I have wielded many weapons, but this weird slug-pelter-thing has proven itself to be the most effective in dispatching opponents.
My metallic-cutting tool on the other hand, tends to prove itself very useful when in close quarters combat. Which is often where the slug-pelter falls short. These are my chosen tools, and I have learned much from them.
Is it coventry? Or is it metaphysics? I understand conceptual reality greater than I should- Object reality is foreign to me, but conceptual to emotional reality is familiar. Which tells me that there is much more to myself that I am unaware of.

I rock away on my chair slowly, as I stare into the distance… I’m the Regional-Sheriff of this area, therefore I keep the peace. My name is Olvarge Magmatic Molfrim. I’ve been through my fair share, but nowadays…
I just like to kick back, with a nice cold drink, and take in the immersive serenity of the kingdom of life…
But before I can enjoy my rest, I’m jolted awake with a scream… It’s another one of those mutants, they’re being harassed by the once good people of this city… I stand up from my chair, and walk over, clearing my throat so I may shout.
“Settle down!” I shout, raising my voice enough to get them off the poor thing’s back. These mutants have just made my life harder, no wonder the ancients despise them as such. Somebody needs to do something about all this.
“Alright, what’s going on here?” I ask, as the young lady stares at me… Without a word though, everyone walks away, remembering that they have places to be. “‘You alright, lassy?” I ask, as she stands up, glares at me, and runs off.
Yep, a thankless job. I return to my chair, and sit down, but just before I can return to my rest- “Olvarge! There’s an uprising happening in the eighth district, the mutants are acting up again! We need you!” A guardsman exclaims over the intercom…
I breathe in. “Sheriff Olvarge?” I breathe out. “I’m on my way.”

There she is, the girl with the fiery hair… “Are you staring at that mutant again?” Lisk asks, as I sit here. “She’s a person too, dude. And I’m gonna’ be the lucky guy to ask her out. Wish me luck, my man!” I say, as he folds his arms.
“Break a leg. Or two. Or everything, actually, while you’re at it.” He says, giving me a great idea for a pickup line! “Ey, girl~!” I say, as I slide up next to her all smooth and jaz~ “Are you a phoenix, ‘cause you are hot!” I say, as everyone stares at us.
“How did you know?” She asks, surprising me- “What do you mean?” I ask, staring at her. “I’m part Phoenix? How did you know?” She asks, as I lose balance for a moment- “O-Oh- I just- My friend gave me this idea for a pick up line- I’m sorry.” I say, as she continues to stare at me, and everyone returns to what they were doing.
“Hey, so… Would you like to get a bite to eat?” I ask, as brushes away her gorgeous glowing hair. “Well, you ARE the first person to approach me in such a way as this… Alright, let’s go see what’s on the menu.” She says, as I throw a silent parade in my head.
I look at my buddy, and give him a thumbs up- He’s gone, I guess he left... “So what are you feeling?” I ask, as we look at the menu. “Mostly alone, anxious, a little homesick. I prefer pyrotechnics, but occasionally I like to treat myself to a strawberry yoohoo.”
I stare at her for a moment, and consider it, then shrug and return back to the nice menu items. “Would something spicy work?” I ask, earning a shrug then a nod. And finally, our little cafeteria-bound date begins!
“I’m sorry about what I said. I hope it wasn’t too insensitive.” I say, as I rub the back of my head, as she tries her food. “It’s fine. As I said, most boys won’t even talk to me. And if they do, it’s usually nothing nice.” She says, as I in turn try mine.
“So do you live in the city? I recently moved into my apartment, so I can focus more on my studies.” I say, surprising her. “Oh, I live with my mother. She’s a full fledged phoenix, and the donor of my genes. They used to be hers, but they’re mine now” She says, showing off her pants, as I nod slowly in acknowledgement.
“Wow. So she really took you in? That’s amazing. I heard legendary creatures are incredibly opposed to mutants.” I say, realizing I might have said something offensive again- “Really? I had no idea. She’s always kept me so sheltered. Maybe that’s why she never named me after a star, to hide me…” She says, as she looks out the large windows…
“Right- I completely forgot- I’m Venetiur Folster. What’s your name?” I ask, surprising her. “Ah. I guess I forgot too- I am Chorimaxis Fulcrum, it’s nice to meet you.” She says, as I chuckle a little- Causing her to giggle! Victory!
