Ch. 85: Take Your Time

Ch. 85: Take Your Time

NL: I leveled, everyone! I have three class skills – Heal Other, Bless Blood, and Shapeshifting.

Norrus Loruste – male Covargh, age 11+10, 6 stones

Level 1 Ki Healer, Shapeshifter, 1123 XP worth

Student, [Learned Skills], 3 defeated

“Will it always show his age as something plus 10?”

To you and others who knew him before, yes. Anyone else right now would just see him as 21, which is what his interface reports. However, we are expected to use the direct knowledge of our host to provide a more accurate description.

He received a round of congratulations from Swagger and all my other adventuring party members, as well as those of us in the room.

R: We’re going to guide Norrus about using his skills now. We’ll talk to you all later.

That sounded like a polite dismissal.

I agree, but I am sure Norrus is anxious to focus on what he just gained.

Everyone who wasn’t in the room dropped themselves from the party with a quick ‘Bye’ or some other text. Skawa wished us farewell as well, becoming more and more transparent until he just disappeared. That just left Ronkel, Rint, Tiyana Yon, Harron Ronvaldt, Ferret Drewson, Interface, and me. And of course, Norrus and his Mom Vosrin.

Ronkel said, “You’ll have time with all your friends later, Norrus. But this will go better with less gardeners. “

“It’s alright. I understand.”

The wraith continued, “Forrest will show you your Ki Healer skills in a few minutes. But first, use Analyze on Ferret. Then we’ll talk about Shapeshifting.”

“Minor gods! It says something useful!”

“Yes, and it will cost no ki until it reaches Rank E, at which point you’ll see even more. At D, you can start analyzing at a distance, and see other people’s stats. The other generally important non-granted skill you have is Meditate. Like Analyze it is no longer capped, and I expect over the next few days you will have ample opportunity to rank it beyond E.”

I interrupted, “For healers, seeing the stats of others is very important, so don’t neglect Analyze.”

“Learning and using common ki skills is especially important for a shapeshifter,” Tiyana said. “We have a lot less skills than most others, so we need to build Ki Regen mostly from them and the skills of our primary class”

“I’ll learn everything I can and practice all the time. I know I am way behind other 21-year olds.”

Ronkel assured him, “Don’t let that concern you. You are also 11, so in one sense you are way ahead. Let’s discuss shapeshifting in general for a moment. Both Rank and Level have a major influence on what you can do. Generally, rank controls the variety of forms available to you, and how faithfully your shift models what you want to copy. At E, you will gain the capability to change your sex and morph into related races. For you, that will add Humans, Covargh hybrids and Skolturi hybrids like Harron.”

“Will I be able to morph into a pure Skolturi?”

“Eventually, but you will need to understand enough about we wraiths and Harron to understand what a full Skolturi would be. At that point, yes, but don’t expect to be able to do it for many ranks and levels. You will not be able to morph into a wraith, though. We are dead, and you should not attempt to cross that threshold. At Rank D, you gain the capability to morph into other species, like a Trichyan, a bird, or a horse. And at C you begin gaining the inherent capabilities of other races and species. Do you have any questions before I talk about how your level affects shapeshifting?”

“What would happen if I tried to morph into something dead?”

“If you succeeded, you would die. Do not try it.” Humorously, “Imagine how angry it would make Forrest if you killed yourself after he risked his life to save you.” Everyone smiled. “Now, on to level. It has just as much to do with your capability as rank. Rank controls what, and level controls how much. First is, how much time can you remain morphed? That is your level divided by two, in hours. So in a few minutes when you change to a different Norrus, you will be only able to hold it for a half hour.”

Norrus is certainly not dumb. “So when I am Level 40, I can hold a form all day, right?”

Tiyana answered, “Yes, but if you like to sleep, 30 is almost always sufficient.” He grinned at her.

“The other main effect of level,” the wraith continued, “is how much you can change your mass. The factor here is level plus 1, or in your case right now, 2. You can increase your mass by double, or decrease it by half. Eventually, if you want to be a pachyderm or a wolf pup, you will be able. To become a flying bird, you must shed a lot of your mass.”

