They stare at me expectantly…
Demi - “I painstakingly produced this mana with my blood sweat and tears! It’s mine!”
“Demi, come on~!” Kass groans, as she continues to beg to use my incredible amount of mana reserves…
I look at Princess Stallatia, choosing to ignore Kass for the moment.
Demi - “So, you’re Princess Stallatia. It’s nice to finally meet you, your highness.”
She continues to stare at me from behind Kass… “Y-Yeah, it’s n-nice to meet you too… Kass, you’re certain it won’t eat us?...” She says, causing Kass to simply fold her arms. “Come on Stallatia, she’s not like the monsters from your stories.” She says, trying to convince her.
Demi - “No, I think her calling me an: ‘it’ Is awakening something in me, Kass.”
The two girls stand up, and back away, as I crawl out of my nest.
Demi - “Where do you think YOU’RE going? Yeah, there’s no escaping this girls. Now y’all better apologize.”
“Sorry! I’m very sorry!” Stallatia says, appeasing me… I slip back into my nest, lazily resting here, because it’s ju~st so nice…
Demi - “Alright FINE. I’ll give ya’ the mana! What do you need it for anyways?”
Kass walks back up to me, staring into the abyss as I stare back. “Well, I guess it’s only fair. We’ve been hunting down Fallengrar, we know where he is. We’re hoping if it’s just us, we might just be able to do it.” They say, making me worried…
Demi - “I couldn’t tell you enough, how bad of an idea that is. He’s got this woman working with him, she can quite literally teleport you to the moon.”
Their eyes slowly widen in realization of the distance alone. “Are you kidding me?! Stallatia, let’s just go home. Demitallis is right, it’s too risky.” Kass says, with my full agreement.
Stallatia however shakes her head. “No, it has to be me. Besides, with the suits, we’ll be safe anyways. Listen Demitallis, we managed to procure some jumpsuits that were made just for us. But they need mana, and lots of it. At full power, I think we should be completely safe.” She says, peaking my curiosity…
Demi - “Jumpsuits? Can you expand?”
She’s surprised, but continues. “Oh- Ah- They’re based on the old Hero of Ryleth-” Before she continues, it’s just as I suspected-
Demi - “A HERO?! I love heroes! You should’a just opened with that guys, I’ll totally give you the mana! But in return, I want one of my own, and it has to be a copy of the original! Get Sari, she should be able to help.”
They look between each other, confused… “How would you wear it? Do you want- like, a giant bag?...” Kass says, trying to figure out how it would even work.
Demi - “No, I just like collecting souvenirs. I want a copy of the original, ask Sari for help.”
They’re surprised, I guess they never pegged me for that type of person. “Really? I never thought of it like that. I guess it fits with your collection of stuff over there.” Kass says, as she points to my lone cabinet, with all of my stuff on it.
Demi - “Yeah! You guys wanna’ see my flower? You’ve got no idea how hard it was to get this thing-”
I move some of my water mass over to the cabinet, and gently move the flower… As fluid and smoothly as I physically can, I place it in front of them.
Kass moves her hand to touch it- I slap it with a water whip! “Demi!” She shouts, as she rubs her hand-
Demi - “No touching! Seriously, you have no idea how much trouble this damn thing gave me. I’m like, worried that if you even touch the glass, it’ll disrupt the air in the container, and then the flower will fall apart, and I’ll have to get a new one.”
She stares at me in disbelief… “No… I mean, I heard these things were delicate… But they can’t really…” She says, as she considers it, and more water protrudes from my body…
“Sorry!” She shouts, as she backs her hands up. I pull in the water, while Stallatia approaches and sits down in front of it… “I hope you don’t mind me asking… But who did it come from?” She asks, surprising the both of us…
Demi - “Oh- Ah-”
Before I can say anything, Kass speaks up first- “Our late mother. She died recently…” She says, as she sits down and stares at it… “I can kind of tell, it’s like she’s here with us…” She adds, as we just stare at it....
Demi - “Here.”
I move the flower back into its spot, while compressing the stored mana into a small crystal ball, and placing it in front of them.
Kass picks it up, just staring into it. “The mana is so dense… How much did you put in it? How do you have so much?!” She asks, as she continues to just stare at it.
Demi - “I simply enchanted my water, gave it the ability to store mana. Gotta’ refill it now, because you had to have a go at my weak spot, and tell me about the super hero.”