“So… Just curious, but… Do you have any cool powers?” I ask, staring into her eyes. “Not really, my human side seems to have super-imposed itself. So all I got was this super regeneration.” She says, before pulling up her sleeve to reveal a small scar on her arm.
“Sadly though, it doesn’t fix scars. Unlike my mother’s. At least I don’t have to worry about pain as much.” She says, pulling down her sleeve again. “How’d you get it?” I ask. “Oh, I was just testing, so I gave myself a small cut with a knife.”
“I see. I guess it’s better than nothing.” I say, as I continue to think about it. “I dunno’. If it WAS nothing, maybe I would face so much prejudice…” She says, making me realize I just screwed up again- “Ah- Um- Uh… Shit, I’m sorry… I’m bad at this…” I say, as I try to find the words.
“It’s fine, Venetiur. I go through stuff like this every day just on my way here. I promise, I’m not bothered.” She says, allowing me to calm down. “Thank you so much!” I say in relief, making her giggle again, and accidentally shooting up in celebration-
Everyone looks over again, as she simply smiles… “You’re a silly man. Come on, let’s go.” She says, as we finish our plates, and return the plates to the depository, before leaving through the twin-doors.

We’re finally out of school, and my friends walk me home, promising to help me finish my project for the fair in just a few days. “So what HAVE you been building this whole time?” Foldge asks, as we enter through the garage door. “A guardian… Nexus... She’ll be very strong.” I say.
“Why do you need the robot to protect you?” Foldge asks, as I hold out my hand. “Type-Two Heavy-Cartridge-Flacker. Sixth Docking Injector. I just want a robot. Therefore it must have usage.” I say, as they stare at me, and I use my mana to visually represent the tools.
They bring them to me, and I begin installing the parts I finished. I should have brought a couple more, if I knew, I wouldn’t have wasted so much time. “Administrator: Qualstra. Activate Diagnostics-Inspections: Begin.” I say, speaking to the beautiful masterpiece of an Info-Proc I have made.
The parts jerk around, individual pieces flinging open and shutting again to check if they’re still working properly themselves. The forehead light blinks ten times, all but the third one blinking green, and instead a soft orange.
“What’s it mean?” Zelzara asks, as they both stare at her. “Right arm needs repairs. It can wait. Almost finished… Come, the science fair is in a few days, we begin working now.” I say, surprising them, before we get started.
Thanks to the extra mana, I was able to finish faster than I thought I would, and they even got to insert some of the pieces into Nexus, while I finished the brain.
“You’re REALLY gonna’ turn her on?” Zelzara asks, as she and Foldge stand back. “What if it freaks out?” Foldge asks. “What if it attacks us?” He adds, having learned a lot about her strength from working on her.
“I will deal with it. Deactivate dream-state . Release unit. Nexus, awaken.” I say, and the body nearly falls to the floor, before catching herself with her arm and knee.
“Where am I?” She asks, as she looks around. “Welcome home, Sister.” I say, surprising her. “Who are you?” She asks. “Your older sister, you were hurt, you lost a lot of memories.” I say, as she sits down and nods intently.
“I understand. Am I okay?” She asks, as the other two just stare between her and I. “Yes. We will begin lessons soon. Bring you back up to speed, as it were.” I say, as she stands up again, and looks down at me.
“Hey. Uh-” Foldge says, grabbing our attention. “So um- Your, uh- Sister?” IHe tries to word something, and so I look at Nexus. “Mom will be home soon, prepare yourself. Go create something in the kitchen for us. She will be proud.” I say, as she stares at me.
“What exactly is a mom? And a sister?” She asks, reminding me how I made her- “You forgot that too. Nonetheless, it means a lot to you. Heed my words, Nexus, and it will all come clear.” I say, and so she shrugs then nods and walks away, stopping at the door-
“What now?” I ask. “What’s a kitchen?” She asks. “Figure it out.” I replied. “Alright, thanks- Uh, sister.” She says, before finally leaving. “So this was your project…” Zelzara says, as she stares in an interesting discomfort.
“Yes. Robot that believes it to be human. Do not mess this up for me.” I say, as I walk over to a chair to lie down, so I can escape this exhaustion. “You could have told us, had us a little nervous…” Zelzara says, as I press a button.