“Right now, my mass is that of an 11-year old me, right? So if I morph into my younger self, I don’t even need to change my mass.”

“Not quite. Understand you cannot morph yourself into health. When you become 11, your muscles will remain thin, tight, and weak. You will be able to look healthier, but the effects of starvation will remain in effect. But later, once your body regains its muscle mass, you will be fully healthy in whatever form you choose. Similarly, damage you receive in any other form will still be there when you resume your default form. You do not have very much ki purified yet, so take your time.”

“Okay. That makes sense. So what do I do?”

Tiyana asked, “Harron, can you put up your mirrors again so Norrus can see his face?” He acknowledged by putting up the front and side mirrors. “As you start out, visualize what you looked like this morning. You can do one part at a time, so most of us begin with our head as we learn how to do this. Then we slowly continue morphing, arms and hands, legs and feet, and finally your torso, beginning from your butt and crotch up. Doing it in this order will minimize strain on your inner organs. And eventually, you will be able to change your entire form almost all at once.”

“You are an intelligent young wolf, and I have no doubt you have a solid self-image of yourself. Give it a try; there is no need to hurry.”

He looked at the mirror for quite a few seconds before asking, “But what do I do?”

From my relatively recent experience with new aetherial powers, I realized what he was asking. “Norrus.” He looked at me; I was standing at his side that did not have a mirror. “For my ki powers, I imagine an energy circulating within my body. Whether the picture in my head is actual ki or not, I don’t know, but I don’t think it matters. What you do is imagine controlling that ki to accomplish what you want. Face and head younger? Do it! It will be exactly the same when you learn your healing skills in a little while.”

“I’ll try that, Forrest. Thank you.” He turned to face the mirror in front of his face again. After a couple seconds, the fur on his face started getting a little sparser, a little younger. His snout narrowed a little and shortened in length. Soon his whole head was very close to that of the Norrus from this morning. “I did it! I was afraid I would have to individually morph each hair or something, but once I started picturing my face and head, it all started changing at once. My face still looks kind of starved, though, thin cheeks, and not enough flesh around my eyes.”

Ronkel told him, “You have morphed your head back to how it was at 11, but yes, you are still starved. We’ll fix that appearance after you finish morphing the rest of you to be younger.

Norrus focused on one arm and hand at a time, and they shrunk appropriately. He had the same success with each of his legs. “I won’t hurt, um, anything, as I de-age my body, right?” Ronkel assured him he could undo anything he didn’t like. Without further questioning, his thighs and body started shrinking, back to mostly how it should be for the young Norrus.

“This feels like it. My muscles are still very tight, though. What do I need to do now?”

Tiyana told him, “Now you start imagining another vision of yourself, one with more flesh than normal. You will be able to achieve a balance between the starved appearance and more robustness. If you go too far, you will start to appear fat. You know you best; strive to make yourself like you were when you woke up.”

Just as he had done getting younger, he started on his face, which he got to look exactly like I remembered it. He had the same success with his appendages and torso.

“This is it,” Norrus said. “It has to be for now, because I’ve only got one ki left.”

“I was monitoring that,” Ronkel told him. Your Ki Regen is not quite making one ki per minute at its rank and your level. So after your half hour of transformation is over, I suggest using the ki you build up over that time to train your other two skills with Forrest. Would you like us to help you stand now? I doubt you have stable balance on your taller self yet, but I think you can manage the form you are used to.” Harron allowed his mirrors to despawn.

“Okay.” He started sitting up, using his arms to help him up.. “This hurts” Harron assured him that under the circumstances that was normal, but to go slow. Seeing her son in pain, Vosrin gave him a hug. “I really like the hug, Mom, but can you do it lighter?” She apologized and loosened to as light a hug as possible.

Then she moved to stand in front of him. She held out her arms downward to the seated Norrus. “Grab hold and I will help you up.” They clasped hands, and together they managed to get Norrus fully on his feet. Harron had moved behind to catch him if he fell.

