CHAPTER 34 – BOUND BY FATE
LYSANDER FARADEISS
Merging three dragonoids, the resultant abomination, the Cerberus Dragon, now poses an imminent threat, drastically diminishing our odds of survival. In a past encounter with a similar creature, it demanded the coordinated effort of twenty skysoldiers, resulting in five unfortunate casualties.
Fortunately, the future Oracle and the formidable Nova Dragon stand beside us. Their presence alone should assure our safety, provided that both Hiraya and Alris continue to regard me as an ally. Indeed, I trust them implicitly, allowing me to focus on the imminent clash, content that the meticulously devised plan remains intact. I anticipate the Dragon Lord will handle the elimination of their cherished "Doctor" from the previous timeline.
A thunderous roar echoed through the air as the Cerberus Dragon unleashed its fury. The spiky collar erupted in flames, and embers danced through the air as it soared skyward.
Doctor Voltaire's maniacal laughter reverberated through the tense air. "Huahahahahahaha! Fear not, youngsters. Death is not on my agenda for you. Consider yourselves spared, particularly you, the fledgling detective dragon, and you, Miss President. An elf like you is a prime candidate for my experimental endeavors!"
The Cerberus Dragon bellowed once more, its three mouths igniting with menacing purple flames. A torrent of that violet fire surged forth, poised to reduce us to ashes.
“Bubble Barrier!”
Seizing the moment, Gaeun, with her magic wand, conjured a protective barrier. Yet, to our dismay, the purple flames mercilessly engulfed and burst the magical shield.
"A-Ah!" Gaeun gasped in distress.
In response, the Nova Dragon rallied, summoning a blue flame beam from its maw. The intense azure energy clashed with the onslaught of the three purple flame breaths, a desperate struggle ensuing in the battleground of elemental forces.
"I'll aid you!" Hiraya's resolute cry echoed as she conjured a verdant magical circle, launching a barrage of magic missiles. "Triple Wind Arrow!"
The Wind Arrows successfully scattered the trio of purple flame beams upon impact, albeit momentarily. The Cerberus Dragon, undeterred, intensified its onslaught, relentlessly pushing the flames closer.
Recognizing the imminent threat, I couldn't stand idly by. Stepping into the frontline, I initiated a dark magical circle. Draining my dwindling mana reserves, I unleashed a potent spell with the capability to absorb all forms of energy, even light itself.
"Dark Hole!" I intoned, and a spherical portal, pitch-black and ominous, materialized. The Dark Hole swiftly engulfed the menacing purple flames and Alris' Nova Dragon beam, nullifying both attacks completely.
Doctor Voltaire's exclamation cut through the air, his widened eyes locking onto me in sheer astonishment. "Y-You! What the hell are you!?" The tension crackled, a palpable force that hung in the air.
Hiraya's urgent command pierced the chaos. "Now!"
Reacting with precision, Charlotte and Gaeun sprung into action, seizing the moment. The crack of a gunshot echoed as Charlotte's sniper rifle found its mark, tearing through the air to shred the Cerberus Dragon's left wing. Simultaneously, Gaeun conjured a tumultuous earth spike missile that hurtled towards the draconic creature, piercing through its right wing with relentless force. The once majestic Cerberus Dragon, now crippled and unbalanced, succumbed to gravity, crashing to the ground in a chaotic descent.
"I got you now!"
The crimson knight, Kate, fueled by determination, propelled herself forward with a battle cry. Flames danced upon her sword as she channeled the remnants of her strength. With a mighty swing, she directed the fiery blade towards the center head of the Cerberus Dragon. The clash was a symphony of power and fury as the blade connected, leaving a searing mark on the creature's forehead.

"You impudent bitches!" Doctor Voltaire's enraged cry reverberated through the tumultuous scene. With a hair's breadth to spare, he narrowly evaded the razor edge of Kate's sword. Undeterred, irritation etched across his face, he swiftly raised his longsword, aiming to plunge it into Kate's chest.
"Raaaaaah!"
The Nova Dragon, sensing the imminent threat, roared defiantly. Its colossal form charged forward, claws closing around each of the remaining heads of the Cerberus Dragon. In a burst of azure flames, the Nova Dragon propelled itself and its adversary towards the forested outskirts of the town. The collision was fierce, toppling trees like mere twigs in their wake. Kate, once in the line of danger, found herself safely distanced from the immediate threat due to the Nova Dragon's forceful intervention.
