It was a normal day for the Lock family. Clive, Claire, and Kan were all eating breakfast around the table. Kan still had many questions about his encounter with that unknown person, but he had a goal he had to accomplish today. Kan finished his breakfast and washed his dishes. Both Clive and Claire were also done eating.
Clive up and went to his room to get ready for his job. Clive was one of the fishermen of the Clear View, and today was the day his group went out to catch fish. The fishermen groups in Clear View worked in different schedules and Clive’s group usually went out once every two weeks for about 3-4 days. But since it was almost time for the inspection from government officials, Clive’s group would come back in 1-2 days.
“Bye Daddy. Have a safe trip.”
“Goodbye Kan.”
“Stay safe out their ok. Don’t be reckless like you usually are.”
“Ok. Ok. I will. I won’t worry you or Kan this time.”
Kan and Claire said their goodbyes to Clive. The days that Clive were gone, Kan wouldn’t be training in his combat locksmith skills. He would be training in his mage locksmith skills with Claire. Kan’s regular schedule for training with Claire usually lands on the weekends, but since Clive wasn’t going to be here to train him, this time would be taken by Claire.
“After you’re done with those dishes we’ll start our training ok.”
“Ok.”
Kan quickly finished up the dishes and went out to their backyard. Claire was already there waiting for him. She was waiting within a magic circle that she had drawn up. It was made so it would lock them within the space they were training in, so none of their magic could damage the surroundings.
“Ok Kan. We’ll start off with our regular training. Let’s see how many wind spears you can make today.”
“Ok.”
Kan began to use his mana to mold 4 wind spears. And there was even a tiny 5th spear that could be seen. Claire walked around and inspected each of these wind spears.
“Hmm. The first 3 are ok but the 4th one is weaker than the first 3. Kan, you should focus on quality over quantity. Instead of trying to create a 5th spear, you should focus on stabilizing the 4th one.”
“Ok.”
“Ok, onto the next one. Now make your spears out of earth.”
Kan made his spears out of earth for his next test. After that he made them out of water, then fire, and his final test was to make 4 spears out of all the elements. Claire was testing out Kan’s ability to control mana and his endurance.
“Hmm. Which one do you think is the hardest element for you to control, Kan?”
“I think its fire Mommy.”
“Correct. From all the elements, you have the most difficulty controlling water and fire. How should you fix it?”
“I should practice it more.”
“Yes. From now on I am banning you from using earth and wind until your control in fire and water is just as good.”
“Even in sparring, Mommy?”
“Yes even in sparring you must only use fire and water.”
“Ok”
This was going to be difficult for Kan. He was planning on challenging Claire to a battle, but not being able to use his strongest elements put him at a disadvantage.
“Mommy can we battle after we’re done training. I want you to fight me with all you have without holding anything back.”
Claire took a moment before answering Kan’s request. She didn’t want to hurt him but she could also she the seriousness in his eyes. Seeing his determination, she decided to agree to it.
“I’ll fight you at full strength, but you still can only use fire and water magic. I’ll also permit you to use your combat locksmith techniques.”
“Ok, thanks Mommy.”
They continued on their regular training. Claire tested Kan’s casting speed, his control, his creativity, and even a little bit on how to create magic seals. This was the first time that she decided to teach Kan how to create magic seals, so Kan was confused, but it didn’t take long for him to get a good understanding of how they worked.

Just like stronger magic, magic seals needed an incantation to fully display its power. But the one difference with magic seals was that you also had to draw out a seal. Depending on what types of effect you wanted the seals to have, it needed different letters and characters imbued in it. These characters in magic seals come from an ancient language and there are many of them but Claire only taught Kan the basic outline of the seal.
“Ok, that concludes today’s training. Before we get to our battle, let’s make lunch to eat.”
They both went to the kitchen was about to cook but Claire remembered something.
“Kan have you tried using your skill yet.”
“Oh. I haven’t Mommy.”
“Ok, use your skill and let Mommy see what type of skill it is.”
Kan had been so busy these past few days that he didn’t have any time to test out his skill [Chef’s Kitchen]. He was excited that he had learned a skill but with the Bone Bear incident and the Jerry incident, he had totally forgotten to test out his skill. He used his skill and once again a small kitchen appeared around him.
“Mommy I’ve used my skill but you probably can’t see it. Last time I used it, the mayor, Leo, and Daddy couldn’t see it.”
“Hmmm. Interesting, I can’t see it but I can somewhat feel that the surroundings had changed. Why don’t you try cooking something.”
“Ok, i’ll cook some eggs for us to eat then.”
Kan grabbed a pan and laid it on top of the stove from his skill. The stove was made from some magic formation and all he needed to do was press a button to start it. There was even a knob to adjust the temperature. It was different from the stove in their home. The stove in Kan’s home didn’t have a magic formation on it that made it this simple to heat up. They had to put in wood and burn it for the stove to heat up. HIs skill was definitely more convenient.
He cracked the eggs on top of the stove and waited for it to cook. While he waited for it to cook he was curious about some parts of his skill. ‘What does it mean when it says utensils and food at 0. Can I store things in it like a chest.’ Since he was curious, he decided to test it out by putting a knife within the drawer formed from his skill.