“I still hurt; my legs are tight and stretched now.”

Harron said, “We probably should not keep you standing very long. A few days of eating normally will help a lot. But you do need to start reminding your muscles what they are there for. Do you think with your Mom’s and my help you can make it to the wall ahead of you? Then we would turn around and go to the wall behind, Then make another turn and a few more steps back to the mat”

“I can try, but I don’t know if I will be able to make it.” Slowly they assisted him in reaching the forward wall. I could see by his grimace that walking hurt. Resolutely he turned with his two supporters. “My body tells me I should just go back to the mat and lay down. But I want to go all the way to the far wall, and then return to the mat.” Harron gave his approval, and they walked across the room slowly. They turned, with Norrus breathing slightly hard. “Let me stand here for a little while.”

“Son, tomorrow if you feel up to it, I would like to get Harron or someone to help you stand in your 21-year old form. I’ll take some clothing measurements like you have watched me do dozens of times.” Norrus and Harron both agreed.

After about 35 seconds, Norrus told them okay. They slowly returned to the mat, and they helped him lay upon it. With a wry, pained smile he looked at me. “You want to switch, Forrest? You get the ten years, and I get two months?”

“I would if I could, buddy. But, full picture? If we did that, you’d still be four years away from Level 1.”

He corrected me. “It would be less than three and a half years. But you are right. I want my level and these classes. And the gods say I will fully recover. So sorry, I’ll keep this, and you won’t have the bajillion RP and XP you would get during those ten years.

‘Bajillion’ is a surprisingly accurate estimate for an 11-year old.

“If I start meditating now, would I lose this form and stop getting RP for shapeshifting?” Ronkel told him that as a 1-F shapeshifter, he would. But by the time he is Rank C in both Shapeshifting and Meditation, he could do both simultaneously

“Since I am saving up ki for Forrest’s lesson, what should I do now?”

I: You can be using your Analyze for free. You will still gain RP toward reaching Rank E. You just need to analyze 100 different people or things.

“That is a good idea. Thank you, Interface. Oh, will it cost ki to return to my default form?” Tiyana told him no. Returning to one’s default is always free.

While waiting for his transformation period to end, and for him to build up some ki, Ronkel and Tiyana spent most of that time telling him about their experiences with shapeshifting. We each made ourself available so he could touch us and our clothes and armor. His Analyze was touch-based at his level, and we understood he would not be ambulatory. After he had analyzed our persons, his Mom or Ferret would bring him an item from the room every minute or so.

“What more will I see when it gets to E?”

R.I: We will show you people’s ages and, if any of their stats are below 90% full, you will see colored stat gauges like you can see for you. Except you will only see the gauge and colors. No numbers until a much higher rank.

I added, “Rank D is especially important for healers. You can start using Analyze without needing to touch, and knowing a person's or creature’s stats at a distance is very useful in knowing what to do in emergency situations.”

“I’ll be able to heal animals, too?!” I acknowledged with a smile, but let him know that Ki Healer skills all involved touch.

“Your transformation period is almost over,” Ronkel informed him. Norrus was surprised it was over so soon. “It begins from when you first start transforming, not from when you completed it.”

He transformed back to the 21-year old Covargh within just a few seconds. It didn’t occur in the stages he used to become 11. “I’m surprised that it didn't hurt. I knew I was changing, but there wasn’t any pain.”

Tiyana informed him, “Consider that a blessing. When you think of what happens to our bodies during a transformation, extreme pain would be an obvious expectation. Instead it is just an awareness that a transformation is occurring.”

----------------------------------------

“Forrest, I have 21 ki. Will that be enough to use my two healing skills?”

“Yes, wolf, but we’ll just do each skill one time. Do you want to barely get a gist of them, or actually heal me and make some blood for me?”

“I guess actually use them. I have read the description for both. This time when I imagine my Ki, I need to think that some of it is flowing from me to my patient, right?”

“Yes, that is exactly what I do. Harron, could you get a pan for me to bleed into, and then cut me perpendicular to one of the blood veins in my lower arm?”

