Pollux, Sirius… Why are those names so familiar?.. In this world, my mind is supposed to remember EVERYTHING.. So why can’t remember those names?!
Oh, now I get it.. They’re from my past life!
Chamber. What’s going on? Why can’t I remember those names?
It’s as you said, they’re from your past life, it’s getting harder and harder to remember everything from your past life, than it was when we first appeared. I can only assume you subconsciously decided that info was no longer useful, since you’re on a completely different planet, in a completely different universe.
Well, do we have any info on it?
Yes, but it’ll take me a while to find it, so stop trying to forget everything about your past life, you’ve got more than enough storage for it, and then some.
You said it was subconscious, so I’m not sure how well I can actually DO that, but I’ll try.
Ster - “Hey, Demi, come home, we need you.”
Demi - “Oh, are we meeting up with the Chief of Police?”
Ster - “Yeah, he’s got everything figured out, we’re gonna’ be moving forward with the plan.”
Well, I better get moving then.
I appear on the teleport pad, and I meet up with Flare. “Hi Demi! I’m here to take you to the meeting place!” She says, as she floats in front of me.
Demi - “Let’s get going then. Where are we headed?”
“The Tower, they’re waiting at the entrance for you.” She says, as she guides me towards my tower. Well, it’s not mine in particular, but instead where my room is. But you knew that already.
We arrive, and I spot them before they spot me. My sisters Vexalan and Steriya are here. While on the other hand, Graldin, and a girl I can only assume is his assistant.
Demi - “Hi guys.”
They all look around quickly, until their eyes land on me. “Ah- Good, you’re here! You must be the puddle kid!” An octopus demi-human- Wait a minute-
Demi - “Hey, are you an octopus demi-human?”
They seem surprised, but nod. “Yes, isn’t it obvious by my tentacles?” They’re right, they have eight tentacles growing out of their back. But Sirius had..
Demi - “Oh, yeah, sorry, I was just making sure.”
“It’s no problem. You must be Demitallis, right?” She asks me, as she walks over.
Demi - “Yes, Demitallis I am. What’s your name?”
She looks up at me, and how large I am. I’m so big, I can barely fit in the large area in front of the tower, and I doubt I could even fit through the door anymore. “I’m Reginastra Silversteel. But you can just call me Regina.” She says, as she adjusts her glasses with one of her tentacles. They’re quite flexible. Mr. Graldin over there mostly just has that weird tentacles on his face. I think he also has some fins, but they’re pretty covered up. To be honest, his uniform REALLY covers everything. Large guy too. Anyways, let’s move on.
Demi - “Well met Regina, but I really think we should get started.”
Regina is surprised, but quickly gathers herself. “Right, sorry, I got a little overexcited. I’ve never seen a puddle kid before, and I-” She’s quickly interrupted by the others, and remembers that she’s getting off topic again. “Sorry, let’s head to the uh-” She just looks at the others, until she looks back at me, and realizes I probably wouldn’t fit in a single room.
Demi - “Well, I guess I have no choice!”
They all watch as I begin to shrink in size. “Oh right, you can make yourself smaller…” Flare says, as I continue to become smaller and smaller. I grow right down to my birth size, and I sit on the floor, looking up at everyone. “You’re so tiny now, I could fit you in my pocket!” Regina picks up my bowl. “How are you able to do something like this?” She asks me, staring right at me.. Alright, I have to-
Demi - “WELL~ I can control my Essence! And concentrate it into a smaller area, or I can spread it out to millions of times my current size! So I can effectively decide how large I want to be, by consuming my core, and expanding the water inside it with Water magic. Best part you ask? Even at this small size, I can still crush with one point five million PSI of crushing force!”
Everyone but Regina backs away. “At such a small size too, your species shows no end to their surprises!” She says as she places her hand on my surface. “It’s cold, and soft, and squishy.” She molds my tiny body around her hand, and picks me up from my bowl. “Guys, can you believe this?!” The others just stare at her impatiently, as she continues to smile. “Can you please stop wasting everyone’s time?” Steriya says. … The octopus girl’s expression doesn’t change for a moment, until she acknowledges what Vexalan said, and she apologises.
We enter a room with a few seats and a table. I’m placed on the center of the table, and everyone pulls up a chair. Every now and then one of my siblings will pass by, Vexalan and Flare will of course greet them, but the passers by won’t bother us for too long.
“Shall we begin then? There’s much to discuss.” Regina says, as she pulls out some documents.
Sirius, it’s the name of a star. So is Pollux. These were almost completely forgotten, since before you even died. Do you think there might be any correlation between Sirius and Pollux?
Might be, I’ll quickly gather information-
Demi - “Hey, before we start.. I need to know something. Does Pollux have any known relatives or family members? Also, somebody call over Celest, I have a few questions for her too.”