[Chef’s Kitchen]
“[Chef’s Kitchen] is a skill that will allow the user to cook anywhere he wants to. To use the skill all one has to do is call the name of the skill and their surrounding will become a kitchen. This kitchen will allow the user to cook food that has buffs or debuffs. Depending on the user’s skill in cooking, the probability of a dish with a positive buff will increase. At level 1 all dishes will have a 3% chance of a buff and a 5% chance of a debuff.(Depending on the complexity of the dishes. the probability changes). Each sequential level will increase probability, storage capacity, and the length of time food stays fresh.”
Level 1
Utensils stored: 1
Food stored: 0

The number changed. ‘I guess I can store utensils in this drawer. I guess I can also store food. But how much can I store in it and how long does the food last.’ Kan began putting other utensils within the drawers, but as soon as he tried to put in the 6th item, it got spat out. He could put it in the drawer but a second later it would be shot outside.
‘I guess I can only store 5 utensils. Now what about the food.’ The eggs that he was cooking was done and he put them aside. He began to cook another 5 eggs and tried to store them in the other drawer. He was only able to store 3 dishes before he couldn’t put anymore in. ‘I can only put in 3 dishes, but what about raw ingredients?’ Kan took out the 3 cooked eggs and replaced it with raw eggs. But once again he could only put in 3 eggs. ‘I guess it's better to put in an actually dish then raw ingredients. Now how long can it last before the food becomes bad.’ He once again replaced the raw eggs with the cooked eggs.
But before he stored them he checked if any of them had buffs or debuffs on them. He inspected each dish but they were all ordinary. ‘How do I put buffs and debuffs on the dishes.’ Kan wanted to test it out but remembered that he still needed to fight Claire and the other villagers.
While Kan was doing all of his tests, Claire could only watch in shock. Kan was cooking on air. She could see Kan holding the pan and flipping the eggs, but couldn’t see what he was cooking on. Kan was also making utensils and dishes disappear out of thin air. There were even times when utensils and dishes were shot out of nowhere.
“Here you go Mommy, here are your eggs.”
“Your skill is amazing Kan. It’s a space type support skill. It may not have any uses in battle but nonetheless it’s amazing for everyday life. Can you tell me the specifics of it.”
Kan began to explain his skill in detail to his mother. Claire’s eyes glowed as she heard the description of his skill. It was extremely useful. It could store food and utensils, but the thing that interested Claire the most was the buff and debuff effects of his skills. This aspect would allow Kan to buff other people but also use it to debuff others. If used correctly this would be great for war and assassination attempts. He could cook large batches of food with buffs which would make the soldiers even stronger. He could cook food with debuffs and feed it to the enemies to make them weaker too. It was an excellent skill.
Although Claire thought about these uses for Kan’s skill, she decided not to tell him about it. He was too young and she didn’t want to implement these dangerous ideas in him. It was his skill and it was best that he figured out what he wanted to use it for.
“Kan, your skill is an amazing one and you shouldn’t tell others unless you absolutely trust them, ok. And be careful on how you use.”
“Ok, Mommy. Daddy said the exact same thing about my skill.”
“Good, let’s finish eating and then we can fight. And remember that you should also level up your skill from now on.”
“Ok, but how do I level it up, Mommy.”
“Usually to level up your skills, it requires you to keep on using the skill. The more you use it the more the bar next to the level goes up. But there are some skills that requires you to do certain things to level it up.”