“He has to cut you?!”

“Either that or get a bear in here to maul me. You cannot heal someone if there is no injury. The good news is you can use Bless Blood as a ward anytime, with no injury. But you might as well actually restore some of it.”

Harron added, “That’s right, Norrus. Healer training involves a lot of intentional injuries. The school is very fortunate to have a formless abider that will help minimize trainees getting hurt, but if you want to be able to heal someone who needs it, you first need to train on beings who did not.”

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

He went to another room and got a metal bedpan and a knife. He came back a moment later saying, “I’m sorry to say that my bear took the day off. We’ll have to make do with this knife and pan.”

I sat down with my legs crossed next to Norrus’ mat. I was just forward of his waist and turned to face him.” Harron knelt in front of me, and I held out my right arm, the one nearest our new healer. The bedpan was laid on the floor between us. He quickly cut my wrist across the veins, with the cut being less than two inches long. I could only see the faces of Harron, Norrus, and his Mom. The latter two winced but didn’t turn their heads away.

Harron told me, “I’m going to let you bleed for half a minute.” The flow of blood was significant.

I asked Norrus if he wanted to sit while he did this, or keep laying flat on the ground. He said he would like to sit to get a better view, so his Mom helped him sit up. He winced a little more, this time at his own experience not in imagining mine. “You don’t actually have to watch, but I think you’re smart to want to get a good look this first time.”

Harron said I had bled enough. I told the wolf to grab my wrist as if he were using his hand to stop my bleeding. “I hadn’t thought about all the blood I would see. I guess I’ll have to get used to it, huh?” He grabbed my wrist as I had instructed, it still being held above the bed pan.

“You will. Okay, now exactly like you said. Imagine ki energy flowing from you into me, and focus on the desire to heal me. Watch your stats, and stop if you get near 8 ki. That is how much a single dose of Bless Blood will cost.” It didn’t take him long to figure it out. I felt a warmth where he had grabbed my wrist. He stopped after two seconds, and I saw that he had healed 5 of the 9 missing health points.

“That’s all I can do and still have enough ki for Bless Blood.” I assured him that what he did was fine, and activated my HPR Boost to finish the job.

I: At Rank F, your Heal Other uses 6 ki per second. It is only 40% efficient, so the 12 ki you sent to help Forrest heal, raised his HP by 5. Your ability to heal will rise rapidly as you rank it, and your maximum ki will grow with level. Your Ki Regen skill will rank also. You are only at the very beginning of very powerful capabilities.

“Thank you, Interface. I know I’m just beginning. Plus if it was fully charged, I would have started with close to 150 ki. Forrest, what do I need to focus on next?”

I told him, “Heal Other is topical – you have to touch very near the injured area. Bless Blood affects your patient's entire body. You can keep your hand wrapped around my wrist. Now picture your ki going into me and making blood.”

“Hey, that was easy. Eight ki went away in just a second!”

“And you restored a lot of my blood. You can take away your hand now.“ I was surprised to see that my wrist looked entirely healed. That was quicker than I expected HPR Boost and HP Regen to finish up.

“I suspect my accelerated self heal is part of our talk.”

Yes.

“Mom, I’d like to lay back down now. I’m getting tired.” She gently helped him do so, then stretched a blanket over him.

Harron suggested that Norrus Meditate until sleep took hold. He agreed.

“Can I spend the night here?” asked Ferret. “There are two mats. And if Norrus gets thirsty or something during the night, I would be right here to help.”

Vosrin said, “I had been thinking that I would stay. But if Norrus would rather be here with his friend, it would be like a sleepover.”

“Thank you, Mom. I think I would like it if Ferret stayed. I would rather him help me go to the bathroom when the time comes. Weird that I don’t have to yet.”

I speculated, “Neither do I. Perhaps that temporal vortex used up any waste we had to help us grow. It would have been more readily available mass.” Ronkel said that I could well be correct.