"Shit!" Doctor Voltaire's frustrated exclamation punctuated the chaos as he struggled to regain balance, thwarted in his attempt to eliminate the crimson-haired dragonoid student. Fueled by his mounting anger, he lifted his longsword and channeled a potent magic. "Cerberus Whirlwind!"
A tempest of purple flames raged, coiling around the Cerberus Dragon, birthing a cataclysmic flame hurricane. In its merciless dance, the once lush trees crumbled to crisps, consumed by the insatiable blaze. A stroke of luck, perhaps, that the Nova Dragon, Alris, had led the fierce confrontation into the wooded outskirts of Tasty Town; a choice that spared the heart of the settlement from additional devastation.
Hiraya orchestrated her final strategy amid the crackling embers and the lingering heat in the air.
"Hurricanes like these always have one weak point, and it is its eye," Hiraya declared, her voice cutting through the fiery chaos. "Alris, can you take me up into the skies?"
"I will," responded the Nova Dragon, their communication taking the form of unspoken understanding, a telepathic connection woven between dragon and knight.
With wings outstretched to their fullest span, the Nova Dragon ascended with thunderous force, piercing the sky and reaching a height of five kilometers above the ground. Hiraya, perched atop the mighty creature, surveyed the swirling chaos below, her keen eyes discerning the pivotal weakness in the heart of the Cerberus Whirlwind—the eye of the storm.
In a daring move, Hiraya leapt into the open space, her pistol trained on Doctor Voltaire, the orchestrator of the malevolent spell, who maintained the channeling with his longsword. Mana surged through her weapon as she exerted her will, causing the pistol to unfurl ethereal blue wings reminiscent of the Wings of Light. Yet, these wings bore the unmistakable imprint of the Vesryn Pulse, a testament to the full extent of Hiraya's augmented powers.
A bluish-green magical circle materialized at the tip of Hiraya's winged pistol, radiating an aura of compressed energy akin to a miniature sun. With unwavering focus, she gathered and condensed the mana, channeling it into a formidable force.
"Nova Arrow!" Hiraya's cry resonated through the heavens as she unleashed the potent projectile, a manifestation of her mastery over the Vesryn Pulse, hurtling towards the vulnerable heart of the Cerberus Whirlwind.
The Nova Arrow descended unimpeded, a celestial force honed by Hiraya's mastery, streaking toward the heart of the typhoon. As Doctor Voltaire belatedly registered the imminent threat, his curses were drowned out by the inevitability of the approaching cataclysm.
"Damn you, you wretched elf—"
The Nova Arrow struck with unyielding precision, colliding with the Doctor's shoulder. A powerful explosion, a fusion of bluish-green energies, erupted in a spectacular display. The shockwave rippled outward, a forceful current that swept through the dissipating Cerberus Whirlwind like a cleansing tide. Trees bowed in submission to the sonic boom, their branches swaying in the aftermath, and a conspicuous crater bore witness to the Nova Arrow's impact.
Within the scorched aftermath, Doctor Voltaire lay unconscious, his once pristine lab coat and shirt reduced to crisps. By his side, the loyal naked dragonoids, once amalgamated into the fearsome Cerberus Dragon, now lay scattered and inert, their connection severed by the potent force of the Nova Arrow. The battlefield, once a maelstrom of chaos, now echoed with an eerie silence, broken only by the smoldering remnants of the confrontation.
Amidst the aftermath, Hiraya experienced a dizzying descent, hurtling through the air, several kilometers above the ground. She pierced through the clouds, the world a blur as the ground drew near. Just as the reality of gravity's pull became undeniable, her 'prince charming' emerged—the tall, dark, and handsome Alris, now in his Partial Dragon Form, swooped down to retrieve her.
With dragonic wings unfurled, they soared through the skies, the wind whipping around them. Hiraya clung tightly to Alris, her grip a testament to the intensity of their feelings for each other. As they glided through the clouds, she found herself enveloped in the protective embrace of her future husband.
In a moment of vulnerability, Hiraya, the usually composed elf, met Alris' gaze with a passionate expression. "A-Alris," she muttered, her words tinged with a mix of emotions.
"It's okay, Hiraya," Alris responded kindly, his voice a soothing balm. "You know, I think we are bound together by fate."
Hiraya, caught off guard by the tenderness in his words, returned the sentiment with a slightly embarrassed face and a blush, a subtle acknowledgment of the connection they shared.
Yet, back on the ground,, a simmering frustration bubbled within me.
Those two pisses me off.