“I want a drink please, Nexus.” I say. “What the- Uh- Sure.” She quickly says, in reply. “She knows what THAT is, but not a kitchen?” Foldge asks, as he sits down. “I want to teach her many things. But she needs a FEW things.” I say, before the girl in question comes in with my drink.
“Thanks.” I say, as she stares at me again. “Um- So is this what sisters do?” She asks, as I kind of shrug. “In a way, yes. There is much more to it, you will learn.” I say, surprised as my friends sigh in relief. What did they THINK I was going to say?
“Oh, okay, thanks, sister. But… How WAS I hurt? And what was that strange place?” She asks, making me regret not creating her with the knowledge of when to stop. “Attacked. The dead of night, a dark dragon.” I begin.
“You stopped it, but left hurt in the process. Now you will reside under the skeletal framework of your metal chassis. Your second question, I have no answer. Unsure of what you speak of.” I say, dodging the second one masterfully. “Now return to the kitchen, you will hasten yourself.” I say, and so she does as she is told, thankfully.
“What IS she to you?” Foldge asks, as I sip upon the sippy-straw, and lightly spin on my spinny-chair. “My little sister.” I say. “But she’s like, taller than your mom.” Zelzara tries to counter. “And I care?” I say, as she folds her arms, and stares at me in disappointment.
What did I say? “Whatever. It’s biting YOUR butt anyways. I’m fixing that younger sister thing, though.” she says, confusing me. “What should we do now?” Foldge asks, as I look over at the door. “Video Games?” I ask, and so they shrug and accept.
But we get barely through the kitchen, before Nexus spots me- “Oh, sister. Where are you going?” She asks. “My room. I will play video games.” I say. “Okay.” She says, but yet STILL, before we can leave-
“You should help her cook, Qual! You ARE her sister, AFTER ALL~.” Zelzara says, making me consider striking her- “Oh, is that something sisters do?” She asks, giving me an out- “Absolutely! We’re her friends, we’ll help too!” Foldge adds, as I consider drop kicking him-
And because I have to keep up appearances, and maybe because it seemed to make her happy, this is what we did until my mother got home.

“Sulsol, are you listening?” She asks, as my eyes watch for prey. “Yes, I am. I’m sorry, but my eyes just kind of do this.” I shrug, and she continues. “Anyways… The citizens have been breaking out in small civil protests.” She says, as one of my eyes focuses on my beautiful city…
“Mutants and people alike-” She says, as my eyes focus on her instead, surprising her. “Those Mutants are people too, Fell.” I say, standing up, as she rolls her eyes. “I know, I’m just- It doesn’t matter. How do you plan to deal with this?” She asks, as I walk over to the glass walls of my office.
I rest my hand against one of the thin metal supports that run through the glass, as I step to the very edge to better observe my precious home… “What CAN I do, Fell? They keep coming, and it just keeps getting worse…” I say, as I spot that research facility in the distance…
“Actually.. I believe I might have a call to make.” I say, surprising her, as I point and she spots it too. “Oh. Who DO you plan to call?” She asks. “If I can get word out to the Church of Valhalla… They may send a Templar.” I say, as we continue to stare at that place.
“Are you sure? They’re not exactly known for their tact…” She says, as I consider it… “Yes, we’ll have to move the mutated citizens until he leaves…” I say, as she folds her arms… “Shall I send out a notice to the research facility first?” She asks, as I shake my head.
“No, if they refuse to leave, then they might hire a few guns of their own.” I say, and she walks back to the table in a solemn acceptance. “I look out for my people, and in the interest of the greater good, there is nothing I can do for them.” I say, as I walk over and sit back down.
“I… Dislike it, but at least we have it out of the way…” She says, as I begin considering how I would move all the mutants… “Moving on, now let’s see-” She says, pulling out my schedule.

It turns out that my mother is scary… That’s all there is to really say on this matter, as she loudly and horribly barrates my older sister from the other room… The other two looked up at me, a little scared themselves…
“Are you scared too, Nexus?” The female one, Zelzara asks, surprising me. “Ah- No! No. I’m not scared, I’m fine.” I say, trying not to show any signs of fear, I’m too strong to do so… “We DID hear that you’re pretty strong.” Foldge says, as he also looks up at me.