Harron told us, “The matter is settled, then. These two young men may spend the night in my infirmary. “Ferret, I’ll be in my room next door if you need me for anything. With the gods’ assurance that he will recover, I don’t expect anything bad, but you should know it is okay to get me if you need to”

The two shapeshifters and I left the infirmary room. I heard Vosrin say, “I’m hungry. I assume you boys – that includes you, Harron – are, too. I’ll go get four meals from Karzin’s Inn of whatever they are serving tonight. Tonight it is my treat. I’ll be back in about a half hour.”

Harron warned him, “Don’t eat too much at once, Norrus. Your body will accept many small meals better than a few large ones. And thank you, Vosrin”

----------------------------------------

I activated Dark Sight as soon as I got outside. It was past 17 and night was almost fully here. The moon was providing significant light, but Dark Sight was still very useful. As I was walking toward the stable to see Swagger, I told Interface I would be discussing my leveling issues with the gang.

I suggest you limit your discussion with your friends to free point assignment and choice of level 7 skill. The complexities of the other information involves galactic knowledge; I would like to hold that discussion in private. It would likely bore everyone but you, anyway.

“Okay. What are my skill choices, anyway?”

Share Health and Cure Disease.

“I’m almost positive I will be choosing Share Health, but it will be useful to share the description of Cure Disease with Onre and others.”

Swagger was grazing in the corral. I invited him and Interface to a party. “Hi Swagger.”

S: Hi Forrest. How is Norrus?

“He got a chance to use each of his new skills. He’s tired out, though. Ferret is spending the night with him in Harron's infirmary room. He has accepted his additional years as well as anyone could, and Shapeshifting can let him look 11. He won’t be able to move easily for a few days.”

S: I am happy to hear he will be okay.

“I am going to relay this information to the team. Then I’ll see if they want to be involved in discussing my Level 7 options. Would you like to remain in the party for that?”

S: Yes, that would be interesting. Thank you for keeping me involved.

I told him with a smile, “We’re partners. I have to. I’ll head over to our apartment now.”

S: Alright.

I checked our apartment first. As expected, everyone but Ferret was there. I informed them about Norrus just as I had Swagger and asked them if they would be interested in being part of a discussion concerning my Level 7 choices. Everyone said yes, so I added Arrjee, Onre, Kossa, and Sun to the party. Arrjee suggested I ask our friends next door. They had been told about Norrus' situation and might be interested in further discussions. I agreed, and Kossa left to get them.

In the meantime I asked if anyone had any berries left. I had literally been starved for months, but until now ongoing stress had kept me from seeking food. Arrjee gave me a handful, and reminded me to not eat too much at once, just as Harron had told Norrus.

Nictus, Odd, Hebya, and Urrel joined us. Corval was in town. I spent about 5 minutes bringing them up to date concerning Norrus. They were all interested in my Level 7 stuff, so I added them to the party also.

FR: Welcome. Norrus felt the effects of accelerated time much more than me. He aged ten years, but I only aged by two months. Still, due to Boost Armor being active for those months, it ranked all the way from D to B, which is why I am Level 7 now. I have 3 free points to assign, and then choose between two skills, Share Health and Cure Disease.

OE: That would be a massive amount of RP and XP in just a few seconds of real time!

FR: Yes.

HW: How do you have 3 free points?

S: Hebya, Forrest is immortal, so he gets 3 free points each level to help balance the fact that he only exists one day out of seven. I’m Level 11 but have not had any free points to assign. I think I will from now on, though.

I: Yes, you will.

FR: My plan up to now was to assign one point to perception because it lags, one to vitality to help with my healing skills, and one point to either endurance or wisdom to help with Boost Armor. But the majority of my attributes have reached at least 26, thesholding them. Only Charisma, Luck, Perception, and Strength are not there yet. Charisma and Luck are very low, not even 12 yet. But if I add 1 to strength and 2 to perception, they will both be 26. What do you guys think would be the better choice? Stick with my plan, or threshold the two other attributes?

NS: I would favor thesholding.

There was general agreement with Niscus on that point, but with both Hebya and Urrel saying they didn’t know enough to have an opinion.

