Chapter 6: Grinding And Training

Kacper POV

A thumping in my head and desperate attempts of movement I finally open my eyes. Blue notifications are everywhere in my line of sight. I try to lift my arms and legs, but they feel so much heavier, it’s like swimming through water. Fear starts clawing at my nerves as I barley pull myself up, I look around and then all the notifications pop up scaring the life out of me as I scream.  The familiar ping and all my fears are gone. Quikly opens the door to the room which I was in and light races to reach me. He gives me a nod as he looks over me noticing that I am alright before saying “Call me if you need me.” He slams the door leaving me in darkness with only the notifications providing me some light.

“What’s his problem and where the hell am I?” I look around squinting seeing that the room is a classroom with majority of its furniture to the other side. The windows have blinds with some bits of light seeping through. I feel the animal hide under my hands and notice my gear next to me, but I am still wearing my dirty and bloody clothes. I look at my wounds which were bandaged made of some material like papyrus or reeds, the bandages covered my left calf and both of my arms. I sigh and look at the cieling “I wonder how he dragged me here. I probably should solve the notification problem and check my stats.”

Name: Kacper Hodun Health: 21/21 Sex: Male Mana: 27/27 Age: 17 Energy: 36/36 Race: Polish (Outworlder) Culture: English Combat Class: War Mage Lv 1 Job Class: None Strength: 19 Dexterity: 29 Vitality: 14 Agility: 24 Stamina: 24 Perception: 35 Willpower: 41 Charisma: 36 Intelligence: 45 Faith: 57 Sanity: 54 Luck: 34 Abilities- New! Skills- New! Inventory: Locked Doorway Coin: 3 Traits Titles: Fighter Prodigy- New!

Well my stats have fallen most likely it was because I switched my class but why does commoner count as a combat class? I mean maybe it was a base class that people start out with but what about people living in the wilderness or some noble. Wait are their even nobles I mean, no of course there are this is a fantasy world. Okay lets check get rid of the notifications and check out these new things. Abilities is finally unlocked lets see what I have.

Stance- A basic melee boost to attacks increasing attack speed by boosting dexterity. Energy cost of 2 for every minute in use.

So energy is used for fighting abilities I wonder if I their are skills that use both energy and mana. Maybe their are more skills I bet my dollar that their is some spirit power shamans have, divine ability of priests or something like chakra. My second ability .

Bash- A melee attack that creates a stun effect. This based on your strength and weapon against the enemies willpower and resistance. Costs 5 energy to use, can be used every 10 seconds.

My title Fighter Prodigy only gave me more exp for using melee weapons which is pretty good. That isn’t too bad, but I would rather have gotten a defensive ability with my health being so disappointingly low. I clicked on my skills revealing my old and new skill. Mace and club skill at Rookie with my mana manipulation skill jumping to Begginer. Okay that doesn’t matter, let’s see what my knew title is.

Player 387: Has beaten a higher level spirit reaching requirment for Ghost Buster. Ghost Buster gives a boost to all damage dealt to spirits and gain basic understanding of all spirits.

This actually seems useful but I don’t think I will be immediately helpful to me. I sigh and close the menu, slowly I get up and sigh as I grab my armour and weapons. I put them on avoiding my wounds. I open the door and head back to the roof hoping to find Quikly I will need his help to get my stats back to normal or at least close to normal. I open the door to the roof and see quikly turn his head to me "We have a lot do." I say and look to him "I need your help with my stupid decision of replacing Commoner with War Mage. I have become a lot weaker." I scratch my head looking him.

Quikly Gets up dusting of his cloths and looks up at me "I will help you but I want something back." he steps closer to me I stand there waiting for some horrible request but what he says takes me by surprise.

"I wish you teach me how to speak better in the Tall Men tongue.”

I look at him and smile “Deal.” I grab his hand and shake it.