Kass and Stallatia just stare at each other in confusion, then at me. “Well, thanks Demi. I hope this’ll finally make that stupid bar budge.” She says, as they begin to walk over to the elevator.
Demi - “Don’t thank me, you DO still owe me for that, after all… And feel free to come get more if need be, it usually only takes me about half a day to get to maximum capacity.”
Kass chuckles a little, and runs off. I watch as the elevator descends, and internally sigh…
Yeah, I’ve always been a fan of heroes, it’s almost nostalgic hearing about heroes existing even in this world. It was only a few months after my birthday, that I died… But it’s kind of hard to imagine that I’m almost an adult.
Although, it’s hard to imagine how physically close to maturity my body is, since it’s like this. I mean, I can create my own offspring, and even edit their mental status… Arivan is currently out consuming biomass in the ocean, so that she may better serve me…
What have I let happen to me? Arivan’s my own daughter, Terminal is my son… Why don’t I feel anything for them, then? I was raised as a human girl until the age of sixteen, so of course I know to care about my children… But I don’t feel anything for them, unlike how I do with my new family...
It frightens me…
“Demitallis Genesis, I presume?”
I dart my view around to spot a strange looking creature, it has some sort of white beating orb inside of it, with a bright green amorphous slime like body that forms into a somewhat human figure surrounding it.
Demi - “Hello? Who are you? How did you get here?”
The beating orb floats to the head, right under its head piece, and rolls in place until a single eye lands on me. It’s wearing loose fitting robes with a sort of armrest. The robes extend down to hide its feet, and is made up of many pieces that to some would seem like they were pieces of cloth that was haphazardly thrown on to cover up its body. Aside from that, it’s covered in many different golden rings and other such accessories, with two golden cuffs covering its wrists to its forearms…
All finished with two large angelic wings protruding from its back.
It falls backwards into a chair, after having snapped its fingers. “I’m Ling, the Pact Master. I’m currently hosting a very special event. With a very special prize. It will be taking place in one month from now.” He says, as a physical invitation appears in his hand, with a flick of his wrist.
Demi - “Maybe… But I gotta’ know! What’s a Pact Master? Also, why me?”
He just stares at me in surprise, his mouth having to pick up the expressional slack of his unnerving eye… “A Pact Master is someone who creates great pacts, through the ancient magic of the Pact Masters. Either between themself and another, or between two people. For a price of course. I’m a little new, so I figured this would be a great way to get my name out there.” He says, as he scratches the back of his head.
“As for your other question… Shouldn’t it be obvious? It’s your Psychic power, and exotic species. I’ve never seen anything quite like you. I was originally planning to invite you when I first heard of you. But then you developed a psychic power! At that point, I just HAD to have you!” He says in excitement, surprising me with all the questions I now have-
Demi - “So it really is a Psychic ability... Do you also have one? Will everyone else have one? Also, can I invite the rest of my family?”
He nods. “Yes! I believe you call it premonition? You can see into the future! Very impressive. I have the power to sense people with Psychic powers, or the latent potential to unlock them... I can also sense when they’re used…” He says, as his cheery tone devolves into a more depressed acceptance… “Yeah, I know... It’s no mind powers, but it has at least lead me to you.” He says, as he sits down in front of me.
Demi - “I think it’s kinda’ cool. Yeah, alright, I think I’ll join this event. What IS it about though?”
He claps his hand, and places the invitation in front of me, leaving it there. “It’s a race, I’m calling it: The Wishling Chase! It’s a play on of wishing, and my name. Oh, and as for that last question- You can bring a FEW of them, sorry, but it would be kind of unfair to the other racers if they had to compete against thousands of others.” He says, as he reforms and hardens his body into multiple examples of what he’s talking about, showing off a weird skill of his…
Demi - “You’re good at that. What ARE you anyways?”
He’s surprised again, he thinks to himself for a moment, then shrugs. “I don’t really know. I assume I’m some sort of magic experiment gone horribly wrong. Doesn’t mean I can’t be a productive member of society!” He says, feeling quite proud of himself.
Demi - “Well, I’m sure you’re busy, and so am I. So if there’s anything you need, by all means.”
He crosses his arms, and sighs- “Well, alright… I was hoping to get to know you a little better, but you’re right. I don’t have anything left after that, just keep an eye on your invitation, and I’ll find you in a month.” He says, before his eye begins to glow.