“Y-Yeah. I’m very strong.” I say, as my mother and my sister finally exits the room, and my sister is held by the scruff of her- As she calls it: “Hoodie.”
“H-Hello… You’re my, um, mom?” I ask, as they walk by, and my mother’s head turns a little... “Oh- Yeah, I guess.” She says, before walking away again… “Hey, I’m sure they’re just talking it all out.” Zelzara says, as she pulls out a chair, and sits down…
“Yeah, alright…” I say, as I pull out one for myself, and sit down, followed by Foldge doing the same thing. “I think dinner looks nice, at least.” He says, as I stare at the nice dish we made. I didn’t do as much as I was expecting, since it turns out Foldge is a surprisingly good cook.
After a few minutes of wait they finally exit the other room, with my little sister not held by her coat. “‘Sis.” She says, rubbing her face with her sleeves for some reason. “So… Nexus, my daughter…” Mother says, as I stare at her…
“I’m glad you’re home?” She asks, while looking at my sister. “Yes.” She says in reply, and I just kind of stare… “How do you feel about your sister?” She asks me, after taking glances at my sister’s friends. “I’m thankful she was able to do what she did for me.” I say, as she nods lightly…
“Right, well I’m sure she told you you’re her little sister, when you’re actually her older sister.” She says, surprising me, as my sister looks up at her with a funny looking expression.
“What do you mean?” I ask. “Oh, it just means you’ve been around longer. It’s also why you’re taller than her. Your little sister is still very young.” She adds, as my sister folds her arm and looks away. “Whatever.” She says, standing up and walking away…
“Man this is awkward.” She suddenly says, sliding onto her elbow. “Listen, I didn’t think I’d be ge- meeting my eldest daughter... Again. After a long time.” She says, wording it weirdly. “Can we go hang out with Qual?” Foldge asks, reminding me that they call my sister that, for some reason.
“Ah- Sure. Anyways, since you probably don’t know… My name is Polarascola, but you can just call me Polara, or Mom, if you like that more.” She says, as the other two leave us. “and my daughter’s name is Qualstratum.” She says, surprising me. I guess it’s kind of obvious she would have a bigger name, now that I think about it…
-√Z4-
It’s only been a few days, and we’re already enjoying our third date! “I’m so glad I was able to build up the courage to walk up to you that day.” I say, as passersby wave lightly, and the waiter places a couple cups of water on our table. “Your food will be ready very soon.” He says, smiling and walking away.
“Thank you-” I tried to call out, but he’s already gone. “If you ever want to move into an apartment with me, I NEED to get a nice flat here. Everyone around this part of the city is so welcoming!” I excitedly say, as I look around…
“Yeah, it certainly is nice… I might talk to my mother, see what she thinks.” She says, as I turn to look at her again. “Well- I might not see you for a while. The mayor has announced an evac-notice, and I figured I’d wait it out with my mom.” She says, surprising me.
“Wow, I had no idea… I must have missed it. What do you think is going on?” I ask, as I look and only now realize everyone has been moving surprisingly busily for a city of this size… “Heh. I WISH I had an idea.” She says, as she rests on her arms, and looks up at me.
“Ha. So, tell me more about-” I try to say, but she interrupts me- “No, you tell me something about YOURSELF.” She says, surprising me. “O-Oh… Most people aren’t all that interested in me…” I say, a little embarrassed…
“Well I am. Or am I not good enough all of a sudden?” She says, teasing me. “Alright- Alright… Where do I begin?...” I ask myself, as I think back on it… “How about when you were a kid?” She cuts in- “Oh, okay. When I hit the age of six, I ran from home ‘cause my parents were part of this weird cult.” I say, surprising her.
“Wait, cult?” She asks. “Yeah, creepy stuff they were doing. I think they might have wanted me as one of the sacrifices…” I say, as it all plays out in my head exactly as I remember it… “And so I grew up near the outskirts of the city, in a little tent.” I say.
“Here wait- I think I still have the tattoo, from my cult days-” I say, as I pull up my sleeve, and show her. “Wow.” She says, as I pick up where I left off. “Yeah. Anyways, for a while I did a lot of hunting, until I was found and reintroduced into society. And here I am.” I say, as she stares at me.
“Huh… I don’t have as much story as you, I guess…” She says, as I simply grin. “Hey. We can always make our own story.” I say, as she gestures an agreement. “Of course, we should probably finish our classes.” I say, as she gestures another considerative agreement.