FR: Okay, it is settled then. Interface, assign one free point to strength and two to perception.

I: Perception: 26

Strength: 26

HP: 442/447

SP: 438/442

Not everyone in the party knew about Share Health, so I had Interface show both descriptions, Share Health first as a reminder to those who already knew of it.

I: Share Health is a full-body heal of another being. It costs very little ki, but most of the cost is your own health, much of which is transferred to your patient. It only improves health, and has no effect on toxins or other factors which might be causing health to be adversely affected. Rank F values:

Ki Rate: 1/min

HP cost: 25/min

SP cost: 25/min

Efficiency: -60%

OL: It’s a good thing you have all those hit points now!

Everyone laughed at Onre’s comment.

FR: Describe Cure Disease.

I: Cure Disease allows you to reduce or eliminate a disease from any sapient or sentient patient. Higher severity diseases will require multiple doses and/or a higher rank. Diseases include various fevers and natural conditions such as scarlet fever, measles, smallpox, arthritis, and various cancers. Rank F values:

Ki/dose: 25

Recharge: 10 minutes

FR: How often do people get diseases? I don't think I have seen anyone really sick before.

OL: Not very often, and usually alchemical potions can take care of the problem.

S: I am pleased that it works on beasts. Wild horses and other animals do not have potions available.

I: Its only general limitation is that it is not effective with plant life. Botanists have a skill for that.

FR: Swagger, I promise I’ll take Cure Disease soon, probably when next offered at level 10. The synergy between HPR Boost and Share Health is extremely appealing. Plus with Share Health I can restore hit points lost to disease, right Interface?

I: Yes, that is correct. The disease would remain, causing further harm. You can heal the damage it has already done, except for lost memories and functionality due to some sort of brain damage.

FR: I will almost definitely choose Cure Disease at 10. For now, I choose Share Health.

I: Granted Skill: Share Health, F

“Interface, should I show them my character sheet?”

I advise against it. You will not understand it immediately, and neither will they. It will raise questions you are not ready to answer.

FR: Thank you for discussing this stuff with me. I hope the youngest members of our gang learned something about making leveling choices. Interface has some complicated stuff to discuss with me concerning my time in the temporal vortex, and we agreed that the initial conversation occur privately.

S: I know I learned something. Thank you!

FR: Nothing is private, though, about almost anything we discussed. Just be careful who you tell about Interface being sapient and about my immortality. I’d still like that knowledge to be held only among my friends.

FR: I’m going to go sit by Abbie. I haven’t seen her in weeks. After my discussion with Interface, I’ll probably train some Share Health with her help.

----------------------------------------

Everyone wished me luck, and dropped from the party. I greeted the guards on my way to Abbie, greeted her, and sat on the ground next to her.

“Okay, where should we start?”

Perhaps begin with what you think you know. What level are you?

“7, but you must want me to know more than that. Query Level.”

Level: 7 + 8349 / 8349, with 28 days for Level 8 to unlock

“Level braked. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. But wait – if I already have enough experience for 8, did I go beyond it?

Level 8 + 9616 / 9616, with 61 days for Level 9 to unlock. 30% XP loss.

Level 9 + 4700 / 10,943, with 98 days for Level 10 to unlock. 51% XP loss.

“Holy schnikes! No wonder you were saying it is complicated. But this is common knowledge, right, not galactic?”

Yes, but our discussion has barely begun. Would you like me to proceed one step at a time, or show you a summarized report immediately?

“‘Barely begun’ implies to me I should take baby steps. And show me the gory details.”

Very well. You have been credited with 75 days of development. That is 1500 hours.

Achievement: Meditation, C

Passive gain for 1500 hours: 1500 RP, 300 XP.

D⮕C XP bonus: 88 XP. Total XP: 388

“That improves both my active and passive regens. Great!”

And the RP bonus for other skills rose from 2.5% to 5.0% after about 50 days, with an average RP bonus of 3.25%.

“Very cool. Next.”