Demi - “It was nice meeting you, Ling. Goodbye.”
He waves as his eye cuts open a portal in the middle of the air.
And with that, he’s gone. I step out of my nest, and shrink myself in size. I move over to the side of it, and jump off, descending to the streets at high speed.
I look down, and notice one of my brothers, uh oh- "Orval! Above you!” I shout, using my vocal ripple skill! He looks up, and I land in his arms- “Oh my... Demitallis?” He asks, as he simply stares at me…
Demi - “Thanks Orval, and sorry about the surprise. I decided to jump off my tower again, it just turned out you were below me this time.”
Orvalisk Genesis. So get this, big surprise! It turns out there’s Floral Demihumans! They’re Humans who are half plant! Who knew?! Yeah, Orval here is a black rose demihuman.
Orval, like most other demihumans, have normal skin, although it seems to have a barely noticeable tint of green. He likes to wear a tuxedo and a tophat, with his roses growing out of them.
He has a cane, but I don’t think he really needs it for walking... So I like to assume it’s some form of weapon. Like a sword cane!
“You should be more careful, my sister. You never know where you might fall…” He says, his smooth, deep and monotone voice pouring into whatever I have that allows me to hear him.
Demi - “Yeah, I know. Hey… Do you know what a pact master is?”
He’s surprised, his face showing it for only the briefest of moments. “Hmm…” He hums, as he gathers his memories… “I don’t know much… I have heard that their magic is very powerful however. I believe they use something akin to the magic of the Djinn?” He asks, as he looks at one of our sisters.
She thinks to herself, and nods. She was listening? He takes a knee and lowers me to the ground. “Well, there you are, my young sister. Now go on, I’ve been invited to karaoke.” He says surprising me-
Demi - “Wait, we have Karaoke? That exi- Wha-What is that?”
He stops to think, realizing that a baby wouldn’t know what that is… “Ah… I guess you wouldn’t know… Karaoke is often offered by bars as a form of entertainment for its customers. Despite the odd name, it is quite popular. Natalie decided to open up a restaurant, and asked if I would be willing to sing for the unveiling. Anymore questions?” He asks, as I sit here and listen to him tell me about this thing I already know about…
Demi - “That’s pretty cool, I should give it a try sometime. Did I ever tell you how good I am at singing? I wonder how it gets its name-”
I say, as I turn to think, since I never looked up the definition in my- “That’s a good question, actually… I’ve never thought about it before… But wouldn’t a name like Vievolu be better? Or if you wanted something more on the nose, you might call it a: “We-Sing” What does that word MEAN?” He says, as he continues to think about it-
Demi - “We’ll have to find out whoever came up with it, another time. Aren’t you busy?”
He chuckles a little, and thanks me before leaving. I look around as my brothers and sisters continue to pass me by. They all seem to really like spending time with each other outside.
Natalie… She’s a Bengal Tiger! Not a demihuman, but the full tiger. Pretty cool, right?
I roam the streets, as I look for something to do in my considerably smaller body… My aquatic brothers and sisters will occasionally flinch whenever they see me, since they’ve become aware of exactly what I am… Puddle Kids… What even are those stupid things?... Where did they come from?!
I’m not even sure myself… I can tell you all about the functions of our physical body, all of our mental functions. How it differs from a human body, how it’s similar. But I can’t tell you our origins, the information is just not there… It’s been bothering me since I came into being, inside of your head.
Yeah, I know… What’s it like for you? You suddenly pop into my head out of nowhere. Were you overwhelmed by all of the information that you should have learned with me? Or were you prepared to deal with it?
I certainly wasn’t. Surprised the heck out of me! Made it easier to talk to you two though.
Funny enough… For some reason, I WAS prepared. Or kind of? This is one of those things about myself that even I don’t understand…
But you know everything about us. That can’t be okay…
Enough. I need time to ruminate. I’ll tell you when I have an answer. Find me later.
“Hey Demi!” One of my sisters called out to me, sitting with two more of my sisters I haven’t met yet. “How have you been?” She asks, as I approach the table they’re all sitting around.
As I climb on top of the table, I notice my brother Jorn. He’s a honey slime, with a beehive inside of him. I like to watch the bees fly in and out of his body, as they pollinate the flowers, it’s weirdly pretty...