“I found a dungeon, a while back!” I say, surprising her again. “Wait, seriously? Those things have gotten so rare-” She says, as she stands up, and looks around. “Yeah, I’ll check up on it every now and then, I spotted it building around the area lately, and I was thinking we could try a run at it.” I say, as she sits back down and considers it.
“MAYBE. But find someone to come with us, maybe one of our teachers. And someone who’s strong, in case there’s something dangerous down there.” She says, as I nod slowly. “Right… Sounds good. Once we’ve found our guys, we’ll reconvene.” I say, as she takes her own turn to nod slowly.
“A real dungeon… I wonder what type it is…” She says, as she rests her cheek in her hand… “Yeah, I think it’ll be fun.” I say, as our food finally arrives.
-√Z3-
“Seriously?” I ask, as I bring the vehicle to a stop. “Yeah, the Mayor’s got this plan, supposedly it’ll fix everything.” He says, chuckling as the rest of us join in. “Now I haven’t heard a good one like that in a while.” I say, as we all pile out and run in to assist.
“This is our home too!” A tall man shouts, standing atop the rubble of an old run down building. “Calm down, it’s just temporary!” The chief shouts, as I run up next to him. “Reporting, Sir.” I say, surprising him.
“Sheriff Olvarge. You want a try at talking to’em?” He asks, as I consider it. “What, you run out of pretty words?” I ask, as he hands it to me. “No, but yours are prettier… Aren’t they?” He says, making the others laugh, as I roll my eyes, and step up onto the platform.
The man stares at me, it’s hard to tell what he’s mixed with… “You’re supposed to protect us, but we’re still discriminated against every day…” He says, as I bring the mic to my mouth. “I think we all know it’s not within our right to restrict freedom of speech.” I say, as they all stare at me.
“But I’m not here to tell you that.” I continue, as they fold their arms. “I deal with others mistreating people like you all the time.” I say, as I pull my helmet off. “And I deal with people like you mistreating others for that exact reason.” I say, as they continue to stare…
“Your place in Everessence is just as precious as anyone else’s, and you’re not helping yourselves, or anyone else by doing this.” I say, as they all look between each other.
“Hey, the Mayor is here, and he wants to have a word.” The Chief says, surprising me, as I step back and hand it over, and then he does to our mayor. “Please, everyone. Just as this good man has said, your place here is precious.” He says, keeping up a smile, as I return to the lines.
-√Z1-
Science Fair! I clap my hands, as Nexus sits there on the table. “So I’m your project?...” She asks, as I nod lightly. “Correct. Qualstra’s very good project… Maimed beyond repair? Qualstra has the answer!” I say, while yes a bit of a lie, but I’ve gotten quite the chance to teach her a lot.
“The best part? The VERY best part I hear you ask?” I say, as I excitedly walk around in circles, confusing my sister. “You ask now.” I say, with the bite of expectancy. “O-Oh. What’s the best part?” She asks. “Well I’m glad you asked!” I say, before beginning!
She folds her arms. “A special professor in robots is attending!” I say, as she tilts her head. “Okay?” She asks. “A professor from the college! THE Celestial College! I will win, and cement my spot in their special super-college!” I say, surprising her.
“Alright? But are you sure I can’t see what’s in the box?” She asks, as I back away with it. “No! Everything is ruined otherwise!” I say, as she nervously backs away, and the teachers finally approach. Yes, it’s praise time…
They stare in majestic awe of my incredible creation, as my friends finally return. “Is this your project, Qualstratum?” The inspector asks, as Nexus steps down from the table, and shows off the parts I told her to. “Sis, this is a little embarrassing.” She says, but I brush it off…
She’s MY robot after all, she shouldn’t be bothered. “Here, look into the box.” I say, surprising them with the little note I wrote inside. “O-Oh, I see! This experiment is very impressive. You may have won, my friend.” He says, as I look around, and silently cement my victory in my head.
“Well, upon inspection, the- um- Mech ITSELF is quite impressive too. Please, do call us with the results of your experiment, I would LOVE to hear it. Until then~” He says, before walking away… Oh I CERTAINLY will~...