They all looked at me surprised. Vexalan closes her eyes, while Regina thinks for a moment. “No, I don’t believe so. Nobody has seen him in a long time though, we assumed he went into hiding.”
Demi - “Do we know what SPECIES he is?”
Celestibelle arrives through the door, surprisingly quickly. “What’s up? Could it be you need my immaculate comedy routine?” She says, with that grin of her’s.
Demi - “Celest, you’re in your human form, but you’re a nine tails, there’s no such thing as a nine-tails demi-human. Right?”
She stares at me confused for a moment, but nods. “Yeah, of course. Why do you ask?”
Demi - “Right, you don’t even look like a traditional demi-human, your body structure is completely human, aside from some minute details.”
“Yes, you have that right. Why are you asking me this?” She says, as everyone begins to piece it together.
Demi - “Do you have records of what Pollux looked like, Regina?”
She pulls out a picture of Pollux, and shows it to me. A tall, massive man, with what looks to be an octopus growing out of his head. Celest snatches the picture away, and stares at it intensely. “Haha, oh boy. This the guy you’re supposed to be fighting?” She asks, as she giggles away.
Demi - “Yes. What’s up?”
“Man, you’ve got your work cut out for you this time then. This guy’s probably strong enough to tear apart Ryleth itself, all on his own. You’re not dealing with a demi-human, you’re dealing with a Legendary Beast, like Galistar and I.” She continues, leaving everyone in either shock or disbelief. “How can you be so sure? He’s been harassing the kingdom for years! Why wouldn’t he just destroy or conquer it already?” Celest places the picture on the table, and looks at Regina. “First off, it’s my business to know. Nothing more, nothing less. And second, that would put too much heat on him, he’s strong, he’s REALLY strong. But the forces that would be sent to take back or avenge Ryleth would probably easily overwhelm him.” She looks back down at the picture, then starts rubbing her chin. “Still though.. I’m starting to think you shouldn’t fight this guy. I can’t really get an estimate of your strength, like I can for Pollux here..”
Demi - “I’m the strongest member of our family, I’ve outpaced everyone everyone by leagues! Even Calvin and Celscy! How strong IS this guy?!”
“As I said, he could wipe out all of Ryteth if he so chose. Do you think you could do something like that, if you tried?” She continues, as she leans over to look me directly in my non-existent eyes...
Demi - “You’re right, it’s too large for even my maximum size, even if I tried to crush it under my immense pressure, I’d ultimately fail. And I definitely don’t have the power to destroy it otherwise.. Is... Is he really that strong?”
She nods. “Yep. Listen Demi, you have to cancel this deal, and give up. He’s just too powerful, for even you.” She continues, confirming everyone’s fears.
Demi - “Are we SURE he’s still around? Has anything about a possible death come up recently?”
Graldin slams a sheet of paper on the desk, and shows it off to everyone. It’s a document, stating that he had died, killed by some kid named Marshall, he’s shirtless, but has white baggy pants with a large belt and buckle. There’s even a picture of the kid holding up the corpse, shouting something. “Wait- Is that Marshall Neworld?!” Regina exclaims, causing Graldin to nod with a serious look on his face. “But, he resurfaced a month later, and started up again- How could he have survived?! There’s no way anyone could survive against HIM!” She continues, trying to piece it all together.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Demi - “I think I might know how…”
Everyone stopped, they were frantically looking through documents trying to figure out how, until I spoke up. “Wait- What? What do you mean?” Regina says, as everyone’s attention lands on me.
Demi - “I was outside exploring the area around Ryleth, and I met a kid named Sirius. At first I thought he was a normal octopus demi-human, until I met you, Regina. Now I’m not so sure. I think he might be the son of Pollux. I’m still not sure though, he told me he was a mercenary on a job, and I helped him out. He still owes me for what I helped him out with. So if he IS who I think he is, then maybe we could use that to lure him in?”
“What are the chances?...” Vexalan says, as she conveys the same look of surprise and disbelief as everyone else. “That would explain a lot, actually.. There is a corpse, but everyone thought it was fake. They ran DNA tests, and it was positive that it was him, but nobody was sure! Celest, right? You said Pollux is a legendary creature, right?” Celest nods, having moved to the armrest of the recliner Vexalan chose to move into here. Yeah, she moved an entire recliner into this room. “You know, it's kind of ironic, since I have a friend named Sirius, it’s actually a pretty common name among legendary creatures. Anyways, this means he isn’t a demi-human. But it’s not really my place to tell you what species he is, you’ll have to figure that out for yourself. There’s rules and what not.” She’s really serious about those rules of her’s.
Demi - “What ARE the rules then?”