Jorn - “Hello, Demitallis.”
He speaks to me through telepathy, as the other two girls wave at me. “We’ve been hanging out with Jorn. He’s just so sweet!” One of them says, as I stare at them. “So you’re Demitallis, huh? Aside from that one day, we never really got to meet. I’m Ahmpla, and this is Mina. I think you’ve already met Eiko, right?” She asks, as I generate a lime green water inside of my body, and form it into a check mark
They stare at it for a moment, before it clicks for them- “Oh! That’s a funny use of your powers.” Ahmpla says, as she reaches over to pick me up, and get a closer look at my Check Mark.
Demi - “Hah, yeah. Pretty impressive, huh? I had the idea earlier, while I was talking to Kass and Princess Stallatia.”
Mina lights up in excitement, and leans in to get a closer look at me- “Wait, do you mean the Princess of Ryleth? I’ve always wanted to meet her! You’ve gotta’ introduce me to her, next time you see her.” She says, as she suddenly leans in closer to stare me in my nonexistent eyes-
Demi - “Y-Yeah, of course Mina. I’d love to.”
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
I slowly back away, as she relaxes on her bench- “Hey, have you heard of the Celestial College? I was wondering if you had any plans for an advanced career. I hear they can teach anything there.” Eiko says, reminding me of the premonition-
Demi - “Oh, yeah actually. I was going to ask Demistar about it- Would they know about Puddle Kids?”
They’re surprised by my questions, and Eiko has to think about it for a moment. “Oh, yeah they probably would… Hey, Jorn- Do you think Demi here would make a convincing Slime? Like a blue one?” Eiko asks, as jorn just sits there, his lack of and form of facial expression telling me nothing about what he’s thinking…
Jorn - “I suppose. Slimes are sticky though, there’s a difference between holding yourself together, and just being sticky. I guess if you could alter your consistency, then it should be fine. Oh, but don’t crush things when eating, slimes usually dissolve their food-”
I suddenly have an idea, as I begin to ignore him-
Demi - “OH MY GOD- Does anyone know how to use mythical water magic?!”
They nearly clench their heads, as I accidentally shout through telepathy- “Demi- Come on girl- Haven’t you been told not to do that? I’m pretty sure Kass knows it, and Steriya might. Aside from that, there’s probably a bunch of us who know how to use mythical elements, but I wouldn’t know who.” Ampla says, giving me another idea!
Demi - “Just ask, we’re surrounded by hundreds of our family! I’m sure they’d love to help!”
Ampla nods, and stands on top of the bench- “HEY!!!” She shouts, her voice tearing through the air, and grabbing everyone's attention- “Does anyone know how to use mythical water magic?!” She continues, causing them all to look between each other- Three of them raise their hands!
Ampla points to one of our brothers- “You, come help us out!” She says, causing him to apologize to the others, and run over.
He arrives, and looks at me and Jorn. “Oh- Demitallis?” He asks, as he stares at me.
Demi - “Eyup. I was hoping you could use your water magic to try and make some sort of sticky water. Something like Jorn’s body, but it has to be water, so I can move my essence into it.”
He holds his hand above an open spot on the table, and a squishy orb of water falls from his hand- “There you go, see if you can work with that.” He says, as I begin to move my mass around it.
I move my essence inside, and it works- Water explodes from the area outside of my body… I guess I should have probably consumed it…
Demi - “Wow, it actually worked! I don’t have to hold myself together in this body! Thanks, uh-”
“Quillion. My name is Quillion-Genesis. It’s nice to meet you too, Demitallis.” He says, as he sits down, and stares at me…
Demi - “Yeah, sorry, I was a little too focused on my idea… How do you make this stuff? I want to be able to build my own body out of it.”
He thinks for a moment, then speaks up- “The water itself isn’t actually sticky, I’m just using mana to give it a sort of magnetic pull to itself, and anything that comes near it. It requires an incredible understanding of every facet of how water works, to even achieve something like this. And that’s how you learn to use Mythical Water Magic.” He says, as he shows me things he can do with water, that I could have never imagined…
Demi - “I see. It’ll be a long time before I ever learn something like that then. Thank you again for your help. I think you should get back to your friends though.”
