“What has you so confused Kan? I’ve never seen you so frustrated on something before.”
“I…”
Kan kept silent. He didn’t know whether telling Leo about the disaster would change anything or not. If he told Leo about the disaster it could potentially lead to unknown events from happening.
“It’s ok if you don’t want to tell me.”
Leo could see that Kan was struggling to tell him what he was stressing over. Suddenly an idea popped into Kan’s head. Maybe he could tell Leo about the incoming disaster and even get help from him. He only had to tell Leo the things everyone else already knew about the disaster. He could just leave out all the information that he learned through the memories.
Kan was excited that this idea of his may actually work. From what he remembered in those memories, it seemed that “Kan” was the one to reveal disaster to everyone. And from those memories that “Kan” had revealed the disaster, the disaster was totally different from the previous memories. The factor that was making the disaster worse was “Kan” revealing information he knew about the disaster.
But in Kan’s world everyone had learned about the oncoming disaster through Nicole and Jane. Kan hadn’t revealed any of the information about the disasters from the memories he had seen. If his conjecture was correct, then it would be fine to reveal to Leo about the information on the disaster that the others already knew. It was a gamble but he had to risk it, he only had 7 days left before the disaster.
“Leo, I can tell you what I am worrying over but can you keep this a secret.”
Kan had raised his body and was now in a sitting position. He stared at Leo with utmost seriousness and Leo could see this. He also sat down and looked at Kan. Although they had grown up together, he had never seen Kan so serious about something before. Leo braced himself and agreed to keep this a secret between the both of them.
“I won’t tell a soul about what you are about to say.”
“Ok.”
Kan could see that Leo was prepared to keep this conversation a secret. So he didn’t wait any longer and told him about the disaster. All the information he revealed to Leo was the information he had heard 2 years ago during the Dragon’s Den meeting. Kan could see the disbelief in Leo’s eyes, the event was too shocking for him to comprehend.
Clear View is just a small village in the middle of nowhere, so why would it be attacked. Leo hadn’t even suspected that such a dangerous event was looming over Clear View. His father and great grandpa hadn’t shown any signs of worry at all. He was shocked, absolutely shocked that the peaceful days in Clear View were going to disappear soon.
“Is...is this true?”
“Yes. I know it’s hard to believe but it's true.”
“When. When is it going to happen?”
“I don’t know, but I want to do whatever I can to prepare for it. Will you help me Leo?”
He couldn’t believe what he just heard. ‘He wants to prepare for it. How? We’re just 2 kids.’ He looked at Kan once again to confirm what he just said. Kan was serious about preparing for the disaster. Leo could see the determination in his eyes.

Seeing how determined Kan was, he felt ashamed of himself. The first thing he had thought of when he heard about the disaster was to leave it all up to the adults. He hadn’t even thought of trying to stop or prepare against the disaster.
Kan was growing stronger and leaving him behind again. Every time they had battled, Kan grew stronger and the only thing Leo could do was struggle to keep up with him. He didn’t want to fall behind Kan in strength, he wanted to be stronger than him. Once again Kan proved to Leo how much stronger Kan was than him. Not only was Kan physically stronger, he was even mentally stronger. Leo ushered all of his determination and replied back to Kan.
“I will. What can I do to help prepare for this disaster?”
Kan began explaining Leo’s role in preparing for the disaster. Kan needed Leo to figure out what percentage the Dragon’s Den formation. The was Leo’s main goal and his secondary goal was to try and figure out if the mayor had prepared anything else for the disaster.
The plan was to have Leo interrupt the meeting between the mayor and Clive, which was on thursday. Over the past year or so, Kan had finally figured out that Clive and the mayor had their meetings every 3 months on the first thursday. The plan was for Leo to “accidentally” overhear their talk and interrupt them. He had to act surprised at what they were talking about and stubbornly get them to explain to him what they were talking about. No one would diverge information to a child, so Leo had to force his way into making them explain.
“Do whatever it takes to make the mayor tell you the percentage of the Dragon’s Den formation.”
“Ok, that should be easy. I won’t report back unless I get that information from my grandfather.”
Kan was happy at Leo’s enthusiasm. Having Leo help him find out the formation percentage was a load off of his back. With such a small time frame left until the disaster, Leo’s help was a blessing. Kan had more leeway to convince Nicole and make other preparations.
“What are you going to Kan?”
“I’m going to figure out what my Mommy has prepared for the disaster. I will also go around and challenge my Mommy and Daddy to a fight. I will also ask Uncle Dylan and the mayor to fight me too. If there is enough time I will go challenge some of the other stronger villagers.”
“Wait you’re going to fight all of them. That’s insane. Each one is as strong as a dragon, so why do you need to test them?”
“I know they’re strong but that gives me more of a reason to fight them. I need to see if they are ready to fight and I also need to see if i’m strong enough to handle the enemies. This disaster will be very dangerous and I need to become stronger.”
“Hahaha. That’s an interesting way to get stronger, let me join you.”
Leo laughed with excitement. He had never thought of to challenge all of these powerhouses to a battle. He had been afraid of them because he knew they were vastly stronger, but Kan didn’t hesitate to fight them at all. If Kan was doing this to become stronger than he would also do it to become stronger.
Kan didn’t mind if Leo wanted to join him fighting the other villagers. The two of them spent the next hour or so reviewing what each of them had to do. Leo was now clear on what he had to do and Kan was also ready. The ended their plans and went back to their homes.
Kan took his time as he went back home. He decided to walk around the village and enjoy the scenery. He wanted to burn the village into his memories because in a few days the village was going to be filled with blood and carnage. It was a good day, the skies were blue and there was even a cool breeze from the sea.
Kan was feeling melancholic. He passed by the fields where he had played hide and seek with Leo, Mary, and Jessica, he passed by the lonely tree that was no longer lonely because he planted a friend for it, he passed by the boulder where people carved their dreams, and he passed by Doctor Frank’s clinic. Kan was remembering all of his memories in Clear View. Those were happy times and they would stay with him forever. No matter what happens to the village of Clear View in the future, it would still live on forever in his memories.
Eventually Kan made it home. Claire and Clive asked him where he had gone and he told them that he was playing with Leo. Since he hadn’t eaten breakfast or lunch, Kan cooked himself some food and ate. He then went to bed and slept. He was exhausted after fighting Leo and needed the rest to prepare for the future.