“Well, I believe you have cemented your victory.” Zelzara says, as she hands me a cup, and Foldge hands Nexus her cup. “Yes, Qualstra wins! Qualstra ALWAYS wins!” I say, as she giggles. “So do you plan to, um…” Foldge asks, as he approaches, reminding me of THAT.
“No! My experiment must see fruition!” I say, as I fold my arms and scoff in the ultimate show of protest! “But-” Zelzara tries to say- “Ah-ah-ah-” I stop her. “I will hear no rebuttal. My word is final.” I say, and so Nexus walks up. “You heard her, guys. I don't get to know just yet.”
I give a single clap. “SEE? She’s just fine~.” I say, as they fold their arms. “Whatever. I just… I don’t know.” She tries to say, obviously still a few leagues below my superior intellect! “I judge you not.” I say, as I pat her head.
“I could smack you right now.” She says, as Nexus’s head snaps into movement, and looks at her, while a couple older kids walk over.
“Wow, a Robot? At your age?” The young-man asks, as I turn to look at him. “Nope! My sister! Horribly mangled in combat!” I say, surprising them.
“Or so I’ve heard.” Nexus says, joining in- “Now I’m like this. Body’s super strong at least.” She continues, as they inspect her. “Wow… That’s incredible… I’m Venetiur. So you’re strong… Huh? How old are you?” He asks, surprising me.
“Oh, I don’t know, actually… I never thought to ask…” She says, as I internally panic- “Sixteen!” I say, surprising them. “Oh. Thanks sis!” She says, giving me a thumbs up. “Funny, we’re that age too. You should come hang out with us sometime.” He says, as his friend walks up with a couple drinks.
“Oh, and this is my girlfriend, her name is Chorimaxis.” He says, as she gives a gentle wave. “Oh, sure.” She says, making a decision without my permission… “Nexus is not permitted to leave.” I say, folding my arms.
“Oh- Sorry… Just curious- Why do you get to decide?” He asks. “Ah, um…” I try to say, as they stare at me… “She will be hurt!” I shout, as they back away a little!
“Listen.” The other one- Chorimax says. “We’re not trying to hurt your sister. Is her body so weak that she can’t be away from you for a few hours?” She asks, as I fold my arms again. “No! Technology is perfected! Raze mountains, she could!” I shout, as they stare at me.
“Well I mean, if you’re so sure… Then why not?” She asks, as I stare at her. “MY robot… ALRIGHT?” I ask, as the other two’s eyes just widen… “Qual…” They try to say, as I decide to ignore them.
“I’m not a robot…” Nexus suddenly says… “Where and when?” She asks, as she pulls herself down from the table. “Oh. Finely-Forely’s. It’s a nice restaurant we like to hang out at. Tomorrow, and twelve, if that’s good with you.” Chorimaxis says, as my patience begins to waver…
“Yeah, I’ve not got anything I’m doing anyways.” She says, as they head off… “Nexus…” I say, as I stew in my anger… “What the FUCK?” I try to whisper, causing Zelzara to choke on her own drink! “I’m a person too, I can do what I want…” She says, as I look at the box…
“Qual, you know you’re not supposed-” Zelzara says, but I wave my hand at her- “No! MY decision! THIS is what is best!” I shout, as they try to back away. “Alright… Sorry Nexus, I can’t calm her down.” She says, as Nexus begins to walk away…
“It’s fine, I’m allowed to make my own decisions anyway…” She says, as my arms lower, just leaving me here… “I think we’re gonna’ head out too, the fair is almost over anyways. See ya’, Qual.” All alone… With my little box...
-√Z5-
“So you’re really a Templar?” I ask, as the large, walking tank of a man steps before my table, and places a blade on it. “I am the seven-hundred-thirty-eighth monster hunter, direct me to my target.” He says, surprising me.
“Ah… Of course. It’s right there…” I say, as I walk over to the glass window, and point at the small building well into the distance. “In honor of your contribution to our holy crusade, you will no longer suffer such a blemish.” He says, as we walk back over to my table.
I look at the blade, and notice words written on it. “Of course… Thank you. Please, move quickly.” I say. “I am the guardian of her guiding light, eternally marching and stamping out all evil upon her holy crusade.” He says, really starting to creep me out…
“That’s nice… I’m honored. Good luck. Bye now.” I try to say, as he begins to mutter under his helmet, for like, hours. I head home before he’s done, and decide to just hope that this thing will be out of my office when I get back...