He nods, and walks away. Most likely to talk to our other siblings about what just happened here. “I’m sure if you got Kass away from that martial arts training of her’s for a while, she could probably teach you everything about it. I mean, she already has four, right? So she probably knows how to learn them really quickly, and thus would be able to teach you them really quickly.” Ampla says, as I move over to the side of the bench.
Demi - “Yeah, alright. Thanks for hanging out with me. I’m gonna’ head back to my room, and see if I can contact Kass and Stallatia.”
The girls gently wave as I depart from the table, and I teleport to my room again…
This teleporter has come in very handy, as of late.
Yeah, it’s great. I really should learn some sort of teleport skill. Demistar was working on that one teleport skill, maybe I could get some sort of roadmap for it.
Any teleport skills we find would probably cost tons of mana though, aside from things like Space Magic’s teleport. Or would it cost more?
I build water around my new body, causing my nest to fill with water. “Demi, when did you get- Oh right, the teleporter-” Kass suddenly says, surprising me with the fact that she’s even here…
Demi - “Why are you in my room?”
She just stares down at me from my nest, but suddenly Sari walks up next to her, a weird suit in her hands. “Sari has procured the suit copy. Sadly, it also does not have much mana.” She says, as I reach out and grab it.
Demi - “Ah! I should have realized. So do you guys need anymore mana? Or is what I gave you enough?”
Kass shakes her head, and sits down. “Honestly, I don’t know what it is. These suits take up so much friggin’ mana. The amount you gave us didn’t even dent it.” She says, as I look at the copy of the suit, and form another idea in my head-
Demi - “I see. Maybe I can ask Demistar, or one of her brothers, or sisters. Each of them probably has hundreds of times more mana than I do.”
Demistar appears next to Kass, surprising her- “I said I’m not helping.” She says, about to disappear, but I stop her-
Demi - “No- Wait- I also wanted to ask you about some things! And if that premonition has told me anything, it’s told me that you CAN stick around and help me! So no more excuses!”
She just stares at me, and folds her arm, a less than pleased look on her face. “FINE.” She says, as she sits down. “Are you sure you can’t give us a LITTLE mana?” Kass asks, but Demistar just stares daggers into her. “Alright- Alright- Sorry…” She says, before backing away…
Demistar looks at it. “Right, Esoterrastar. Another person who shared the word Star in their name. I don’t know why people use it so much. You know, the old Queen of Ryleth- Before Stallatia’s grandmother- once wore that suit. She used it to wipe out-” I fire a bearing shot at her head, blasting it to pieces!
Demi - “Demistar!”
Her head reforms, the three kids in the room a little scared and confused- “No worries, I’m not hurt. Sorry about that, I guess I got kind of carried away. But yeah, it might be for the best, that you guys don’t know. Anyways, what did you want to know, Tallis?” She asks, surprising me with the new nickname-
Demi - “Tallis? Did you really take out my Demi?”
She just kind of shrugs, and sits down with everyone. “Yeah~, you’re right, it kinda sucks. It’s what connects us Demis. Man, I HAVE to introduce you to Demitrivan!” Before I can say anything, Kass lights up with realization- “You mean the Time Traveler? My brother Dart and I met her! She was really nice.” She says, surprising the both of us…
Demistar shifts in place a little, and turns towards her. “Ah, so somebody here actually kind of knows her. Yeah, Demitrivan is one of the only other people I know who have a name that starts with Demi. Demitrivan rules over time, she’s Arigold’s rival.” She says, reminding me of that little tidbit.
Demi - “Right! That’s one of the things I wanted to ask about! Does Liyoxis and Lian have a rival? They rule over mind, right? And who is it?”
The atmosphere drops, as realization comes to her… She suddenly appears in front of me, her hands resting in my pond, as though she’s trying to grab my shoulders- “Demitallis. Listen. I don’t know what you saw. But if you trust me to any extent. Then you will avoid all contact to this guy. Liyoxis and Lian’s rival is a boy named Solar. Out of everyone in the world, even more so than people like Skall, Arigold, or even Martial, out of everyone in the world, he’s the most dangerous. PERIOD.I’m serious, Demitallis.” She says, as I grow increasingly nervous…
Demi - “How bad can he be?...”