3 Days Later

I regret this so much this stupid goblin is impossible to teach he is just plain ignoring me. He is a fucking terrible student he is so bloody stubborn and won’t accept anything that contradicts him. At least this levelled up my Teaching skill to Initiate my skill isn’t rising any more I guess I need to try harder or teach more people. Not counting him being a terrible student he has helped me get my stats up and level my skills. He forced me to move and clean the whole school it was basically slavery and my stats barely rose. At least my stamina rose by 5 and all the other stats rose by 2 or 3, I guess moving the rubble was at least useful.  My skills have risen Mana manipulation to rank Novice and Mental Projection to Trained.

I was deep in thought before Quikly hit me with the staff, striking my back I turned to him and with an irritated voice said “What?” He pointed his skeletal green hand further into the woods. I froze as I saw goblin hunters heading our way, I hold my bat near me as we lay in the under bush. Quikly grabs my shoulder to keep me still and starts chanting the same white mist emerges from his eyes and a mist surrounds the area. The four hunters notice the mist encircling glade they brandish their savage axes and spears, surprisingly only one of them has a shitty bow.

Quikly looks at me and points at them “Go and attack good for class levels, I support you with magic.” I look at him and hold my bat tightly, nodding I get up and walk out of the bush the goblins look at me quizzically but soon fear appears on their face as spirits start to form in the mist. Yurei, Kikimora and a Tel Hasir start floating around the goblins, it was a good idea to ask Quikly what spirits he could summon. I wonder why some of the spirits he can summon are from mythologies on Earth but others like Tel Hasir aren’t from Earths folklore. I shake my head it doesn’t matter I am going to be fighting, I should focus on the goblins they are the threat. I wait for Quikly to send in the spirits

The Kikimoras with its clawed legs and arms sprints at the goblins. Its long chicken like legs let it reach the spear wielding goblin with a slash at its face. The goblin screams in pain as it is blinded releasing its crude spear. The axe goblin charges it trying to chop at its skinny body, the axe hits its stomach cutting into its clothes it rips the axe out with a maniac look in its eyes. The wounded Kikimoras body doesn’t bleed but straw  falls out, a cackling laughter emerges from its hooded head. The Tel Hasir cackles in laughter as it torments the archer by jumping out from every side screaming at it and doing minor damage. That’s when I notice where is the fourth goblin? I hear a scream of fear, looking up I see the Yurei holding the poor terrified goblin by its leg. A horrifying creepy smile on its face revealing its shark like teeth.

Mental note don’t mess with Quikly he will send the spirits of dammed after me and have my soul devoured. That’s when the Yurei releases the poor bastard as he falls and hits the ground. I turn my head before I see this, but I hear the horrible screech and crunching noise as the body hits the ground. I look back and feel vomit coming up my throat, but I swallow and run to help the spirits. The Kikimora strikes the leg of the axe goblin ripping his muscles. Yet I have to say the goblin has some courage or is at least insane enough to not feel fear or scream in pain. The spear goblin makes a run for the mist with the archer following behind. I run at the goblin activating my Stance and strike the goblins shoulder.

Player 387: Has dealt 7 bludgeoning damage to Gargel Goblin Tribesmen.

The goblin turned around with his crude stone axe he swung and stuck true into my leg. A crazed grin was on his face and he looked me straight in the eye.

Player 387: Gargel Goblin Tribesmen has been dealt 5 slashing damage.

I lifted my bat and swung it hitting his head knocking the life out of the crazed goblin. I feel the rush as I swing it again to make sure he is dead.

Player 387: Has dealt 6 bludgeoning damage killing Gargel Goblin Tribesmen. Exp gained reached War Mage Lv 7.

I look to the two running goblins I touch my mouth to feel a wide smile on my face, this is so fun grinding and killing these little bastards. I turn to the corpse and then the bloody spirits. I just wish they didnt leave behined a corpse, scream or beg for mercy it ruins the fun in fighting. I guess this the world I live in I have to track those little guys down. I turn to look at Quikly and shout to him "I'll get those two, send the spirits out if anymore come close to the school."