She just looks at me, then thinks to herself for a moment. “I guess it would be fine.. Rule one, is that we’re not allowed to give out any information about any individual Legendary Creature, but ourself. You see, Legendaries like me can spot each other, and learn almost everything about their current self. With the exception of memories, their past, and their future. Even pictures like the two you’ve shown me have given me tons of information about Pollux. The reason this rule was instated, was because it’s too easy to give out personal information between Legendary Creatures. If I did it, then I would be hunted. Now there IS a weird legal borderline in that we CAN say what they’re not, and give info on deceased legendaries, but it’s very risky. So even telling you what I have about him could threaten my life.” She finishes her brief explanation of the rules. Everyone just stares at her speechless, emotions of gratitude for what she has provided, and pity for what she must be going through.
Demi - “Is that for real? Well, thank you for everything you HAVE provided to us, Celest.”
The others thank her too, and she gives us a simple nod of acceptance.
Hey, new quest, we gotta’ avenge Mother and our Family. Oh, wait, it’s a group quest? Everyone’s got it. I didn’t even know that was a thing…
Wait- Like, EVERYONE everyone?
Well, everyone under the Genesis Family name.
There’s like, twenty thousand of us! Reward must be amazing.
We have to defeat Arigold, who’s considered the strongest, so yeh. Not to mention EVERYONE has this quest, we might get twenty thousand times the reward.
Damn. Sucks that it’ll be so long before that happens.. Reward better make it all worth it.
Yep.
Oh, hey Fear, you’ve been pretty silent.
Yeah, I haven’t had much to do, I just wanted to be included.
Neat.
Let’s move on.
“Let’s move on. Thanks to DEMITALLIS, we now know that Pollux may have a son named Sirius. Demitallis, it’s up to you to capture this Sirius, or Pollux in case he somehow survived Marshall.” Celest seems to appreciate what Regina says, as she places her hands behind her head. “I really hope he’s not alive, otherwise the others would definitely be after me.” Celest says, making everyone look at her again. “Right.. Anyways, you’ll have the support of the Army on your side Demitallis, and the police force will prepare barricades in case we’re attacked. Preparation will take a few days, so you should focus on finding the target. Especially if he’s as dangerous as we think he is. Since you and your family aren’t officially associated with Ryleth or any country, you have the freedom to attack them without any major repercussions. Now, I think we’re just about done, you have your mission, and-”
Just before we can finish, we hear some noises from the door, until a body is sent flying through, with Tenztore in the doorway, and Calbdin standing behind him. “That bastard was spying on you!” He shouts, as she darts past everyone, and picks the man up with his foot, and equips his weapons as he slams the spy’s neck against the wall.. “Who sent you?!” Everyone continues to process what has just happened, as the man stares at him with a mean expression.
Demi - “What is going on?”
Tenztore looks around to find, me then notices the bowl. “Demitallis, is that you?” He says, as he continues to hold the man against the wall. “He’s been listening during the whole conversation, luckily though, Calbdin managed to find him before he could get away.” I flow out of my bowl, and over to Tenztore.
Demi - “Pick me up, I want to look at him.”
He looks confused for a moment, but he complies. He puts away one of his weapons, and picks me up after I crawl onto his hand. He lifts me up and holds me in front of the supposed Spy.
Demi - “Do you work for a man named Sirius?”
He looks surprised, so it’s true. “H-How did-”
Demi - “I met him a while ago, at first I had no idea he had anything to do with Pollux, but well, now I’m certain he does. I hope he’s been better to you than his dad, the kid seemed pretty nice when I met him. The pictures of his dad on the other hand, well, he looked like a horrible person.”
“Don’t you dare say that about his greatness! He was more amazing than you could have ever imagined!” He shouts in a blind rage. Good..
Demi - “So he IS dead.”
He looks surprised again.. “Wait, what?” He says, as he tries to process this information.
Demi - “You’re not very smart.. Are you? I think Sirius either had a little too much faith in your ability, you were his only option, OR~ he didn’t want to risk someone valuable. Can’t imagine YOU’RE worth much, if you got caught by a bunch of children.”
He kicks Tenztore away, and I’m sent flying into the wall. Ow.. “No! Sirius is a good kid! He wouldn’t throw lives away like that! He had- He has faith in me! Just like Master Pollux!” He breaks down the wall, and tries to get away, but not before the guardians can stop him.
Demi - “Tenztore. Take me to him.”
Only now do I notice that everyone’s looking at me a little weirdly, even Tenztore.. For goodness sake..
Demi - “Tenztore!”
He finally realizes what I said, and appears next to me, picking me up. He carries me gently over to the guy again. My siblings just stare at Tenztore and I, as we stop right behind the guy.
Demi - “Nice escape attempt, we’ll have you taken to the proper authorities in Ryleth for questioning, and we’ll get info out of you.”