She shakes her head. “No. Listen. Arigold is just misguided. Martial and him ARE stronger than Solar, but they don’t actively hunt people down like Solar does. Solar is a genocidal maniac. I don’t know why he is the way he is, but he is. There’s no reasoning with the kid. He WILL kill you.” She says, really trying to drive the point home…
Demi - “Alright- Alright- I’m sorry- Are ANY of the World Powers nice? I don’t want to be rude, but from what I’ve been hearing…”
She stops, and relaxes. “No, that’s the extent of it. I’m sorry, I should have told you sooner. Arigold, Martial, Serif, and Solar really are the only four that are dangerous to any extent. All of the world powers of course have their history, and they didn’t get to where they are, by being perfect angels. But those four are the only ones that’ll willingly commit such horrible acts. Solar is just the worst of them, he’s like, actually evil or something.” She says, as she shows me pictures of each one…
She ends the set on a picture of Solar… He’s pretty- Well, I mean, he’s obviously still a kid. But his dad must have really good looks... “As for kind ones, I guess you would look no further than his sister, Luna.” She says, as she in turn shows me a picture of the most beautiful GIRL I’ve ever seen...
She drops the hologram, and continues- “Luna rules over the Void. Nobody knows why she has power over it. Some say she’s the person who bridges the gap between the world, and the void.” She says, as she shows everyone video recordings of both Luna and Solar.
She drops the hologram again, and rests on her back, you’d almost forget she’s not actually human, with how naturally she moves... “It’s almost poetic, when you think about it... Her and her brother... Heart Magic- Supposedly- could bring people back from the dead… While void on the other hand, when it consumes something, that something is therefore gone, it’s become part of the void, and there’s no returning it.” She continues, diving deep into detail about these people...
She sits up again, and just kind of gestures… “It’s the only true way to kill someone, even their soul. So it's both a curse and a blessing. If Luna was the one who ruled over Heart Magic, she could bring people back… But if Solar ruled over Void… Well, that could be apocalyptic…” She says, before just stopping the entire explanation-
“Alright, that’s enough. I can get stressed out too, kids. Even I have trouble trying to sort through this mess.” Demistar says, as she folds her arms.
Kass suddenly speaks up again, surprising me with what she says- “You’re really comfortable around Demi- Demitallis, huh? Not that I know you, or anything… But you just seem so relaxed, in a weird way?” She says, as she tries to work out the mind of a super computer in her head.
Demistar on the other hand, for the first time I’ve ever seen her... Is she dumbfounded? “You’re right… I mean, the world powers stress me out more than anything… But Demitallis here, I’m just so relaxed around her…” She says, as she gestures to me.
Demi - “Well, I DO like to think I’m pretty charismatic.”
They just stare at me, before Kass gives a soft, but audible gesture of disagreement. “EH~... No. Sorry Demi.” She says, as she kind of just shrugs with her shoulders.
Demi - “Demistar?”
She just kind of looks away, and shrugs too. “No answer.” She says, as she stares at Stallatia, who I can only assume has been looking for a place to hide.
Demi - “Hey, Stallatia- Are you still scared of me?”
She suddenly turns around- “N-No!” She calls out, before running to hide behind Kass again…
Demistar just relaxes her head in her hands, and speaks up. “You know, I’m legit hundreds of times more powerful than she is. I’m surprised you two aren’t hiding behind ME. I mean, I’ve KILLED Puddle Kids before.” She says, as she ignites her blade…
Demi - “I have feelings too, you know.”
Stallatia tries, but Kass stops her, and looks her in the eyes. “Good kid.” Demistar says, surprising the two. “Demitallis here is honest, I can tell. She might be a little full of herself, but yeah, she’s honest. Almost to a fault, really.” She says, annoying me a little...
Demi - “I’m not honest to a fault… I’ve got my own secrets too, ya’ know- And don’t ask, I’m not tellin’!”
They stare at me, unsure of what to say in response to my declaration of dishonesty. “Well, what can ya’ do.” She says, shrugging it off.
Demi - “Right… I should mention, I got an invitation to a race. It’s called the Wishling-Chase. A person named Ling invited me, he called himself a Pact Master.”
Demistar quickly speaks up, once I finish- “Did you accept it?” She asks, with a serious look on her face.
Demi - “Alright, before you criticize me, I’m still like, a month or two old. Yeah, I might have accepted it…”
Demistar slams her palm into her face, and rubs it… “Oh Demitallis… Pact Masters are very dangerous. Pact Magic is as powerful as the sins, dwarfed only by the Twelve.” She says, mentioning what I can only assume is another type of magic I don’t know.