Achievement: Boost Armor, C

Achievement, Boost Armor, B

1500 hours at 16 ⅔ RP/hour = 25,000 RP + 3.25% = 25,812 RP

25,182 RP = 8604 XP + D⮕C XP bonus of 148 + C⮕B bonus of 895

Total XP: 9647

Total Ki: 225,000

Total SP: 225,000

“I follow that. Next.”

Achievement: Dodge, C

This is where galactic knowledge comes in. As documented, Dodge gains 3 RP on a first attack, and 2 RP on any other attack during the several seconds Dodge remains active. When you defeated the zebor on your first day with your reverse dodge combo, I credited you with 3 RP as if you had dodged an attack.

I did not know how to credit your 15,000 instances of Dodge. Only one of them fulfilled your goal of dodging toward Norrus and grabbing him. But every one of them was vital in achieving that goal. One of the reasons I did not want to report to you immediately is that I needed to ask Referee about this. They are a galactic assistant to System, and one of their functions is to decide very fringe cases we interfaces are not able to handle on our own.

They were not able to respond immediately. In fact, it took two hours for them to resolve this issue. First, they have modified the description of Dodge. Your “reverse Dodge” technique has become normalized, and a user will be credited 1 RP for a “to target” Dodge. This will be mutually exclusive with evasion RP, and only one case of “to target” will count per activation.

“Wow! So can all martial artists see that change now if they look at the description?”

Yes. If Lenyet had checked in the last hour, he could have read the updated description. Anyone will, galaxy-wide. Not many people are responsible for officially modifying a skill. Congratulations.

“Thank you, but that certainly was not my intent.”

Speaking of your intent, the other part of the question was, do you get credited once for actually reaching Norrus, or 15,000 times for each time you activated it? Referee ruled that each activation was a necessary but incomplete step, so he had me divide the total RP by 3. You were credited with the full amount of Ki and SP used, however. I can complete the Dodge statistics now.

15,000 activations at ⅓ RP each = 5000 RP + 3.25% = 5162.

5162 RP = 1720 XP + D⮕C bonus of 148

Total XP = 1869

Total Ki = 165,000

Total SP = 135,000

“That is really amazing. If you talk to Referee again, thank them for me.”

I will send them a PM. As you observed in the various sections, you gained significant Ki and SP. This led to rank gains in all your regens.

Achievement: Ki Regen, B

390,000 ki * 1 RP / 10 ki = 39,000 RP + 3.25% = 40, 267 RP total

70% to Ki Regen = 28,187 RP

30% to HP Regen = 12,080 RP

28,187 RP * 1 XP / 3 RP = 9395 XP

C⮕B bonus = 895 XP. Total = 10,291 XP.

Achievement: SP Regen, B

360,006 SP * 1 RP / 15 SP = 24,000 RP + 3.25% = 24,780 RP total

70% to SP Regen = 17,346 RP

30% to HP Regen = 7534 RP

17,346 RP * 1 XP / 3 RP = 5682 XP

C⮕B bonus = 895 XP. Total = 6758 XP

“Is there an extra 6 in total stamina?”

No. You were credited with running 10 yards from the point you began outside the vortex. The run used 6 SP, and gained you 0.1 RP and 0.02 XP.

“That means I was not credited with a 2-month run. Just an observation, not a complaint.”

Run RP is based on distance traveled, not time. Plus, it has no aetherial component to bypass temporal effects.

Achievement: HP Regen, B

12,080 RP + 7534 RP = 19,614 RP (already includes 3.25% bonus)

19,614 RP * 1 XP / 3 RP = 6538 XP

C⮕B bonus = 895 XP. Total = 7533 XP

That is all. Were these baby steps sufficiently gory?

“Most certainly. It is all incredible, really.”

Yes.

“Oh, you mentioned temporal effects. I assume those were what paralyzed Norrus. Why could I still move?”

Your mind has experienced many hours of accelerated time during your sixdays. This did not shield you from the effects totally, because your brain and body have no such conditioning. But you maintained sufficient wherewithal to complete your task.