The Guardians nod, and take him away. Tenztore carries me back to my bowl, and I jump back into it.
Demi - “Well, that was fun.”
“That was almost scary, Demi. I didn’t know you had these kinds of skills.” Steriya says, as she leans over from her chair.
Demi - “That’s actually the best I had, I mostly got lucky that the guy was still way worse than me. I think I was mostly just pissed he managed to get into the castle, AND listen in without us noticing.”
The wall finally begins repairing itself. . “Well, there’s no need to worry about information getting out, Steriya and I with Liyoxis made sure the castle’s defenses would scramble any unauthorised communications.” Vexalan says, putting everyone’s worries to rest.
Demi - “Thanks Tenztore, imagine if he got out with that info..”
Tenztore simple nods, then speaks up again. “Right, me and Calbdin needed to talk to you about some’n, but later.” He finishes, leaving us in the room.
“Well then. I’m glad that’s over, you have a good family Demitallis. Anyways, would you like to help me do some research?” This took me a little by surprise. “I’m a scientist, I’m mostly working this job for Mr. Graldin as a side gig, to fund my research. Until you appeared, I thought I was never gonna’ get my chance at a puddle kid.” She says, as she slowly leans forward.. Well, I think it’s time for another test drive..
Everyone watches as I jump out of my bowl, and blast out a new one onto the table. I fall into it, and grow in size, until I have to hold myself together. I jump out and into the other bowl again.
I think I’ll name you: “Terminal.”
Term - “Hello everyone.”
A young male voice lights up over the telepathy network, and everyone’s faces light up in surprise. “D-Demi, d-did you just-” Celest says, as she picks up the second bowl.
Demi - “Say hello to my new son: ‘Terminal’ Everyone.”
Everyone just stares at the second bowl of water, as Terminal compresses himself into an orb. Just like Arivan, he has all my Skills. It’s honestly incredible that I can pass them on like this, and completely broken. Everyone greets Terminal, unable to figure out how to process this.
Term - “I’ll be accompanying you with your research projects, Ms. Regina.”
She simply nods, and picks up his bowl. “This.. This is amazing… Can you really just create them this casually?" She says, as she looks over at me.
Demi - “It actually hits me pretty hard Essence-wise. I have to condense enough of mine to create something new, so I’m a little weaker now.”
“Well that makes sense, you did just give birth.” She says, as Terminal climbs out of his bowl, and onto her arm. “O-Oh, h-hello there.” She says, as she watches him crawl around on her arm, tickling her.
Demi - “Make sure to take good care of him, Regina. He can fuel himself with his mana, but if you want him to get bigger, you’ll have to give him food.”
She nods, as he continues to crawl around her body. “Y-Yeah, thank you Demitallis. I’ll cherish him.” He sets himself on her shoulder, and she finally stands up. “Well, I guess it’s time to go Graldin.” She says with a warm smile, as she plucks Terminal from her shoulder.
Demi - “Oh right, I left some stuff out here and there so you can teach him stuff too.”
She simply nods, as Graldin and her stand up to leave. “Bye Demitallis, and thank you again.” She finishes as she exited the room, while Graldin simply waved his hand. “So what do you guys think are the chances that I’ll be killed?” Celest says, as she falls over, and rests her back on Vexalan’s legs, surprising the cat girl. “Celest, get off me.” Vexalan says, as Celest ignores her. “Nah, too comfy.”
Demi - “Well, I already figured he was some sort of Legendary Creature. I assume he’s most likely a kraken, because I don’t know about many other legendary creatures with tentacles. So really, you only have to worry if Pollux IS dead.”
She simply nods, it can’t be easy, knowing you might die.. Jeez, I can’t even say anything to her...
Demi - “Well, even if he IS alive, I’m sure we could stop them!”
She shakes her head. “There exists Legendary Creatures that could kill World Powers, there’s no way you could stop all of them, just make sure he’s not alive for me. Alright?” She says, as she finally picks herself up. Even now, she refuses to drop that grin. “I’mma’ get goin’, Demi, see ya’.” She says, as she walks out the door, waving us bye. “Tenztore and Calbdin still wanted to talk to you, they’re probably waiting for you right now.” Steriya says as she stands up, along with Vexalan. “Bye, Demi.” Vexalan says as they exit the room together.
I guess I better get going too.
I exit the room, and I spot Steriya and Vexalan talking with Tenztore and Calbdin. I see them laugh, then they leave. The two boys spot me, and approach. “Hey, we got a message from Meta, she said her brood is ready to move over to the island.”
Demi - “Already? That was quicker than I thought, I hope there’s enough room.”
They simply nod in agreement, and we exit the castle.
End of Chapter: 24 “Dangers abound, everything is finally set in motion!"
Thank you for reading.
“O-Oh, th-thank you! Who are you though?”