Demi - “Still only a few months. What are the sins?”
“I’m not actually sure.” She says, as she thinks about it. “They’re almost as old as the Twelve, while Pact Magic was only created a few thousand years ago. So very little info is known about them. It’s like some sort of ‘Forbidden Magic’ I know, dumb. But supposedly if you were to learn one, you would go insane.” I was wondering when I would start learning of this forbidden magic. It’s too cool not to exist here.
Kass cuts in though, before I can say anything- “Stallatia, let’s go see if we can find Sirius, he should be able to help with charging the suits.” She says, as she stretches before standing up.
Demistar follows suit, and folds her arms. “Yeah, I’m kinda’ bored of all the talking too. You two have some bad guys to take care of anyways.” She says, her wings suddenly appearing on her back again-
Demi - “Wait! I’m not done yet! I have more questions!”
Demistar just sighs, and sits back down. “Fine! What?” She says, staring daggers into me...
Demi - “Jeez, sorry… First: Do you know anyone who can use weird cloud portal things-”
“Solasara!” Stallatia chimes in, while I’m listing off my questions- She must have met her!
Demi - “Second: While I’m on it- Can you tell me what’s going on with the moon? Third: What ARE psychic powers? How did mine manifest? And will it go away? Also, is there a way to maybe transfer it? Fourth: Why do these suits take up so much mana? Fifth: Does anyone know where Sari went?”
They just stare at me, a mix of disbelief and confusion on their faces- “Demi…” Sari says as she lies on my surface- Oh… “How?” She asks, as she stares down at me…
Demi - “I never realized… Why didn’t you speak up?!”
She sits up, still staring at me in disbelief. “Sari thought you knew! What do you mean?!” She asks, as I sit here and contemplate how this even happened…
“She kind of just crawled onto your back, while you were admiring your costume.” Kass says, as I look at the suit that’s been floating inside of me… I guess I’ve gotten so used to it...
Demistar speaks up, now that my question has been answered. “Right, Solasara. She’s a mercenary. She’s not particularly strong, but her portal magic is strong. I didn’t know she could actually reach the moon, but it’s not surprising. You and Sirius both probably outweigh her in sheer might. But it would be safer if you take down Fallengrar with a strike force. Although, as long as she’s on his payroll, she’ll probably come looking for him.” She explains, as she shows us illustrations of her, and her powers. “I’m not certain how well she can use these powers, so be careful.” She finishes, as she moves onto the next topic.
Kass and Stallatia step onto the elevator, they’re probably gonna’ go find Sirius now. “As for the Moons. I assume it’s magic that keeps them in their weird orbit. Most people believe that it’s some sort of ancient technology. It’s not like it’s beyond our own capability, so an old moon civilization doesn’t sound entirely implausible.” She says, while showing me close up images of the three moons.
I watch as she shows me weird landscapes and cities dotted around on the purple and yellow moons. But nothing of the middle moon.
Demi - “How about the one they’re linked to? Don’t you have any pictures of its surface?”
She shakes her head, and just shows me a video recording of a ship flying in. “This shuttle was named; ‘The Endless Odyssey’ But it never never returned. Nobody knows what happened to her and her crew, otherwise.” She says, as I stare at the empty space the shuttle fell through…
She shows me what looks to be an old story- “This happened thousands of years before I was born, of course. And a lot of what happened back then is clouded in mystery, but it was one of my favorite stories growing up. I guess I also found the ironic tragedy of a ship being named the ‘Endless Odyssey’ weirdly amusing. Yeah no, I’m guessing it didn’t pan out as they expected.” She says, as she shows me artistic illustrations of what the crew looked like.
Demi - “How long ago WAS this, anyways?”
“Supposedly, it was around thirty thousand years ago. I know, it’s hard to imagine that civilization has been around that long, and we’re all still on the same planet our ancestors walked.”
Demi - “But why? Thousands and thousands of years… And you’ve never ventured outside of your planet? Why?”
She shows me images of desolate planets, as she explains... “Well, we HAVE ventured outside of Orion. But there’s not really much out there. Besides, we decided we need to deal with the problems here on Orion first.” She says, as she uses more images to remind me of the threats I’m already dealing with.
“I mean, there’s a few interesting planets, but from what our short escapes have revealed, there really just isn’t that much to look at.” She continues, as she shows me more barren wastelands… “Now, let’s move onto psychic powers…”
She shows me a list of all kinds of people who can use Psychic Powers. “Psychic Powers aren’t as rare as you may think. Usually, they’re inherited, but on rare occasions, they may manifest. I’m assuming you manifested some sort of recovery ability. I believe you have the power to recover and assimilate Psychic Powers that were once lost. Like with what happened to, um…” She draws out… Pulling her legs in…
Demi - “Sari, I think it’s time you head out too.”
Sari just frowns, and climbs off of me, heading for the elevator…
Demi - “Sorry…”
She turns around-
Demi - “Ah- As in: Sorry for making you leave-”
She turns back to the elevator, and it descends… Good lord… She makes it look like I hurt her feelings or something…
Demi - “Like Rigel?”
I ask, and she nods melancholically. “Yeah…” She says, as she sits there, curled up in the fetal position…
Demi - “Do you miss her? I only saw so much… I didn’t know her like you did…”
She relaxes and crosses her legs again. “I’m sorry… This happened hundreds of years before you were even conceived… It’s not your weight to bear. Right, psychic powers. Yours seems to have recovered Rigel’s… I’m not sure what sparked it, but it did. As for whether it will go away or not… I’m not sure, I know the main ability will stay, but it may have some sort of limit.”
Demi - “In case it doesn’t… I’m going to assume stockpiling tons of abilities won’t actually kill me. Right?”
She just stares at me, then considers it for a moment- “Nope. You’re fine. It’s rare, but you’re not the first person to achieve some sort of stockpiling power. Funny enough, yours is on the weaker end, believe it or not.” She says, making me disappointed, even if still somewhat relieved.
Demistar suddenly dashes inside of me- She appears on top of me, while holding my superhero costume. “Do you think… If you were to wear this, would you be able to pretend to be human?” She asks, as the realization suddenly hits me…
Demi - “We have to try, RIGHT NOW!”
About five minutes later, we found out that no, this did not work… I am now a water balloon. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined… “Come on, Demitallis… I think it looks really cute…” She says, as I stare at myself in the mirror she made for me…
Demi - “My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined…”
She laughs at me, even though I assume she didn’t get the joke. “Don’t be that way… All you need is just a different suit, that doesn’t morph to your body shape. It’s actually very impressive that it can morph to this extent.” She says, as she stretches the suit, surprisingly safely morphing my body with it.
Demi - “Well, it’s pretty protective, at least. You still need to answer my question, though.”
“Isn’t it obvious? It’s stuffed full of hundreds of different functions and abilities. Not to mention its weakened state. Sari’s ability is incredible, but it can’t replicate a super weapon.” She says, as I try to figure out how I’m supposed to get out of this stupid thing-
Demi - “I don’t know why I didn’t think of that- Can I get some help?”
She quickly assists me with the suit-
Demi - “Thanks- How powerful IS the suit anyways? You mentioned some sort of Super Weapon? It’s weakened?”
She pulls the suit off of me, and it morphs back into its original shape. “We should make you something like this, but make it to where it can like, stretch endlessly or something.” She says, before answering my question. “Right. Sari probably isn’t on the higher end for mana values, and I’ve seen the original suit. The original one is many times denser in its material, and mana values than all three of the copies combined. But the suits are smart, so they’re sapping away tiny unnoticeable traces of mana from any source they can find.” She continues, making it all clear.
Demi - “Alright. Well, thanks for answering all of my questions. And thank you for your patience… And hey, I know I wasn’t there, but I’ve seen it too now. So please, when you’re ready, please talk to me about it.”
She stares at me, and ignites her blade, sighing as we watch it glow and distort the air around it. “Alright. We’ll talk about it. You’re just a stupid kid, you’ve beared witness to the atrocities of Queen Regelask. You at least deserve to process it. Besides, maybe it’ll be nice having someone to share it with…” The blade suddenly shatters and scatters into nothingness as her hand reforms to its usual state.
Demi - “Thank you. Goodbye.”
She nods, and disappears… You know, nobody has ever been as open with me, as she has… I mean, I always had my friends, but they always stayed somewhat distant. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why I wanted to get into the show business as a stunt woman. Or maybe it’s just a small part of what was once a collective that brought me to the desire.
